Thesis (MBA)--Stellenbosch University, 2012. / ENGLISH ABSTRACT: Entrepreneurship is important to the growth of economies across the world. The businesses surveyed in this report are affiliated to the Western Cape Business Opportunities Forum and were winners and finalists in the Businessperson of the Year Competition. The Western Cape Business Opportunities Forum (WECBOF) was created to facilitate business opportunities and exposure for black and coloured people in the Western Cape. The Cape Flats have played an important role in the economy of the Western Cape in part as a result of an abnormal internal migration over the last 50 years. This population movement was the result of coloured people being affected by specific policies passed by the government of the time, in particular the Group Areas Act (Republic of south Africa, 1950). Through an analysis of empirical data this research project endeavours to facilitate a better understanding of the way in which entrepreneurs operating in small and medium business enterprises affiliated to the Western Cape Business Opportunities Forum (WECBOF) achieved success or ended in failure. This analysis hopes to contribute to the body of knowledge relating to entrepreneurship development in South Africa and in particular within the Western Cape. This research project adopts a statistical analysis approach by means of a questionnaire to examine the issues that relate to the success factors of entrepreneurs affiliated to the Western Cape Business Opportunities Forum. The results are presented in tabular format.

本研究是藉由事件(會議)行銷活動，評估推動政府研發成果溝通效果可能性。如何透過事件行銷整體設計，提升事件本身的話題性吸引媒體報導及促進參與者良好溝通是事件行銷的成功關鍵所在。 本研究藉由了解紡織科技國際論壇暨成果展(TIFE)之實際事件行銷活動四年個案持續內容，透過不同構面分析及參與者調查結果，驗證完整事件行銷規劃，確實提升國內外產業溝通效果。歸納相關研究重要結論如下: 1.活動區分研討會、論壇、靜態展三大部份，配合開幕專題規劃不但具有差異化也兼具整合效益，獲得所有參與者最大肯定與認同，也是事件行銷重要的成功關鍵。 2.開幕典禮專題演講主題規劃及諾貝爾得主邀請，及適當會前記者與主活動廣宣規劃策略，確實製造活動話題性並獲得媒體廣泛報導。 3.活動主題規劃貫穿研討會、論壇及靜態展子題規劃，聚焦活動主軸，使參與者能充分了解紡織產業技術及產品發展與研發成果，獲得國內外參與者的正面肯定與政府(主辦單位)的嘉許。 4.透過邀請學生參與活動使其了解產業發展現況，有助提升對產業永續經營之人才召募。 / The purpose of this study is to evaluate the possibility of promoting communication effect from research results of government supporting project, which is carried out by an event marketing。 In order to identify the fully event process planning which improves the communication effect on local and global textile industries, the study does focus on understanding the continuing promotion reality of TIFE (Textile International Forum and Exhibition) event during last four years and analyzing activity interfaces as well as results from participant’s questionnaires。Some conclusions are shown as follow : 1. The TIFE event includes technology and management symposiums、textile forums and static product shows, which is integrated by planning the opening theme and shows the differentiation and integration advantages of event program 。All these designs of TIFE event are the key issues of event marketing and the main agreement and support received from all event participants。 2. The talk of keynote speech planning in opening celebration, the invitation of the Nobel winners and the proper strategies of news report before the event and the promotion program for main activity are key issues to make the event become popular and reported by News。 3. The theme of TIFE event is connected by sub-themes of technology and management symposiums、textile forums and static product shows, which is focused and make the research results from development of textile technologies and products easy to be recognized by event participants and appreciated by the government officers。 4. By inviting students who do join the event and make them understand the development of textile industries, the help of promoting human resource required by textile industries can be improved 。

Paauglių mokymas/is spręsti jiems aktualias problemas, taikant Forumo teatro metodą, Lietuvoje yra netyrinėta mokslinėje literatūroje tema. Tyrimo tikslas - atskleisti, kokios vidinės (psichologinės) ir išorinės (socialinės) problemos jaudina 17-19 metų paauglius, ir kaip, taikant Forumo teatro metodą, susiformuoja gebėjimai jas iškelti ir konstruktyviai išspręsti. Darbe buvo siekiama išanalizuoti mokslinę, metodinę literatūrą, susijusią su Forumo teatro metodo taikymu; nustatyti Forumo teatro veikimo principus; apibūdinti paauglių požiūrį į Forumo teatro taikymo atitikimą jų poreikiams; išaiškinti, kaip, taikant Forumo teatro metodą, vyksta 17-19 metų paauglių gebėjimų spręsti problemas formavimosi procesas; nustatyti paauglių gebėjimus, įgytus mokymo/si spręsti jiems aktualias psichologines ir socialines problemas procese, taikant Forumo teatro metodą. Siekiant išsamiai ir detaliai išnagrinėti paauglių mokymo/si spręsti jiems aktualias problemas Forumo teatre procesą nuo 2007 m. lapkričio mėnesio iki 2008 m. gruodžio mėnesio 17-19 metų paaugliams buvo organizuoti Forumo teatro užsiėmimai ir atliekamas atvejų tyrimas. Tyrimo metu duomenys buvo renkami stebint atskirų individų ir individų grupių užduočių atlikimą, apklausiant ir fiksuojant (užrašant ir filmuojant) su tyrimo objektu susijusią informaciją. [toliau žr. visą tekstą] / The topic of teenagers teaching and their learning how to solve their urgent problems through the method of Forum Theatre has not been investigated in Lithuanian scientific literature. The purpose of the investigation is to reveal what internal (psychological) and external (social) problems are important to 17-19-year-old teenagers and how the skills of revealing and solving these problems are formed using the method of Forum Theatre. This paper aims to analyze scientific, methodological literature connected with the Forum Theatre method application; establish Forum Theatre effect principles; describe the views of teenagers on how Forum Theatre application meets their needs; find out how, using the method of Forum Theatre, the process of building up teenagers skills of solving problems happens; reveal the abilities of the 17-19-year-olds which they developed through the process of learning-teaching how to cope with their psychological and social problems, using the method of Forum Theatre. Seeking to carry out a detailed investigation of the process of teenagers’ learning-teaching how to solve their urgent problems through Forum Theatre, from November 2007 till December 2008, Forum Theatre lessons were given to 17-19-year-old teenagers, after which the analysis of the cases was performed. The present thesis is concerned with private international law for corporate and insolvency disputes in the context of freedom of establishment. First, it presents the traditional rules of conflict applicable to corporate disputes that have been implemented in some major jurisdictions. Second, it analyses the relevant leading judgments of the European Court of Justice and it demonstrates the way in which, contrary to popular belief, the real seat theory has not been held contrary to freedom of establishment. The thesis then deals with the concept of letter-box companies and examines the limitations that are being placed to the use of freedom of establishment. This is followed by a juxtaposition of the factors that have lead and could lead to regulatory competition for corporate law in the USA and the EU respectively. A modest approach is taken towards the possibility of the latter occurring in the EU. Third, the thesis examines the treatment of insolency disputes in this context. A substantial part of it is dedicated to the definition of the basis for international jurisdiction for the opening of insolvency proceedings, namely the centre of main interests. It argues in favour of an objective test for the identification of the centre of main interests (COMI) and the allocations of certain burdens on both the debtor and the creditors. It then focuses on the treatment of forum shopping in the context on international insolvencies. Based on considerations of consent and economic efficiency, it suggests a definition, according to which certain transfers of the COMI should not amount to forum shopping. Finally, the thesis examines the possibility of a regulatory competition for insolvencies in the EU and seeks to demonstrate that the conditions for such a competition are more analogous between US corporate law and EU insolvency, rather than company, law.
