Docência em ciências da natureza nos anos iniciais de escolaridade: construção e articulação dos conhecimentos do professor / Teaching science in early school years: development and relationship of teachers knowledgeMaria Helena Blasbalg 29 November 2016 (has links)
Developing the necessary knowledge for the teaching of science has been a great challenge for teachers in the early years of schooling, as it requires the understanding of numerous tensions surrounding the process of teaching and learning in this area of knowledge. Taking into account a sociocultural perspective of education, this research aims to understand in greater detail how such teachers develop and mobilize their knowledge to teach science, based on the analysis of some practices and statements provided by the extension course \"Teaching of Science in the early years of schooling context\", held at the Faculty of Education of University of São Paulo in 2013. Under this approach, a multiple-case study was performed (YIN, 2010), from establishing the meaning core resulting from analysis of interviews, video recordings of activities and documents from five early school years teachers of the public education system (AGUIAR; OZELLA, 2013). The results show that, although the course has offered important contributions for early school years teachers to reflect on the teaching of science and develop important knowledge to their teaching, building the knowledge required for the establishment of the teaching and learning process is related to a number of factors, which include the experiences of teachers as learners, their graduation programs, ongoing and in-service training as well as the institutional position of the school in which they operate.

Previous issue date: 2011-11-09 / This study deals with the analysis of the learning process of some literacy teachers of the State Network of Education of St. Paul and tried to understand where and how this group of professionals needed to learn content literacy from the perspective of building knowledge. The hypothesis that guides this analysis is that a well-trained teacher is better able to intervene in the learning of their students and, gradually, to help guarantee the right of all children become literate. Also part of the hypothesis that by understanding the learning process of educators, the training initiatives can be more effective. Through empirical research, literature review and documentary analysis, this paper is organized as follows: Introduction is advertised in the career of the applicant and its relationship to literacy programs and proposals for training of teachers of public Education of Sao Paulo. The first chapter weaves the theoretical framework in which the training programs for literacy teachers are organized in Sao Paulo. In the second chapter is a brief history conducted training programs for literacy teachers in State Schools for the period 1984 to 2010, with an analysis of the consistency between the conceptions of teaching and learning, and conceptions that underlie the different institutional programs. In the third chapter describes the paths taken in the process of carrying out empirical research. The final remarks were taken up, in short, the discussions in the development of the chapters, recovering the essence of the analysis from the data collected, expressing the results of the investigation. Questionnaires were applied and profile interviews with 13 individuals involved with the Read and Write Program of State Schools of Sao Paulo, ranging from literacy teachers to the organizers of the program. The theoretical basis of this study was mainly based on the contributions of Piaget (1967), and Teberosky Blacksmith (1985), Smith (1989, 1992, 2002, 2007), Becker (1993), Coll (1992), Lerner (2002) and to guide the design and construction of knowledge dealing with the learning of reading and writing, teacher training and teaching of literacy and mathematics, Alarcão (2008), Lerner (2002) and Tardif (2002) which deals with teacher training. Data analysis was performed based on the rationale and procedures for thematic content analysis, according to Bardin (2008) and is expected to result in the preparation of assessments of conditions that must be considered in the training of literacy teachers. The results suggest some inferences about the learning of literacy teachers who are considered the proposals, may contribute to the efficiency of training programs, resulting in greater ownership of content by teachers involved in literacy, improving the quality of learning of literacy and, consequently, the formation of efficient readers and writers full.

University teacher training in Spain: Evolution and perspectives / La formación del profesorado universitario en España: evolución y perspectivasAramburuzabala Higuera, Pilar, Martínez-Garrido, Cynthia, García-Peinado, Rocío 10 April 2018 (has links)
In Spain, the first formal experiences in the field of University Teacher Training (abbreviated to FPU in Spanish) appear in the seventies, responding to isolated initiatives. In the eighties the first groups of FPU specialists are configured in scattered universities with the support of the government. Later, specialized departments arise that rely on the also emerging distance learning services and educational technology. Today, in a time when there are major changes in the university structure and the teaching models, it seems clear that the teaching and research staff will have to adapt to a very different environment. Thus, FPU becomes a powerful tool that can help improve the quality of university teaching and promote the professionalization of the teaching role. This article aims to make an approach to the experiences and research in the field of the FPU that were held in Spain from its origins. It also describes some of the emerging trends in the university system that will form the basis of a new University. This analysis will provide information to the debate on the professionalization of the teaching role that is currently taking place.

