Efeito da suplementação de L-carnitina combinada ao exercício aeróbio sobre a composição corporal, lipidemia, gasto energético e desempenho físico de adultos do sexo masculino e feminino / The effect of combined L-carnitine supplementation to aerobic exercise on body composition, lipid, energy expenditure and adult physical performance of male and female

O uso de suplementos alimentares à base de carnitina tem se tornado bastante popular dentre atletas. Nos seus possíveis efeitos biológicos, constam o emagrecimento e o melhor condicionamento aeróbio frente ao exercício físico. Embora o uso difundido também entre não-atletas, há poucas evidências científicas nestes grupos populacionais, particularmente adultos. O objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar os efeitos da suplementação de L-carnitina associada ao exercício físico aeróbio sobre a composição corporal e lipídica sanguínea, gasto energético de repouso e desempenho aeróbio de adultos clinicamente saudáveis. Foram selecionados 21 indivíduos voluntários de 40 a 58 anos de idade, de ambos os sexos (9 homens e 12 mulheres), com índice de Massa Corporal (IMC) entre 25 e 35 kg/m2, participantes de protocolo de exercícios físicos aeróbios supervisionados (80min/sessão, 3-5x/semana, 70 a 80% da freqüência cardíaca máxima para idade) há pelo menos 12 semanas. Após avaliação inicial (M0), foram divididos aleatoriamente em grupos: suplementado (G1; N=11), recebeu 1,8g/dia de L-carnitina e placebo (G2; N=10), recebeu maltodextrina, ambos mantidos nesta intervenção dietética por 30 dias consecutivos. Concluído o período dietético (M1), foram repetidas as avaliações de M0, nas situações de repouso (peso, estatura para cálculo do IMC, circunferência de abdômen, % de gordura, gasto energético de repouso, ingestão alimentar, colesterol e frações e triglicerídios) e esforço físico em esteira ergométrica (VO2máx, limiar anaeróbio, quociente respiratório e variação dos ácidos graxos livres plasmáticos). Houve ligeiro aumento do V02máx e limiar anaeróbio em ambos os grupos e reclassificação do LDL-c no grupo placebo. Os demais valores de ingestão alimentar, composição corporal, lipidemia e gasto energético não sofreram influência significativa do período de exercício ou tratamento dietético. As concentrações de ácidos graxos livres aumentaram durante o esforço físico em esteira, mas sem significância. Conclui-se que o efeito adicional da suplementação de L-carnitina em adultos exercitados regularmente é mínimo nas variações da composição corporal e sanguínea, no gasto energético, uso de substratos energéticos e no condicionamento aeróbio. / The use of nutritional supplements such as carnitine has been widely spread over among athletes. The refered advantages are related to possible weight loss and cardiorespiratory fitness. However, besides widely used in active people (non athletes) there has been little scientific based evidences in this group, specifically in adults. The purpose of the study was to investigate the additional effects of L-carnitine supplemented to exercised subjects on their body composition, blood lipid profile, resting metabolic rate and aerobic performance. Twenty-one volunteers (9 males and 12 females), 40 to 58 years old, body mass index (BMI) values between 25 and 35 kg/m2, were engaged in aerobic exercise program (80 min/session, 3-5 days/week, 70 a 80% of maximum heart rate-HRmáx) at least 12 weeks. After the first test (M0) the subjects were randomly assigned in two groups: L-carnitine (G1; N=11), receiving orally L-carnitine (1,8g/day) or placebo (G2; N=10), receiving maltodextrine during 30 consecutive days. After the dietary intervention (M 1), the assessment tests were repeated in both, resting (body mass, height, BMI calculation, resting energy expenditure, dietary intake, body fat and lipid profile) and exercised condition in a treadmill (VO2max, anaerobic threshold, respiratory exchange ratio and the variation on free fatty acids levels). VO2max and anaerobic threshold were increased in both groups and LDL-c downgraded in the placebo group. No significant changes were found due to either training or dietary supplementation in dietary intake, body composition, lipid profile and energy expenditure. Plasma free fatty acids levels increased, but not significantly, during the 30 min treadmill exercise. Thus, the additional effects of L-carnitine supplementation in moderate active adults were not enough to promote significant changes in body composition, lipid profile, energy expenditure, substrate utilization and aerobic fitness.

