The Economic Relation and Economic Intergration Between The Tai- wan Strait

Chien, Hong Chin Unknown Date (has links)

The importance of regional economic integration in Africa

Madyo, Manone Regina 07 1900 (has links)
Motivation of virtually all regional economic integration (REI) initiatives has been prospect of enhanced economic growth. Although REI's role in contributing to growth and development was recognised and acknowledged, its importance in Africa has never been properly outlined. Theoretical background, economic assumptions and evidence of REI are examined to bring out REI's importance to Africa. Depicting from these, benefits and challenges of REI in Africa are explored. This dissertation analyses the progress, pace, approach, sequence of REI in Africa looking at different variables. Africa's regional integration blueprint and institutional framework are compared to EU's but selected areas are identified as essential for Africa. Progress on REI has been found to be slow. This study concludes that REI should be viewed as one aspect of strategy towards Africa's development and growth. However, the benefits of REI make it imperative for it to remain the central pillar of Africa's development agenda. / Economics / M.Com. (Economics)

Regional economic integration and economic development in Southern Africa

Rathumbu, Isaiah Matodzi 30 June 2008 (has links)
The impetus for regional integration draws its rationale from the standard international trade theory, which states that free trade is beneficial to all. Free trade among two or more countries or preferential trade will improve the welfare of the member countries as long as the arrangement leads to a net trade creation in the Vinerian sense. The history of regional economic integration in Southern Africa (SADC) reveals that it has not yet achieved the economic benefits that are attributable to developing regions, namely: higher levels of welfare exemplified by low poverty levels, economic development and industrialisation. Regional economic integration in Southern Africa is constrained by high tariff and non-tariff barriers, archaic infrastructures and multiple memberships among different regional economic communities. A SADC-wide customs union can be successful, provided that countries are allowed to join, when their economies have adjusted and the South African Customs Union (SACU) is used as a nucleus. / Economics / M. The importance of bilateral agreements on trade flows: a case of the Trade Development and Cooperation Agreement (EU-SA TDCA)

Kabamba, Georges Bukasa 06 1900 (has links)
This study analysed the intricacies of trade flows imbibed in the EU-SA TDCA. It assessed the trade creation and trade diversion effects of this bilateral trade agreement – using the top 10 selected commodity exports. This follows the report on the Harmonised System (HS) at the 2-digit codes. A Gravity Model Approach on bilateral trade flows is grounded on panel data models for the period 2000-2017 between South Africa as exporter country and the twenty EU countries (EU-20) as importer country-block out of the twenty-eight countries (EU-28). The study reports that the EU-SA TDCA enhanced significant trade expansion and trade creation effects. Mixed results for GDPs and GDPPKs for both South Africa and the EU countries were reported, but the overall results showed that the bilateral agreement do affect South African commodity exports more negatively, albeit with few positive effects from the EU countries in particular. Besides, ICTSA does have a negative effect on commodity exports, while the South African REER has the positive effect on export models. Lastly, the distance as a proxy of transportation costs negatively affects South Africa’s exports, while common colonial relationship and English as common official language have both a positive effect on exports. The findings imply that trade policies should focus on adequate telecommunication tools, alongside fair trade practices allowing South Africa to integrate with the global market, promote economic growth as well as enhance competitive advantage in most sectoral trades. / Business Management / M. Factores que influyeron en las exportaciones peruanas de piensos acuícolas con destino a Ecuador en el marco de la CAN durante los años 2010 al 2019 / Trade factors that influenced Peruvian exports of feed for animals in the aquaculture industry destined for Ecuador in the framework of the Andean Community during the period 2010 and 2019

Bazán Durand, Daniel Antonio, Ochoa Bustamante, Juan Diego 16 October 2020 (has links)
The purpose of this research work is to determine and analyze the factors that influenced Peruvian exports of animal feed from the aquaculture industry to Ecuador within the framework of the CAN between the years 2010 to 2019. To establish this, the selection of three variables to study has been determined in order to try to answer whether the rules of origin, the creation of trade and sanitary and phytosanitary measures, all linked to the relationship between Peru and the Andean Community in trade terms, highlighting the tariff preferences of the chosen product to Ecuador and the certifications obtained, have stimulated greater trade between the two countries in the periods considered above. In the same way, the evaluation of organizations involved that affect the level and development of Peruvian exports to Ecuador has also been specified. For the present investigation, the information collected was obtained from different sources such as SUNAT, SIICEX and Trademap, which made it possible to access the tariff heading's export statistics showing, in the same way, the companies that compose them with their respective records. Added to that, through different interviews with the main actors involved, it was possible to obtain more information, knowledge and appreciation in relation to the factors proposed in this research. By virtue of it, all the collected data will be analyzed under the SPSS Statistics v. 25 and Atlas.ti 8 Software. / Tesis
