Ovlivňování úspěšnosti a přesnosti patovacího úderu pomocí drilových cvičení / Influencing the success and accuracy of putting stroke using drill exercisesBrožka, Matěj January 2018 (has links)
Title: Influencing the success and accuracy of putting stroke using drill exercises Objectives: The aim of this study was to determine the influence of specific training conditions (short and long drills) on the success and accuracy of putting stroke of amateur golfers. Methods: Ten amateur golfers participated in this study (age = 35,0 ± 12,9 years; height = 176,7 ± 10,1 cm; weigth = 73,9 ± 17,7 kg; Hcp = 27,7 ± 13,4; game experiance = 4,2 ± 2,6 years). The design of this study consisted of data collection before training, a training session, and data collection after training. Before and after intervention each player made 10 putts from distance of 0,9 m, 1,5 m, 3 m, 8 m, 10 m a 12 m. During 4 weeks of intervention, the research file was divided into two grups (short and long drills). To determine the relationship between parameters success and accuracy, game level (hcp), game experience and training frequency was used Pearson's correlation coefficient (p < 0,05). To determine the statistically significant difference between the pre and post intervention test was used a paired t-test. Results: When evaluating all players together before and after intervention, we found higher success of short putts (by 11 %, p < 0,001) and higher accuracy of long putts (by 15,8 %, p < 0,001). A group of short...

Educational Decision making among Grade 9 learners in Cape TownBegbie, Ceclin Kirsty January 2018 (has links)
The need for higher skill levels in South Africa’s labour market warranted an
investigation into why some learners from poor communities make the decision to leave high
school at the end of Grade 9, whilst other learners continue to Grade 12 or tertiary education.
This exploratory, longitudinal study investigated the Educational Decision Making (EDM) of
16 Grade 9, Coloured, male learners from poor neighbourhoods in Cape Town. This study
identified the socio-economic factors that influenced participants’ EDM to consider leaving
the school system at the end of Grade 9, or continue their education. The study applied Miles
and Huberman’s (1994) approach to identify links between the socio-economic factors that
influenced EDM, and to understand the learners’ educational context. These interactions were
investigated using Bronfenbrenner’s Ecological Systems Framework, comprising 5 traversing and Huberman’s (1994) approach to identify links between the socio-economic factors that influenced EDM, and to understand the learners’ educational context. These interactions were investigated using Bronfenbrenner’s Ecological Systems Framework, comprising 5 traversing layers, namely, the micro-system, meso-system, exo-system, macro-system, and chronosystem (Watts, Cockcroft & Duncan, 2009). This qualitative study drew on semi-structured, one-on-one interviews with learners in their Grade 9 year in 2015, and makes use of followup telephonic interviews (2016) and enrolment records (2017) to verify the findings. All learners made the decision to continue to Grade 12 or tertiary education. Examples of negative influences on EDM included socio-economic challenges presented by South Africa’s transition to democracy (Chrono-system), which impacted on other systems, including inadequate school facilities (exo-system), a family history of school dropout (mesosystem), and financial instability (micro-system). Examples of positive influences on EDM included financial stability in the household (mesosystem), and the resilience and agency of learners (microsystem).

The Impact of Import Competition from China on the Skill-Bias of Manufacturing Employment across South African Regions between 2001 and 2011Matumba, Diana Mukovhe 23 April 2020 (has links)
South Africa and China established their first official diplomatic ties in 1998. A decade later in 2008 China had become South Africa’s largest bilateral trade partner which presents both complementary and competitive outcomes for the South African labour market. This study explores the competitive outcomes, particularly the impact that China has had on the skill bias of manufacturing employment within South Africa’s local municipalities between 2001 and 2011. The study follows on from two theories of trade: the Heckscher-Ohlin theory with its Stopler-Samuelson theorem, and specific factor theories. The identification method employed in this study was developed by Autor, Dorn and Hansen (2013) and seeks to exploit variation across South African municipalities which stems from initial differences in industry specialisation and instrumenting for South African imports using changes in Chinese imports by other low- and middle-income countries. The data used in the current study is from the UN Comtrade as well as South African population census data from 1996, 2001 and 2011. This study makes two main contributions to the literature by looking at the impact that import competition has on manufacturing employment in local labour markets, and how this impact varies by skill set and gender. The main finding of the study was that Chinese import exposure was biased against low-skilled workers as it resulted loss of employment for the low-skilled workers, and had a minimal effect on the employment of high-skilled workers.