Caracterização funcional e estrutural de inibidores de fosfolipases A2 isolados do plasma de serpente Bothrops jararacussu / Functional and structural characterization of phospholipase A2 inhibitors from Bothrops jararacussu snake plasma

As fosfolipases A2 (PLA2s) de peçonhas de serpentes compreendem um grupo de enzimas de massas moleculares variáveis entre 14.000 e 18.000, e são responsáveis por vários efeitos tóxicos induzidos pela peçonha destes animais, tornando-se necessária a busca por inibidores naturais de PLA2¬s. O presente trabalho propôs a caracterização bioquímica, farmacológica e estrutural de duas proteínas inibitórias isoladas do plasma da serpente Bothrops jararacussu (BjussuMIPs), que neutralizam as atividades enzimáticas, tóxicas e farmacológicas de diferentes PLA2s. Estes inibidores foram isolados por cromatografia de afinidade em miotoxina-Sepharose, demonstrando que ambos são glicoproteínas com massas moleculares de 24.000 (BjussuMIP) e 23.500 (BjussuMIP) para os monômeros e de 120.000 (BjussuMIP) e 160.000 (BjussuMIP) para os oligômeros. O tratamento dos BjussuMIPs com a N-glicosidase F reduziram os seus pesos moleculares para aproximadamente 18.000, mas não afetaram suas atividades inibitórias sobre PLA2s, sugerindo que os carboidratos tem pouco ou nenhum papel na associação dos BjussuMIPs com estas enzimas. A análise do BjussuMIP por dicroísmo circular mostrou 44% de -hélice, 18% de folhas , 10% de voltas e 28% de estruturas aleatórias. O cDNA obtido por PCR a partir do fígado desta serpente revelou 432 pb (BjussuMIP) e 543 pb (BjussuMIP) que codificam para 144 e 181 resíduos de aminoácidos, respectivamente. O alinhamento da sequência de BjussuMIP com a de outros inibidores do tipo , denominados de PLIs, apresentou 73-92% de similaridade e o BjussuMIP mostrou 89-94% com inibidores do tipo PLIs. Os BjussuMIPs demonstraram ser relativamente estável a variações de pH (6-12) e temperatura, entretanto, perderam atividade inibitória quando submetido a altas temperaturas. A caracterização funcional indica que os BjussuMIPs apresentaram propriedades inibitórias sobre diferentes PLA2s isoladas de peçonhas de serpentes dos gêneros Bothrops e Crotalus. Ambos BjussuMIPs revelaram propriedades farmacológicas como a inibição das atividades fosfolipásica, anticoagulante, miotóxica, indução de edema, citotóxica, bactericida e letal. Os resultados obtidos demonstram que o BjussuMIP mostra maior afinidade sobre as PLA2s homólogas Lys49 como BthTX-I e PrTX-I, enquanto que o BjussuMIP apresenta-se mais específico para PLA2s Asp49, sugerindo uma especificidade entre os BjussuMIPs e tipos de PLA2s. Além disso, ambos os inibidores mostraram ser eficazes na suplementação do antiveneno botrópico em diferentes concentrações, resultando no aumento da capacidade do soro em neutralizar toxinas de serpentes. Os aspectos abordados neste trabalho poderão trazer informações complementares sobre possíveis mecanismos de ação, podendo resultar no melhor entendimento dos efeitos inibitórios exercidos pelos BjussuMIPs, assim como auxiliar o tratamento do envenenamento ofídico pela suplementação da soroterapia tradicional. / Phospholipases A2 (PLA2s) from snake venoms comprise a group of enzymes with molecular weights varying from 14,000 to 18,000, and are responsible for several toxic effects induced by the venom of these animals, making important the search for natural inhibitors of PLA2s. The present work proposed the biochemical, pharmacological and structural characterization of two protein inhibitors isolated from the plasma of Bothrops jararacussu snake (BjussuMIPs), which neutralize the enzymatic, toxic and pharmacological activities of different PLA2s. These inhibitors were isolated by an affinity chromatography on myotoxin-Sepharose, showing that both are glycoproteins with molecular weights of 24,000 (BjussuMIP) and 23,500 (BjussuMIP) for the monomers and 120,000 (BjussuMIP) and 160,000 (BjussuMIP) for the oligomers. The treatment of BjussuMIPs with N-glucosidase F reduced their molecular weights to about 18,000, but did not affect their inhibitory activity on PLA2s, suggesting that the carbohydrates have little or no role in the association of these BjussuMIPs with these enzymes. The analysis of BjussuMIP by circular dichroism showed 44% of -helix, 18% of sheets, 10% of turns and 28% of random structures. The cDNA obtained by PCR from the snake liver showed 432 bp for BjussuMIP and 543 bp for BjussuMIP, which encode for 144 and 181 amino acid residues, respectively. The alignment of the sequence of BjussuMIP with those from other -inhibitors (PLIs) showed 73-92% of similarity and 89-94% for the BjussuMIP compared to other PLIs. The BjussuMIPs showed to be relatively stable to changes in pH (6-12) and temperature, however lost of its activity when submitted to high temperatures. The functional characterization indicates that both BjussuMIPs presented inhibitory properties on different snake venom PLA2s from the genera Bothrops and Crotalus. Both BjussuMIPs showed pharmacological properties such as inhibition of phospholipase, anticoagulant, myotoxic, cytotoxic, bactericidal, edema-inducing and lethal activities. The results show that BjussuMIP presents higher affinity to Lys49-PLA2 homologous, such as BthTX-I and PrTX-I, while BjussuMIP is more specific to Asp49-PLA2s, suggesting specificity between BjussuMIPs and types of PLA2s. Moreover, both inhibitors proved effective in the supplementation of Bothrops antivenom at different concentrations, resulting in an increased capacity of serum in neutralizing snake toxins. The issues reported in this work could bring additional information on possible mechanisms of action and may result in better understanding of the inhibitory effects exerted by these BjussuMIPs, as well as assist the treatment of ophidian envenomations by supplementation of the traditional serum therapy.

