Bitencourt, Loriége Pessoa January 2014 (has links)
In this work I present a doctoral thesis entitled: "Higher Education pedagogy potentiated in reflective dialogue on mathematics education: when three generations of educators meet”. The question that guided the research was: In what sense the reflective dialogue on mathematics education from three generations of professors constitutes a potentiating process for higher education pedagogy? To perform the research, a collaborative working group was proposed and developed, which put together through in service training, three generations of mathematics professors related to the Mathematics Licentiate Course of Mato Grosso State University- UNEMAT/Cáceres. This in service training took place in nine monthly meetings and had as its theme: "The mathematics education at School and at the university: possible approaches?". The three generations of mathematics teachers gathered in the collaborative working group were: teacher educators (TE); student teachers (TS); assistant researchers (AR) and school teachers (ST). The collaborative working group related the academic space and the school space, with the debates and agendas that guide the particular realities of each educational institution, which influence the making of mathematics education. This collaborative working group served as an investigative space, that was produced as a qualitative research with the precepts of the case of study (YIN; ANDRÉ) and participatory research (BRANDÃO; CHIZZOTTI; BRANDÃO & STRECK). 42 members, including 17 teacher educators (TE), 12 student teachers (TS), 02 assistant researchers (AR) and 11 school teachers were surveyed. Before starting the continuing education meetings, 16 individual interviews with professors lecturers were performed, over the same event; data was collected through filming, reflective digital diary notes and questioners. The data were organized in a database composed of three parts: Text Reference (TR) - Part 1 - Interviews; TR - Part 2 - Reflective digital diary and TR - Part 3 - Transcripts of audio footage of meetings. To analyze the data I have used content analysis techniques (BARDIN, FRANCO).The thesis is organized into three parts and in its development I established a permanent dialogue between empiricism and theory (FRANCO & KRAHE; SOARES & CUNHA; TARDIF, LESSARD; ZABALZA; PIMENTA & ANASTASIOU; CUNHA, among others). The analysis of the experience of action and investigation allows me to state that a reflective dialogue on mathematics education improves the higher education pedagogy when it provides dialogue opportunities among the professors and teachers and they are allowed to speak and hear about the realities of their day to day work of teaching, horizontally, without hierarchies and fears. As the main learning of this research, I highlight the importance of reflective dialogue and collaborative work for the in service training of teachers and faculty; the emerging rift of the distances between school and university, and the university’s pedagogy and mathematics education debates are missing, however urgent to be put into practice in licentiate courses. As possible paths from the dialogues set, I evince that higher education pedagogy at Mato Grosso State University – UNEMAT, should be the center of institutional debate and the relationship between school and university for teaching programs must be reinvented.

No. of bitstreams: 1 Denis Konrado Fehlauer.pdf: 1390822 bytes, checksum: 077080630b0dc07c76b60af48073c20d (MD5) Previous issue date: 2016-03-30 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPES / The objective of this investigation was to verify whether before autonomy and vocation that people have, as well as the possibility to receive government support and incentives, Universities within the great ABC area in São Paulo State, Brazil; meet the recommendations of the current PNPG (National Post Graduation - Graduate School - Plan). Therefore, fifty-eight dissertations and one thesis on applied social sciences published between 2011 and 2014 under the following educational institutions were analyzed - Universidade Metodista de São Paulo - UMESP (São Paulo Methodist University); Universidade Municipal de São Caetano do Sul - USCS (São Caetano do Sul University); Universidade Federal do ABC - UFABC (ABC Federal University, and Faculdade de Engenharia Industrial - FEI (Industrial Engineering College). The analysis was performed in the realm of four axis; two in the organizing PNPG 2011-2014 axis: the third axis was - the perfection of evaluation and its expansion into other system CT&I segments (Academic background for graduate school students directed toward extra academic activities and the business/corporate segment); and the fourth axis - the multiple and interdisciplinary factors between the main graduate school characteristics and important topics of research (such as promoting, by means of programs, concentration areas and research lines, the convergence of themes and problem sharing, opposing to its mere association or overlapping). The present study - qualitative, bibliographic, documental, exploratory, descriptive, state of knowledge type - was developed through a documental research method and categorial thematic content analysis. Data collecting was performed through digital repository of thesis and dissertations kept on internet base platforms by the Universities which scientific production was investigated. After data analysis, it was clearly demonstrated that approximately 68,96% of the scientific production in the applied social sciences, published by the Greater ABC Universities, between 2011 and 2014, correspond to the current PNPG expectations on regards to the constant recommendations of the third axis. In regards to the recommendations written in the fourth axis, we can see that around 31,03% of the selected research work meet the expectations of the Plan, presenting in its structure, according to the theoretical foundation used in this study, interdisciplinary characteristics / O objetivo desta investigação foi verificar se, diante da autonomia e vocação que possuem, bem como da possibilidade de receber amparo e incentivos governamentais, as universidades pertencentes à região do Grande ABC atenderam as recomendações feitas pelo PNPG vigente.

