[pt] A presente dissertação analisa de que forma o cenário político e sociocultural instaurado a partir das redefinições dos direitos trabalhistas do emprego doméstico foi refletido no contexto ficcional por meio de suas representações. Para tal, a telenovela Cheias de Charme (2012) foi escolhida como objeto de estudo por ter sido exibida durante esse cenário de mudanças trabalhistas e figurar como a primeira novela brasileira da Rede Globo que a trama principal tratava-se do emprego doméstico. Nessa dissertação pretendemos observar a telenovela como um espaço de memória documental e coletiva, por sua preservação física como produto audiovisual, por ser tratar de uma narrativa vinculada ao presente que retrata e por partilhar saberes para um público geral. Desta forma, buscamos perceber como foi retratada os personagens patroa e empregada doméstica, dando ênfase nos marcadores (racial, social e sexual) que perpassam essa trabalhadora; os conflitos despontados no contexto representado, no qual havia uma possibilidade de ascensão social, especialmente por meio de uma análise dos capítulos e dos elementos presentes na novela; e a relação da novela com outros produtos midiáticos. / [en] The present thesis is the result of a research about the political and sociocultural scene instated since the redefinitions of labor rights regarding domestic employment and its representation in the fictional context. For this purpose, the soap opera Cheias de Charme (2012) was chosen as object of study because it was displayed during this moment of changing labor rights and also because the first soap opera aired by Rede Globo which main plot revolved around domestic work. We have observed this soap opera as a space of documental and collective memory due to its physycal preservation as an audiovisual product. Its narrative is tied to the present, which portrays and shares knowledge targeted at a general audience. Therefore, we aimed to analyze the construction of the characters of the patroa (the owner of the house) and the empreguete (the domestic worker), emphasizing (racial, social and sexual) markers socially associated o those identities and the conflicts emerging from the represented context, in which there was a possibility of social ascension, particularly through the analysis of episodes and elements found in the whole plot. Finally, we have traced relations between this soap opera and other audiovisual products.

The Coordination Mechanisms of Self-Managing Organizations : An Explorative Case-Study of Three Pioneers

After many years of limited activity in the field of coordination research, new organizing forms with the aim to abandon managerial hierarchies have caused a renaissance in the research of new solutions to this universal organizing problem. An emerging stream of research about Self-Managing Organizations (SMOs) which eliminates formal hierarchies and managers completely, have left researchers wondering about SMOs new coordination solution as antecedent organizing forms have their coordination solution strongly dependent on managers. The aim of this thesis was to explore and identify the mechanisms that SMOs utilize to coordinate work output, how these mechanisms are configured and how they correspond to the settings of SMOs. Due to the nascent state of knowledge development within this field, the aim was operationalized with the help of coordination conceptualizations and theory from nearby fields. A multiple case-study was conducted, using deep, semi structured interviews, triangulated with internal documentation, external documentation and archival records. The study identified the mechanisms Planning based on ‘sense and respond’, Competence driven and partially fluent roles, the merged category of Familiarity peer-trust and transparency, Digital infrastructure, Cultural content and finally, Content of repeated procedures. Through a self-composed analytical approach, the study revealed that traditionally mechanistic coordination mechanisms were of less importance to SMOs and had an added organic and group-dependent dimension to their configurations, compared to similar mechanisms in hierarchies. Furthermore, the findings suggested that Digital infrastructure, Cultural content and Content of repeated procedures were configured in a way, particularly useful and important to SMOs. The reason was that the three mechanisms constituted a mechanistic but editable framing, which both aligned and encouraged organic efforts in a certain direction. They also corresponded well to SMOs settings as they could be exercised and edited by anyone, they facilitated coordination cross-teams without managers and they were scalable in theory.

"Går inte att vara superkvinna" : Kvinnliga chefers upplevelse av ”work-family conflict”

Tidigare forskning visar på att en konflikt mellan arbete och familj är något som kan drabba alla, har olika bakomliggande faktorer och påverkar bland annat det subjektiva välbefinnandet. Det som har störst påverkan på konflikten är arbetsrelaterade faktorer. Syftet med studien var att undersöka kvinnliga chefers upplevelse av konflikten samt olika aspekter som de upplever kan påverka konflikten, både positivt och negativt. Deltagarna i den studien var 8 kvinnliga chefer som har eller har haft barn i åldern 2–10 år under perioden som chef. Resultatet visar på att konflikten varierar i grad utefter arbetsbelastning och kan påverkas med hjälp av en öppen och förstående arbetsplats som möjliggör planering och skapandet av sociala relationer. Förhoppningar finns om att studien ska bidra till att minska konflikten hos de individer som upplever den och öka det subjektiva välbefinnandet.

