Avila, Tatiana Ramos January 2007 (has links)
This article aims at the research of the zooplanktonic community of the Tramandaí Beach – RS surf zone and at the identification of the seasonal variation of the species; its relations with wind patterns and water mass influence. To reach such objective, 24 samplings were done between August 2005 and August 2006 at intervals of fifteen days. Data about air and water temperature, salinity, wind speed, drift current, and wind direction were collected in the field at the same time of each sampling. The chlorophyll-a concentration was measured in laboratory as well as the identification and quantification of the zooplankton and its dry biomass. Copepoda was the most diverse group. Temora turbinata was the most important species followed by Acartia tonsa and Subeucalanus pileatus. The Mysidacea Metamysidopsis elongata atlantica expressed the highest frequency of occurrence and relative abundance among all taxa, corresponding to a considerable part of the total dry biomass. Zooplankton biomass and chlorophyll-a did not present significant correlation. The highest concentrations found were 96 mg.m-³ and 138 μg.L-¹ respectively. In spite of being originated in Subtropical and sub-Antarctic waters, the copepod Ctenocalanus vanus was frequently found in the study area. Because of the lack of knowledge about their behaviour and reproductive requirements, we accomplished laboratorial tests which allowed the observation of their kind of spawning and hatching. It also allowed estimating at the number of eggs, fecal pellets and number of nauplius in two different diets. Such data is going to be the basis for new studies to provide a higher understanding of the processes occurring in the water column of Tramandaí Beach - RS

No. of bitstreams: 1 Ana Carolina Costa Cruz.pdf: 984112 bytes, checksum: c9254736af80743005b2f8510a87c4e0 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2015-02-20 / We can observe that there are several strategies that guide the competitive, one of them is diversification. This paper presents a study of diversification in the strategic management of surfing teaching of micro enterprises (MEES) of Rio de Janeiro. In the case of MEES, there are characteristics that make it very important to diversify their survival and development. Therefore, we chose to study the subject in this type of company. The research analyzed the diversification process used by MEES of Barra da Tijuca and of Recreio dos Bandeirantes, in the city of Rio de Janeiro, in order to demonstrate the impacts resulting from the choice of such a strategy. Considering the diversification of products (goods and services), we discuss the strengths and limitations of the strategies that promoted diversification in the companies studied. The research was a multi-case study, exploratory and qualitative. In data processing, mainly collected through semi structured interviews, they were analyzed with the support of the analysis of Atlas-ti qualitative data software. Develop intra and intercasos analysis, thus explaining the diversification process in seven firms. Comparing the cases studied, we identified best practices in strategic diversification of business management. All MEES diversified horizontally, ie expanded their services to additional markets - for example, surf trips (trips to surfing) and stand up paddle lessons. We found that vertical diversification of some occurred with the manufacture or repair of surfboards. There were also independent diversification (diversification with little or no relation to the services already existed before): petitions, bike rentals, pilates and yoga classes, massage and hosting customers. In most cases investigated, the diversified leaders to meet a customer demand. Another opportunity arose to diversify the experiences, learning and internal knowledge available in the company, which shows that the allied training to previous experience is related to the diversification in their business option. It is noticed that there is a sporadic concern for strategic management in MEES and long periods of attention exclusively focused on operational and administrative problems. On the other hand, the MEES owner-managers demonstrate awareness of the need to innovate and generate a differentiation by creating new services. Although not always performed as intended, a common goal to managers of MEES is to achieve a given amount of sales level (or servicing), but with high quality, paying attention to the shortage of human resources who have education and training to work this type of company. Finally, diversification in MEES brought higher revenues for companies, promoted the loyalty of customers who engage in one or more of the company's services, and has become a differentiating from competitors, reducing competition by price. As a result of a diversification strategy, the MEES are surviving in the long term and stabilized the financial company.

Eye Tracking in User Interfaces / Eye Tracking in User Interfaces

Jurzykowski, Michal January 2012 (has links)
Navržený a realizovaný systém mapuje pozici bodu pohledu/zájmu (the point of gaze), která odpovídá souřadnicím v souřadnicovém systému kamery scény do souřadnicového systému displeje.

Matching handwritten notes using computer vision and pattern matching

Åslund, Conrad January 2022 (has links)
What people take for granted is not as easy for computers. Being able tojudge whether an image is the same even though it has a differentresolution or is taken from a different angle or light condition is easyfor humans but much more difficult for computers. Today’s mobiles aremore powerful than ever, which has opened up for more hardware-demandingalgorithms to be processed. How to effectively match handwritten notesto eliminate duplicates in an application. Are there better or worsemethods and approaches, and how do they compare to each other? Can youachieve both accuracy and speed? By analyzing images taken at differentangles, distances, and lighting conditions, different methods andapproaches have been developed and analyzed. The methods are representedin various tables where time and accuracy are represented. Eightdifferent methods were evaluated. The methods were tuned on one datasetconsisting of 150 post-it notes, each imaged under four conditions, leading to 600 images and 1800 possible pair-wise matches. The methodswere thereafter evaluated on an independent dataset consisting of 250post-it notes, each imaged under four conditions, leading to 1000 imagesand 3000 possible pair-wise matches. The best method found 99.7%, andthe worst method found 62.9% of the matching pairs. Seven of the eightevaluated matches did not make any incorrect matches.

All that glitters is not green : A Field Study On Green Marketing Communication Of A Surf Destination Versus Green Practices On Site

Eriksson, Tilde, Thunberg, Ellen, Johansson, Isabell January 2023 (has links)
The concern for environmental sustainability is constantly growing within tourist destinations. Environmental concern is leading to increased consumer awareness of green sustainable destinations. The growing interest in sustainability-based practices contributes to companies using green marketing communication to attract green conscious consumers. The study contributes to understanding how green marketing communication and green practices can create misleading perceptions and affect the consumer experience of a surf destination, before versus after arriving in Bali, Indonesia. The study was conducted using an abductive and qualitative research approach. The data was collected from ten semi-structured interviews with visitors at a surf camp in Canggu, Bali. Observations of communication material were also conducted to complete the interviews. The results indicated that there was a difference between the perceived destination image compared to what the consumers experienced on site. The company misled their consumers through claims about their green efforts in their marketing communication. These occurrences can be seen as greenwashing, since the surf camp insists to be more ecologically sustainable than they actually are.

On Surfing Films: An Aesthetic Study

Storm, John 01 January 2007 (has links)
Film has always been an integral part of the culture of surfing. In the early 1960's, a film by the name of The Endless Summer ushered in the wide acceptance of the medium of film by the culture. As the years progressed and the sport radically adopted new styles, attitudes and lifestyles, surfing films changed along with it. This thesis will show how the aesthetics of surfing films both are shaped by the culture from which they are found and how, in turn, they continually reshape the culture. By looking at the aesthetic theories of Hans-Georg Gadamer, Leo Tolstoy and Walter Benjamin, this thesis will academically survey the aesthetics of the films The Endless Summer, Momentum, and the works of filmmaker Jack Johnson and his studio The Moonshine Conspiracy. This study will provide insight into the significant aspect of , film in a culture so strongly defined by aesthetics, both from within and without.
