Problematika smyslu života a vybrané aspekty existenciální úzkosti / Issues of meaning of life and selected aspects of existential anxiety

Krátká, Eva January 2013 (has links)
KRÁTKÁ, Eva. The Issues of Meaning of Life and Selected Aspects of Existential Anxiety. Prague, 2012. Dissertation. Charles University in Prague, Philosophical Faculty, Department of Psychology. This dissertation explores issues of experiencing the meaningfulness of life and of selected aspects of existential anxiety, and it verifies whether there is some connection between some measure of meaninglessness of life being experienced and some measure of knowingly experienced existential anxiety and some selected factors which can influence our awareness of our anxiety. The research is focused mainly on adolescents and young and middle-aged adults of different genders, degrees of education and residences in the Czech republic. The survey included 170 respondents and was done with use of quantitative method. Obtained data were processed using the SPSS statistical program, and they are presented in the form of tables, graphs and commentaries. This study confirms an importance and frequency of existential beliefs and experiences and it shows that they are closely connected to an experienced meaningfulness of life and to some personality traits and circumstances of life. Therefore, a deeper research of this area seems to be beneficial and helpful not only from the therapeutic point of view alone.

À procura de sentido da atenção psicológica com adolescentes em privação de liberdade / Seeking sense in psychological attention for adolescents under freedom deprivation

Mosqueira, Sashenka Meza 20 October 2008 (has links)
This work presents an investigation based on questions that emerged from a research on Psychological Accompanying Project for adolescents under freedom deprivation. The clinical practice offered to the juveniles is a part of a Psychological Attention Project at Institutions of the Laboratory of Studies and Practices on Existential Phenomenological Psychology of the IPUSP. In order to contextualize the development of the projects ongoing clinical approach, we revisited the laboratory history and the theoretical origins of its psychological practice. This review raises questions referring to the changes that occurred in the field of the clinical practice due to the reflections brought by the study of the Existential Phenomenology as a philosophical referential that affects psychological research and intervention. After the presentation of the history of the Psychological Accompanying Project, the reader is brought to the institutional context in which it takes place. Subsequent to that, the steps are presented, which were taken along with both of the adolescents that have received psychological care and the ones under treatment in the Psychological Accompanying Project. The search for a sense in psychological attention is carried out through the interpretative analysis of the stories narrated by juveniles describing the way they experienced psychological care. Log books of the projects psychological sessions as well as the supervisions ones complement the narratives in the construction of the sense of the clinical approach done at an institution for adolescents subjected to social-educational freedom deprivation measure.

Disagio esistenziale e ricerca di senso in adolescenza: prospettive pedagogiche e orientamenti educativi alla luce del pensiero di Vicktor E. Frankl / EXISTENTIAL DISEASE AND SEARCH OF MEANING IN ADOLESCENCE: PEDAGOGIC PERSPECTIVES AND EDUCATIVE ORIENTATIONS THROUGH THE TOUGHT OF VIKTOR E. FRANKL

ARIOLI, ANTONELLA 31 March 2011 (has links)
The research suggests a pedagogic reading about adolescents’ existential disease: a phenomenon which assumes more and more alarming appearances in our society. Referring to usual interpretative psychiatric, psychological and sociological models, we express the hypothesis that the frustration of the inalienable human motivation of giving sense to life could be the common matrix of the various forms of youth disease: bullying, unconcern, disorientation, apathy, aggressiveness and addiction. This existential dissatisfaction involves education and the pedagogic way to give an answer to uneasiness through educability and potential resources of the growing subjects, beyond pathological elements and needs to be fulfilled. So, considering Viktor E. Frankl Existential Analysis, which is the theoretic background of this research, the borders of the existential dimension of the adolescents' discomfort reveal themselves, together with the foundation of a pedagogic anthropology able to legitimate the human being’s needs of meaning. The research ends with a proposal of some methodological features, useful to explain the general aim of the “conscience refinement”, heart of genuine search of meaning oriented education.

The relationship between personal meaning, sense of coherence and organisational commitment

Du Buisson-Narsai, Ingra 30 November 2005 (has links)
The present study aimed to investigate the relationships between, personal meaning, sense of coherence, organisational commitment and selected biographical variables, specifically age, tenure and occupational level. It was found that mostly significant positive relationships exist between personal meaning and sense of coherence. Personal meaning and sense of coherence exhibit predictive value for organisational commitment. It was established that self-transcendence plays a significant role in the development of affective and normative organisational commitment. Some significant differences were found between management and non-management employees in the manifestation of personal meaning. Management approximate more personal meaning to achievement, self-acceptance, and fair treatment. On sense of coherence and organisational commitment there were no significant differences between management and non-management employees. It was recommended that the relationship between personal meaning and other positive psychology variables be researched in order to determine the significance of such relationships so as to add to this relatively new body of research. / Industrial and Organisational Psychology / M.Comm.