One of the proposals to contribute to the achievement of this goal is the expansion of the school day. Although the debates on the subject can refer to an idea of recent and innovative proposal, in Brazil, experiences with full-time education focused for less economically favored social classes are realities for at least five decades. During this period, there were beginnings and closures cycles with these experiences. However, although there are several debates between advocates and opponents of this educational policy, there are not so many researches that address the impacts of these activities for teachers and students involved in these proposals. Through research that discusses and reflects on expansion programs of the school day, it is expected to be possible to ascertain whether the practice performed contributes to the goals proposed for the program. In this sense, through this study, it is intended to determine whether the activities in the area of environmental education, linked to programs of expansion of the school day in state schools of Cascavel-PR, contribute to the achievement of the main objective of the journey expansion programs school: reduce educational inequalities (BRAZIL, 2010). Therefore, Scientific Literacy indicators will be used to enable verifying the level of scientific literacy of students in the subjects addressed in the extracurricular activities they are enrolled. Analysis of the legislation was made which regulates the expansion of the school day, in the proposals of activities in the field of environmental education and also interviews with teachers and students involved in the activities. The different stages of the research show that some gaps in the legislation that regulates the extracurricular activities can negatively impact the development and results of the activities. Among the five analyzed activities, it was possible to realize the contribution of only one for Scientific Literacy of the students. It is noticed that there is still a long way to go in order that the extracurricular activities, at least in most cases, contribute to student learning and, consequently, for education. / Proporcionar uma educação que possa formar cidadãos críticos, atuantes e transformadores da sociedade, longe de ser um desafio contemporâneo, há muito permeia debates e inspiram teorias educacionais. Uma das propostas que visam a contribuir para o alcance desse objetivo é a ampliação da jornada escolar. Embora os debates acerca do tema possam remeter a uma ideia de proposta recente e inovadora, no Brasil, experiências com o ensino em tempo integral voltado para classes sociais menos favorecidas economicamente são realidades há pelo menos cinco décadas. Nesse período, houve inícios e encerramentos de ciclos com essas experiências. No entanto, embora haja vários debates entre os defensores e opositores dessa política educacional, não há muitas pesquisas que contemplem os impactos dessas atividades para professores e alunos envolvidos nessas propostas. Através de pesquisas que discutam e reflitam sobre programas de ampliação da jornada escolar, espera-se ser possível verificar se a prática realizada contribui para os objetivos propostos para o programa. Neste sentido, através da presente pesquisa, pretendeu-se verificar se as atividades na área de Educação Ambiental, vinculadas aos programas de ampliação de jornada escolar nas escolas estaduais de Cascavel-PR, contribuem para o alcance do principal objetivo dos programas de ampliação da jornada escolar: diminuir as desigualdades educacionais (BRASIL, 2010). Para tanto, os indicadores da Alfabetização Científica serão utilizados para possibilitar verificar o nível da Alfabetização Científica dos alunos nos temas abordados nas atividades em contraturno em que estão matriculados. Foram realizadas análises da legislação que regulamenta a ampliação da jornada escolar, nas propostas das atividades na área de Educação Ambiental e também entrevistas com professores e alunos envolvidos nas atividades. As diferentes etapas da pesquisa mostraram que algumas lacunas na legislação que regulamenta as atividades em contraturno podem impactar de forma negativa o desenvolvimento e resultados das atividades. Dentre as cinco atividades analisadas, foi possível perceber a contribuição de apenas uma para a Alfabetização Científica dos alunos. Percebe-se que ainda há um longo caminho a ser percorrido para que as atividades contraturno, pelo menos em sua maioria, contribuam para aprendizagem dos alunos e, consequentemente, para a Educação