Approche par compétence dans la formation des enseignants de français langue étrangère : le cas du Vietnam / Competency-based approach in the training of teachers of French as a foreign language : the case of VietnamTrinh, Thuy Duong 14 December 2018 (has links)
This dissertation aims to investigate teacher’s competences in the face of various contextual changes in the Vietnamese tertiary education which require new perspectives and approaches in curriculum development. These competences are analyzed in the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR, 2001) on teachers’ professional competences and competent teachers. Data were collected from distributing survey questionnaires to in-service and pre-service teachers, interviews with university instructors. Data analysis reveals limitations in the current curriculum and helps to identify areas of competences that teachers of French in Vietnam need to develop. The research results consist of a competence framework with detailed descriptions for competence-based teacher training programs to be implemented.

An Analysis on the Experience of Mentoring Support in a College Alternative Teacher Certification ProgramKilgore, Debra Voutsinas 01 January 2011 (has links)
The purpose of this research study was to explore how college alternative teacher certification (ATC) participants experience mentoring support. The goal was to obtain a rich and deep understanding of the nature of the mentoring experience in a college ATC program through the perspectives of mentees and their mentors. The ATC program was the Educator Preparation Institute (EPI).
Semi-structured interviews were conducted. Eight individuals participated in the study, four were mentors and four were EPI students. A triangulated set of research methods for data collection and analysis was used, including member checks, validation forms, and peer reviews. All the interviews were transcribed; data was subsequently analyzed for patterns.
The findings indicated that students believed, while the course work was clear and well structured, the fieldwork aspect of the program was not. The topic of fieldwork disconnect between the college and the host schools was repeatedly observed as a challenge by the EPI students and identified as lack of support. All eight of the EPI study participants discussed lack of time and span of control issues in their interviews.
Some implications that surfaced from this study included the desire for more one-on-one time, eliminating confusion in arranging field experiences, and assistance in learning to direct their own experiences. Other implications that emerged from this study included offering diversified instruction to college EPI students, such as different courses depending on the intended grade level, and building a working relationship with the host schools that would expedite the training of the EPI students. Finally, more in-depth knowledge, and hands-on practice in the field was a perceived need by all the EPI students which calls for alterations in the EPI program design and number of faculty to operate each EPI program.

What's their game? - A study of teacher preparation for using digital game-based teachingLindskog, Jonas, Stavroulaki, Michelle January 2019 (has links)
The purpose of this study is to examine perceptions regarding digital game-based teachingand the extent to which teachers of English in Sweden have been prepared to use thisapproach. The basis for this study is the research on the effects of digital games for language learning and the perceived lack of the incorporation of these in teaching, creating a gap between student interests and teaching methods. Therefore, this study investigates the approach of teacher educators who are involved in the design of teacher training programs, as well as the perceptions of in-service teachers at secondary and upper secondary schools in Sweden. In-depth interviews and an online questionnaire were used to gather relevant data. The findings show that all teacher educators who were interviewed found digital game-based teaching to be a relevant approach, but they noted that it is not incorporated in their teacher training courses to a sufficient extent. Additionally, the great majority of in-service teachers did not perceive that they received any education on how to use digital games or game elements in their teaching, while most of them found it to be relevant and had used it to some extent. These results would indicate that digital game-based teaching should be integrated to a greater extent in teacher training programs, and steps should be taken to ensure that current research on the topic reaches the teachers out in the field.

A Qualitative Case Study of Developing Teacher Identity among American Indian Secondary Teachers from the Ute Teacher Training ProgramExton, Virginia Norris 01 May 2008 (has links)
The purpose of this foundational study was to explore the factors that contributed to developing teacher identity among new American Indian teachers. Multifaceted research into the history of American Indian education, the design of American Indian teacher training programs, and the beliefs and experiences of four American Indian secondary teachers gave this study a richly detailed context. Three overarching patterns emerged during the process of analyzing the data: (a) solidarity and independence, (b) habit and change, and (c) tradition and invention. From these patterns, six factors were identified as contributing to developing teacher identity. School-based experiences that affected developing teacher identity included cohort-based peer support, preparation for content area expertise, and teachers as role models. Personal, home, and community beliefs that affected developing teacher identity were as follows: giving back to American Indian communities, serving American Indian students, and becoming empowered as American Indian teachers. Participants in this study represented various tribe affiliations but were all registered students in the Ute Teacher Training Program from 2002 to 2005. The goal of this program, administrated by the Ute Tribe, was to mentor, train, and certify American Indian secondary teachers through an ongoing university education program offered at a rural location close to the Ute reservation. Recommendations in the final chapter of this qualitative case study may provide useful information for the design and implementation of future American Indian teacher education programs.
