de um país, como componente de movimentação da produção nacional e também para o
comércio regional, nacional e internacional, a qual afeta diretamente a competitividade e
precisa ter infraestrutura adequada, ser ágil, confiável, segura e oferecer um nível de serviço
superior a um baixo custo. Para isso é preciso definir formas de avaliar a competitividade para
saber a situação atual e onde se quer chegar, a fim de aumentar sua vantagem competitiva e
garantir sua sustentabilidade no longo prazo. Neste contexto, o objetivo desta pesquisa é
definir um índice de avaliação da competitividade logística para o transporte rodofluvial do
Polo Industrial de Manaus, nas etapas de entrada de insumos oriundos do mercado nacional
para o PIM e na saída de produtos finais do PIM para o mercado nacional. Esta pesquisa foi
classifica quanto a finalidade como aplicada, quanto aos objetivos como exploratória e
descritiva, quanto aos métodos e procedimentos como quantitativa e qualitativa, pesquisa de
campo. Como etapas do método foram feitas: aprofundamento do conhecimento do fenômeno
da pesquisa por meio da revisão da literatura, entrevista não estruturada e foi desenvolvido a
metodologia. Depois foi definido o universo e amostra da pesquisa, em seguida foram
definidas as dimensões, estrutura, variáveis e definição final do índice, além da sua validação.
Posteriormente os dados foram analisados e por fim foram feitas as conclusões,
recomendações de pesquisas futuras e limitações da pesquisa. O resultado insuficiente do
Índice de Avaliação da Competitividade Logística do Transporte Rodofluvial do PIM (ICLRF)
foi insuficiente em função dos resultados dos três subíndices que o compõe. As principais
deficiências que afetam a competitividade logística do transporte rodofluvial do PIM são:
baixo volume transportado sobretudo na hidrovia do madeira em relação ao total transportado
por navegação interior, baixa oferta de infraestrutura tanto rodoviária quanto fluvial e baixa
qualidade da infraestrutura sobretudo hidroviária em função da hidrovia do Madeira.

State, using as standard the tanneries situated at Vale do Rio dos Sinos – RS. The research
question was: which indicators reflect the tanneries competitiveness? The general objective of
this research was analyzing the syndicated tanneries competitiveness of Goiás state. It was
used as method the exploratory research, the bibliographic and documental survey, the field
research, the interviews and the observation. As a result it was diagnosed that the syndicated
tanneries of Goiás have enough competitiveness to keep themselves in the inside market and
in the exportation to Europe and Asia. And as a final consideration it is expected that this
research contributes to the leather chain development in Goiás and enlarge the approaches that
make possible the evaluation of the organizational competitiveness. / Este estudo refere-se a uma investigação voltada à competitividade dos curtumes
sindicalizados no Estado de Goiás, utilizando como parâmetro os curtumes localizados na
região do Vale do Rio dos Sinos – RS. O problema de pesquisa definido foi: quais os
indicadores refletem a competitividade dos curtumes? O objetivo geral desta pesquisa foi
analisar a competitividade dos curtumes sindicalizados do Estado de Goiás. Utilizou-se como
método a pesquisa exploratória, o levantamento bibliográfico e documental, a pesquisa de
campo, as entrevistas e a observação. O resultado diagnosticou que os curtumes
sindicalizados do Estado de Goiás possuem um suficiente grau de competitividade para
manter-se no mercado interno e na exportação para Europa e Ásia. E como consideração final,
espera-se que esta pesquisa contribua para o desenvolvimento da cadeia de couro de bovino
no Estado de Goiás e amplie as abordagens que possibilitem a avaliação da competitividade
organizacional.