Performance of concrete incorporating amorphous silica residue and biomass fly ash / Performance du béton intégrant les résidus de silice amorphe et les cendres des boues de désencrage

L'industrie du ciment est l'une des principales sources d'émission de dioxyde de carbone. L'industrie mondiale du ciment contribue à environ 7% des émissions de gaz à effet de serre dans l'atmosphère. Afin d'aborder les effets environnementaux associés à la fabrication de ciment exploitant en permanence les ressources naturelles, il est nécessaire de développer des liants alternatifs pour fabriquer du béton durable. Ainsi, de nombreux sous-produits industriels ont été utilisés pour remplacer partiellement le ciment dans le béton afin de générer plus d'économie et de durabilité. La performance d'un additif de ciment est dans la cinétique d'hydratation et de la synergie entre les additions et de ciment Portland. Dans ce projet, deux sous-produits industriels sont étudiés comme des matériaux cimentaires alternatifs: le résidu de silice amorphe (RSA) et les cendres des boues de désencrage. Le RSA est un sous-produit de la production de magnésium provenant de l'Alliance Magnésium des villes d'Asbestos et Thedford Mines, et les cendres des boues de désencrage est un sous-produit de la combustion des boues de désencrage, l'écorce et les résidus de bois dans le système à lit fluidisé de l'usine de Brompton située près de Sherbrooke, Québec, Canada. Récemment, les cendres des boues de désencrage ont été utilisées comme des matériaux cimentaires alternatifs. L'utilisation de ces cendres comme matériau cimentaire dans la fabrication du béton conduit à réduire la qualité des bétons. Ces problèmes sont causés par des produits d'hydratation perturbateurs des cendres volantes de la biomasse quand ces cendres sont partiellement mélangées avec du ciment dans la fabrication du béton. Le processus de pré-mouillage de la cendre de boue de désencrage avant la fabrication du béton réduit les produits d'hydratation perturbateurs et par conséquent les propriétés mécaniques du béton sont améliorées. Les approches pour étudier la cendre de boue de désencrage dans ce projet sont : 1) caractérisation de cette cendre volante régulière et pré-humidifiée, 2) l'étude de la performance du mortier et du béton incorporant cette cendre volante régulière et pré-humidifiée. Le RSA est un nouveau sous-produit industriel. La haute teneur en silice amorphe en RSA est un excellent potentiel en tant que matériau cimentaire dans le béton. Dans ce projet, l'évaluation des RSA comme matériaux cimentaires alternatifs compose trois étapes. Tout d'abord, la caractérisation par la détermination des propriétés minéralogiques, physiques et chimiques des RSA, ensuite, l'optimisation du taux de remplacement du ciment par le RSA dans le mortier, et enfin l'évaluation du RSA en remplacement partiel du ciment dans différents types de béton dans le système binaire et ternaire. Cette étude a révélé que le béton de haute performance (BHP) incorporant le RSA a montré des propriétés mécaniques et la durabilité, similaire du contrôle. Le RSA a amélioré les propriétés des mécaniques et la durabilité du béton ordinaire (BO). Le béton autoplaçant (BAP) incorporant le RSA est stable, homogène et a montré de bonnes propriétés mécaniques et la durabilité. Le RSA avait une bonne synergie en combinaison de liant ternaire avec d'autres matériaux cimentaires supplémentaires. Cette étude a montré que le RSA peut être utilisé comme nouveaux matériaux cimentaires dans le béton. / Abstract : Cement manufacturing industry is one of the carbon dioxide emitting sources. The global cement industry contributes about 7% of greenhouse gas emission to the earth’s atmosphere. In order to address environmental effects associated with cement manufacturing and constantly depleting natural resources, there is necessity to develop alternative binders to make sustainable concrete. Thus, many industrial by-products have been used to partially substitute cement in order to generate more economic and durable concrete. The performance of a cement additive depends on kinetics hydration and synergy between additions and Portland cement. In this project, two industrial by-products are investigated as alternative supplementary cementitious materials (ASCMs), non-toxic amorphous silica residue (AmSR) and wastepaper sludge ash (WSA). AmSR is by-product of production of magnesium from Alliance Magnesium near of Asbestos and Thetford Mines Cities, and wastepaper sludge ash is by-product of combustion of de-inking sludge, bark and residues of woods in fluidized-bed system from Brompton mill located near Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada. The AmSR is new industrial by-products. Recently, wastepaper sludge ash has been used as cementitious materials. Utilization of these ashes as cementitious material in concrete manufacturing leads to reduce the mechanical properties of concretes. These problems are caused by disruptive hydration products of biomass fly ash once these ashes partially blended with cement in concrete manufacturing. The pre-wetting process of WSA before concrete manufacturing reduced disruptive hydration products and consequently improved concrete mechanical properties. Approaches for investigation of WSA in this project consist on characterizing regular and pre-wetted WSA, the effect of regular and pre-wetted WSA on performance of mortar and concrete. The high content of amorphous silica in AmSR is excellent potential as cementitious material in concrete. In this project, evaluation of AmSR as cementitious materials consists of three steps. Characterizing and determining physical, chemical and mineralogical properties of AmSR. Then, effect of different rates of replacement of cement by AmSR in mortar. Finally, study of effect of AmSR as partial replacement of cement in different concrete types with binary and ternary binder combinations. This study revealed that high performance concrete (HPC) incorporating AmSR showed similar mechanical properties and durability, compared to control mixture. AmSR improved mechanical properties and durability of ordinary concrete. Self-consolidating (SCC) concrete incorporating AmSR was stable, homogenous and showed good mechanical properties and durability. AmSR had good synergy in ternary binder combination with other supplementary cementitious materials (SCMs). This study showed AmSR can be use as new cementitious materials in concrete.

