"Vad vi kallar kall" : En intervjustudie om kallelsen till prästämbetet

The aim of this essay is to present and analyse six calling narratives that has been collected from six different priests. Three of them belong to the Roman Catholic Church and three of them belong to the Church of Sweden. I have chosen to have priests from two different churches because I also want to investigate if their calling narratives can be connected to the church they belong to. To be ordained in any of these two churches one´s calling must be acknowledged by the Church involved. In the Church of Sweden, they look at the calling (or vocation) as something with two dimensions, the inner calling and the outer calling. Meanwhile the Roman Catholic Church looks at the calling as one dimensional.  The calling narratives has been collected by interviews with each priest. The interviews have been semi-structured, with the intention that the priests should have been able to talk freely about what they have found important. The main questions, that all the priests got, was “Why did you choose to become a priest?”, “How did you assure yourself that the calling was from God?” and lastly “What has the calling meant in your role as a priest?”.  The essays questions are what the priests think has been crucial for their journeys to become priests, and also if there is possible to see any difference between how the priests from the Roman Catholic Church assured themselves that the calling was from God compared to how the priests from the Church of Sweden assured themselves that the calling was from God. The answer to the first question is that I noticed two different kinds of narratives, one where the calling narrative was described as a process and one where it was affected by one specific experience. The answer to the second question is that I saw a pattern where all the priests from the Church of Sweden described that confirmation from other people, about their adequacy for the priest role, had been crucial to them, while none of the priests from the Roman Catholic Church brought that up.

This research and documentation project evaluates the architectural and historic significance of the St. Alphonsus Roman Catholic Church Complex for listing in the National Register of Historic Places. St. Alphonsus Church was founded as a German National Parish and operated by the Redemptorist Order of priests since 1882, providing religious, social, recreational, and educational opportunities in an imposing complex of five buildings occupying a full city block. The complex, composed of a Church, School, Athenaeum, Rectory, and Convent, is locally significant for its associations with German-American immigration and settlement in Chicago's Lakeview community area. The project includes a narrative description of the five properties and their surroundings, plus a statement of its historic and architectural significance during the period between 1882 and 1928. / Department of Architecture

