Studie rekonstrukce úpravny bazénových vod letního koupaliště Břeclav / The study of the reconstruction of the pool water treatment plant of the summer swimming pool Břeclav

Urban, Jaromír January 2020 (has links)
The subject of the diploma thesis is to introduce the problems of communal spas, namely the treatment of water for swimming pools. Following is a proposal of reconstruction of the treatment plant for a real, operated area of the summer swimming pool. The thesis is divided into theoretical and practical part. At the beginning of the theoretical part I make research of the history of balneology, the effects of bathing and swimming on the human body, possible resources for spa purposes and hygiene requirements for these waters. I also describe commonly used methods of treatment of swimming pool water. In the practical part I first describe the summer swimming pool in the town of Břeclav. There is a description of the swimming pool, its history and equipment. In the next chapter I present the currently operated technological line. Based on a personal visit, the next chapter evaluates the technical condition of the plant. Based on this evaluation, a new technological line for treatment of swimming pool water of the Břeclav summer swimming pool is proposed.

Vývoj mediálního obrazu Emila Zátopka v souvislosti s vybranými letními olympijskými hrami / Development of the media image of Emil Zatopek in connection with selected Summer Olympic Games

Fišarová, Veronika January 2019 (has links)
The master thesis is focusing on media image of Emil Zátopek using the method of qualitative content analysis. Five periods of time, each of them six months long and sixteen years apart, are examined. These periods of time are represented by the years 1952, 1968, 1984, 2000, 2016 in which the Summer Olympic Games were held. As a representative sample of the printed media during the time of communist hegemony in Czechoslovakia Rudé právo, Mladá fronta and Československý sport that has been thematically involved (there has been no analysis for this one during the year 1952 since the first print was published in 1953) were chosen. The printed media after the revolution time are represented by Právo, Mladá fronta Dnes and Sport. The thesis brings the answers to the main research question how the media image of the most successful Czechoslovak runner was developed in the context of political and that time contemporary situation and it also explains the other questions that are focused on the causes of this possible change and the difference between the presentation of mass media during the communist and later also democratic regime. The features and concepts of media image construct as well as social situation in the country, history of the chosen media and media function in the given periods of time...

The quasi 16-day wave in the summer midlatitude mesopause region and its dependence on the equatorial quasi-biennial oscillation

Jacobi, Christoph 09 November 2016 (has links)
From daily estimates of the summer mesopause region zonal prevailing wind measured at the Collm Observatory of the University of Leipzig long-term variations in the period range of planetary waves (10-20 days) are detected. Although the direct propagation of these waves from lower layers into the mesosphere is not possible because of the wave filtering in the summer stratospheric and mesospheric easterlies, in some years oscillations are found that can be connected with planetary waves, supporting the theory of the propagation of these waves from the equatorial region to the midlatitude and polar upper mesosphere along the zero wind line. The interannual variability of these waves shows a dependence on the equatorial quasi-biennial oscillation (QBO), so that in general during the east phase of the QBO the planetary wave activity is small, while during the QBO west phase it can be larger. The influence of the QBO on the planetary wave activity is modulated by the I I-year solar cycle, so that the strongest signal is found during solar maximum.

Černošice, pražské letovisko v závěru 19. a v prvých desetiletích 20. století. Příspěvek k poznání vzniku a vývoje rekreačních aktivit obyvatel měst v období industrializace / Černošice, Prague's summer resort at the end of 19th and in the first decades of 20th century. Contribution to the recognition of birth and development of the recreational activities of urban inhabitants in the industrial era

