Network Authentication to the Physical WorldSandberg, Joakim January 2018 (has links)
Quick Response (QR) codes have been used for both non-authentication purposes and authentication & authorization of a user. The visual representation of a QR code requires a reader/decoder to convert the code to a readable resource for an application. This raises some concerns, such as: What kind of information and how much information can be stored in this representation? What kind of vulnerabilities are there when using this technology in some type of authentication? The concrete problem addressed in this thesis is whether a mobile device displaying a QR code can be used as an authenticator for an Axis Communications A8105-E Network Video Door Station. To solve this problem the thesis investigates the use of QR codes in authentication & authorization based upon displaying a QR code on a mobile device, scanning this code via a camera, and then verifying the code using a validation server. Two important issues were what information to put into the QR code (given that the QR code is to be read by a camera) and where the decoding process should be carried out. This thesis also considers multiple types of authentication. Moreover, the system contains multiple components which themselves rely on secure communication and well-designed protocols to ensure security (against popular methods of attack) and stability. A prototype of the proposed authentication process was evaluated using a testbed consisting of three door stations, an Android app, and a backend service for analysing QR codes and making an authentication & authorization decision. QR codes proved to be as secure as the current solutions, such as magnetic stripe or RFID access cards. Using QR codes together with the user’s mobile device also offered additional functionality, such as easy management of the device registration/deregistration and compatibility with multifactor authentication. The conclusion is with the current door station products and the finalized design of the software; it is possible to have a secure and scalable system which is also cost-effective by eliminating the need of human verification as well as equipment required for access card systems.

Autonomous Quadcopter Landing with Visual Platform LocalizationBlaszczyk, Martin January 2023 (has links)
Multicopters such as quadcopters are a popular tool within industries such as mining, shipping and surveillance where a high level of autonomy can save time, increase efficiency and most importantly provide safety. While Unmanned Aerial Vehicles have been a big area in research and used in the mentioned industries, the level of autonomy is still low. Simple actions such as loading and offloading payload or swapping batteries is still a manual task performed by humans. If multicopters are to be used as an autonomous tool the need for solutions where the machines can perform the simplest task such as swapping batteries become an important stepping stone to reach the autonomy goals. Earlier works propose landing solutions focused on landing autonomous vehicles but the lack of accuracy is hindering the vehicles to safely dock with a landing platform. This thesis combines multiple areas such as trajectory generation, visual marker tracking and UAV control where results are shown in both simulation and laboratory experiments. With the use of a Model Predictive Controller for both trajectory generation and UAV control, a multicopter can safely land on a small enough platform which can be mounted on a small mobile robot. Additionally an algorithm to tune the trajectory generator is presented which shows how much weights can be increased in the MPC controller for the system to remain stable.

Performance and feature support of Progressive Web Applications : A performance and available feature comparison between Progressive Web Applications, React Native applications and native iOS applications.
Mobile platform fragmentation is one of the main challenges of mobile development today, forcing developers to develop one application for each targeted platform, which significantly impacts time and cost for application development and maintenance. The fragmentation has given rise to cross-platform application development tools and frameworks, making it possible to develop one single application compatible with several platforms. This thesis focuses on the web-based approach Progressive Web Applications (PWAs), which, in contrast to previous approaches, targets both mobile and desktop devices. We aim to point out the supported features, evaluate their suitability for QR code scanning, and their performance compared to alternative approaches on iOS. We specifically cover a feature set of 33 features and measure response times, CPU and memory utilization, geolocation accuracy, and QR code scanning correctness. We developed three benchmark artifacts for the performance analysis: a PWA, a React Native application, and a native iOS application, and conducted automated run-time experiments using the tools Xcode and XCUITest. The performance evaluation shows that native applications performed best in memory and CPU utilization, whereas React Native achieved the shortest response times. The feature evaluation shows that the majority of the features are supported or partially supported for PWAs, and that the support continues to grow. Still, PWAs lack support for crucial mobile features such as push notifications and background synchronization, making PWAs insufficient for advanced mobile application development on iOS. Nevertheless, this study shows that PWAs are well worth considering for applications with low requirements.

Entretanto, devido a degradações
In several practical applications, the QR Code is used to encode important information,
such as technical information about the equipment on which it is fixed or patient
ID information in hospitals, and it is important to guarantee that the tag is correctly read.
However, due to physical degradations in the tag or due to the image aquisition process,
which are modeled as a noise, it is possible that read errors occur. Therefore, in this work,
a new approach for image denoising is proposed, aiming to minimize read errors in QR
Codes. Assuming that the noise, in such applications, has an impulsive characteristic, a new
adaptive filter was developed, capable of minimizing image degradations and increasing
the QR Code successful scan rate. Simulation results indicate that the proposed method
is significantly more efficient than traditional approaches using median filters.

Cross-platform Mobile Development and Internet of Things : Developing a cross-platform mobile application using web technologies to interact with smart thingsAnton, Andersson, Runbert, Johan January 2015 (has links)
Today more and more objects in our daily lives are getting connected to the Internet. This phenomenon is called the Internet of Things and is a way for physical things such as cars, buildings or even bus stations to get access and communicate with other objects using the Internet. The problem is that for every Internet of Things device, an application is often needed in order to communicate with these devices. Developing mobile applications in a separate programming language for each operating system can be an expensive and time consuming task. In this thesis, we implement and evaluate a cross-platform mobile solution for users to interact with smart things using the advantages of web technologies. To compare previous findings in this area, two literature reviews has been performed to find out which is the state of the art on cross-platform mobile development frameworks and smart-things technologies used for interacting with physical objects. The result is a mobile application developed using PhoneGap and jQuery Mobile that interacts with iBeacons, where students inside a university building can get directions and schedules for different rooms. The application received good results from a couple of usability studies, and performed well when measuring its performance. The outcome shows that web technologies that exist today are a viable solution to native mobile applications in terms of interacting with smart things such as tagging technologies.

Lidová kultura jako faktor rozvoje cestovního ruchu v regionu Valašsko / The folk culture as a factor of tourism development in the region of ValašskoBLÁHOVÁ, Petra January 2013 (has links)
The aim of this thesis is to highlight the importance of folk culture for tourism development and to suggest options for better evaluation and effective use of the potential of folk culture tourism in the selected region based on the results of the analysis in the region of Wallachia. In the introduction of the practical part I deal with the current supply of Wallachia. The fundamental part was quantitative marketing research in the form of a questionnaire survey. The aim of the survey was to identify the participants of tourism in terms of demographic characteristics, determine the purpose of the visit, analyse their financial expenses, and identify subjective perception of culture and assessment of infrastructure and services in the region. I designed a new product called "Wallachia hunt", which aim was to involve young people in the Wallachia culture, tourism allows participants to actively and an interesting way to travel around the region and specifically to discover its natural and cultural wealth. "Wallachia hunt" is based on the worldwide known activity called geocaching. In my work I have put together a detailed proposal for annual testing of this activity.
