Životní styl posluchačů univerzity třetího věku / Lifestyle of the Third Age University Students

HOLICKÁ, Monika January 2013 (has links)
Lifestyle of the University of the Third Age listeners The thesis as a whole is written in the spirit of the quality of senior life and active spending an old age. First chapter ? Current status - represents the theoretical frame of the thesis which introduces the reader with the key issues essential for the correct understanding of the work. In its´ main subchapters are described demographical development and the population aging, life quality of senior people and social security in old age. Special chapter is dedicated to the tools of an active old age where the both national and international activities on this field are described, the types of senior organizations such as Active seniors clubs or People´s universities are divided, and separate chapter deals with the education of senior people including the description of educational activities like University of the Third Age or the Academy of the Third Age. The last part of mentioned chapter is dedicated to functions, targets and positive results of the senior people education. Remaining chapters concern the qualitative research. In the chapter two the objective of the thesis is defined, including the main and component research questions. The objective of the thesis is to describe the lifestyle of the senior people who participate on the educational activities within the University of the Third Age (U3V). Specifically to describe how their lifestyle differs unlike to the senior people who does not attend the educational courses via U3V and which positive benefits the study brings. The secondary objective is to determine the factors that impede these senior people to attend the Universities of the Third Age. Third chapter refers to the detailed description of the research methodology. The qualitative attitude with the research design of the case study was chosen for this thesis. I used the moderated interview method and the semi-structured interview for the data collecting and right after the framework analysis was chosen in order to process gathered data. To evaluate the data I used the case comparison method. This chapter also includes the description of the research sample selection and also its characteristics. Forth chapter presents the results of evaluated interviews. Whereas the research file was divided into three groups, also these results have a structure of three separated subchapters. The summary of gathered key knowledge is mentioned at the end of this chapter. I managed to identify the base differences in particular branches of senior people lifestyles between senior people that attend the U3V educational activities, those who don´t and the senior people participate in the Active senior clubs thanks to the comparison of the particular case studies. It is possible briefly to say that the result shows us that the U3V study has no influence on the softening of the feeling of loneliness, although the important role of the U3V in senior people lives mainly in giving them both the kind of meaning of life and the opportunity to spend old age actively with the people of the same generation with the same interests. Senior people who do not attend the educational activities indicate the lower number of meetings with other people, but on the other hand they meet their relatives much more often, in some cases every day, and thanks to this fact, they do not feel the loneliness and see their meaning of life in the care od family. This is the reason, why they do not have a need to attend other activities. After this chapter the Discussion follows, which compares the gathered results of the research with already publicized knowledge. The conclusion, bibliographic sources and the annexes are placed in the end of the thesis.

Škvorová, Klára January 2016 (has links)
The population is getting older. Prognosis predict increasing numbers of people in the age group 65+ in the future. Therefore, it is necessary to think about involving senior citizens in social development and supporting their self-sufficiency up to a higher age. Education is one of the ways to achieve that. The focus of this thesis is on education within the Universities of the Third Age, which it studies from a new point of view. Hardiness is seen as part of personal characteristics which helps the individual cope with stressful situations. Research in this thesis is trying to find out if the senior citizens attending the Universities of the Third Age have a higher scores on hardiness then those who do not attend, and also whether they have a more positive outlook on their health and meaning of their lives. The thesis also studies whether the scores on hardiness depends on gender, formal education level and whether it is connected to perceived social support. The results show that there is no difference in the scores on hardiness resulting from gender. Senior citizens attending the Universities of the Third Age have a more positive outlook on their health and they also perceive their lives as more meaningful. No difference in the scores on hardiness was found between the two groups. Also, no...

As a consequence, the question arises: Who are the professionals responsible for the education of the elderly? There is a teacher training specific to old people? From these questions, we sought a methodology that would favor this research. I chose a qualitative study, consisting of literature review, document analysis, observations and field diaries and interviews. In order to highlight elements that could contribute to think, question and discuss the education of people of various old documents analyzed UnATIs run, I tried to investigate, identify students / educators and the / the two programs UnATIs run, trying to discuss the contents, prioritized themes and goals of these programs, in addition to student motivation / as well as the dynamics of teaching practice with older people. After data analysis and effort to establish connections, mediations and contradictions with the theory concludes that educators old people must have the technical skills, scientific and policies to carry out its activities, so training in gerontology becomes recommendable. A striking aspect well in educational practice with older people is affection, both in terms between educator / student ae / ae among students / as. The research also showed me that the exchange of life experiences that also have emotional aspects involved in this process is critical teaching and learning. Other significant elements are: the language of the educator / a, the character of the proposed activities that should result in immediate and practical benefit and the prospect of enhancing and / or mediate the construction of citizenship and autonomy. The data collected allow me to say that old people who seek programs aimed at seniors, are not only in search of adaptation to social reality, but to be active in this process, intervention and transformation of their realities.

Reproduction of this sociability and the dominant ideology marks the dominated class, which affects the sale reflects the marginalization and vulnerability of the subject. Emana the need to emancipate the subject, to be aware of the society in which it appears and moves that enable the transformation. In the current social model, we can achieve political emancipation through a training action with emancipatory principles. Education enables the questioning of reality and the instrumentalization from knowledge. In this context we observe the situation of the elderly, such as the difficulties he faced. Discussions about aging are in evidence, since this is a global trend. In Brazil there are 25 million seniors (IBGE, 2013). Although a significant number, there are still prejudices through a negative stereotype of old age. Although they have been implemented public directed to the elderly policies (welfare, health, nutrition and educational processes), in practice have not been guaranteed its effectiveness, however, among the actions prescribed in the Elderly, it highlights the importance of higher education institutions offer educational activities for the elderly which have spread throughout the country. This research is characterized as qualitative, being grounded from the materialist dialectic, and has as its object the educational activities for the elderly developed by projects / courses in Public Institutions of Higher Education Paranaenses. It appears as problematic: The educational programs for the elderly developed by projects / courses Public Paranaenses higher education institutions fulfill their educational function and contribute to political emancipation of the elderly? There was also the questionnaires with open and closed questions for the coordinators. 7 of the coordinators of the UATI of the state's public higher education institutions, 5 answered the questionnaire. As a result the research shows that the educational activities for the elderly aim emancipatory processes, even though they have no such name on your goals. Developed work enable the upgrade, self-esteem increase, improvement in quality of life and social inclusion of the elderly. Even with limitations, education for seniors contributes to the awareness of the elderly, can be glimpsed political emancipation from the dialectical relationship between education, man and society. Aged man where are you? is the focus of our investigation. The interrogation soon emerged moving us to propose a research that has as central axis the articulation of the gender dimension with aging. Women see the groups for close association or third age universities as a way of social insertion that give an exceptional character to old age, different from men who usually when retired take refuge in home living or seeking bars or street corners because they see groups for close association as things appropriate for women or as a despised club and even as place for senile persons. Our objective is to portray a profile of the elderly former participants in the Third Age University, investigating the meanings aged men attribute to this stage of life and the possible consequences in their lives / O cotidiano da Universidade para a Terceira Idade UNITI, Projeto de Extensão localizado no município de Campos dos Goytacazes, interior do Estado do Rio de Janeiro, tem apontado para o fato de que, desde sua criação em 1994, este é um território ocupado prioritariamente por mulheres.