Logotherapy and imagery work: the contribution of Boeschemeyer’s ‘Wertimagination’

Meyer-Prentice, Monika 14 September 2011 (has links)
In this qualitative, interpretive study a new and promising imagery technique, called Wertimagination (WIM®) [Value-Oriented Imagery] was researched. It was developed by the logotherapist Uwe Boeschemeyer in Germany. At the main focus of this study are the psychotherapeutic work experiences of logotherapists applying WIM®. Their perceptions with regard to Wertimagination’s potencies, limitations and its overall contribution to Logotherapy are explored. Eight semi-structured expert interviews were conducted with German logotherapists offering WIM® at their practice. The interview contents are analysed and compared with supplementing perspectives: with Wertimagination experiences reported by other (logo)therapists, by clients and by the developer of the method (Boeschemeyer), extracted from the existing body of literature. The results show that Value-Oriented Imagery by all three researched parties – (logo)therapists, clients and its developer – is experienced to be a high potential logotherapeutic, salutogenetic (resources-oriented) approach contributing inter alia towards a person’s inner meaning finding, selfacceptance and trust in life. / Psychology / M.A. (Psychology)

Sociologie a existencialismus. Otázka "smyslu" z perspektivy existencialistické sociologie / Sociology and Existentialism. Question of "Purpose" from an Existentialist Viewpoint

Hlaváček, Karel January 2011 (has links)
Diploma thesis Sociology and Existentialism. Question of "Purpose" from an Existentialist Viewpoint deals with the problem of aim and purpose of sociology. First we want to doubt what we grasp as nonproblematic reception of attitudes on what sociology actually is, which is to be found especially in common sociological discourse. We want to accomplish this by challenging sociology to defend itself against what existentialism perceives as ultimate concern of human beings and by suggesting that in order to comply with this challenge sociology should become religious in Tillich's and Fromm's sense. Second we aim to conceptualize what purposeful sociology would mean and analyze how sociology has been loosing purpose. Third we aim to hint at what sociology should do in order to stay purposeful.

Syndrom vyhoření u profesionálů ve zdravotnictví. / Burnout syndrome in Health Care Professionals.

Riethof, Norbert January 2019 (has links)
N. Riethof - Burnout syndrome in Health Care Professionals ABSTRACT Burnout syndrome is a state of total exhaustion related to work condi- tions and prolonged stress. While initial phases of burnout resemble stress symptoms, final phases of burnout are characterized by feelings of hopelessness, loss of meaning and desperation that have similar qual- ities as depression as well as existential vacuum described by Frankl in his logotherapy. In addition, the burnout syndrome involves stages in which people detach from their emotions and feelings as a defense mechanism against stress and have decreased ability to experience their own feelings and emotional states. Burnout usually begins with feelings of enthusiasm and idealized visualizations and it is in contrast with sub- sequent disillusionment, disappointment experienced later. After decades of burnout research, there is still a need for better def- inition of this condition including more precise diagnostic criteria and internationally recognized measurement tools, especially within health care system where the risks of unrecognized and untreated burnout are high. This study is focused on examination of potential causes of burn- out and relationships of burnout symptoms with certain personality traits, defense mechanisms and coping reactions including...

“Det viktiga går att ha kvar.” Existentiella perspektiv på klimatkrisen : en kvalitativ religionspsykologisk fallstudie på individ-, grupp- och samhällsnivå

Vildhammar Okker, Marie January 2024 (has links)
Climate change is perceived as one of the most serious threats to humanity. Overthe last decade self-reported anxiety has increased in the Swedish population, especially among children and young adults. In the context of perceived secularity of the Swedish population, the existential questions in the community and inindividuals might be difficult to address. Therefore, the purpose of this qualitative study was to explore existential perspectives within the scope of climate anxiety, and how young adults cope withthe existential concerns. The study also investigated how professionals support young people experiencing existential questions connected to climate change. The design of the study is holistic including micro, meso and macro levels. Empirical data was collected within the framework of the project Terra-Pi/Klimatkraft, developing methods to support young people to better deal with climate-related thoughts and feelings. Phenomenologically inspired interviews were conducted with three young adults and two professionals whose work involves dimensions of young people´s climate worry. An observation was conducted at a Climate Power Group meeting in the project. Further, the study investigated the meaning of existential health, resilience and climate change in the proposal for a new national strategy for mental health, through a content analysis and an interview with anexpert at the Public Health Agency of Sweden. In this study, a deductive thematic analysis was performed to explore the applicability of the “givens of existence” (Yalom 1980), developmental resilience theory (Masten 2021; Ungar 2021) and the connection between meaning making, health and culture according to psychology of religion in Scandinavia. Participants described experiences of existential dimensions adhered to death anxiety, existential quilt, meaninglessness and meaning, existential isolation and future orientation/temporality. Most important coping strategies were climate activism, support from attachment relationships and finding a personal meaning. The project Terra-Pi/Klimatkraft boosts important protective factors for resilience in the participants, and supports the capacity of the professionals to do so. The proposal for a new national strategy for mental health confirms the connection between existential issues and mental health as well as the importance of increased knowledge and interventions within that field. Society would benefit from social actors providing spaces, contexts and competence for addressing existential issues that the climate crisis evokes.
