I västra Stockholm, i ett område kallat för Solvalla, planeras en ny stadsdel med många nya bostäder. I samband med detta planeras följaktligen nya förskolor och skolor. Detta kandidatprojekt går därmed ut på att rita just en förskola och lågstadieskola som ska kopplas till den befintliga skogen som breder sig i utkanten av området idag. Det blev en verksamhet där förskolan och skolan fick varsin byggnad. Som koppling mellan de två byggnaderna skapades en gemensam glasbeklädd skolmatsal längst upp och en nedsprängd idrottshall. Formmässigt påminner byggnadernas uppdelning av en spricka där husen har dragits isär och lämnat väggar med olika vinklar. Dessa skapar förutsättningar för variation i lek och kvalitéer i skolgården. Skolgården innefattar plats för lek, sport, natur och en upphöjd trappscen med fönster som barnen kan titta ner i gympasalen utifrån. Vad uppskattar barn i arkitektur? Vad behöver de i den byggda miljön de har runt sig? Detta var frågor som ställdes och blev grunden till den innemiljön som skulle bli dominerande i förskolan och skolan. Av många undersökningar resulterade detta i öppna allrum, svängda väggar, användningen av trappor, speciella fönster med olika bröstningshöjd, olika skalöverväganden anpassade efter ålder och storlek på barnen och detaljer gällande färg och material i golv, tak och väggar med färgen orange som återkommande element. / In the west of Stockholm, in an area called Solvalla, there are plans for a new district with a lot of new dwellings. As a result of this, consequently there are also plans for new kindergartens and schools. This degree project in architecture is just about projecting a new kindergarten and primary school grade F-3 that is going to connect to the now existing forest in the area today. The result became an institution where the kindergarten and the school got their own buildings. As a connection between them two, there is a mutual dining room in glas at the top and a gymnastics hall at the bottom under the ground level. In the shape, the buildings remind of a crack where they have been subtracted from each other and left walls with interesting angles. These walls creates variation in both expression and how to play and use the building in the playground. The playground includes space for play, sport, nature and an elevated stage of stairs with windows that allows the children to look down the gymnastic hall under the ground. What do children appreciate in architecture? What do they need in the built environment they have around them? These were questions I asked myself and used to design the indoor environment. Of many studies and investigations that interested me the result became open spaces between more closed rooms, curved walls, the usage of stairs, special windows with different heights, different scale considerations depending of the size and age of the children and details in color and material of the floor, walls and ceilings with the color orange as a repeating element.