The thesis follows the history of the Roman Catholic Church in Czechoslovakia between 1948-1961. The first part includes broader theoretical context and the second part contains historical context of the issues which are discussed in the third part. On the example of Václav Boštík, the dean in Ústí nad Orlicí between the years 1934-1942 and 1945-1961, and using the micro-historical method, the thesis demonstrates the running of a parish in a district town during the first thirteen years of the communist totalitarian rule. The options and actions of dean Václav Boštík - an ecclesiastic administrator and statutory representative - in various situations and his decisions, which had a direct and significant influence on the parish, are analyzed in the thesis. At the same time, the presented local situation is compared with the steps of the state towards the Church on the national level, which shows one of possible pictures of the ecclesiastical history in Czechoslovakia in the second half of the 20th century. It was a new situation that arises beyond the ecclesiastical elite, deeply used to be a part of the universe inside State´s power. With an insignificant diocese, that emerged during colonial and imperial times of Brazilian history, this important structure of the Catholicism administration was crushed duo to the ties that bound Catholic Church and State at the system of patronage. Since the first meeting of the episcopate in São Paulo in 1890 there was a great mobilization around the proposal that intent to expand the Diocesan network and with the support of the Saint Faith was put into practice an ambitious plan that consisting of erecting at least one diocese in each State of the Federation as soon as possible. The urgency explains itself, even with the lack of resources, across the fact that the republicanism provided to the states some sort of autonomy that never existed before. The first Republican Constitution, published in 1891 was not the church´s wolf exactly, but limited considerably the Church´s influence inside the power. The research realized for this project was majority made at the Archivio Segreto Vaticano and brings a significant variety of documents about the political articulations necessary to execute this project. As nothing in politics is innocent there were several contradictions in the course, as much as conspiracies and scheming involving partisan politics that we are so used to see and hear about and where the political alliances not always follows ideals but, in so many times, contradicted these ideals instead. In this way, the main objective of the ecclesiastical elite was achieved. Documents are quite specific in this regard. The purpose of this research was try to articulate some schemes that State and Church together make use of to overcome differences and to forge actions creating new forms of acquaintance and interests intending to favor themselves at the secular republic State / Esta pesquisa tem por objetivo central aprofundar o debate a respeito das questões que envolveram a reestruturação diocesana da Igreja Católica no Brasil e seus vínculos com o Estado Republicano pós separação Estado-Igreja, pelo Decreto 119-A, de 7 de janeiro de 1890, do Governo Provisório da República. Era uma situação nova que se colocava diante da elite eclesiástica brasileira, acostumada a fazer parte do universo de poder estatal. Com uma rede diocesana insignificante, eregidas ainda durante o período colonial e imperial brasileiro. Esse importante órgão da administração do catolicismo era achatado devido aos vínculos que prendiam Igreja-Estado no regime de padroado. Desde a primeira reunião do episcopado, em São Paulo, no ano de 1890, houve grande mobilização em torno da proposta de expansão da rede diocesana, com o apoio da Santa Sé, se colocou em prática um plano ambicioso de no menor tempo possível, erigir pelo menos uma diocese em cada Estado da Federação. A pesquisa realizada, principalmente no Archivio Segreto Vaticano, traz uma variedade significativa de documentos sobre as articulações políticas que foram necessárias para executar esse projeto. Como nada em política é inocente, houve várias contradições no percurso, tramas e arranjos, que estamos acostumados a ver na política partidária, onde as alianças nem sempre seguem ideais, ao contrário, muitas vezes os contradizem. O objetivo a que se propôs a elite eclesiástica foi atingido. Documentos são bastante explícitos nesse sentido. A intenção na tese foi tentar articular algumas tramas de poder que Estado e Igreja, juntos, utilizaram para superar diferenças e forjar ações criando novas formas de convivência e interesses, que de alguma forma pudesse favorecê-los no Estado republicano laico

Transmissão de conteúdos religiosos: o diálogo de catequistas com crianças e jovens surdo em Parnaíba - PI

O presente estudo pretende verificar como é feita a transmissão de conteúdos religiosos para as crianças e jovens surdos, uma vez que trata da disseminação da palavra de Deus, a um público que é diversificado, que utilizam LIBRAS para sua comunicação. Por se tratar de um estudo pouco conhecido dentro de nosso município como aponta a nossa pesquisa, a literatura se tornou escassa, porém o estudo alcançou o objetivo de localizar em qual entidade religiosa do Município de Parnaíba Piauí é utilizado a LIBRAS como forma de evitar a evasão dos surdos dentro deste contexto. As recomendações preconizadas na literatura acentuam que os intérpretes devem constantemente buscar alternativas, como oferecer o uso de LIBRAS para que os surdos possam entender as mensagens bíblicas para que possam estar buscando conhecer Deus, e nossos ambientes religiosos possam ofertar uma melhor qualidade de entendimento da doutrina cristã. / The present study investigated how is the transmission of religious content for children and young deaf people, since this is the spread of the word of God, to an audience that is diverse, using Brazilian Sign Language (LIBRAS) for their communication. Because it is a little known study within our county as identified by our research, the literature became sparse, but the study has achieved the goal of locating in which religious entity in the City of Parnaíba (Piauí) is used LIBRAS as a way to avoid evasion of the deaf within this context. The recommendations outlined in the literature emphasize that interpreters must constantly seek alternatives, such as offering the use of LIBRAS for the deaf can understand the biblical messages that may be seeking to know God, and our religious environments may offer a better quality of understanding of the doctrine Christian.

The first part of the thesis describes earlier history of the town Jistebnice and its parish. Other parts are concerned with postwar history of the parish. The thesis is organized chronologically according to particular priests who administered the parish. The key political events from the history of the Czech Republic, which had impact on the life of the Roman Catholic Church as well as the parish in Jistebnice, are discussed in the beginning of each chapter.

