Duomenų srautų ir skaičiavimo resursų paskirstymas didelio gabarito video ekranuose / Data flow and computing resourses in large scale LED screens calculation and analysis

Brazys, Nerijus 30 May 2005 (has links)
Data flow and computing resourses in large scale LED screens calculation and analysis is presented. It has been proved that due to specifics of LED screen control large data flows are born which for a reduction. Also, there is a demand for LED screen control hardware price reduction. By application of distributed computing by means of screen processors implementation in comes possible to reduce the data flow load on main processing unit. Thanks to this personal computer can be implemented for screen control as main processing unit. Due to above mentioned modifications PC becomes responsible only for data format unification. Main data processing is implemented in distributed network of screen processors. This further allows to use standard ethernet transmission and distribution equipment, leaving space for system future development.

Data service framework for urban information integration

Wang, Hongxia January 2007 (has links)
Comprehensive and accurate information plays a key role in urban planning process. Recent developments in Information Communications Technologies (ICT) have provided considerable challenges and opportunities to improve the management of planning processes and make better use of planning information. However, data sharing and integration are always problematic for urban planning tasks because urban datasets are heterogeneous and scattered in different domains and organisations. It is stated that planners spend about 80 percent of their time to coordinate various datasets and analysis information (Singh 2004). The aim of this research is to develop a technical solution to providing information support for urban planning. The research will focus on planning data representation and integration in order to produce semantically rich urban models.

PHD by Published Works

Warner, Timothy John January 2007 (has links)
The thesis explores the complex relationship between modern audio technologies and the art of popular music through close scrutiny specific artefacts, a largely neglected area of musicological research. The detailed analyses presented here reveal the ways in which particular analogue and digital audio technologies are used, and how these have tended to shape and inform the musical and sonic characteristics of popular music recordings and related artefacts.

Bonneau, Claudine 09 1900 (has links) (PDF)

Digital foam: a 3D input device

Smith, Ross Travers January 2009 (has links)
This dissertation investigates deformable computer input device technologies to facilitate capturing complex physical-world gestures. By capturing the physical gestures and using appropriate haptics, it is possible to create virtual models using pinching and squeezing gestures similar to those used when sculpting clay. To date, most desktop modelling applications employ pointing devices that capture a single cursor location to manipulate a model with tedious sequential steps. One reason for this is developers have focused efforts on adopting applications to work with generic two-dimensional pointing devices, such as a mouse or digitising tablet. This is due to the difficulty of developing three-dimensional input technologies. In particular, deformable sensors capable of capturing natural sculpting techniques are undeveloped. / PhD Doctorate

Using emergent technologies to develop sustainable architectural composites

Palmer, Fleur January 2009 (has links)
The intention of this project is to research the potential of emergent technologies for developing sustainable composites for the building industry. It is divided into three parts: Part 1 Identifies emergent practices which are being applied to the development of new sustainable building prototypes such as developments using nanotechnologies, the influence of biomimetics, the development of intelligent interactive systems and the use of digital technologies to generate complex cellular structural systems. Part 2 Outlines existing processes involved in selecting and manufacturing prototypes, as many existing processes have been opportunistically applied to emergent practices to generate innovative sustainable prototypes. Part 3 By synthesising the research gathered in the previous parts of this thesis, this section documents the design process for developing a sustainable building system. The design is based on a minimal surface structure to reduce materiality and to optimise strength and its manufacturing process exploits emergent and existing technologies for its generation.
