This dissertation traces the concept of national memory through the five architectural spaces that have housed the dead body of Mustafa Kemal Atat&uuml / rk: the bedroom in Dolmabah&ccedil / e Palace, Istanbul, where he died on 10 November 1938 / the catafalque in the Grand Ceremonial Hall of Dolmabah&ccedil / e Palace used between 16-19 November 1938 / the official funeral stage in Ankara designed by Bruno Taut and used between 20-21 November 1938 / the temporary tomb in The Ethnographic Museum, Ankara / and Atat&uuml / rk&rsquo / s mausoleum, Anitkabir, in use since 10 November 1953. The dissertation firstly narrates the construction of a Turkish collective memory by means of architectural representation and politicization and secondly the physical and ideological maintenance of this memory by means of additions and subtractions to these spaces.

Drawing on earlier research and theories regarding female political representation and its effects on gender equality, the attempt in this study is to investigate whether political gender quotas, legislated in the constitution, has a positive association and effect on gender equality in a society. A substantial number of studies supports the notion that quotas increase female representation in the political context. Yet, few studies examine gender quotas effect on women’s everyday life. The study investigates the variation in gender equality amongst new democracies where countries with gender quotas are compared to countries without. The overall findings appoint that political gender quotas demonstrate more far-reaching effects than to increase the number of women elected. Having a high female representation does affect women’s everyday life and a quota will increase gender equality in a society. This should be regarded as a solid argument in favour of an implementation of a gender quota. Additionally, the results from this study indicate that Anne Phillips theory the Politics of Presence, which points out the importance of having high female representation, does exert an effect.

Nessa perspectiva, a constituiÃÃo de organismos colegiados (Conselhos Gestores de: PolÃticas PÃblicas, Fundos e Equipamentos Sociais), que caracteriza o modelo da gestÃo participativa, representa o surgimento, em cena, de novos espaÃos pÃblicos de participaÃÃo. à nesse espaÃo pÃblico e representativo do Conselho Escolar que se intenta analisar a participaÃÃo pelo viÃs da discursividade, apropriandoâse do discurso em sua materialidade, ou seja, considerando-o como processos dotados de aÃÃo e transformaÃÃo. O tema: A participaÃÃo no discurso do Conselho Escolar à uma incursÃo pelo campo teÃrico da anÃlise do discurso. O objetivo central à analisar os efeitos de sentidos dos dizeres sobre participaÃÃo produzidos pelos diferentes sujeitos que compÃem o Conselho Escolar de uma escola pÃblica do ensino fundamental do municÃpio de Fortaleza. Aborda-se como referencial teÃrico-metodolÃgico os pressupostos de Michel PÃcheux e Mikhail Bakhtin no desenvolvimento dos dispositivos de anÃlise do discurso. Quanto aos procedimentos tÃcnico-metodolÃgicos, este realizar-se-à mediante estudo de caso comportando trÃs momentos: delimitaÃÃo da unidade-caso, coleta de dados e analise e interpretaÃÃo destes. / Every historic moment generate a new morphology in participative processes with new subjects, structures, actions, instruments and ways. In this perspective, the constitutions of collegiate organisms, that characterize participation management model, represent the emerging of new publics spaces of participation. It is in this public and representative space of the school council which it was intended to analyze the participation by the theoretical field of the discourse analysis, appropriating of the discourse in its materiality, considering itself as processes endowed with action and transformation. The research was restricted to effect of sense of the voices about participation produced by the different subjects that constitute a school council. It was approached as theoretical-methodological reference the presuppositions from Michel PÃcheux and Mikhail Bakhtin in the development of the devices of discourse analysis. This work is about a case study of a public elementary school from Fortaleza city, in which the adopted technical-methodological processes split into three steps: delimitation of the case-unit; data acquisition â through interview with council members and access to documents; analysis and interpretation theses. We conclued this work whereas the collegiate organ of school council is endowed of discursives motions, of senses that not only unsubject the representative multiples, reproducing an institutional discourse of the participation as, also, a creative, dialogico discourse, originated of an exercise politician of the popular participation. A dissertação analisa a presença e a atuação de mulheres negras na representação política no Estado do Rio de Janeiro, tomando como base de comparação as duas últimas eleições, de 2002 e 2006. Nestas eleições consideram-se as candidatas aos cargos de deputada estadual, de deputada federal e, no caso da eleição do ano de 2006, também a disputa para o cargo de senadora. O trabalho visa se inserir num cenário mais amplo que é o da representação política negra e feminina, diminuta quantativamente no país. Assim, a problemática analisada é a incorporação ou não de bandeiras feministas e anti-racistas pelas candidatas. Os instrumentos utilizados para esta análise foram o Horário Gratuito de Propaganda Eleitoral destas duas eleições e as entrevistas com candidatas negras que participaram da pesquisa qualitativa. A partir desta ótica, são consideradas questões pragmáticas que envolvem a busca pela eleição e as perspectivas de gênero que se inserem no campo da disputa eleitoral, um espaço tradicionalmente ocupado por homens brancos. A dissertação conclui indicando que o evidenciamento e o reconhecimento racial é tímido em disputas eleitorais o que não acontece com a perspectiva de gênero - , mas não significa a negação destes. / The dissertation analyzes the presence and the performance of black women in the representation politics in the State of Rio de Janeiro, taking as base of comparison the two last elections, 2002 and 2006. In these elections the candidates to the positions of state deputy consider themselves, of representative and, in the case of the election of the year of 2006, also the dispute for the senator position. The work aims at to insert itself in a scene ampler than it is of the representation the politics black and, feminine miniature quantitatively in the country. Thus, the problematic one analyzed is the incorporation or not of flags feminists and anti-racists for the candidates. The instruments used for this analysis had been the Gratuitous Schedule of Electoral Propaganda of these two elections and the interviews with black candidates who had participated of the qualitative research. From this optics, pragmatic questions are considered that involve the search for the election and the gender perspectives that if they insert in the field of the electoral dispute, a traditionally busy space for white men. The dissertation concludes indicating that the evidence and the racial recognition are shy in electoral disputes - what does not happen with the gender perspective -, but does not mean the negation of these.
