Chert Nastapoka : caractérisation chimique et exploitation au Paléoesquimau, baie d’Hudson, NunavikLeclerc, Marianne-Marilou 04 1900 (has links)
Les assemblages lithiques dominent la plupart des sites archéologiques du Nunavik et constituent ainsi une véritable mine d’informations. Le nombre limité de travaux sur les matériaux de la côte est de la baie d’Hudson, nous a amené à nous pencher sur une source présente dans ce secteur. Notre objectif était alors de caractériser la matière première provenant de cette formation géologique, le chert Nastapoka.
Pour ce faire, nous avons choisi la technique de fluorescence aux rayons X. Les résultats ont permis de constater, en plus des observations macroscopiques, la nature très variable de ce chert présentant une signature chimique complexe.
Pour compléter le portrait, nous avons évalué l’utilisation du chert Nastapoka par les Paléoesquimaux par une comparaison d’analyses technologiques déjà effectuées sur les sites GhGk-4, GhGk-63 et IcGm-5. Cet examen a révélé que l’évolution des stratégies d’exploitation des matériaux lithiques dans cette région appui le continuum culturel Prédorsétien-Dorsétien observé ailleurs. / The dominant cultural material on Nunavik’s archaeological sites is lithics. As a result they constitute an important source of information on prehistoric lifeways. The lack of lithic raw materials resarchs carried out on the east coast of Hudson Bay gave us the opportunity to focus on a source in this area. The objective of this thesis research was to characterize one component of the geological formation: Nastapoka chert.
In order to do this, X-ray fluorescence was chosen. The results demonstrate that it is difficult to construct a unique geochemical pattern for the source because of its variability.
To complete the portrait, we take into account the technological use of Nastapoka chert by the Paleoeskimo groups by comparing three site’s studies (GhGk-4, GhGk-63 and IcGm-5). This analysis of the exploitation of this material reveals a developement from Predorset to Dorset that supports the idea of cultural continuum between the two periods.

