The idea of friendship in the literary, historical and legal works of Alfonso X of Castile (1252-1284)

Liuzzo Scorpo, Antonella January 2009 (has links)
This research project explores an area which had been touched only tangentially, being a comparative analysis of the idea and interpretations of friendship which emerge from the three vernacular collections attributed to the supervision of King Alfonso X of Castile (1252-1284): namely the Marian songs Cantigas de Santa María, the law code known as the Siete Partidas and the chronicle Estoria de España. These sources have been examined by adopting a thematic approach which has highlighted the existence of categories such as spiritual, religious and political friendships, as well as other forms of amicable relationships, including those between representatives of different religious, ethnic and social groups. Additionally, this study demonstrates that there was a conscious adoption of a specific lexicon of amicitia which contributed to reinforce either the opposition or the coincidence between friendship, companionship and counsellorship. Despite the undeniable inheritance of both classical eastern and western traditions, the works of the ‘Learned’ King present a peculiar idea of friendship which was deeply affected by contemporary historical contingencies and by the political and cultural projects of a sovereign who wanted to be regarded as a friend of his people, without denying, however, the unbridgeable gap which existed between different social groups. Interestingly, even if the Alfonsine works display a complicated range of relationships which envisage clear differences, they still outline a perfectly-balanced system within which the general and untouchable rules of friendship predominated, although in some cases certain variants were allowed in order to adapt such general requirements to contemporary social and political situations.

Nadaný žák v současné škole / Gifted student at contemporary school

Pánková, Monika January 2014 (has links)
This work deals with the gifted children and their education possibilities in Czech schools. The work is divided into two parts: theoretical and practical. In the theoretical part we first look in what talent is, we will explain different terms which are similar in meaning to the word talent and how to differentiate between them, we will introduce models of talent by various authors and also the basic types of talent. Further I mention the characteristics of the gifted children and how to use these characteristics to identify them. Subsequently, we divide the gifted children into different categories depending on the manifestations of their talents. Significant part of this work is the education of the gifted children, which I split into education at school and out of school. I describe concrete forms of education and possibilities of work with the gifted children and I evaluate their pros and cons. By out of school activities I mean family environment and organizations and institutions focused on education of the gifted children. The rest of the theoretical part I provide summary of this of this topic in the Czech Republic and also what is the situation with education of the pedagogues of the gifted children. The practical part includes a questionnaire and its evaluation aimed at finding the...

We will treat genre as a multidimensional phenomenon. We are aiming to a social and interactional investigation with the language. We will analyze the textual occurrences that characterize the chronicle genre of discourse; the detailing and deepening of its occurrence peculiarities, depending upon its circulation and social consumption. This work has as its theme the observation of the chronicle genre and their typological peculiarities. We have made the analysis of the corpus with the application of theoretical fundamentation in order to prove the typological differences of reflective, lyrical and humoristic chronicle, analyzing the thematics, verbal style and the peculiarities of the compositional form, suitable to differentiate and characterize them .The basis for description of the discourse genre is founded on scholars such as Luiz Antônio Marcuschi (2003) Textual Production, Genre Analysis and Understanding, Bakhtin (1992, 1997, 2003), & Dolz. Schneuwly (2004, p. 116), Meurer (2000, 2005). The approaches of the perspectives of the genre of discourse are grounded in the article of author Rodrigo Costa. To approach the concept of discursive genres, particularly the chronicle genre and its characteristics, we had look for support in Coutinho (1976,1978,1997), Coaracy (1961), Arrigucci (1987), Sa (1985), Beltran (1992), Candide ( 1980), Fargoni (1993), Konzen (2002), Moses (1987), rabbit (2002), Cony (2002), Mello (2002) and Fávero (2005) among others. The result of the analysis presents, in fact, the occurrence of the typologies mentioned in the chronicles, both in relation to the textual occurrences and the thematic strategies, verbal style and compositional structure and linguistic resources of orality (dialogues) built into the literature / Este trabalho tem como alvo de análise as peculiaridades tipológicas presentes na crônica - gênero discursivo escrito.

