Jak efektivně učit angličtinu s interaktivní tabulí / Teaching English Effectively with an Interactive Whiteboard

Dudáková, Luisa January 2013 (has links)
The diploma thesis Teaching English Effectively with an Interactive Whiteboard deals with the phenomenon of interactive whiteboards; their characteristics, installation in schools, possible ways of use and contributions to English lessons. The main aims are to examine the tool from various perspectives, to research the situation of IWBs in the Czech Republic and to provide technical as well as methodological support for teachers of English as a foreign language. The theoretical part summarises facts about interactive whiteboards on the basis of worldwide research and publications, whereas the main body is more teacher-oriented and focuses on the practical aspects of using IWBs at schools. Therefore, it includes a survey, guidelines with many ideas, sample activities created in the software ActiveInspire and accompanied by a detailed commentary, and finally, training for teachers which was organised in Prague. Digital appendices form an inseparable part of the thesis. Key words: interactive whiteboard (IWB), English teaching, methodology, technology, ActivInspire, guidelines

Jag är teknisk : Ett stöd i teknikundervisningen

Nylén, Emelie January 2014 (has links)
Technology has been neglected at schools, since the subject got it’s own syllabus. After making observations of teaching in various age groups, and also conducted interviews with teachers, their opinions and thoughts about technology were in accordance with the findings from the literature study. It seems that many teachers don’t have full confidence in their own knowledge of the subject, and they were also unsure on how to approach the subject in their teaching. The results of the studies inspired the creation of a teaching-aid which consists of two books, one is a teaching-guide and the other is for the pupils. It is based on Lpfö 98 (revised 2010), as well as the core content in year 1-3 and 4-6 from the technology syllabus in Lgr 11.

Multiple Symbolism of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in Academia: A Case Study of Technical Vocational Education and Training Institutions in Cape Town, South Africa

Van Der Poll, Arthur Emil January 2014 (has links)
Thesis submitted in fulfilment of the requirements for the degree Master of Technology: Information Technology in the Faculty of Informatics and Design at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology / It is well recognised that Information and Communication Technology (ICT) can enhance the quality of teaching and learning in tertiary education. Similarly, research has uncovered a range of factors that impede the successful adoption of digital technology for educational purposes. It remains unclear, furthermore, how educators in institutions of higher learning negotiate and frame their experiences with technology, and how this implicates the teaching and learning process. In this thesis, I will examine this problem, with particular focus on educators from Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions in the Western Cape of South Africa. In addressing the research problem, I use symbolic interactionism as analytic framework to unpack and reconstruct the meaningful engagement with technology. Understanding the multiple symbolic meanings that arise from interactions with technology can illuminate the diverse and nuanced perspectives that underpin the use of ICT in teaching and learning. A symbolic interactionist lens can shed further light on the matter of adoption, and allow this research study to make a practical contribution to the introduction of ICT tools in TVETs. To elicit and interpret the multiple meanings that TVET educators associate with ICT, I will employ photo-elicitation methodology, observation and fieldnotes, and self-reflection. Photo-elicitation involves participants taking photographs along the line of inquiry (e.g. the benefit of using technology to teach), after which they undergo a reflexive interview in which they reflect on the meanings of the photographs they have taken. I will couple direct participant observation (documented in field notes) with symbolic interactionism and photo-elicitation to contribute to the production of meaningful data. Finaly, I will apply guidelines of self-reflection by compiling a reflective journal. Self-reflection will allow me to reflect on my own thoughts about the social phenomenon under study and will enable me to understand how my own behaviour may affect the inquiry. The meanings that emerged from the data were grouped into interactionist themes through which the engagement with technology is framed and understood. Educators are generally appreciative of the support and creative capacities that ICT provides to teaching and learning. They are however frustrated with their own inability to fully understand technology and the lack of support from government and institutional decision makers. Despite educators’ struggles with ICT, they are determined to overcome challenges. These themes can be useful in the repositioning of technology for education in TVETs, and can support implementers and policymakers in more effective application.

Vad är vardagsteknik? : Niondeklassares syn på ämnet teknik och teknikundervisningen. / What's every-day technology? : Grade 9 pupils view on the technology subject and teaching of technology.

Elfgren, Carl January 2015 (has links)
Based on some of the objections of the Swedish Schools Inspectorate quality audit of the subject technology in 2014 this research puts some questions; What do the students think about the technology subject, what do the students think the subject should teach?   The research was conducted as a survey in a suburban school in Stockholm, presented to 125 students in grade 9.  The research is focused on objects that the students they have worked with and the objects they want to work with, and where the objects can be used in the students' everyday lives. The questionnaire also includes background questions with the students' assessments of the current school teaching in general and the teaching in technology.  The results show that students perceive a technology education that is neither interesting nor uninteresting. The technology teaching is not useful in their everyday life. Students who value technology education the most also see the most benefits from the subjet. The benefits they see are of relatively complex technical nature. It is also complex technological objects or areas they would like to work with.

Identifying Standards of Quality in Christian Online Theological Education

Baltrip, Ryan 10 November 2015 (has links)
Changes in computer and communication technology have sparked an educational revolution. For over 20 years, higher education, as a whole, has been adapting to the changing educational landscape. Christian theological education, which is not immune to changing educational realities, has also been adapting to decentralized educational tendencies and experiencing rapid growth in distance and online learning. Christian theological education appears to be a decade or so behind higher education in its contemporary adaptation to online learning,. Questions that higher education began asking over a decade ago about online learning are now part of the contemporary conversation within Christian online theological education. One of those questions asks, “What are standards of quality for Christian online theological education?” The purpose of this study was to identify standards of quality in Christian online theological education as well as issues related to implementing these standards of quality. This study was originally planned as an explanatory, sequential mixed methods study. Due to circumstances encountered during the administration of the originally planned study, this study’s approach had to be adapted to the descriptive survey research method. This study was conducted among an expert sample of distance learning professionals from within Association of Theological Schools (ATS) accredited schools. As indicated by distance learning professionals at ATS-accredited schools, this study: (a) identified 24 standards of quality for Christian online theological education, (b) discovered insights on how well these leaders perceive they are implementing quality standards, and (c) identified areas of both success and challenge when trying to implement quality standards in Christian theological education. These research findings led to two conclusions and produced seven key themes for Christian online theological education. The implications of these findings and suggestions for future research were discussed in order to help Christian theological education not only survive the educational revolution it is immersed in, but to thrive within it.