Humidity micro switch based on humidity-sensitive polymers

We present recent results on a binary threshold sensor based on the binary zero-power sensor (BIZEPS) platform which is able to use the energy provided directly from the measured relative humidity of the ambient air to mechanically switch an electrical micro contact. This zero-power switch behavior is realized by using the humidity-sensitive volume swelling of a polymer layer as the detection element deflecting a mechanically deformable silicon boss structure, thus closing the electrical contacts of the switch. For the humidity-sensitive sensor switch considered here, a humidity-sensitive hydrogel blend of poly(vinyl alcohol) and poly(acryl acid) was used. The sensitive part affected by the measurand is completely separated from the electrical part, thus providing long-term stability. By using an inverse silicone stamping technique the polymer layer with a thickness of about 15 μm was patterned on test structures possessing a thin silicon flexure plate of 5 mm x 5 mm in size and 20 μm in thickness. Reproducible deformations of up to 15 … 24 μm has been measured. Investigations of the swelling kinetics showed for several discrete relative humidity values a saturation of the water load. The time to reach this saturation state is reduced from 5 hours down to approx. 20 min by increasing the relative humidity beyond the threshold value of 70% r.H. A significant influence of the temperature to the humidity load could not be observed.

Détections des oscillations acoustiques de baryons grâce aux forêts Lyman-α des spectres de quasars de l'expérience BOSS

Les oscillations acoustiques de baryons (BAO) constituent une règle standard permettant de contraindre les différents modèles cosmologiques. Cette thèse rend compte de la première mesure des BAO dans la fonction de corrélation de la fraction de flux transmise des forêts Lyman-α des quasars à grands décalages spectraux. Cette détection utilise 89322 spectres de quasars mesurés par le Baryon Oscillation Spectroscopic Survey (BOSS) de la troisième génération du Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS-III). Les quasars considérés possèdent des décalages spectraux compris dans l'intervalle 2,1 < z < 3,5. Un pic dans la fonction de corrélation est détecté à 1,043+0,021−0,020 fois la position attendu du pic BAO pour le modèle de concordance ΛCDM. Cette mesure permet de contraindre la distance angulaire DA ainsi que le paramètre de Hubble H à un décalage spectral moyen z = 2,38. Par ailleurs cette thèse présente une nouvelle méthode de sélection des quasars par variabilité. Cette méthode est appliquée à la région du Stripe 82 où un grand nombre de données photométriques multi- époque est disponible. Sur cette région, elle permet d'atteindre une densité d'environ 30 deg−2 quasars contre 18 deg−2 pour les sélections usuelles par couleur.

The present work relates to the transfer of the inspirational elements used in St. Vitus Cathedral in Prague focusing on the hanging bolts in the sacristy of the cathedral. Two architects, Matthias of Arras and Peter Parler, participated in the construction of St. Vitus Cathedral in the 14th. Century Both of these builders were inspired by the most important buildings of contemporary Europe and the experience they gained was incorporated in the Prague cathedral. Through thorough research of the life of Matthias of Arras I am able to describe this builder as a unique personality who used a bold modern style for the construction of Prague cathedral and laid the foundation for cathedral architecture in Bohemia. Subsequent analysis of selected buildings constructed in the south of France during the 13th. and the first half of the 14th. centuries reveals many features which exhibit common characteristics with elements used on St. Vitus Cathedral, thus indicating the sources of inspiration for Prague cathedral. Both builders work meets in a space called "Old Sacristy" decorated with two unique pendant bosses. Thanks to exhaustive investigation it has been clarified that these bosses originated from southern France and Alsace. El objetivo general de esta investigación se enfoca en analizar la relación de los factores motivacionales con la retención de los obreros de las empresas agroexportadoras de Supe, en el año 2021. Es por ello, que en el proceso de la investigación se pudieron destacar ciertos factores que influencian en la intención de permanencia de los obreros de dicha zona. En primer lugar, se analizó la relación que existe con los incentivos salariales. Por otro lado, se analizó la relación con las condiciones físicas labores. Y finalmente, se analizó la relación que existe con la relación jefe-subordinado. Esta investigación uso una metodología mixta. El proceso cuantitativo se basó en el análisis de las respuestas de una encuesta a 300 obreros y el proceso cualitativo en el análisis de las respuestas de 4 entrevistas a profundidad realizadas a personas con conocimiento del tema de investigación. Posterior a ello, con la aplicación de ambas herramientas, se pudo entrelazar la información y obtener resultados para posteriormente generar conclusiones. El resultado de esta investigación indica que el factor, incentivos salariales, presenta la correlación más alta con la intención de permanencia de los obreros del sector agroexportador en Supe, seguido del factor relación jefe – subordinado y las condiciones físicas laborales. Y se pudo concluir que, si las empresas agroexportadoras de Supe se enfocan en impulsar estos factores motivacionales, la intención de permanencia se incrementará. / The general objective of this research focuses on analyzing the relationship of the motivational factors with the retention of the workers of the agro-export companies of Supe, in the year 2021. That is why, in the research process, certain factors could be highlighted. that influence the intention of permanence of the workers in that area. In the first place, the relationship that exists with salary incentives was analyzed. On the other hand, the relationship with physical working conditions was analyzed. And finally, the relationship that exists with the boss-subordinate relationship was analyzed. This research used a mixed methodology. The quantitative process was based on the analysis of the responses of a survey of 300 workers and the qualitative process on the analysis of the responses of 4 in-depth interviews with people with knowledge of the research topic. After that, with the application of both tools, it was possible to intertwine the information and obtain results to subsequently generate conclusions. The result of this research indicates that the factor, salary incentives, presents the highest correlation with the intention of permanence of workers in the agro-export sector in Supe, followed by the manager-worker relationship factor and physical working conditions. And it was possible to conclude that, if the agro-export companies of Supe focus on promoting these motivational factors, the intention to stay will increase. / Tesis