Oliveira, Nathalia Cantergiani Fagundes de January 2009 (has links)
Great cities are in constant transformation, changing their image and their urban morphology. This process also has an influence on the relation between free and constructed places in their urban tissue. This work proposes to investigate the morphology of empties places inside the blocks, researching the occurrence of these - in Porto Alegre downtown. The work begins studying the concept of these courtyards and then, follows to the search situations at different times in architecture and urbanism history. The cases presented were select from the mainly urban models that had constructed the shape of Porto Alegre Historic Center. One of these models is the traditional city, represented by the design of the old town. The other is the modern city, which brought new relations between buildings and their environments. After presenting the inside blocks situations in two scales - of the cities and architecture - the research gets into the case of Porto Alegre, where inumerous underutilized places are hidden. At this moment, the work passes through an analysis of the urban development of the residential south side of Porto Alegre Historic Center. A chapter about morphological and typological aspects was also necessary for selecting and understanding the potential areas. The ultimate goal was the mapping of the empty spaces inside the blocks at the district - the recognition of intervention possibilities. This work, within the historical and theoretical analysis presented before, contributes with a base for researching about empties spaces inside the blocks.

Semi-arid region of the Northeast, hancrafied cheese factories, archithectonic typologies, Queijo coalho and Queijo manteiga

Mendonça, Ariadne Aguiar Vitório 21 October 2009 (has links)
The semi-arid region of the Northeast of Brazil is a place known for its climactic and social difficulties since the colonization period and its main activity is the production of cheese ( queijo coalho and queijo manteiga ). This work is the result of the changes on the structure of the handcrafted cheese factories, especially because of the demanding of the rules concerning hygiene and food safety on dairy products. Its main goal is to identify the typological categories and relate them to the way the handcrafted cheese is made ( queijo coalho and queijo manteiga ), according to the regulations. The rural architecture was based on the connection between the environment built, the productive activity and the culture, in an effort to identify the constructive specificities of the local level. The model called co-evolução was used as the theoretical base. The field research was done in eleven rural cheese properties in the town of Major Izidoro, Alagoas, using physical and photographic data, subsidizing the investigation of productive and spatial. The criteria used were based on the rules of the (BPF). The architectonic cheese typologies were classified in three groups: the traditional (handcrafted cheese), the intermediate (handcrafted cheese or dairy) and the industrial (dairy), in relation to the inside and outside of the property, its composition and its organization. When it comes to the productive aspect, it was taken into consideration that the types of cheese are due to different processes in fabrication. The multidisciplinary theme suggests researches in social areas and in architecture, and it may explore more cheese factories in the state of Alagoas as in other regions of the Northeast.

The role of congregational management in creating and maintaining a healthy church

Mellody, Michael 16 September 2011 (has links)
This study considers the ways in which congregational management contributes to maintaining the healthy church through the supporting role of supplying, monitoring and controlling the human, physical, financial, and informational resources needed to allow the pastors to lead the congregation-centred church to fulfil its mission. It was found that congregational managers help to prevent their churches declining into illhealth by helping the pastorate to retain current congregants and attract new ones through charisma. This requires them to first study, analyze and classify the major parts of the diverse congregation and surrounding community and then monitor them to foresee and forestall problems. They play multiple roles in efficient administration, asset management, targeted church adverting, human relations, risk management, project management, professional standards auditing and maintenance, community relations with all faiths, charity, mission, and, above all, customer relations. Recommendations are made for enhancing congregational management’s role in the healthy church. / Philosophy, Practical and Systematic Theology / M.Th. (Practical Theology)

Les sciences de l'information et de la communication face à l'émergence d'internet: vers un renouveau de la construction du "public" :approche théorique et méta-analyse des "publics" d'internet / Information and communication sciences facing the emergence of internet towards a revival of the construction of the "audience": theoretical approach and meta-analysis of the internet "audiences"

