Isometries of real and complex Hilbert C*-modules

Hsu, Ming-Hsiu 23 July 2012 (has links)
Let A and B be real or complex C*-algebras. Let V and W be real or complex (right) full Hilbert C*-modules over A and B, respectively. Let T be a linear bijective map from V onto W. We show the following four statements are equivalent. (a) T is a unitary operator, i.e., there is a ∗-isomorphism £\ : A ¡÷ B such that <Tx,Ty> = £\(<x,y>), ∀ x,y∈ V ; (b) T preserves TRO products, i.e., T(x<y,z>) =Tx<Ty,Tz>, ∀ x,y,z in V ; (c) T is a 2-isometry; (d) T is a complete isometry. Moreover, if A and B are commutative, the four statements are also equivalent to (e) T is a isometry. On the other hand, if V and W are complex Hilbert C*-modules over complex C*-algebras, then T is unitary if and only if it is a module map, i.e., T(xa) = (Tx)£\(a), ∀ x ∈ V,a ∈ A.

In this dissertation we study lattices in quotient spaces. The basic quotient spaces are: (1) n-dimensional euclidean tori, obtained from quotient of Rn by discrete groups of isometries ge- nerated by linearly independent translations and (2) hyperbolic °at g-tori (tori of genus g ¸ 2), obtained from quotient of hyperbolic plane by fuchsian groups. In the euclidean environment, the considered lattices are provided of the additive group Z2; while in the hyperbolic case the studied lattices are the geometrically uniform and the cyclic ones.

In this dissertation we present a sequence of non-traditional activities, focusing on the teaching and learning of Geometry, in particular regarding the Isometrics in the Plan, elaborated for elementary school students, and the result of its application to eight classes of 9th grade , As a way to develop students\' reasoning skills. We used for this experiment the Design Experiment, a teaching experiment based on continuous improvement, and Van Hiele\'s theory based on Adela Jaime-Pastor\'s (1993) doctoral thesis, with a series of activities elaborated and applied by the teacher/researcher involving the translations and the reflections, through the phases of learning and levels of reasoning that the students develop with the application of this theory. This experiment was divided in two moments, application with four classes of 9th grade in 2015 and application with four other groups of 9th grade in 2016, subdivided into two other situations, activities on translations and activities on reflections. The data of this experiment were obtained through the productions of the students, who worked in doubles, in the classroom, recorded through photos, videos and audios recorded by the researcher herself. We also used the paper dolls of Brigitte Servatius (1997), with which we worked on translations and reflections. The students participating in the experiment finalized it with solid notions of the characteristics of the isometries and a visible progress in their level of knowledge. The way the activities were carried out brought reflexes to the routine of these students in the classroom, making it evident that the search for situations that arouse the students\' interest in an innovative way can generate better results and the motivation of continuous learning.

[en] We will show a version of Multiplicative Ergodic Theorem for subbaditive cocycles due to Karlsson and Margulis. As an application, we will analyze three examples of cocycles in following spaces: graph generated by free group of two generators, hyperbolic disc, space of positive definite symetric matrices. Also, we will use the Theorem of Karlsson and Margulis to prove Theorem of Oseledets.

Semi-groupes de matrices et applications / Matrix semigroups and applications

Mercat, Paul 11 December 2012 (has links)
We study matrix semigroups with different point of view that overlaps. The growth point of view seems to be related with the geometric point of view : we partially generalize to the semigroups a theorem on groups of Patterson-Sullivan-Paulin, that give the equality between the critical exponent and the Hausdorff dimension of the limit set. We obtain this in the general framework of isometries of a Gromov-hyperbolic space, and our proof give also others new results. The computer science point of view is also related to the growth, since we obtain a way to calculate exact values of critical exponents of somes β-adic development semigroups, from a notion of automatic semigroups that we introduce. Furthermore this point of view give a lot of information on these semigroups. This notion of growth shows to be also related to conjectures on continued fractions like Zaremba’s one. And by studing some matrix semigroups we were able to prove some results on bounded periodic continued fractions, doing a little step in the resolution of a conjecture of McMullen.

Codes et tableaux de permutations, construction, énumération et automorphismes / Permutation codes and permutations arrays: construction, enumeration and automorphisms

Bogaerts, Mathieu 22 June 2009 (has links)
D’autres classes de G(n,d) sont étudiées.<p><p><p><p> <p><p><p><p>A permutation code G(n,d) is a subset C of Sym(n) such that the Hamming distance D between two elements of C is larger than or equal to d. In this thesis, we characterize the isometry group of the metric space (Sym(n),D) and we prove that these isometries are automorphisms of the association scheme induced on Sym(n) by the conjugacy classes. This leads, by linear programming, to new upper bounds for the maximal size of G(n,d) codes for n and d fixed and n between 11 and 13. We develop generating algorithms with rejection of isomorphic objects. In order to classify the G(n,d) codes up to isometry, we construct invariants and study their efficiency. We generate all G(4,3) and G(4,5)codes up to isometry; there are respectively 61 and 9445 of them. Precisely 139 out of the latter codes are maximal and explicitly described. We also study other classes of G(n,d)codes.<p><p><p><p> / Doctorat en sciences, Spécialisation mathématiques / info:eu-repo/semantics/nonPublished

Automorphismes des variétés de Kummer généralisées / Automorphisms of generalized Kummer varieties

Tari, Kévin 08 December 2015 (has links)
Ln this work, we classify non-symplectic automorphisms of varieties deformation equivalent to 4-dimensional generalized Kummer varieties, having a prime order action on the Beauville-Bogomolov lattice. Firstly, we give the fixed loci of natural automorphisms of this kind. Thereafter, we develop tools on lattices, in order to apply them to our varieties. A lattice-theoritic study of 2-dimensional complex tori allows a better understanding of natural automorphisms of Kummer-type varieties. Finaly, we classify all the automorphisms described above on thos varieties. As an application of our results on lattices, we complete also the classification of prime order automorphisms on varieties deformation-equivalent to Hilbert schemes of 2 points on K3 surfaces, solving the case of order 5 which was still open.
