I tried to read several of Verzeri's texts, as well as works by others who wrote about her. Teresa Verzeri has not elaborated on a Christology, as it is understood today, but in several of her writings there are christological elements that surface in the light of Christology developed by recent theologians, so that we can value the importance of her legacy. In order to further verify this, I read the works of several authors such as Jon Sobrino, Bruno Forte, Vera Ivanise Bombonato, Victor Codina, Maria Clara Bingemer, among others. After reading these works, I sought to establish a dialogue between them and Verzeri's thought. The work addressed also content related to the historical context in which Teresa Verzeri lived, as well as gospel themes, such as mercy an compassion, God's predilection for the needy and the outcast, the relationship of Jesus with the Father, Jesus follow-up, the paschal mystery, among others. The last part of the work aims to verify if the Institute founded by Verzeri continues today through its sisters, the Daughters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, the charisma started off by her. I hope that this work, besides offering an in-depth study of some contents of Christology, will show the importance of Verzeri's proposal for an authentic praxis for today.

Oblitas Jordán, Raura Raquel 12 November 2018 (has links)
Tesis

NEITHER DECEIVED, NOR DECEIVER: TERESA OF AVILA AND THE RHETORIC OF DECEPTION IN EARLY MODERN SPAIN

Ana Maria Carvajal Jaramillo (7874012) 20 November 2019 (has links)

As a woman who claimed to experienced supernatural phenomena, such as spiritual visions and raptures, Teresa of Ávila had to face accusations of deception while confronting her own doubts of being self-deceived. Both religious authorities and visionary women in sixteenth-century Spain used the idea of deception to either dictate or challenge the dominant religious discourse. Ultimately, Teresa succeed at convincing ecclesial powers of the legitimacy of her experiences, a mandatory step for her canonization. Other visionaries were not as successful, and I analyze whether Teresa’s rhetorical strategies played a role in ensuring her effective defense of the authenticity of her visions.
This analysis of Teresa of Ávila as a visionary woman who felt the need to confront the problem of deception questions the usefulness of the traditional interpretation of visionary women as either deceivers or deceived. I argue that deception has traditionally functioned as a tool of sociopolitical marginalization, and that rulers of public discourse have ignored or dismissed the voices of visionary women. This work indicates the urgency of including their stories in the larger discussion on the credibility of women’s accounts of their own life experiences.

Singing Sinophone : a case study of Teresa Teng, Leehom Wang, and Jay Chou

Lee, Lorin Ann 18 July 2012 (has links)
This thesis provides an initial inquiry into the acoustics of Chinese identity, or Chineseness, in the emerging studies of Sinophone and Sinophonicity through the study of three well-known Sinophone musicians -- Teresa Teng, Leehom Wang, and Jay Chou. As critics such as Ien Ang and Rey Chow have reminded us, it is becoming increasingly urgent to reexamine the plurality of Chineseness with the rise of China. Truly, the umbrella term "Chinese pop" or "Mandopop" has become an inadequate common denominator in terms of the multilinguistic and multicultural elements in popular music produced in overseas Chinese communities such as Hong Kong and Taiwan or what Shu-mei Shih calls the "Sinophone" communities. In short, Sinophone studies explore the relation between the Chinese mainland and these Sinophone communities in a set of conditions (geographic, ethnic, linguistic, political, etc.). This thesis will explore the ways in which Sinophone musicians exhibit and perform Chineseness, the reason for its manifestation, and the implications and consequences for these types of articulations. / text
