Diseño Interior de un Centro de Rehabilitación Física y Psicológica / Interior Design of a Physical and Psychological Rehabilitation Center for Women with Breast CancerBermúdez Cáceres, Dana Alexis 22 May 2019 (has links)
This thesis was structured in order to create a new experience that provides a better quality of life for women diagnosed with breast cancer. For this reason, it is proposed to break with the typical concept of a Rehabilitation Center and contribute to the development of a new internal management strategy so that the system is as flexible as the needs of patients in real time. Another purpose of this project is that it can be executed with the support of an NGO and by the hand of specialists in breast cancer disorders specialists, experts in nutrition and physical rehabilitation join idea together with specialists in landscaping, infrastructure and design. In this way to develop a functional operational model that rehabilitates both directly and indirectly the patients from their admission to the center.
For this project, firstly, a study was carried out on the effects and consequences of breast cancer, as well as the possible treatments for the rehabilitation process regardless of each diagnosis or stage. Since there is no Physical and Psychological Rehabilitation Center for Women with Breast Cancer in the country, the analysis of their architecture, experience and functionality of existing institutions with the same objective was carried out in countries such as Spain, Colombia and Argentina. In this way, the necessary information was obtained to execute a structured system for each specialty proposed in this thesis, merging interior design and architecture with that of medicine.
Secondly, the location and perimeters around the chosen house where the project will be developed were analyzed to subsequently carry out a structural intervention and then the design of each environment so that they can meet the needs of our target audience.
Finally, the conclusions are presented in relation to the objectives proposed at the beginning of the project. / Tesis

The course of pain intensity in patients undergoing herniated disc surgeryDorow, Marie, Löbner, Margrit, Stein, Janine, Pabst, Alexander, Konnopka, Alexander, Meisel, Hans J., Günther, Lutz, Meixensberger, Jürgen, Stengler, Katarina, Riedel-Heller, Steffi G. 28 June 2016 (has links) (PDF)
Objectives: The aims of this study are to answer the following questions (1) How does the pain intensity of lumbar and cervical disc surgery patients change within a postoperative time frame of 5 years? (2) Which sociodemographic, medical, work-related, and psychological factors are associated with postoperative pain in lumbar and cervical disc surgery patients? Methods: The baseline survey (T0; n = 534) was conducted 3.6 days (SD 2.48) post-surgery in the form of face-to-face interviews. The follow-up interviews were conducted 3 months (T1; n = 486 patients), 9 months (T2; n = 457), 15 months (T3; n = 438), and 5 years (T4; n = 404) post-surgery. Pain intensity was measured on a numeric rating-scale (NRS 0–100). Estimated changes to and influences on postoperative pain by random effects were accounted by regression models. Results: Average pain decreased continuously over time in patients with lumbar herniated disc (Wald Chi² = 25.97, p<0.001). In patients with cervical herniated disc a reduction of pain was observed, albeit not significant (Chi² = 7.02, p = 0.135). Two predictors were associated with postoperative pain in lumbar and cervical disc surgery patients: the subjective prognosis of gainful employment (p<0.001) and depression (p<0.001). Conclusion: In the majority of disc surgery patients, a long-term reduction of pain was observed. Cervical surgery patients seemed to benefit less from surgery than the lumbar surgery patients. A negative subjective prognosis of gainful employment and stronger depressive symptoms were associated with postoperative pain. The findings may promote multimodal rehabilitation concepts including psychological and work-related support.

With this social psychological study we wanted to gain an increased understanding of whatimportance the social support had for how rehabilitative individuals' look at their mental illness. The eight interviews were conducted in a rehabilitation project for people with mentalillness in one of Sweden's municipalities. The people we interviewed were enrolled in the rehabilitationproject and participated in its activities. The result showed that dialogue withpeople who had experience from similar mental illness and professionals had greatest impacton how the respondents' looked at their mental illness. In the analysis, we used Goffman’stheory of stigma, Mead’s theory of role taking and Buber’s theory of dialogue between individuals.According to our analysis, people with similar mental health and professionals contributedto what we call liberating dialogues in which respondents could be understood andaccepted as they were. We mean that the significance these people had for the individual'sunderstanding and acceptance was based on their understanding by their recognition andwork. We mean that this understanding could not be obtained by any person without suchproperties, no matter who it was, if the knowledge wasn’t acquired.