The organization of motor maps in the human brain / L'organisation de plan moteur dans le cerveau humain

Ce travail s'intéresse à l'organisation fonctionnelle du système sensorimoteur. La somatotopie est une caractéristique essentielle de M1, mais l'organisation fonctionnelle des autres aires motrices (PM, SMA, et IPL) n'est pas encore clairement établie. Premièrement, nous avons exploré par IRMf l'organisation fonctionnelle sensorimotrice chez des sujets sains exécutant des mouvements simples. Nos résultats montrent que les représentations motrices sont organisées selon des synergies musculaires et qu'une organisation somatotopique, différente de celle de M1, existe dans l'IPL. Bien qu'elle fasse régulièrement l'objet de critiques, la DES est à la base de la plupart de nos connaissances sur le cortex moteur, que confirme les études en IRMf. Ainsi, en réponse au débat en cours, nous avons passé en revue les arguments récents confortant la confiance que nous pouvons accorder à la DES. Des études récentes concluent à l'implication du PPC dans l'intention motrice, mais le débat reste ouvert sur la relation entre intention et préparation motrices. Certains prétendent que l'intention serait le sous-produit de la préparation motrice, ne laissant aucune place à la volonté dans le contrôle moteur. Pour étudier cette question, nous avons mis en place une expérience comportementale, incluant des tâches de réaction simple et de Libet pour comparer les deux processus cognitifs. Nos résultats montrent que le temps de réaction entre intention interne et réaction motrice est égal à celui séparant commande externe et réaction motrice. Cela contredit donc l'affirmation selon laquelle la préparation motrice précèderait l'intention et donc que l'intention émergerait du processus d'intention motrice / In this thesis, I am interested in the functional organization of human cortical sensorimotor system. Somatotopy is the prominent structure of the functional organization in sensory and motor cortex. However, the structure of the functional organization in higher order motor area, such as IPL is little known. Therefore, in the first part, I study the functional organization of human sensory- and motor- related brain regions using fMRI, by guiding healthy subjects to perform simple repetitive movements of different body parts. Our results demonstrate that, 1) motor synergy is the neural basis represented in the motor cortex; and 2) somatotopic organization also exists in IPL but with different structure from that of sensorimotor cortex. Despite continuous criticism on DES, most of our primitive knowledge of the sensorimotor cortex comes from DES studies, and our fMRI result supports the findings of DES. In response to the ongoing debate on DES, in the second study, we review recent evidence to re-establish the confidence on DES. Accumulating evidence indicates that PPC is related to the emergence of motor intention. However, debate on the relation between motor intention and preparation never stops, some claims that motor intention is the byproduct from motor preparation, thus denying the volition of human motor control. Besides this complexity, we design a straightforward behavior experiment, including simple reaction task and Libet task, in order to compare the cognitive process of motor preparation and motor intention. Our result shows that RT from internal motor intention to motor output is equal to the RT from external cue to motor output, thus rejecting the possibility that motor preparation starts in advance of motor intention and doesn't support that motor intention arises from the process of motor intention

