The proposal of this study appeared since the evidence that many mothers of premature newborn babies in Newborn and Pediatric Intensive Treatment Unit of Hospital das Clínicas Samuel Libânio de Pouso Alegre/MG , were not able to identify corporal expression of their children and did not achieved the sensorial involvement during clinical evolution and qualification of babies to exclusive oral alimentation. In this manner, the proposal of this work is the investigation of mediation as a tool of facilitator intervention of the relationship mother and baby of high risk through technical instruments relationed with newborn care, and the shelter of mother with her anguishes and fears. The technicals tools used in this study were: the correct position of the baby; offering of smell and taste stimulus, the elicitation of alimentation and defense reflections, Nutritive Suction through sounding lead-finger technique; the No Nutritive Suction, the offering of pleasant touch, gentle opening of incubator porthole and the luminosity control through black using. Along the study it was evident that the speech therapy mediation fortifies the trust of mother in herself, and in an ability to become available to her child and recognize him as a love object that demands care, reflecting in the sensorial involvement offered by her. The technical instruments, in this context, become near mother and baby and contribute to the mother´s interest and her participation in the work of assistance the babies alimentation and cares relationed with hearing / Este trabalho propõe que o fonoaudiólogo se insira como elemento facilitador da relação mãe-bebê de alto risco, porque o envolvimento sensorial é imprescindível para o desenvolvimento psíquico do bebê e emergência de sua linguagem oral.

Based on these premises, curriculum is built from listening the multiple forms of language used by babies and small children, in observation of what they already know in motor and cognitive development indicators, and Psychic Risk indicators for child development (IRDls). Under this scope, spaces become welcoming environments and routine guided at moments ensure the comprehensive development of babies and young children attending day care. The research begins with a historical review about the brazilian kindergarten. It follows with the theorization of the curriculum as a support to questions about educational practices and, more specifically, about the actions triggered in early childhood education based on the curriculum guidelines of the Ministry of Education. The chosen methodological approach contemplates the qualitative research. It is used the literature search and document analysis on curriculum conceptions of the early childhood and about a nursery maintained by a health institution, located on the south side of São Paulo. As a result, it was concluded that there are two paths in the construction of the nursery teacher job. The first strives for anonymity, the generalization and therefore the emptying of subjectivity. It is taken by those who credit to knowledge and technical absolute truths that can be taught and consequently learned.

Life cycle environmental and economic sustainability in the baby food sector

Sieti, Natalia January 2018 (has links)
This research addresses life cycle environmental and economic sustainability in the baby food sector. In the UK, this sector has been growing rapidly, expanding by around 30% between 2009 and 2014, by which time it was worth an estimated £181 million per year. This growth sits within a context of high emissions from the food sector: in 2015, UK net GHG emissions were estimated to be 496 million tonnes (Mt) and the domestic food chain was responsible for 115 Mt CO2 eq. emissions. However, within this overall food chain, very little is known about the sustainability of the baby food sector, with almost no prior literature in the area. The research presented here begins with market research to identify the characteristics of products available in the ready-made food market, in which wet and dry products in jars and pouches dominate sales. Subsequently, 12 representative products are selected from those available on the market and each is assessed in detail to establish its environmental and economic impacts using life cycle assessment (LCA), life cycle costing (LCC) and value added (VA) assessment. The findings of these product-level assessments are then compared to home-made equivalents and finally scaled up according to sales volumes to provide an overall view of the baby food sector as a whole. Wet and dry variants of ready-made porridge products are assessed first as the most commonly consumed breakfast option. The dry product is shown to have 5%-70% the impacts of the wet, on average, and the importance of product formulation is clear: for dry porridge, reformulation could reduce impacts by up to 67%. For the wet porridge, switching from glass jars to plastic pouches is also shown to decrease impacts by up to 89%. Assessment of 11 wet ready-made products demonstrates that the highest impacts are found in spaghetti Bolognese and salmon risotto, and that raw materials are the major hotspot of the life cycle, contributing 12-69%, followed by manufacturing at 2-49%. When combined into a range of weekly diets limited differences are observed between diets, except in cases where dairy-free diets result in compensatory increases in meat consumption. When the aforementioned selection of ready-made products is compared to its home-made equivalent, the home-made options are shown to have lower impacts by 50% to 17 times. This is due to the avoidance of manufacturing and extra packaging stages, as well as shorter supply chains resulting in less waste overall. At the product level, the LCC of ready-made meals ranges from £0.08 to £0.26 per 125 g product, compared to £0.02-£0.20 for the home-made equivalents. Value added is, on average, approximately four times higher for ready-made meals than homemade, illustrating the potential profit of the sector. Annually, the ready-made baby food sector has an LCC of £40m and carbon footprint of 109 kt CO2 eq. This carbon footprint represents only 0.1% of the UK food and drinks sector. The results of this research show that considerable improvements can be made to the environmental and economic sustainability of baby foods, both ready- and homemade, while home-made options tend to have lower costs and environmental impacts. The outputs provide benchmarking and improvement opportunities for industry and government, as well as insight for consumers.