L’enjeu actuel autour de la gestion des MIDND est de valoriser, dans la mesure du possible, les mâchefers sur les chantiers routiers à maîtrise d’ouvrage publique ou privée, tout en tenant compte de la réglementation en vigueur et en réalisant un suivi rigoureux dès l’élaboration jusqu’à leur mise en place. Un des freins de la valorisation des MIDND est relatif aux critères de qualité de plus en plus contraignants. Parmi les polluants potentiels qui peuvent entrainer des restrictions environnementales d’utilisation, les éléments trace métalliques (ETM), dont le comportement en fonction des paramètres que sont la maturation et la granulométrie reste peu connu, sont des plus préoccupants. Dans cette thèse, l’approche développée a permis de définir les conditions favorables au relargage des ETM suivants : Cu, Cr, Pb, Sb, Ni et Zn. La démarche scientifique s’articule autour de trois grands axes : Le premier axe concerne le développement d’une méthode de caractérisation pertinente des MIDND (notamment de la fraction organique et de la fraction minérale polluante) afin de pouvoir mieux juger de leurs qualités. La matrice initiale d’étude prélevée sur un site industriel ainsi que ses fractions granulométriques, ont été finement analysée, tant d’un point de vue physico-chimique qu’en ce qui concerne leur comportement environnemental. La modélisation géochimique basée sur ces données physicochimiques et de lixiviation permet d’identifier des phases majoritaires et de simuler le comportement du matériau dans la perspective de prévoir l’évolution du MIDND en conditions spécifiques de stockage ou de valorisation. Le deuxième axe décrit l’impact des conditions de maturation, et du fractionnement granulométrique sur l’évolution de la qualité des MIDND. Trois différentes conditions de maturation (naturelle sur plate-forme; accélérée sur petit tas; forcée) ont été étudiées. Les résultats montrent que les changements dans la composition chimique et minéralogique des MIDND étudiés et de leurs fractions granulométriques sont plus significatifs lorsque la maturation progresse. La maturation naturelle accélérée et la carbonatation forcée limite la lixiviation du Cu, du Pb et du Zn. Au contraire, la lixiviation du Cr, de Sb, des Cl- et des SO42- augmente lorsque le pH diminue. Le troisième axe est dédié à l’étude de l’utilisation des MIDND comme matière première secondaire dans un scénario de valorisation alternatif aux utilisations en sous-couches routières classiquement pratiquées. Le scénario consiste à incorporer les MIDND dans un coulis auto-compactant utilisable pour l’élargissement de chaussées ou le comblement de fossés. Une formulation a pu être définie. La conformité des performances mécaniques, géotechniques et environnementales aux spécifications d’usage normalisées, est encourageante pour les potentiels utilisateurs des MIDND en technique routière. / Current challenge of Municipal Solid waste Incineration (MSWI) bottom ash management lays in its valorization, mainly to be used in road construction projects. The process must take into account environmental regulations and conduct rigorous monitoring from production to utilization. One constraint in the assessment of MSWI bottom ash is related to quality criteria which is becoming more restrictive. Among potential pollutants that can cause environmental use restrictions are metal trace elements (MTE), whose behavior based on weathering and grain size is not yet well known and represent one of greatest concern. In this thesis, the developed research approach defined the favorable conditions for Cu, Cr, Pb, Sb, Ni and Zn release. The aforementioned approach is based on three pillars: The first pillar focuses on the development of a pertinent characterization method for bottom ash (including the polluting organic and mineral fraction) aiming at a better assessment of its properties. The initial study matrix, taken from an industrial site, was carefully analyzed from both, physico-chemical and environmental performances. Geochemical modeling based on physico-chemical and leaching data, allowed to identify the main mineral phases and to simulate material behavior with the purpose of predicting the evolution of MSWI bottom ash in specific storage or valorization conditions. The second pillar describes the impact of weathering conditions and size partitioning on MSWI bottom ash quality evolution. Three different weathering conditions (natural on industrial scale heap; accelerated on small heap; and forced) were studied. The results showed that changes in the chemical and mineralogical composition of MSWI bottom ash as well as in its size fractions are more significant when the weathering proceed. The natural accelerated weathering and the forced carbonation limited the leaching of Cu, Pb and Zn, whereas, the leaching of Cr, Sb, Cl and the SO42- increased as pH decreased. The third pillar focuses on the study of MSWI bottom ash alternative utilization as secondary raw material for the typically practiced road sub-layers construction. It consisted of incorporating MSWI bottom ash in a self-compacting material used for pavement sub-layer or coated road shoulders structures. A formulated material was obtained by mixing MSWI bottom ash, water and cement as a hydraulic binder. The results of the mechanical, geotechnical and environmental assessment are promising for MISWI bottom ash potential use in road construction.

ABSTRACT This thesis deals with the development of silicate based reverse grouts for the purpose of rehabilitation of sewers. The work also examines the possibility of substitution of basic input raw materials with secondary raw materials, meaning replacements of both filler components and binder components. As secondary raw materials, we refer to wastes from the production process which, after the necessary treatment, are used in another production. The development and experimental verification of the functionality of the developed grout was focused mainly on the use of secondary raw materials as much as possible, while maintaining or even improving its physical and mechanical properties. Based on the results of the work, it can be stated that with a 100% replacement rate of filler components in combination with 20% replacement rate of binder components, it is possible to largely maintain the properties of the material, or even optimize them. The results of the thesis also point to the possibility of reducing the economic and environmental demands of production of building materials.