Šímová, Karolína January 2014 (has links)
This thesis deals with the phenomenon of the suburban summer resorts and the recreational activities of the inhabitants of Prague in the second half of 19th century and first decades of 20th century. At first, the work introduces the following topics: a general characteristic of the industrialization era, an origin and initial development of the middle class, a villa with the garden on the periphery of the industrial city as a specific manifestation of the middle class culture, a phenomenon of the garden cities, recreational activities as a specific way of the middle class recreation. Then, the summer resort is introduced. This summer resort is Černošice, one of the most famous summer resorts of this era, there were other famous summer resorts of the inhabitants of Prague situated in his neighbourhood, for example Všenory or Dobřichovice. This work is looking for the answers to the following questions: What kind of factors or events led to the birth of this summer resort? (for example: When was the summer resort created? Why was it atractive for the inhabitants of Prague?)? How did the life in the summer resort look like (for example: What kind of recreational activities were the visitors of the summer resort engaged in? What kind of people was building the villas here?)? What part did the...

Changes in lake-water organic carbon over recent centuries in northern Sweden, Västerbotten : Past and present mechanisms, and the potential implications on mercury

Petter, Magnusson January 2023 (has links)
Due to the current increase in lake water total organic carbon (LW-TOC), many studies have investigated the long-term dynamics using lake sediments. However, these have mainly been focused on Sweden’s south and south-central parts. Thus, this study aimed to investigate how LW-TOC concentrations in northern freshwater systems have changed over the recent few centuries and what effect potential trends or patterns may have on mercury (Hg). A multi-proxy study was conducted that included geochemical characteristics, inferred LW-TOC, chlorophyll a, and land-use observations acting as a supplement to modern land-use changes. The results show that LW-TOC concentrations display tendencies to a decreasing trend in the deepest part of the sediment, which could be related to traditional land-use activities. This is followed by a more rapid decrease reaching equally low LW-TOC concentrations as in southern and south-central Sweden, here suggested being caused by catchment disturbances superimposed by acid deposition. During the recent decades, LW-TOC displayed increasing concentrations, possibly due to the combined effect of the reduction of the abovementioned factors, but also likely to be superimposed by an increase in temperature similar to what has been shown for Canadian lakes. These results align broadly with lakes in southern and south-central Sweden, although with potentially different forcings in the earliest part of the sediment. This contemporary increase in LW-TOC is accompanied by an increase in Hg in two lakes, with both LW-TOC and Chl-a show possible relations.

Norrtullsgatan living street : A public life investigation and design proposal / Norrtullsgatan en levande gata : Ett gestaltningsförslag och ett undersökande av offentligt liv

Rivas Plaza, Veronica January 2021 (has links)
‘Norrtullsgatan Living Street’ is a public life investigation and design proposal to increase accessibility and attractiveness for people along Norrtullsgatan in Vasastaden, Stockholm. It is a response to the Levande Stockholm Programme, an urban place-making strategy to test potential pedestrian streets by restricting traffic and introducing pop-up furniture during the summer and winter months to create pedestrian-friendly environments. Vasastaden is located North of the city center with the major public transport hub of Odenplan and a significant number of people walking along its narrow sidewalks towards Drottninggatan. This area is an important pedestrian zone that connects the city center to other parts of Stockholm with great potential to activate already existing public spaces and create a network of livable streets. This thesis aims to investigate possible long-term strategies based on public life studies, a comprehensive street analysis, and urban place-making interventions that focus on pedestrians, cyclists, and the experience at the street level to create a ‘living street’. This project wants to strengthen and highlight the benefits of walking not only as a choice of mobility but also as a social, economic, and well-being outcome for the city. Moreover, it instigates further the concept of what makes a walkable city. People want to feel comfortable and safe during their walk but they also want to have a pleasurable experience. Urban design qualities, by all means, influence those choices. By following the evaluation of the temporary design during the summer and winter streets, this project re-assess those strategies to proposed permanent design to promote inclusive public spaces. As a result, this thesis emphasizes the importance of design strategies that are well-integrated into a community by taking into consideration site-specific conditions and users. At the same time, it hopes to contribute with input to the already tested pedestrian zones to become meeting places with rich content, high urban qualities, and a strong identity.