Det ensamma ledarskapet : En kvalitativ studie om upplevelser av ledning i det mindre företaget utan HR / The solitary leadership : A qualitative study on experiences of leadership in the smaller business without HR

Syftet med denna studie är att genom en kvalitativ forskningsmetod söka förståelse för och försöka fånga upplevelser av hur det är att leda det mindre företaget utan HR-avdelning. Studien har haft för avsikt att undersöka hur bland annat bristen på HR-stöd kan upplevas för den relativt ensamma ledaren. Utgångspunkt har tagits utifrån ledarrollen. Runt denna har teorier inhämtats som på något sätt kan knytas till upplevelser i ledningspositionen, från ledningsmodeller till grundläggande socialpsykologiska aspekter. Sex intervjuer har genomförts med fyra män och två kvinnor på högsta chefsnivå inom respektive företag. Varje respondent har olika erfarenheter och utbildningar och representerar vitt skilda branscher. Intervjuerna har spelats in och sedan noggrant transkriberats till text för bearbetning och analys. Analys har genomförts inledningsvis utifrån Grundad teori, där all teori och förförståelse bortsetts ifrån i möjligaste mån för att kategorisera texterna i två steg, i en typ av tematisering. Därefter har intervjusvar kopplats ihop med det teoretiska ramverket och befintlig forskning, och sedan tolkats utifrån detta. Studiens slutsatser pekar på många likheter i upplevelser på de olika företagen. Många utmaningar delas av samtliga och detsamma gäller belöningar. I enstaka fall skiljer de sig åt av olika skäl. Resultaten indikerar att arbetet med människor upplevs som det mest utmanande och krävande, men även som något av det mest positiva. Men det finns orosmoln av lite olika slag beroende på verksamhetssektor. Det finns också stöd utifrån att inhämta för ledaren genom lite olika strategier, enligt respondenterna i studien. Ledarskapet i det mindre företaget utan HR, kan tidvis som studiens titel indikerar upplevas som ensamt. Men behöver inte vara det hela tiden. / The purpose of this study is to, through a qualitative research method, seek an understanding of and try to capture experiences of what it is like to lead the smaller business without an HR department. The study intended to investigate how, among other things, the lack of HR support can be experienced for the relatively solitary leader. The starting point has been taken based on the leadership role. Around this, theories have been gathered that can in some way be linked to experiences in the management position, from management models to basic social psychological aspects. Six interviews have been conducted with four men and two women at the highest management level within each company. Each respondent has different experiences and educations and represents widely different industries. The interviews have been recorded and then carefully transcribed into text for processing and analysis. Analysis has initially been carried out on the basis of Grounded theory, where all theory and pre-understanding is set aside as much as possible in order to categorize the texts in two steps, in a type of thematization. Interview responses have then been connected with the theoretical framework and existing research, and then interpreted based on this. The study's conclusions point to many similarities in experiences at the various businesses. Many challenges are shared by all and the same goes for rewards. In some cases, they differ for various reasons. The results indicate that working with people is experienced as the most challenging and demanding, but also as one of the most positive. But there are clouds of concern of slightly different kinds depending on the business sector. There is also support based on obtaining for the leader through slightly different strategies, according to the respondents in the study. Leadership in the smaller company without HR, as the title of the study indicates, can sometimes be experienced as lonely. But it doesn't have to be all the time.

The loss of a dream: parents raising an autistic child

Master of Science / Department of Family Studies and Human Services / Anthony Jurich / This study explored the parents’ perspective of having a child with Autism living in the home. Specifically, the researcher was looking to explore the attachment style between the parent and child, as well as the process of the parents’ changing their expectations of their child, from the expectation of raising a normal child to raising a child with Autism. In order to understand the experience of both families interviewed, the researcher, through semi-structured, qualitative interviews, interviewed each parent separately. A multiple case study approach was used in order to allow for comparison within each family. Methods for analyzing the data included coding the data, so that the data could be analyzed from the individual interviews and also analyzed based on family response. For the parents interviewed in the study, four themes emerged that were similar for all parents. These themes included the diagnosis process, the differences in attachment before and after their child was diagnosed, the changing expectations of themselves, each other and their diagnosed child, and the parents’ views on getting professional help, such as therapy. Both families shared the experience of confusion during the diagnostic process, especially confusion surrounding the cause and prognosis of Autism. All parents in the study illustrated the attachment injury after their child’s diagnosis, in addition to when the child began showing the classic signs of Autism. The study also found that each parent’s expectations changed from higher ones of themselves, spouse and diagnosed child to more moderate and low expectations of their spouse and diagnosed child. Last, all parents interviewed expressed that seeking therapy would have helped them deal with the diagnostic process and better cope with having a child with Autism. It is believed by the researcher that these themes have emerged because of the families’ shared experience of raising an Autistic child.
