Tradução técnica: da composição lexical à constituição do discurso

No. of bitstreams: 1 Luciene Novais Mazz.pdf: 4727183 bytes, checksum: 7817f0fb80c1675457368b46c2a748d7 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2015-02-23 / Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico / Into the corporate world there are various standard settlement documents establishing an explicit hierarchy of power with respect to the effectiveness of written texts, invoking actors by a specific mode of enunciation in the process of translating a text from a given source language into a target language. But, despite that rigid regulation could be homogenized, in terms of meaning, it has not prevent cultural dimension interference that reflects the foreign text and also it cannot obscure the value of diversity amongst companies spread all over the world. On the other hand, that interference has effects on the way to develop writing of domain-specific language even in English as the global language of business. Besides the identity preserved by regulations and standards, this thesis aims to demonstrate differences on translating a technical document from multiple foreign languages into English. The starting point for our research lies in three main approaches: the translation process, highlighting the linguistic and cultural diversities amongst target texts; Bakhtin´s theory of dialogical discourse on the concept of multiple voices, the plurivocity as a fundamental condition operating the meaning; terminology studies that provides a theoretical and methodological bases to search for lexical units in a specific domain. Moreover, the theory and corpus-based studies allow developing an initial methodological procedure based on corpus linguistics analysis, considering the three aspects: (i) lexical variation leveling of its irregularities and further establishing identity amongst texts, (ii) linguistics invariant enabling to recognize the differences within groups as well as enunciative traces in which discourse are addressed to take place in different social and cultural environment, (iii) effects of relationship of lexical units among texts so as to provide a normalization and standardization of compound words (terms) that are given in specific contexts. This research in a relevant sense finds support on a study-initiated of a previous master´s program. In addition to it offers knowledge carried out under particularly specific features of linguistics and social scope to pharmaceutical domain and also issues relate to corporate interests and its interdisciplinary scientific fields / No mundo corporativo, há inúmeros documentos altamente regulados e padronizados estabelecendo explícita hierarquização de poder em relação à escrita, aos atores envolvidos, à enunciação que os caracteriza, tanto na língua fonte como em sua tradução para outras línguas.

Künzli, Alexander January 2003 (has links)

This dissertation investigates translation strategies and translation principles in technical translation. Five translation students and 5 professional translators from German-speaking Switzerland and 4 translation students and 6 professional translators from Sweden were asked to think aloud while translating a user guide from French into German and from French into Swedish, respectively. The focus of the analysis was on the strategies that could be observed by comparing the translation products with the source text; and on the principles underlying these strategies as revealed by the think-aloud protocols of the translation processes. In order to evaluate the extent to which the translation products complied with the fictitious translation brief given to the participants, 2 reviewers per language pair proofread the translation products. The analysis also included contrastive analyses of certain linguistic features of technical texts in French-German and French-Swedish. The results show that experience of translation does play a role in the choice of translation strategy. It is, however, an even more important factor with respect to knowing and applying translation principles in the translation process. Also, students more often display uncertainty regarding translation principles, and conflict between the principles verbalised and those actually followed. Language-pair specific differences were mostly found in connection with translation strategies. Comments about future directions include the need for clearer definitions and more systematic manipulations of the variables involved in translation, and the potential interest in investigating the principles governing how translations are revised through the use of think-aloud protocols.

Le traducteur professionnel face aux textes techniques et à la recherche documentaire / Dealing with technical texts and documentary research in professionnal translation

Lagarde, Laurent 10 September 2009 (has links)
This thesis analyzes translation strategies and knowledge acquisition. It is based on interviews and questionnaires from a sample of freelance technical translators. The purpose is to investigate if translation strategies are influenced by factors translators can handle more or less, such as experience, training and working languages. It appears that time pressure has an influence on the decision to accept or refuse a translation. When under pressure, translators do not use the same documents, get less knowledge and spend less time storing information. The lack of documents is problematic for translators whose languages are rarely spoken and read in their working environment. They create more terms in the target language and analyze the source text more in-depth than translators of widespread languages ; they also get help from the human source and store information more often than translators of widespread languages. Specialized translators give more importance to the technicity of the source text than non-specialized translators ; they buy more documents and are more able to assess the time they will take to do documentary research. “Young” translators think there is a strong link between the technicity of the source text and its level of difficulty. They also prefer to directly use documents matching what they look for, use and buy less paper documents than experienced translators. Translators use and buy less paper documents, and accept to translate more technical texts than during the pre-Internet period. Clients also give them shorter deadlines than before.

Překlad odborných textů z němčiny do češtiny / Translation of technical texts from German into Czech

Fořtová, Bohuslava January 2012 (has links)
The aim of this thesis is to provide an insight into the translation of technical texts from German to Czech. The theoretical part discusses the present state of knowledge of technical translation in Czech and German speaking countries, the scientific discourse, text typology and classification of texts with regard to the context. Furthermore, this thesis describes contrasts of technical texts, and their characteristic features on a lexical, syntactic, semantic, pragmatic and text level. This thesis focuses on technical translation of medical texts with their most common text types and specific features, and explains implications for their translation from German to Czech. The empirical part of the thesis includes translation analysis of a chosen text type and an overview of main text types in medicine, followed by examples of parallel texts in Czech and German. To provide more objective information about translation of technical texts, a survey was carried out among translators and translation services agencies. The subsequent results were compared with the findings presented in the theoretical part. In the conclusion, this thesis summarizes the results of the research into the translation of technical texts from German to Czech with regard to medical texts and offers suggestions for further research.