Uutela, Robin January 2019 (has links)

Rituals surrounding the care of the dying previable baby in labour ward : a critical interpretive synthesis of the literature

Cameron, Joan Elaine January 2011 (has links)
The thesis begins with an exploration of my experiences of caring for dying babies which considers the way in which the care given to dying babies differs according to the care environment. This sets the scene for an exploration of rituals surrounding their care. Critical Interpretive Synthesis was selected as a research design for the study because it offered the opportunity to take an interpretive approach to a range of data and allowed the creation of new arguments. Documentary data including professional literature, professional textbooks and professional guidelines were analysed and interpreted using methods which guideline analysis, critical appraisal and rhetorical analysis. The diverse range of analyses facilitated both the rigour and meaning of the data to interrogated. Performance Theory was used as the theoretical framework in the thesis to allow the rituals to be revealed and explored as dramatic performances. The thesis demonstrated that the origin of the rituals was rooted in the need for the baby to be treated with compassion and dignity and to provide parents with the opportunity to form meaningful attachments in the brief period between the previable baby’s birth and death. The rituals were devised by parents who had been bereaved and were incorporated into guidelines. The guidelines practised the rhetoric of choice but the data demonstrated that the rituals appear to have been adopted as routines which were then used indiscriminately, robbing them of their meaning. The findings reveal how care to meet the physical needs of the dying previable baby requires to be made more explicit to enable the ideology and of ‘comfort care’ to be realised in practice. The thesis also demonstrated a need for inclusiveness to represent the spectrum of parents affected by the death of a previable baby when researching perinatal loss and formulating policy.

Val av intern kommunikationskanal -En generationsfråga? : En kvalitativ studie ur ett medarbetarperspektiv

Rodestrand, Robin, Åberg, Filip January 2019 (has links)
Nyckelord: Intern kommunikation, interna kommunikationskanaler, baby boomers, generation X, generation Y. / Abstract Title: The choice of internal communication channel - A generation issue?   Level: Final assignment for bachelor degree in business administration.   Author: Filip Åberg and Robin Rodestrand   Supervisor: Agneta Sundström and Kristina Mickelsson   Date: 2019 - januari   Aim: The aim of the study is to increase understanding of how managers choice of internal communication channels can be adapted to employee’s generation and how it can contribute to more effective communication between managers and employees.   Method: The study is based on a hermeneutic research tradition in which a qualitative research design was used to gather empirical work through semi-structured interviews with employees in a specific organization. Thereafter a thematic analysis was conducted, through which we compiled themes based on the respondent’s perspective. A typological analysis was used to show differences and similarities between different generation preferences in the choice of communication channel.                                                                                Conclusion and contribution: The study's contribution is that there are more similarities than differences between baby boomers, generation Y's and generation X's preferences of internal communication channels. The only differences that the study illustrates is that generation X values e-mail higher than other generations. And that generation Y values communication through chat features higher than the other two generations. The study also states that other aspects such as relationship, context and information overflow are significant in the leaders choice of internal communication channel.   Suggestions for future research: This study proposes to investigate how generations differ in their preferences of internal communication channels in other contexts than those studied in this study. Another suggestion for further research is to deeper investigate the generation Y's use of e-mail and generation X's use of chat features. Furthermore, future research can investigate how the relationship between leaders and employees, as well as information overflow, affect leaders' choice of internal communication channels                                                                                Keywords: Internal communication, internal communication channels, baby boomers, generation X, Generation Y.

Subculture and Queer Subjectivity

Woodlock, Natalie 20 December 2018 (has links)
My work explores subculture as a form of cultural resistance to the dominant ideology. I'm concerned with the ambiguous relationship we occupy as subjects to the material produced by popular culture, and how this is digested and understood by female viewers and cultural outsiders. The specific temporality of the queer subject is a key theme in my work.