Être et existence sur les scènes théâtrales contemporaines françaises : Stanislas Nordey, Claude Régy, François Tanguy / Being and existence of French contemporary stages : Stanislas Nordey, Claude Régy, François TanguyRajalu, Rachel 06 December 2016 (has links)
The purpose of this dissertation, at the crossroad of philosophy and theatre studies, is twofold. On one hand, the dissertation aims to point out how a study of theatre helps extend and renew problems of aesthetics concerning the ontological status of art. On the other hand, this work tries to suggest an interpretation of the aesthetic experience of theatrical stages. We are looking into in the experimental conditions of the stage and its effects on our existence, based on the analysis of the artistic approaches of Stanislas Nordey, Claude Régy and François Tanguy, along with a rising director, Simon Gauchet. Our methodological approach combines the contributions of the phenomenologies of perception (Merleau-Ponty) and of event (Claude Romano) with those of the Anglo-American pragmatism (John Dewey, Richard Shusterman, Stanley Cavell) as well as a pragmatism motivated by the Anglo-American tradition (Marielle Macé, Sandra Laugier). Theatre participates to individualization processes which can be interpreted as elements of stylization of our life. It also yields an ethical power by helping individuals to develop care skills. As such, it is possible to define theatre as an art of existence

The Notion of Progress of an Afghan Woman in Society: Moving Beyond Foreign AidGrigorian, Hilda 01 January 2016 (has links)
Since 2002, foreign aid has been invested to create social change in Afghanistan, but little is known about the impact on women in rural areas. This case study focused on a single Afghan woman in a rural province who received a foreign aid grant for building baking skills and broader economic development of 20 rural women. The theoretical framework was based on Haq and Sen's development theory. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with the key participant, her husband who was identified as the main source of support, and four female beneficiaries. These data were inductively coded and then subjected to thematic analysis. The primary findings of this study was that this foreign aid project succeeded in building skills for involved individuals; though wider spread of foreign aid benefits were limited by what is perceived as an inequitable distribution of assistance to rural areas, as well as Afghanistan's political, cultural, economic, and security environment. Findings from all participants in this case study (n=6) supported Haq and Sen's theoretical prediction that given the proper technical resources, an individual is capable of being self-reliant and avoiding poverty. The respondents concluded that short term change is attainable and beneficial, but will not be sustained without long-term cultural change regarding the roles of women and allocation of foreign aid. The social implications of this research may provide opportunities for Afghan community and women councils to conduct training for women with an objective to bring awareness of the importance of their participation in the economy. The findings will be compiled into a concept paper to be submitted to relevant ministries amid formulation of national capacity building policy for women in the rural area

To Enforce, or Not To Enforce: A Study of Drug Use Vs Drug Dealing in Socially Disorganized CommunitiesRoberts, Preston Cody 04 May 2018 (has links)
Previous research suggests that competition in the low-skilled labor market associated with Latino immigration is related to crime for rural whites and urban blacks. Furthermore, studies suggest that communities can selectively enforce norms regarding crimes. This study tested whether low-skill job competition associated with Latino immigration is correlated with higher rates of drug use than drug dealing, and higher rates of instrumental crimes than expressive crimes. Furthermore, this study tested whether urban blacks were more affected than urban whites, and rural whites more than rural blacks. The results did not support the original hypotheses, except that urban blacks were more affected than urban whites. This suggests support for Anderson’s Code of the Street. However, differing crime increases between rural and urban areas suggests that Anderson’s theory may not work everywhere. Lastly, the control variables suggest that the race-crime relationship may be more complex when other factors are controlled for.

An Investigation of Current Practice in Management Rotations in Dietetic InternshipsVaterlaus, Emily K. 12 March 2012 (has links) (PDF)
Background: Leadership and management skills are critical to moving the dietetics profession forward; acquisition of those skills begins in the Dietetic Internship (DI). This study examined DI program components related to higher mean scores on the Foodservice and Management domain of the Registration Examination for Dietitians and compared Program Director and Preceptor perceptions of management rotation structure.
Methods: All 242 DI Program Directors (excluding sponsoring institution) received a 47-item electronic questionnaire. Directors provided contact information for up to three DI management rotation primary preceptors. Preceptors received a 35-item electronic questionnaire regarding their perception of interns' management skill development. Analyses included Stepwise regression, Fisher's Exact test, Pearson's correlation, and Chi-squared.
Results: 125 Program Directors (51%) and 63 of 100 preceptors (63%) responded. Greater time spent working with front line staff rather than upper management levels was associated with lower Foodservice and Management domain scores on the RD Examination, but program emphasis/concentration and length of time in management rotations were not related. Directors and Preceptors have similar perceptions of most aspects of management rotations, but they perceive barriers to management experiences differently. More Preceptors than Directors felt sensitive issues like budget and personnel, students' attitude and knowledge base, and inadequate time frame interfered with "appropriate exposure to practical management" (p < 0.01).
Conclusion: Structuring management rotations to spend more time working at upper levels of management and addressing preceptors'perceptions of barriers to meaningful experiences should increase the effectiveness of management skill acquisition and attitudes toward management among interns.