Previous issue date: 2009-06-09 / This study has had as objective, the identification of the main factors responsible for the loss of competitiveness in the Brazilian?s printing and coated industry. Coated wood free. For this identification was applied a strategy of data evaluation through structured interviews with four professionals with experience in the Paper Sector. It was used information issued in articles, magazines, dissertations, newspapers and on top of that primary and secondary data from the Pulp and Paper Sector were used, specifically the coated wood free for printing segment. The study had as assumption that there was loss of competitiveness in the Brazilian market, and the main factor responsible for this loss could be attributed to a systemic factor, the exchange rate. There was an increase of importation and reduction of exportation in the period of the study. The main factors identified in the interviews in sequence of importance and according to the interviewers were; exchange rate, the illegal usage of duty free operation during the importation and the lack of update the industrial equipments in the Brazilian Mills The currency, as a main factor of competitiveness loss for the Coated paper sector and it was confirmed through the evaluation of secondary figures of importation grow and exportation reduction in the period of 2003 till 2008. Other factor, the illegal usage of duty free operation during the importation, was based only in the perception of the interviewers; there were no dada available due to the subjectivity of this topic. The third factor, the lack of update the industrial equipments in the Brazilian Mills appointed during the interviews. It could be confirmed in the analyze of the world?s fastest paper machines and more competitive in the world in comparison with Brazilian?s paper machines which speed are very far from the more competitive machines in the world. The Brazil is not even mentioned in this article of machines caparison. When the factors that determine the competitiveness of printing coated papers are analyzed in group, the conclusion is that Brazil is not competitive in this segment due to several business factors. The currency that is a systemic factor and appears in the periods of currency valuation works in the process of exposure of the low competitiveness already existent. / Este trabalho teve como objetivo identificar os principais fatores que levaram a ind?stria brasileira de papel de imprimir revestido, o Couch?, ? perda de competitividade. Para identifica??o desses fatores foi aplicada a estrat?gia de an?lise de dados atrav?s da realiza??o de entrevista estruturada com quatro profissionais experientes ligados ao setor de pap?is, informa??es publicadas em artigos, revistas, teses e disserta??es, alem dos dados prim?rios e secund?rios do setor de celulose e papel, especificamente os do segmento do papel de imprimir revestidos ? o Couch?. Dentro deste objetivo foi adotada a suposi??o de que houve perda de competitividade no mercado brasileiro, e que um dos principais fatores da perda desta competitividade poderia ser atribu?do a um fator sist?mico, o cambio, havendo aumento das importa??es e redu??o das exporta??es no per?odo estudado. Os principais fatores identificados nas entrevistas, por ordem de import?ncia e segundo os entrevistados, foram: o cambio, a pr?tica desleal de isen??o tribut?ria e a falta de atualiza??o do parque industrial brasileiro. O cambio, como principal fator de perda de competitividade do setor de pap?is revestidos, pode ser corroborado atrav?s da an?lise dos dados secund?rios de importa??o crescente e exporta??o declinante no per?odo analisado de 2003 a 2008. O outro fator de pr?tica desleal da isen??o tribut?ria ficou apenas na percep??o dos entrevistados, n?o havendo dados dispon?veis para sua avalia??o pelo pr?prio grau de subjetividade deste tema. O terceiro fator de perda de competitividade apontado nas entrevistas foi a falta de atualiza??o do parque industrial brasileiro. Isto pode ser confirmado pela an?lise dos dados das m?quinas de papel mais velozes e competitivas do mundo em compara??o com as do Brasil, cujas velocidades est?o muito aqu?m das mais competitivas do mundo. O Brasil n?o ? sequer citado no artigo comparativo. Quando os fatores determinantes da competitividade dos pap?is de imprimir revestidos s?o analisados em conjunto, observa-se que o Brasil n?o ? competitivo neste segmento devido a diversos fatores empresarias. Quando a quest?o cambial, que ? um fator sist?mico, aparece em per?odos de valoriza??o cambial, este somente exp?e e agrava mais ainda esta baixa competitividade existente.

Esta tese tem como tema o processo de inovação em organizações da indústria de softwares. Foi desenvolvido um modelo de relacionamento e instrumento de avaliação do potencial de inovação em empresas de software. Para tanto, inicialmente, os fatores facilitadores da inovação foram identificados através do estudo da literatura e pesquisa exploratória junto a dez empresas do setor de software na cidade de Pato Branco-PR. Identificados os fatores, o modelo de relacionamento foi construído, apoiado na opinião de especialistas do setor empresarial e acadêmico. A análise do modelo revelou seis fatores essenciais no processo de inovação: Capital intelectual humano, Seleção de projetos promissores, Liderança orientada à inovação, Estrutura financeira, Procedimentos de prospecção de mercado e Utilização de do mercado. O modelo de relacionamento permitiu construir um instrumento de avaliação do potencial de inovação das empresas do setor de softwares. Este instrumento foi aplicado em campo, avaliando o suporte recebido e o desempenho dos fatores facilitadores da inovação em um conjunto de nove empresas. O modelo de relacionamento e correspondente instrumento de avaliação foram verificados através de estudos de correlação e da própria opinião dos especialistas. O modelo de relacionamento e o instrumento de avaliação podem auxiliar as empresas de software a: (i) entender melhor os fatores que influenciam o processo de inovação e seus relacionamentos; (ii) avaliar o potencial de inovação de sua empresa e (iii) estabelecer um plano de ação para desenvolver esse potencial de inovação. / This thesis is about the process of innovation in companies of the software industry. A relationship model and a tool for assessment of the innovation potential in software companies were developed. Initially, the factors that facilitate innovation were identified through a literature review and an exploratory research comprising ten companies of the software industry located at Pato Branco-PR. After the identification of the factors, the relationship model was constructed, supported by the opinion of experts from the business and university sectors. The model analysis revealed six key factors for the innovation process: human intellectual capital, selection of promising projects, leadership for innovation, financial structure, procedures of market research, and use of market feedback. The relationship model allowed the construction of an instrument for assessing the innovation potential of software companies. This instrument was applied in the field, evaluating the received support and the performance factors that facilitate innovation in a set of nine companies. The relationship model and corresponding assessment tool were tested through correlation studies and expert opinion. The relationship model and assessment tool can help software companies to: (i) better understand the factors that influence the innovation process and their relationships, (ii) assess the innovation potential of their company, and (iii) establish an action plan to develop the potential for innovation.

