A consideration of the usefulness of Medard Boss's approach to dream explication, in an attempt to reveal the potential for forward movementHill, Patricia Margaret January 1992 (has links)
The purpose of this study is to investigate the value of using a Daseinsanalytic approach to dream explication in order to reveal the essential meaningfulness of behaviourial possibilities for the patient. After discussing the Daseinsanalytic view on dream explication, emphasizing Medard Boss's approach as the major exponent of this view, the study explores the usefulness and validity of the study as a method of investigating the dreams from this perspective. The dreams related in this study are examined individually, giving a phenomenological understanding of each and also providing a possible prospective focus for therapy. It will be shown that the phenomenological understanding of the patient's dreams corresponds with his subjective experience of his emotional existential situation and that any positive changes in the content of the dreams over time corresponds with observable and related changes in his behaviour, ideation and mood. However, if the suggested prospective focus of Medard Boss had been more usefully employed when each dream was explicated in the therapy sessions, it is felt that the progress of therapy would have been greatly enhanced. This study therefore concludes that the use of Medard Boss's approach to dream explication has not only a hermeneutic value in the process of therapy, but also aids the dreamer in becoming aware of the possible modes of behaviour yet unrevealed in his waking life.

This work focuses on the gender relations in the world of work, focusing on the trajectories of women who hold positions of leadership in companies in the commercial sector of the city of Campina Grande-PB, verifying how the aggregation of characteristics defined as female in the style of managing companies affected them in terms of their chances of success in the market, as well as the interpretations that workers make of the female leadership. The theoretical perspective is inspired by the debate on gender relations in general and specifically in the field of work. As a qualitative methodology, there were two moments: (1) structured interviews were conducted with twelve women who hold management positions at various hierarchical levels; (2) and the application of questionnaires to an intentional sample of female employees headed at the time of the survey by women in the selected companies. Through the interviews and questionnaires applied, it was possible to trace the profile of all respondents and analyse the narratives of leaders, highlighting their experiences in leadership positions. As well, understand the perceptions that led and led have regarding the fact that a woman is a prominent position in the company, as well as the way they act in the exercise of their role, influencing the boss / led relationship. The heads that participated in the research have some common characteristics, among them, the high level of education. In their professional trajectories, they went through several functions to occupy place in the management. In this sense, the desire to grow professionally and the quest for financial independence arouse women's interest in being in a command post. However, it is teamwork, in a determined and humane way that managers excel in their professions. Therefore, the fact of being a woman and being in a position of leadership, still today causes strangers in people, so it is necessary that they constantly prove their skills in the workplace.

Structure and metamorphism at the western margin of the Omineca belt near Boss mountain, east central British ColumbiaFillipone, Jeffrey Alan January 1985 (has links)
Rocks of the Hadrynian and Early Paleozoic (?) Snowshoe Group comprise the core of the Boss Mountain area at the western margin of the Omineca Belt near Crooked Lake. Structurally overlying these are rocks of the Intermontane Belt: the Permian Slide Mountain Group (Antler Formation), Triassic fine grained sediments (unnamed), and Jurassic volcanic rocks (Takla Group). In the Snowshoe Group, a large, lensoid intrusion of coarse grained granitic rock (Boss Mountain gneiss) was emplaced during the mid-Paleozoic, and later deformed and metamorphosed with the enclosing metasediments.
The rocks of the Snowshoe Group act as basement to the overlying Late Paleozoic/Early Mesozoic cover rocks. Within the basement, four phases of regionally significant deformation have been recognized, and are manifest as fold generations designated Fl through F4.
Earliest structures, Fl, in the Snowshoe Group are isoclinal folds, accompanied by a transposed foliation of regional extent, which are overprinted by penetrative deformation related to easterly verging F2 nappe structures. The F3 folds are upright or inclined to the northeast, and give a consistent southwesterly sense of vergence. These folds are responsible for the regional map pattern, and have folded both the basement and cover into an antiformal culmination in the Boss Mountain area. Fourth phase structures refold the other features, but do not appreciably affect the F3 geometry.
In the cover sequences, the first phase of deformation is equivalent to the second phase within the basement During the Phase 2 deformational episode the cover rocks were emplaced over rocks of the Snowshoe Group. West-dipping imbricate faults characterize the western margin of the area, where basement rocks contain fault-bounded slivers of the cover, and the tectonic contact between basement and cover rocks is marked by a zone of mylonitization. Similarly, the F2 and F3 folding phases in the cover are equivalent to the F3 and F4 structures in the basement, respectively, but are only weakly developed in the cover.
An early, enigmatic metamorphic event accompanied Phase 1 deformation in rocks of the Snowshoe Group. Field relations suggest that this was probably coeval with the mid-Paleozoic emplacement of the Boss Mountain gneiss. Metamorphism during the Jurassic was synchronous with F2 deformation in rocks of the Snowshoe Group, and resulted in Barrovian type mineral assemblages ranging from the biotite through sillimanite zones. The metamorphic grade increases from west to east; with only low grade metamorphism of the cover rocks in the study area. Phase 2 structures in the Snowshoe Group were overprinted by the peak of this metamorphic event, as indicated by staurolite through sillimanite zone assemblages.
The Boss Mountain area is structurally correlative with rocks of the Shuswap Complex. These rocks appear to comprise a portion of the continental margin sedimentary wedge, which was overridden by an allochthonous terrane accreted to the western margin of North America in post-Early Jurassic times. / Science, Faculty of / Earth, Ocean and Atmospheric Sciences, Department of / Graduate

