Dobrovolnictví jako cesta k začátku kariéry / Volunteering as the Way to Start a Career

The influence of volunteering on the career of young people in the Czech environment represents an unexplored area of research. This diploma thesis is searching for the answer if volunteering experience and competencies acquired during volunteer activities can affect the start of a career of young people. Particular attention is also paid to social capital and to persons whose activities in the organization push volunteers forward in a professional sense and share new contacts useful for career. The theoretical basis includes the theory of social capital, signal theory, career path theory, and career anchor theory. Design work is qualitative research. The source of the data are semi- structured interviews with ten participants who have experience in volunteering and currently can provide their own opinion on the impact of volunteering on their careers. The aim of this MA thesis is to identify, describe and summarize the possibilities which seniors have to engage in volunteer activities in their place of residence, in the city district of Prague 8. We want to make it easier for seniors to choose volunteering and support them in their decision-making whether to consider volunteering at all. Information about suitable opportunities can influence their decision-making to start volunteering. The secondary goal is to find out the interests of seniors in participating in volunteer activities. Site preferences, areas of volunteering and communication channels. The purpose of this MA thesis is to make the results usable from a practical point of view. Another aim is to make recommendations for facilitating the involvement of senior volunteers, mainly with an emphasis on communication and publication of information on volunteering, seniors' ideas about volunteering for civil society organizations or directly for the city district. The issue of death and dying affects everyone, it is not easy and yet a natural part of everyone's life. Hospice care offers help and support a dying man and his close on the last trip "home". This thesis describes the possibilities of a preparatory course for the volunteers who play an irreplaceable role in hospice care. The practical part describes the specific example from the conditions of the Czech home hospice - The Home Coming, which is being commented on the ground of literature and my personal experience. The outcome of the research is the feedback for the management of the home hospice - The Home Coming, including recommendations for changes of the preparatory course.

The term "Volunteering" as well as its sence has become well-known in today's society. Less knowledge we have about the process of preparations of volunteers before their final involvement in specific projects. This work focus on preparations of volunteers in organizations who operate in the field of humanitarian aid and development cooperation outside the European Union. The aim of this study is to survey particular phases of the contact between organizations and their volunteers especially the phase of training before sending the volunteers for their mission abroad. Volunteer's comments on the methods of preparations form a part of the work too. To reach the objective, the qualitative research was held, so that it was possible to describe the operating methods in focused organizations. During the research, the direct contact with volunteers and emloyees of organizations played an important role. The work is concluded with the survey of ascertained facts and resulting recomendations. This thesis deals with the professionalization of the Czech Network of Mother Centres o.s. (civic association). The theme of professionalization in the context of civic sector organizations is a widely-discussed topic and it is up to the organization itself how it will professionalize. The Czech Network of Mother Centres o.s. is a civic umbrella association of maternity centres in the Czech Republic. The history of its establishment reflects the different stages of professionalism and efforts to improve and develop services. The first part of this thesis deals with definitions of professionalism, from which emerge three key areas: human resources, organization processes and organization transparency and communication with the external environment. In the second part of the thesis there is a study of The Czech Network of Mother Centres o.s. professionalized areas, and the reasons why it happened. The conclusion summarizes the research findings and formulates recommendations for the future direction of the Czech Network of Mother Centres o.s. Project Patron - the case study of engaging men in the areas of civic, public and private life which needs their deeper participation Abstract The support of engagement of men in the areas of civic, private and public life which showing the lack of their involvement becomes a topic in the last decade on the level of EU and some national states. But there is just little social research focused on the practical ways how to support the engagement of men in these areas. This paper offers the view from perspective of the studies of civil society - which is especially focused on the motivations to volunteering - combined with the perspective of the studies of men and masculinities. The core of this paper is a case study of the project Patron in which the adult men creates friendly-based relationships with the young men from the institutional care and help them to manage the leaving of this care to the "real life". The aim of this research is analyze the motivation of these men which leads to their participation on this project - mainly in the relations to the experience of manhood and masculinity. Am 3. Juni 2009 beschloss die Europäische Kommission, 2011 zum „Europäischen Jahr der Freiwilligentätigkeit“ auszurufen. Zur Begründung führte sie aus: „Die Europäische Kommission sieht die Freiwilligentätigkeit als gelebte Bürgerbeteiligung, die gemeinsame europäische Werte wie Solidarität und sozialen Zusammenhalt stärkt… Freiwilliges Engagement spielt in so unterschiedlichen Bereichen wie Bildung, Jugend, Kultur, Sport, Umwelt, Gesundheit, Sozialwesen, Verbraucherschutz, humanitäre Hilfe, Entwicklungspolitik, Forschung, Chancengleichheit und Außenbeziehungen eine maßgebliche Rolle“. Das Centre Européen du Volontariat geht in seinem Jahresbericht von 2010 von mehr als 100 Millionen ehrenamtlich Tätigen in ganz Europa aus. Diese Umstände bieten einen willkommenen Anlass, Umfang, Inhalt, Geschichte und auch problematische Aspekte freiwilliger Arbeit im Bereich der Kultur am Beispiel der Landeshauptstadt Dresden zu reflektieren.

Im Jahre 1999 hatte der damalige Ministerpräsident, Prof. Dr. Kurt Biedenkopf, zusammen mit dem Wirtschaftsminister, Dr. Kajo Schommer, ein Beschäftigungsprojekt für Langzeitarbeitslose initiiert und sodann durch die Beratungsgesellschaft McKinsey im Freistaat Sachsen in einigen Schwerpunktregionen umsetzen lassen. Dieses Projekt erhielt den Namen „Tätigkeit und Aufgaben Regionale Initiativen in Sachsen“ – kurz TAURIS. Die Idee war, Langzeitarbeitslose gegen eine Aufwandsentschädigung in gemeinnützigen Bereichen tätig werden und sie hierbei eine Aufgabe außerhalb des eigentlichen Arbeitsmarktes wahrnehmen zu lassen.

Das Louise-Otto-Peters-Archiv mit Bibliothek wurde 1997 eröffnet und ist das wichtigste Projekt der Louise-Otto-Peters-Gesellschaft e.V. (LOPG), die rund 120 Mitglieder im In- und Ausland – darunter in den USA, Großbritannien, der Schweiz und Japan – hat. Vorsitzende der Gesellschaft ist die Historikerin Prof. Dr. Susanne Schötz, seit 2006 Professorin für Wirtschafts- und Sozialgeschichte an der Technischen Universität Dresden. Ehrenvorsitzende ist die Diplom-Journalistin Johanna Ludwig, die 1993 Hauptinitiatorin der Vereinsgründung war.