Le pouce opposable de la main joue un rôle essentiel dans le comportement humain, permettant une prise bien plus précise que celle des singes avec les pouces opposables. Comment le cerveau contrôle t-il les mains aussi précisément? Dans le cadre de cette thèse, nous avons étudié comment différentes régions du cerveau dédiées au contrôle moteur, en particulier le cortex moteur (M1) et l’aire motrice supplémentaire (AMS), contribuent à une pince pouce-index précise. Les résultats de nos études révèlent que des neurones dans l’AMS, en complément de ceux dans M1, communiquent directement avec les motoneurones de la moelle épinière contrôlant les muscles de la main. De plus, SMA communique aussi efficacement que M1 avec les muscles de la main, alors que chez le singe, celle avec M1 est plus efficace. Cette différence fonctionnelle dans la voie AMS-muscles entre le singe et l’Homme pourrait expliquer la plus grande capacité de ce dernier à contrôler finement la force produite par les doigts. / The human hand's opposable thumb plays a large role in human behavior, allowing for a grip far more precise than that of monkeys with opposable thumbs. However, it isn't well understood how the brain controls the hands in such a precise way. In these studies, we investigate how different parts of the brain dedicated to motor tasks, in particular the motor cortex (M1) and the supplementary motor area (SMA), contribute to a precise thumb-index finger grip. Our experiments suggest that some neurons in the SMA, in addition to those well-described in M1, may connect directly to the motoneurons in the spinal cord controlling the hand muscles. Moreover, we found that SMA communicates with the hand muscles as efficiently as M1, while in monkeys, SMA communicates less efficiently than M1. This functional difference in the SMA-muscles pathway between monkey and human may account for the higher capacity of the latter to precisely control the force produced by digits.

This thesis is focused on products used to cover the needs of the people in retirement in the conditions of the Czech Republic, which can be a suitable complement to the constantly decreasing values of the retirement pension paid by the State. At first I will describe the current situation of the Czech pension system and its compulsory transformation into a multi-pillar system. The following chapters are devoted to analyzing individual products in terms of making savings for retirement. In the last chapter I compare different products and try to find out the best way how to secure individuals savings for life in the retirement according to a particular state revenues and expenditures.

L'opération de prévoyance / The functioning of supplementary corporate social protection

Les régimes de protection sociale complémentaire constituent des outils à la disposition des employeurs afin de fidéliser leurs salariés. S’inspirant directement des principes encadrant le fonctionnement des régimes de base de la sécurité sociale, l’opération de prévoyance se caractérise, en partie, par une forte dimension collective. La création et la mise en oeuvre des couvertures de prévoyance et de frais de santé s’accompagnent de la poursuite d’idéaux d’égalité, de solidarité et de mutualisation. L’adoption des textes fondateurs en la matière,les lois Evin et Veil, a conduit à l’institution de mécanismes propres à l’opération de prévoyance reflétant cette dimension collective. L’influence du droit des assurances est certaine et sa maîtrise indispensable pour assurer la pérennité des mécanismes de protection sociale d’entreprise. Terrain d’application de droits divers, l’opération de prévoyance se caractérise par la complexité des relations entre ses intervenants et des règles régissant son support, le contrat de d’assurance de groupe. L’optimisation de son coût pour l’employeur est au prix d’un effort de conciliation de ces différents instruments / Supplementary social protection schemes are tools which employers can decide to utilize inorder to retain their employees. Corporate social protection systems are directly based on the principles which rule the functioning of the basic social security scheme. Understandably, they are characterized by a strong collective dimension. Design and implementation of corporate social protection are therefore associated with the pursuit of ideals of equality,solidarity and risks or resources pooling. The enactment of the founding legislation in this area – i.e. the Evin and Veil Acts* – led to the setting up of mechanisms peculiar to corporate social protection systems and whose very existence is revealing of this collective dimension.The influence of insurance law is indisputable and having full command of it is naturally instrumental in ensuring the viability of corporate social protection. Corporate social protection systems indeed find themselves at the crossroad of several legal domains. They are therefore distinguished by the complexity of the relations between their actors as well as that of the rules governing the collective insurance contract through which they are implemented. Optimizing its cost is a performance employers can only achieve through a careful conciliation of these instruments.
