Strandberg, Miriam, Herslund, Nicole January 2009 (has links)
This paper intends to give you a deeper understanding about bouncer’s experiences and thoughts of violent behavior and threats in their area of work. We also want to clarify what the solidarity against the colleagues signifies, and what the interactions between guests and bouncers mean to maintain order at the nightclub or the bar in the best way. The research was accomplished in a small town in the Swedish south, using a qualitative method where we did 10 semi structured interviews with 10 respondents of different gender. An observation at a nightclub was done as a complement to the interviews, which we partly took part in. In analyzing the material in our research we are using a hermeneutic, and a double hermeneutic concentration. When we collected all the results, the analysis of the result started. With help from theorist like Thomas Scheff, Randall Collins, Herbert Blumer, Travis Hirschi and Rupert Brown we analyzed the respondent’s statements. The analysis contains; dimming violent experience, prevention of violence and threats and the importance of maintaining social bounds, by adaption.

Hytter, Mats, Egonsson, Anna-Carin January 2007 (has links)
Since information technology has become the main carrier of information in healthcare service, we can see how these organizations now face a number of new threats. The treaths against information support can be either internal or external. An internal threat can for example be lack of security thinkning, whereas external threats can be power failures.</p><p>The essay is a survey over and an inventory of backup procedures and routines in the county council of Kronoberg, Sweden.</p><p>Data was obtained by sending out a questionnaire via county council intranet. 200 users of the EHR in the county council were selected; 50 physicians, 50 nurses, 50 assistant nurses and 50 medical secretaries. A total of 100 persons answered the questionnaire (i.e. a response rate of 50 %).</p><p>To sum up our result of the survey, we can make the following statements:</p><p>• all of the respondents think that backup procedures and routines are important for the organization</p><p>• relatively many are ignorant about the existence of backup routines and procedures</p><p>• a serious conclusion of the survey, is that many respondents regards that documentation is done incorrectly from the backup procedures in to EHR after an incident or system failure (EHR)</p><p>• the majority of the units management staff/management teams at the micro system level has not revised the backup routines on a regular basis.</p>

Var det verkligen våldtäkt? : En diskursanalys av friande domar i våldtäktsmål / Was it really rape? : A discourse analysis of exculpatory rape sentences

Doudnik, Anna, Andrade, Daniela January 2014 (has links)
This past year, the media has been giving a major attention to exculpatory rape cases. In March 2014 the newspaper Metro started the # NEJÄRNEJ – campaign that examines how the police and courts handle rape cases. This campaign consists of a series of articles commemorating the judgments of the men cleared of allegations of rape. The woman's credibility is questioned; their consent is being misinterpreted and when word stands against word, men’s word tends to weight more. One consequence of this was that it became increasingly difficult for women to prove in court that it was indeed rape. Our ambition for this study is to seek understanding of how the district court justifies its guilty sentences. The purpose of this paper is to highlight the discourse constructed by exculpatory rape sentences from a gender perspective. We aim to achieve the purpose by investigating the subjective criterions of the decision in the evaluation process. Critical discourse analysis is used both as method but also as theory and deals with discursive patterns in the court's decision in acquitting rape cases. In this study, we analyze five texts in the form of sentences of the Swedish district court. The study shows that the district court bases on different discursive and social practices in the evaluation process. These discourses are linked to the so-called gender contract with certain ideas where men define how women should be in different contexts; this discourse sees the woman as the "ideal victim" and says how women should behave before, during and after the women have been victims of rape. An example around the determined performances is about women wearing short skirts and how that can be seen as an invitation to be raped. Further claim the sexological theories that women may voluntarily accept a certain degree of violence. After conducting our investigation, we believe that the district court not only construct discourses about what is normal at a rape crime but also reflects power relationships between the male and female gender and defines how people should behave in this context.

Lieutva Europos ir euroatlantinėje saugumo sistemose: raida, dabartis, ateities perspektyvos / Lithuania in the European and euroatlantic security systems: development, present, perspectives in the future

Tauginas, Tomas 27 December 2006 (has links)
This Final Paper consists of analysis of NATO and EU role to Lithuanian security by identifying our days and future threats to Lithuanian security and identification of the future of the Lithuanian security policy. In the first part of this final paper was glanced through NATO and EU CFSP and DP history, highlighting problems of EU integration to Euroatlantic security. It can be assumed that more then half of continuing Cold War century NATO has assured the creation and the welfare of Eastern Europe. The collective defense remains further of one’s NATO functions, by that time EU is not responsible of European collective defense. EU stands just in crisis management. The NATOs and EU’ intercourse problem maintains historical and national color. The second part was dedicated to analyze the evolution of Lithuanian membership in NATO, EU CFSP and DP. It was noticeable that Lithuanian NATO membership gives security to country against straight military invasion by discouraging potential threats. The EU membership gives economical sanctions to threat object just de facto i. m. after, for example, the invasion to Lithuania. But according to NATO and EU agreements, nations which belong to these organizations are allowed to choose the way of reaction so it’s might depend on relationship of each of them and Lithuania. The type and the spectrum of threats were identified in the last part and there was made an analysis which of them and in what time dimension might occur against... [to full text]

The impact of isolation from mammalian predators on the anti-predator behaviours of the North Island robin (Petroica longipes) : a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Science in Conservation Biology at Massey University, Auckland, New Zealand

Whitwell, Sarah Margaret January 2009 (has links)
Conservation in New Zealand has begun to focus heavily on the restoration of degraded mainland ecosystems and the reintroduction of native species that have become locally extinct. In many cases the individuals that are selected for reintroduction are harvested from ‘mammal-free’ offshore islands. This thesis examines the effects of isolation from mammalian predators on the predator avoidance behaviours and predator recognition abilities of New Zealand birds using the North Island robin as a model. It also investigates whether any effects of isolation from mammalian predators has a lasting impact on mainland populations founded by individuals from offshore islands. Nest site selection behaviours were compared across three populations that are exposed to different suites of predators and have differing translocation histories; Benneydale, Tiritiri Matangi and Wenderholm. Point height intercept and point-centred quarter surveys were used to compare habitat availability between the sites and to compare nest sites with the available habitat. Eight nest characteristic variables were also compared across the three sites using a principle component analysis. Benneydale nests were located higher in the trees and were more concealed than nests at the other two sites. Nests on Tiritiri Matangi were supported by large numbers of thin branches and were located toward the periphery of the nest tree. Unfortunately these differences are very difficult to interpret due to a high degree of variation in the habitat types present at the three sites. The anti-predator behaviours initiated in response to a model stoat, model morepork and control were used to test the ability of nesting robins to recognise the threat that each of these treatments might pose to nest success. Behavioural variables were compared between Benneydale, Tiritiri Matangi and Wenderholm using a response intensity scoring system and a principle component analysis. The results indicated that isolation from mammalian predators on Tiritiri Matangi has suppressed the ability of robins on the island to recognise the predatory threat posed by a stoat. They also suggest that the intense mammal control carried out at Wenderholm may have inhibited the ability of local robins to produce strong anti-predator responses when faced with a stoat.