Schwingungs- und geräuschdämpfende Leichtbauelemente im Maschinenbau auf Basis von Konstruktionswerkstoffen aus HolzEichhorn, Sven, Eckardt, Ronny, Müller, Christoph 29 June 2010 (has links)
Im Forschungsprojekt wurde eine Bauweise für ein modular aufgebautes und flexibel einsetzbares Gestellsystem entwickelt, welches durch integrativen Leichtbau den vorteilhaften Einsatz von Holzfurnierlagenverbund-werkstoffen (WVC) für Verarbeitungs- und Fördermaschinen ermöglicht. Die ingenieurtechnisch relevanten Eigen-schaften des Holzbasiswerkstoffs (u.a. strukturelle Dämpfungseigenschaft) wurden ermittelt und darauf aufbauend ein Profil als Strukturelement des Gestellsystems entwickelt. Hier lag besonderes Augenmerk auf der Gestaltung des Profilquerschnitts. Es wurden verschiedene Querschnittsgeometrien vergleichend untersucht, wobei sich ein ge-schlossenes Kastenprofil als günstig erwies. Ausgehend vom entwickelten Profil wurde die für ein modulares Sys-tem notwendige Verbindungstechnik konzipiert. Folgend wurde schrittweise die modulare Bauweise in Strukturein-heiten umgesetzt sowie parallel Untersuchungen zu Steifigkeit und Festigkeit der Profile fortgeführt. Während der Erprobung von Struktureinheiten unter praxisnahen Bedingungen wurden gewisse konstruktive Verbesserungspo-tentiale deutlich. Diese Änderungen sowie die gewonnenen Erkenntnisse aus der Material- und Strukturprüfung kamen im Prototyp zur Umsetzung. Schallpegelprofile verschiedener fördertechnischer Anlagen und des entwickel-ten Prototypen wurden abschließend aufgenommen und verglichen. / Aim of the present study was to develop a modular designed and widely employable rack system. Positive properties of wood based materials (WVC) in lightweight structures were identified and integrated for the application in fabri-cation and conveyer technologies. For this purpose relevant properties of wood materials had been investigated (e.g. damping properties). The results of these analyses were the basis for the development of a beam profile, the basic structural design element for the future rack system. The most effort was put into finding the optimal beam cross section. Several different cross sections had been compared, a square sectional beam profile showed the best per-formance. Based on the square sectional beam profile proper connection methods for the modular rack were devel-oped. Structural units were subsequently realized step by step, while the investigation of stiffness and strength of the profiles was continued. The testing of the structural units under simulated field conditions revealed some minor constructional improvement capabilities. The constructional improvements and the knowledge from the material and profile testing were put into practice in the prototype. Finally sound measurements were carried out to compare several conveyors made of different materials (including the prototype) in respect to the emitted sound level.

Responsible Production of Materials in the light of Sustainable Development Goal 12: Development of a systemic assessment scheme for an environmentally responsible material production cycle – Case study aluminiumFeiel, Susanne 02 February 2022 (has links)
Ziel dieser Arbeit war es, systematisch Möglichkeiten zur gezielten und qualitativen Entkopplung von Umweltauswirkungen im Rahmen der Verantwortungsaussage des SDG 12 in Bezug auf einzelne Stoffströme zu identifizieren. Zu diesem Zweck wurde ein Schema zur Bewertung der Verantwortung erstellt, das sich auf die Systemgrenzen der Umwelt und die systemischen Produktionsströme einzelner Materialien konzentriert. Einzelne generische Prozesseinheiten wurden identifiziert und Umweltindikatoren, die Planetary Boundaries, ausgewählt. Das entwickelte Schema wurde dann in einer Fallstudie mit dem Beispielmaterial Aluminium auf seine Funktionalität getestet, indem das Material mit den Umweltindikatoren in jeder Prozesseinheit seiner spezifischen Produktionsroute kalibriert wurde. Dabei zeigte sich, dass die entwickelte Bewertung in der Tat eine systematische Identifizierung des Entkopplungsraums innerhalb eines Materialflusses ermöglicht und somit als funktional und übertragbar auf andere Materialflüsse und andere Dimensionen wie die soziale oder wirtschaftliche sowie die Verbrauchsdimension angesehen werden kann.:1 Introduction

12 Bibliography / This thesis aimed to systematically identify opportunities for targeted and qualitative environmental impact decoupling within the responsibility proposition of SDG 12 in relation to single material flows. To do this a responsibility assessment scheme was created that focused on the system boundaries environment and systemic production flows of single materials. Individual generic unit processes were identified and environmental indicators, the Planetary Boundaries, were chosen. The scheme designed was then tested in a case study for its functionality with the example material Aluminium, through calibrating the material with the environmental indicators in each unit process of its specific production route. This showed that the assessment designed indeed allowed for systematic identification of decoupling space within a material flow and can thus be considered as functional and transferrable to other material flows and other dimensions like the social or economic, as well as the consumption dimension.:1 Introduction