How are learning processes affected when two types of schools in Sweden collaborate? : A study of a vocational education program in collaboration between University College in Sweden and Swedish Folk High School

Lagerlöf, Malin January 2021 (has links)
Education is an important part of the development of, and democratic processes in, any society. This study aims to explore the experiences of studying in a program combining two types of schools in Swedish, University College and Folk High School. In the theory section of the study, the similarities and differences of the two types of schools are described, as well as the prerequisites under which they operate. The study uses the sociocultural perspective as its starting point. The program is described as a unity with three parts; local congregation, Folk High School and University College. The respondents do report differing perceptions on how unified the educational form actually is. They do, however, mostly express positive views of the program as well as a large willingness to recommend it to others, and generally describe the program as both substantial and well crafted. The analysis shows how didactics and methodology from both types of schools are being used, and how this too is being perceived differently by the respondents. The study shows that this combination of two types of schools is being perceived as a positive for both the students’ learning and coming working life, and that it facilitates an educational form with more learning tools than the type of school individually could offer. Previous research also shows that this type of combination has a positive impact on learning, as well as the importance of a good study environment and general well-being to achieve good study results. However, the study also notes the relatively small amount of previous research into the field of adult education, pointing to the need for continued research into this field, to further our understanding of how to create good learning environments. /
Betygsdatum 2021-06-07

Collaborating for Convergence: Instructional Interventions for Children's Reading of Expository Text

Martin, Andrea 27 January 2010 (has links)
There are mounting concerns to ensure that children are prepared for the literacy demands of the 21st century. Reading inability at 9 years of age portends a lifetime of illiteracy for the majority of struggling readers. Given the greater weight placed on expository text from the junior grades onwards, children with reading disabilities become increasingly constrained by their reading deficits, putting them at risk of falling ever further behind their normally achieving peers. This ethnographic study, extending over an 8 month period and finishing on the last day of the school year, targeted older poor readers at the junior level. Less is known about their reading deficits, relative to younger struggling readers. Therefore, the first of three principal objectives aimed to extend understanding of the processes whereby older poor readers interact with expository text by providing a qualitative finer-grained assessment of their particular difficulties than presently exists. The second objective was focused on developing and implementing a cohesive program of research-based interventions that targeted critical requirements of successful interactions with expository text, including the ability to summarize, locate information, and attend to text structure. The third objective involved establishing and describing a collaborative, intensive research partnership with two classroom teachers at the junior level to implement and evaluate research-grounded interventions for their students with reading difficulties, working within the context of the regular classroom. The dual researcher role, as collaborator with the teachers and instigator of the intervention program, shaped a reconfigured model of special education, responsive to a diverse range of student needs and abilities, and situated within a content-rich, challenging curriculum. Parallel lessons afforded the opportunity to tier instruction with increasing intensity for the children with the highest needs. Results showed the critical importance of aggressively promoting self-efficacy, self-regulation, and metacognitve awareness for older struggling readers. As these children’s strategic repertoire increased, so, too, did their comprehension and comprehension-monitoring. Differentiated instruction that was tiered, flexible, and responsive supported social inclusion and social collaboration. Social context and authentic content became interwoven and instrumental in engaging the children, maintaining their motivation and sustaining their commitment to read to learn. / Thesis (Ph.D, Education) -- Queen's University, 2010-01-27 15:10:03.202