Daseinsanalýza a filosofie Martina Heideggera / Daseinsanalysis and the philosophy of Martin HeideggerMašková, Monika January 2022 (has links)
The thesis deals with daseinsanalysis as a psychotherapeutic direction, which is based (among other things) on philosophy. The topic is approached in the sense of caring of the soul, which has appeared in the European tradition since Plato, and it was the overlap of philosophy into psychology, that gave rise to daseinsanalysis. This thesis focuses on the interconnection of psychology and philosophy. Based on the studied literature, the work contains the basis of daseisnanalysis from phenomenology, philosophy of Martin Heidegger and psychoanalysis. The thesis deals with the reflection of the origin of daseinsanalysis in work od Ludwig Binswanger and Medard Boss, the founders of daseinsanalysis. The work of Ludwig Bisnwanger discusses the concept of freedom, love and other topics that have been taken over and persisted in daseinsanalysis. This thesis is also about Medard Boss's relationship with Martin Heidegger and his interpretation of dreams, which he focused on. Furthermore, the thesis sets out the main principles of daseinsanalysis, which have developed over the years and link them to their foundations. The main principles include being able to work with existentials, work with freedom and respect for listening and receiving. All these form a mutual relationship between the patient and the...

In the work presented in this thesis, I use the power spectrum of the transmitted flux in the Lyman-alpha (Ly-$alpha$) forest of distant quasars to constrain the mass of cosmological neutrinos in the context of four seperate projects. Neutrinos leave a signature imprint on large scale structures in the Universe through their free-streaming, which manifests as a deficit of matter density fluctuations on typical length scales that are inversely proportional to their rest mass. This typical free-streeming scale, of order a few Mpc, can be probed by Ly-$alpha$ forests which are imprints of the neutral atomic Hydrogen density along the background quasar's line-of-sight. I use the Ly-$alpha$ flux power spectrum from mainly two large scale structure surveys: the $13,821$ low-resolution quasar spectra from the ninth data release of SDSS (BOSS) in 12 redshift bins from $langle z rangle = 2.2$ to $4.4$; and the $100$ high-resolution quasar spectra from the XQ-100 survey (of the VLT's XShooter spectrograph) in 3 redshift bins, $langle z rangle = 3.20, 3.56$ and $3.93$. This enables us to probe scales from $k geqslant 0.001~s/mathrm{km}$ to $k leqslant 0.02$ and $k leqslant 0.07~ s/mathrm{km}$ respectively.Modeling the flux power spectrum requires solving the non-linear regime of structure formation and the intergalactic gas in the cosmological hydrodynamics simulations that are used to that effect. I controlled for several of many systematic uncertainties related to the simulations. First, I ran simulations with different initial conditions to quantify the sampling variance. I then tested the accuracy of a splicing technique that we use to construct the flux power spectrum from lower size and lower resolution simulations. This required producing a complete run of a $(100~h^{-1}mathrm{Mpc})^3$ comoving cube containing $2 times 2048^3$ dark matter particles and baryons. This enabled our working group to enhance the previously established constraints on the sum of neutrino masses from $sum m_nu < 0.15~mathrm{eV}$ to the most stringent constraint to date $sum m_nu < 0.12~mathrm{eV}$ with $95%$ confidence. I then worked on implementing right-handed neutrinos in non-cold dark matter cosmological frameworks. A substancial amount of work has gone into applying plausible initial conditions that would accurately model the free-streaming effect of these types of particles. I put the most stringest constraints (at the time of publication) on the mass of non-resonantly produced sterile neutrinos as pure warm dark matter candidates, $m_nu lesssim 25~mathrm{keV}$ at $95%$ confidence. I extended this investigation into a mixed warm plus cold dark matter cosmology. Finally, I implement right-handed neutrinos produced in presence of a lepton asymmetry which boosts their production and lowers their free-streaming scale. I started a collaboration with a team of theoretical physicists involved in searching for astrophysical evidence for the existance of such resonantly-produced right-handed neutrinos in dark matter rich systems. Our new-born collaboration has enabled the first ever constraints on their mass using the Ly-$alpha$ forest power spectrum.

The acoustic wave propagation in the primordial plasma left its imprint in the two-point correlation function of the matter density field. This baryonic acoustic oscillation (BAO) peak builds up a standard ladder allowing us to infer some parameters of the different cosmological models. In this thesis manuscript we present an update of the BAO measurement at a redshift z=2.40, from the cross-correlation function between two tracers of the primordial matter density fluctuations: quasars of SDSS-III (BOSS) and their Lyman-α-forest absorption fluctuations. These fluctuations trace the neutral hydrogen distribution in the intergalactic medium (IGM).This study gives the first developpment of the full physical fit of the cross-correlation. Among other effects, it takes into account quasar physics and the distribution of IGM elements heavier than hydrogen. We also present the first simulations of our analysis. They allow us to validate the overall data analysis leading to the BAO measurement. This study measures the Hubble distance and the angular diameter distance at the 2%$ and 3%$ precision level respectivelly (1 σ interval). We combine our results with other BAO measurements at lower redshifts and find the dark matter density and dark energy density in the framework of two different cosmological models: ΛCDM et oΛCDM.