Este trabalho tem como objetivo principal desenvolver um sistema de avaliação de desempenho de clusters, capaz de analisar as vantagens potenciais que um cluster pode oferecer e concluir a respeito do aproveitamento dessas vantagens e dos aspectos que podem ser aprimorados. Para isso, o trabalho se propõe a: (i) identificar os constructos e variáveis que devem ser utilizados para representar as vantagens potenciais que um cluster industrial pode oferecer; (ii) desenvolver um sistema de avaliação do aproveitamento das vantagens potenciais de um cluster, baseado nos constructos e variáveis identificados; (iii) testar o sistema, avaliando o nível de desenvolvimento, no que tange ao aproveitamento de vantagens potenciais em que se encontra o cluster moveleiro do Oeste de Santa Catarina; e (iv) estabelecer um plano para aprimoramento das operações e consolidação do referido cluster. Esta tese está baseada numa abordagem quantitativa e qualitativa, utilizando questionário aplicado em 112 empresas, grupo focado e entrevistas. Uma das principais contribuições desta tese é a proposição de um modelo capaz de avaliar o aproveitamento das vantagens potenciais de um cluster, auxiliando na tomada de decisão dos envolvidos (poder público, instituições de classe, empresas) e melhoria da competitividade das empresas do cluster em relação às empresas externas. Outra contribuição deste trabalho é a proposição de ações que possam aumentar o aproveitamento das vantagens oferecidas às empresas pertencentes ao cluster moveleiro do oeste de Santa Catarina e à sua competitividade. / The main objective of this work is to develop a performance evaluation system of clusters, able of analyzing the potential advantages that a cluster can offer to its member companies and conclude about the use of these advantages and about the aspects which could be improved. Considering this general objective, this work intends: (i) identify the constructs and variables that should be utilized for represent the potential advantages that an industrial cluster can offer; (ii) develop an evaluation system for access the use of the potential advantages of a cluster, based on the constructs and identified variables; (iii) test the system, evaluating the development level of the west of Santa Catarina furniture cluster, regarding the use of the potential advantages, (iv) establish a plan for the improvement of operations and consolidation of the mentioned cluster. This dissertation is based on a qualitative and quantitative approach, comprising a survey involving 112 companies, focus group and interviews. One of the main contributions of this dissertation is the proposal of a model capable of evaluate the use of the potential advantages of a cluster, assisting on the decision making of the stakeholders (government, class association and companies) and competitiveness improvement of the cluster member companies compared to outside companies. Other contribution of this work is the proposal of a plan of actions that could increase the use of the advantages offered to the member companies of the west of Santa Catarina furniture cluster and their respective competitiveness.

