This index plays the role of a kind of “measure” of how the space of m-homogeneous polynomials from E to F (or the space of multilinear operators of E1×···×Em to F) are far from being the space of absolutely summing m-homogeneous polynomials (or with the space of multiple summing multilinear operators). In some cases the optimal index of summability is presented. / Neste trabalho, estudamos a noção de índice de somabilidade para pares de espaços de Banach. Esse índice desempenha o papel de um tipo de \medida" de como o espaço dos polinômios m-homogêneos de E em F (ou o espaço dos operadores multilineares de E Em em F) está longe de coincidir com o espaço dos polinômios m- homogêneos absolutamente somantes (ou com o espaço dos operadores multilineares multiplo somantes). For the class of absolutely (p; q; r)-summing mappings we obtain some inclusion and coincidence results and show that the ideal of absolutely (p; q; r)-summing polynomials is not coherent, according to the notion of coherent ideals due to D. Carando, V. Dimant and S. Muro. In order to bypass this deficiency, we introduce the concept of multiple (p; q; r)-summing multilinear and polynomial operators and show that, with this new approach, the ideal of multiple (p; q; r)-summing polynomials is coherent and compatible with the ideal of absolutely (p; q; r)-summing operators.

The summing amplifier and the quantizer form two of the most critical blocks in a continuous time delta sigma (CT ΔΣ) analog-to-digital converter (ADC). Most of the conventional CT ΔΣ ADC designs incorporate a voltage summing amplifier and a voltage-mode quantizer. The high gain-bandwidth (GBW) requirement of the voltage summing amplifier increases the overall power consumption of the CT ΔΣ ADC. In this work, a novel method of performing the operations of summing and quantization is proposed. A current-mode summing stage is proposed in the place of a voltage summing amplifier. The summed signal, which is available in current domain, is then quantized with a 3-bit current mode flash ADC. This current mode summing approach offers considerable power reduction of about 80% compared to conventional solutions [2]. The total static power consumption of the summing stage and the quantizer is 5.3mW. The circuits were designed in IBM 90nm process. The static and dynamic characteristics of the quantizer are analyzed. The impact of process and temperature variation and mismatch tolerance as well as the impact of jitter, in the presence of an out-of-band blocker signal, on the performance of the quantizer is also studied.

abstract: Sound localization can be difficult in a reverberant environment. Fortunately listeners can utilize various perceptual compensatory mechanisms to increase the reliability of sound localization when provided with ambiguous physical evidence. For example, the directional information of echoes can be perceptually suppressed by the direct sound to achieve a single, fused auditory event in a process called the precedence effect (Litovsky et al., 1999). Visual cues also influence sound localization through a phenomenon known as the ventriloquist effect. It is classically demonstrated by a puppeteer who speaks without visible lip movements while moving the mouth of a puppet synchronously with his/her speech (Gelder and Bertelson, 2003). If the ventriloquist is successful, sound will be “captured” by vision and be perceived to be originating at the location of the puppet. This thesis investigates the influence of vision on the spatial localization of audio-visual stimuli. Participants seated in a sound-attenuated room indicated their perceived locations of either ISI or level-difference stimuli in free field conditions. Two types of stereophonic phantom sound sources, created by modulating the inter-stimulus time interval (ISI) or level difference between two loudspeakers, were used as auditory stimuli. The results showed that the light cues influenced auditory spatial perception to a greater extent for the ISI stimuli than the level difference stimuli. A binaural signal analysis further revealed that the greater visual bias for the ISI phantom sound sources was correlated with the increasingly ambiguous binaural cues of the ISI signals. This finding suggests that when sound localization cues are unreliable, perceptual decisions become increasingly biased towards vision for finding a sound source. These results support the cue saliency theory underlying cross-modal bias and extend this theory to include stereophonic phantom sound sources. / Dissertation/Thesis / Masters Thesis Bioengineering 2015

Cette thèse est consacrée à l’extension au cadre Banachique de la notion d’opérateur de Hilbert-Schmidt. Dans un premier temps, on étudie d’une part les opérateurs p-sommants dans un espace de Banach X vers un autre espace de Banach Y et d’autre part, les opérateurs gamma-radonifiants dans un espace de Hilbert vers un autre espace de Banach.Dans un second temps, on s'intéresse aux opérateurs gamma-sommants dans des espaces de Banach, qui coïncident avec les opérateurs de Rademacher-bornés, ce qui nous amène aux opérateurs presque sommants. In a first step, we study p-summing operators from a Banach space X into a Banach space Y and gamma-radoniyfing operators from a Hilbert space into a Banach space. In a second step, we discuss gamma-summing operators between Banach spaces, which coincide with Rademacher-bounded operators, which leads to the notion of almost summing operators. Initially, we present basic results from Functional Analysis that are necessary for the development of the text and then we deal with sequence spaces which will be used to de ne and study the classes of operators involved in this work, as necessarily the class of the absolutely summing operators. We also study the sequence space of the Cohen- Khalil strongly (q; p)-summable sequences and the sequence space of the Cohen strongly p-summable sequences, as a particular instance of the former. From this, we de ne the class of the Cohen strongly p-summing operators and the class of the Cohen-Khalil strongly (s; r; p)-summing operators which, under certain conditions, are equivalent. We conclude with a study, from the viewpoint of the operator ideal theory, using the abstract environment created by G. Botelho and J. R. <p>Fluid simulating is one of the most difficult problems in computer graphics. On the other hand, water appears in our life very frequently. This thesis focuses on water simulating. We have two main methods to do this in the thesis: the first is wave based water simulating; Sine wave summing based and Fast Fourier Transform based methods are all belong to this part. The other one is physics based water simulating. We make it based on Navier-Stokes Equation and it is the most realistic animation of water. It can deal with the boundary and spray which other method cannot express. Then we put our emphasis on implement by the physics method using Navier-Stokes Equation.</p>
