[en] MEMORIES ABOUT ETHNIC-RACIAL SOCIALIZATION OF BLACK FAMILIES / [pt] MEMÓRIAS SOBRE SOCIALIZAÇÃO ÉTNICO-RACIAL DE FAMÍLIAS NEGRAS

CLAUDINA DAMASCENA OZORIO 09 May 2024 (has links)
[en] The overall objective of this study was to investigate the socialization trajectories and ethnic-racial socialization in Brazilian Black families, encompassing children s interactions in the familial and school environments from early childhood to the end of adolescence. To this end, the work was structured around three main thematic axes: Axis 1 delves into Black families in the Brazilian socio-historical context, narrating the history and trajectory of each interviewed family. Axis 2 discusses socialization trajectories and ethnic-racial socialization within both the family and school environments, focusing on the childhood and adolescence of the participating children. Axis 3 approaches the families educational projects for their offspring, seeking to understand how the children experienced the educational projects drawn up by their caregivers in practice. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 10 families, consisting of 10 mother-child dyads (10 mothers and 6 daughters and 4 sons), in addition to 1 mother who gave her account despite her son s inability to participate, totaling 11 participating mothers. The results were obtained using content analysis (Bardin, 2016) and the IRaMuTeQ software. The findings underscored the necessity of parental investment in extra-maternal care within the offspring s socialization trajectory, with fundamental support from the support network, particularly grandmothers, sisters, aunts, and neighbors. In general, the caregiving environments of the interviewed families involved multiple caregivers, with various individuals acting as interaction partners. However, the maternal figure remained the primary caregiver, whereas the paternal figure was the secondary one, although almost always absent or inaccessible. The narratives emphasized the importance of school selection, which is directly linked to the experiences at school – albeit such experiences are beyond the control of the mothers educational projects –, such as racism, discrimination, bullying, and prejudice. Despite limitations, such as the multiplicity of themes approached and the need for further expansion and depth, this research contributes significantly to the literature on Black families, socialization trajectories, and ethnic-racial socialization of Black children. Nonetheless, it also provides valuable contributions to the fields of clinical, social, and developmental psychology, promoting reflections on the intricate dynamics within Black families and the ethnic-racial socialization among this group. Furthermore, it is also suggested that this research can be used as a reference for the construction and development of theoretical and practical tools for both clinical and social intervention.

IVONE GOULART LOPES 30 April 2019 (has links)
[en] The research aims to investigate the educational project of the Salesians Sisters at the Teacher Training College N. S.Auxiliadora (Our Lady Help of Christians) in Campos/RJ, and the identity weaving of the catholic teacher: 1937-1961. The period comprises the negotiations to establish the course until the publication of the LDB, n. 4.024/61. It is a pioneering pedagogic experience of catholic teachers training, in Campos, in northern Rio de Janeiro. The aim is to understand the Congregation educational program through the analysis of the profile of the Salesian teacher as well as the process of identity construction of the normalist (female teacher trainee). To understand how this school translated, through its practices, its teaching methods, its environment, the movement of school modernization of the time. To observe the school and religious forms of socialization which make up the identity of the students, the religiousethos which pervaded the social setting and the professional experience.Privileged sources are the school documents: Foundation Minutes, school prospectus, Chronicle of the College, the School regulations, Reports of the Principals and Inspectors, Inspectors visiting terms, Official correspondence, Inventory of the furniture and material used in the classes, Programs of the Disciplines, Enrollment and Diplomas books, testimonials from former students and old teachers, bibliographical survey of magazines and Salesian newsletters, city newspapers and Pastoral letters of the Diocesan Bishops, among other documents, which characterize an important collection from the regional education history point of view. The sources come from the College archive, three private archives of the Salesian provinces (SP, MG, RJ), the Salesian Center for Documentation and Research /MG, of the National Library/RJ and Archives of the Diocese of Campos. It is based on the approach by François Dubet on the professionals that relate to the work on the other, which assumes that the work in and on the otherin its origins was designed as an institutional program, designating a mode of socialization or a type of relationship with the other. In Claude Dubar about the professionalization process, understood as a socialization process, which is developed along the professional trajectory of the individual. The professional identity of the normalists(female teacher trainee) is marked by the specificity of the socialization method of the Salesians which implied the internalization/externalization of the catholic ethos. The catholic religious educator was a model for many normalists, young women who sought in the teaching profession classical education, the economic stability, social recognition and professional achievement. The evidence of the practices developed for the training of the teacher was detected by amorevolezza (affection), by engaging and continuing education in the association of former students.

Abstract: This thesis has as its aim of analysis the pedagogical practices and the scholar culture in the Colégio Salesiano Santa Teresa sited in Corumbá-MS. A religious catholic institution in educative activities since 1899. For this research, we elected the years of 1972 to 1987. The proposal of understanding the pedagogical practices and the scholar culture by the school parties (festivities), scholar celebrations and the civic culture in the Colégio Salesiano Santa Teresa in Corumbá-MS, are related with the interest in knowing correctly the relation of the school with de city and the imaginary that is built from it, in relation to the local inhabitants. Our goal was to comprehend what values and feelings were created or spread by the school parties (festivities) and scholar celebrations and the purposes or intentions that the school party (festivity) carried. In this research, we are working with the information about the festivities that happened in the Colégio Santa Teresa, between 1972 and 1987, considering the organization present in the school calendar in that period, the notes from the book where the activities were registered, the official letters (dispatched, received, circulars) and the testimonies of ex-students, ex-teachers and ex-employees, diaries and official programs. We used as well as sources iconographic registers, newspapers and bibliographic references, once the salesianos were already studied by other authors. This research allowed us to elucidate the complexity of the reality and dynamic of the school showing the parties (festivities) and celebrations that are present in the scholar calendar as elements of the scholar culture that suffer modifications during the seasons and the purposes that produce them, not depending if they are political, social, economic, religious or of socialization. And the subjects that elaborate it or that are part of it as actors or spectators, as well transformed them and are transformed by it. In this way, the historic look of festivities and celebrations in the scholar universe gave the possibility to revisit the past, build interpretations, explanations and to understand the school by its inside. / Doutorado / Educação, Conhecimento, Linguagem e Arte / Doutor em Educação