Índice de mercado para o agronegócio brasileiro : proposta de uma carteira /January 2019 (has links)
Resumo: Propor um índice de mercado para o agronegócio brasileiro, a partir da proposta de uma carteira de mercado que reflita o setor do agronegócio brasileiro e sirva como parâmetro para análise de investimento nos principais ramos de atividades agropecuárias. A hipótese que norteou esse estudo é que o Ibovespa, enquanto proxy para uma carteira de mercado, não reflete adequadamente o risco sistemático para análise de investimentos no agronegócio. Desta forma, o índice proposto deriva da criação de uma carteira de mercado para o setor do agronegócio, sendo está calculada com base nas principais culturas agropecuárias que compõem o Valor Bruto de Produção (VBP) do Ministério de Agricultura, Pecuária e Abastecimento (MAPA). As culturas selecionadas foram: soja, bovinos, cana-de-açúcar, frango, milho, leite, café, algodão herbáceo, suínos, laranja, banana, arroz, tomate, batata, uva, trigo e maçã. A composição da carteira foi embasada na participação individual no VBP e teve sua série histórica computada a partir de dados mensais de 2012 a 2018. Os preços das culturas foram extraídos do Centro de Estudos Avançados em Economia Aplicada (CEPEA) e da União Nacional da Bioenergia (UDOP). Adicionalmente, foi criada uma carteira, a partir das ações negociadas na Bolsa de Valores de São Paulo [B³] que estão inseridas nas cadeias do agronegócio, como forma de avaliar se essa carteira com ativos financeiros negociados no mercado poderia ser eficiente para representar o risco sistemático do merc... (Resumo completo, clicar acesso eletrônico abaixo) / Abstract: To propose a market index for Brazilian agribusiness based on the proposal of a market portfolio that reflects the Brazilian agribusiness sector and serves as a parameter for investment analysis in the main fields of agricultural activities. The hypothesis that guided this study is that Ibovespa, as a proxy for a market portfolio, does not adequately reflect the systematic risk for analyzing agribusiness investments. Thus, the proposed index derives from the creation of a market portfolio for the agribusiness sector, which is calculated based on the main agricultural crops that make up the Gross Production Value (GPV) of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (MAPA). The selected crops were: soybean, cattle, sugar cane, chicken, corn, milk, coffee, herbaceous cotton, swine, orange, banana, rice, tomato, potato, grape, wheat and apple. The portfolio composition was based on individual participation in VBP and its historical series was computed from monthly data from 2012 to 2018. Crop prices were extracted from the Center for Advanced Studies on Applied Economics (CEPEA) and the National Union of Bioenergy (UDOP). This thesis evolves around image and its significance while developing customers' loyalty and increasing company's competitiveness in a highly competitive market. The topic is studied in-depth from the organisational perspective and delves into the differing motivations of hotel operators towards shaping favourable image as well as examining how the hotel's image affects customer loyalty and helps the company to increase its competitiveness. Finally, it analyses and compares which public relations tools are the most effective in the process of image creation and developing customer loyalty. From this perspective image becomes a central issue impacting company's future growth, performance and finally success. The research was conducted on the Auckland international hotel chains. Auckland hosts numerous conferences and events that drives demand for accommodation and in a way, creates a conducive environment to hotel operators for future expansion. Thus, hotels compete strongly with one another constantly looking for a competitive advantage by growing their customer base. My thesis outlines the hotels' management efforts and analyses their strategies in the context of changing customers' demands and market trends.With respect to methodological issues, my thesis is based on a qualitative approach and follows an interpretivist paradigm. The research background has been delineated as have been my respondents' profile to provide additional information about the organisation they represent. The research findings described at the end of this thesis document how important image is for a modern hotel and what initiatives should be followed to ensure success. Image and loyalty are closely interrelated as positive image affects customers' loyalty. In order to achieve a balance between sustaining a competitive advantage and increasing loyal customer base a number of managerial implications have been discovered. Detailed analysis of these findings may help the companies to establish a more favourable position in the global market and create mutually beneficial relationships which further help the organisation to grow.Having aimed at exploring the importance of image as a medium that affects company's competitiveness and customers' loyalty towards brand, this study has provided some useful indications for hotel companies as to what should be undertaken to gain loyal customers and improve company's performance on the market.

Environmental Strategy and Competitiveness : An examination of the Swedish construction industryIsaksson, David, Laskin, Joshua January 2010 (has links)
The purpose of this thesis is to study how the process of introducing an environmental strategy has led to competitiveness in the Swedish construction industry. Previous research in the area indicated that there was insufficient empirical evidence in the field and this study hopes to increase the empirical understanding for the relation between the concepts.Research conducted was of qualitative nature and the semi-structured interview was used to gather information from Sweden's three largest construction companies. Managers from the environmental department in the three companies were chosen as respondents and their views on the company's environmental strategy was formed and its relation to competitiveness was captured.The results of the study reviled that the companies have not had a clear relation to competitiveness when developing their environmental strategies and consequently have found it hard to differentiate themselves for their competitors. It was also found that the environmental strategy mainly developed through the pressure of external forces and that there was a lack of internal initiative to include elements of competitiveness into the strategy.

Abstract
The impact of environmental regulation on competitiveness is a major issue of concern to policy makers. It has also been the subject of considerable academic debate in the past few years on environment-competitiveness. The relationship between environmental goals and industrial competitiveness has conventionally been thought of as involving a tradeoff between social benefits and private costs. In the recent decade, the environment-competitiveness debate has been shifted to a new dynamic international competitiveness paradigm. Michael Porter suggested that the traditional trade-off between environmental regulation and competitiveness may have overestimated environmental compliance costs, neglected innovation offsets, and disregarded the affected industry's initial competitiveness.
In this thesis, we aim to examine firm-level evidence to assess the Porter hypothesis as well as the basic correlation between environmental goals and industrial competitiveness. Our approach mainly concentrates on the possibility of Porter hypothesis. Porter hypothesis suggests that more severe environmental regulation may have a positive effect on firm¡¦s performance by stimulating innovation. To capture the dynamic impacts and the incurred adjustments for enterprises in complying with the environmental standard requires a model with dynamic adjustment features. Our investigation shows that the impact of environmental regulation on TFP growth rate could become less detrimental and even positive, confirming the Porter hypothesis. This dynamic pattern is seen clearly in our results in many samples.