Patriarche, Geoffroy 07 March 2005 (has links)
/<p>This doctoral thesis aims to contribute to the revival of the information and communication sciences (ICS) whose theoretical and methodological tools are being called into question by the emergence of information and communication technologies. This study focuses on the construction of the “audience” in the age of internet and develops this issue through three chapters.<p>The first chapter synthesizes the constructions of the audience in the research on traditional media. The numerous “audiences” identified in scientific literature from ICS are organized at two levels. On the one hand, we distinguish the audience as “collective actor” from the audience as “attending actor”. On the other hand, and more precisely, the “group” and the “collectivity” are considered two different kinds of audience as “collective actor” while the construction of the audience as “attending actor” is broken up into two constructions: the “receiver” and the “co-producer”.<p>The second chapter discusses (some of) the alterations to the constructions of the audience that ICS have made (or should make) because of the properties of the internet. With regard to the audience as “group”, it covers henceforth a wide range of groups whose internal communication processes become an object of study. Moreover, the construction of the audience as “exposed audience” (a category of audience as “receiver”) is linked up with the issue of information access and the construction of audience as “co-producer” sees its sphere of validity considerably enlarged. <p>The third and last chapter develops a meta-analysis of the construction of the internet audience. The corpus is composed of 186 articles published in six scientific journals from ICS. The variables examined are: the cultural origin of the authors, the editorial influence of the journals, the research subjects, the constructions of the audience, the constructions of internet and the research methods. Among other results, it appears that the “new” constructions of the audience are not much studied in the corpus. The construction as “group” is more frequently encountered than the construction as “collectivity” but is restricted to two journals and is little diversified. Moreover, the audience as “co-producer” is rarely constructed whereas internet facilitates the participation in message production and the appropriation of contents. Furthermore, the construction of the internet audience is a culturally defined process: European researchers rather construct the internet audience as “collective actor” while American researchers tend towards a construction of the internet audience as “attending actor”. Those constructions are associated with different constructions of internet: the audience as “collective actor” is linked up with the construction of internet as “medium” while the audience as “attending actor” is associated with the constructions of internet as “device”, “channel” or “content”. Finally, the constructions of the internet audience are methodologically different: the audience as “collective actor” is studied through qualitative methods while the audience as “attending actor” tends towards quantitative methods.<p> / Doctorat en philosophie et lettres, Orientation information / info:eu-repo/semantics/nonPublished

Hueto Escobar, Alicia 04 September 2023 (has links)
[EN] The value of traditional architecture understood as the architecture built by the local community based on its conditions, needs and resources, lies partly in its construction techniques. Those techniques reflect a whole process of adaptation, optimisation and development of knowledge over centuries. However, tangible and intangible components of traditional architecture are currently threatened by some factors such as industrialisation, depopulation, loss of knowledge, neglect or lack of appreciation. Half-timbered walls are a traditional construction technique that combines a timber frame with a mainly structural function and a wide range of materials and solutions to meet the enclosure needs, cladding and insulation of the spaces defined by the frame. Despite the fact that traditional Spanish architecture is associated in the collective imagination with the architecture of adobe and adobe, half-timbered walls are an essential element of the traditional architecture of certain areas of Spain, whose great diversity and variety demonstrate the ability to adapt to specific geographical, urbanistic, architectural and constructive conditions. Although their historical, cultural, ethnological and landscape value, they have not been studied at the same level of depth as other traditional techniques found in Spanish vernacular architecture, nor with the same level of detail as in other countries with a significant presence of half-timbered walls such as France, Germany, England, Portugal or Italy. In the Spanish context, whether in historical architectural treatises and catalogues of popular architecture or in more recent studies, references to half-timbered walls are occasional. The few specific studies tend to focus on a specific region or typology without giving a general view or going into the form of construction in depth. Given this situation, the present research aims to provide an overview of half-timbered walls in Spain, pointing out the great diversity of existing variants, examining their state of conservation and determining how they are being transformed. To this end, it has been based on the statistical analysis of 1,128 documented case studies spread throughout the territory. The progressive characterisation based on different typological, geometric, material and finish variants has made it possible to reflect the frequency and distribution of each of the identified types and point out the associated constructive logic or reason for their existence. Comparing the characteristics of the identified variants and the geographical, urban, architectural and constructive conditions has made it possible to understand the reasons behind their development and use in different contexts. Likewise, given the panorama of lack of protection and risk faced by traditional architecture in general, the mechanisms of degradation and the most frequent dynamics of transformation have been studied and compared with the construction characteristics in order to understand the resilience and vulnerability of the technique itself and the strategies used by the owners to overcome them. In this way, once half-timbered walls as a construction technique are known, including their diversity and vulnerability, it has been possible to propose a series of recommendations and guidelines for their conservation, intervention and enhancement. / Hueto Escobar, A.