The part of the diploma thesis are thematic maps, which picture the spatial organization of the Roman Catholic Church in the Czech Republic and Diocese of České Budějovice, which is examined, including comparison with the territorial-administrative division of the country.

No Brasil, foram difundidas por religiões cristãs, se popularizando pela oferta de tratamento da dependência química. As controvérsias em torno das CT’s acirraram após sua incorporação na Rede de Atenção à Saúde, em 2010. Esta medida do Governo Federal foi alvo de críticas feitas por especialistas em drogas, que questionam a laicidade e a eficácia dessas instituições. Será em torno da legitimidade ou não, da presença religiosa enquanto implementadora de políticas sociais e públicas, a questão desta dissertação. Os dados coletados em pesquisa bibliográfica e documental foram complementados por breve etnografia da Fazenda da Esperança. Na análise, utilizamos como referencial teórico os trabalhos de Goffman (1992), de Turner (1974; 2005) e Csordas (1997; 2002). A pesquisa será apresentada em três capítulos: o primeiro capítulo constrói historicamente a relação entre a Igreja Católica e assistência social, considerando seu posicionamento católico sobre as drogas. O segundo capítulo dissertará sobre o papel que as CT’s possuem dentro da rede pública de assistência aos dependentes químicos. O terceiro capítulo apresentará a Fazenda da Esperança, trazendo os aspectos metodológicos para o desenvolvimento dos objetivos dessa pesquisa. Na conclusão, serão apresentadas perspectivas sobre a influência da Igreja sobre as políticas públicas sobre drogas e sobre como a instituição se pensa dentro da sociedade. / The Therapeutic Communities (TC’s) are institutions with methodology based on community acquaintanceship and spiritual and professional activities. In Brazil, it was spread by Christian church, popularizing by the offering of chemical psychoactive substances dependency treatment. The controversies around the TC’s enhance after it is incorporation into the Health Care Network, in 2010. This Federal Government resolution was critical object done by drug’s experts, who question the secularity and effectiveness of these institutions. It is going to be around the legitimacy or not, of religious presence as social and public policy implementer, the subject of this thesis. The collected data in bibliography and documentary research were supplemented by a brief ethnography of Fazenda da Esperança. In the analysis, were used as theoretical reference the papers of Goffman (1992), of Turner (1994; 2005) and Csordas (1997;2002). The research will be presented on three chapters: the first chapter historically set up the relation between Roman Catholic Church and social assistance, regarding the positioning catholic on drugs. The second chapter descant over the role that TC’s hold inside the public assistance network to psychoactive substances dependent. The third chapter will introduce the Fazenda da Esperança, bringing the methodological aspects to the development of the objectives of this research. On the conclusion, it is going to be presented perspectives concerning the Roman Catholic Church influence on drug’s public policy and how the institution think itself inside the society.

Dopisy Jakuba Demla Jaroslavu Durychovi / The Letters by Jakub Deml to Jaroslav Durych

The thesis contains an annotated edition of the letters of Jakub Deml (1878-1961) of his long- time friend and writer Jaroslav Durych (1886-1962). More than 150 letters and dozens of postcards document the relationship between the two writers in two periods (years 1906-1909 and 1916-1959). The first era of correspondence documents their translation cooperation and own production and views on contemporary literary and social conditions as well. The literary studies connected to the edition also describes two major differences between these creators. In the second period was the most intense correspondence in the twenties of the 20th century. The authors worked closely together and share in the correspondence also events of their personal lives. In 1931 My testimony about Otokar Březina caused a split among friends. Then the correspondence has never fully restored. The dispute was then moved to the pages of periodicals and books, about which one of the chapters of the study inform. The edition is accompanied by editorial comment, an inventory sheet, an index of names and explanations, in which the reader reads some of Durych's reactions and learn other relevant circumstances correspondence.
