Poster like it’s 1999 : Framställningar av huvudpersoner i filmaffischer från 1999. / Poster like it’s 1999 : Depiction of protagonists in movie posters from 1999.

Frosteryd, Victor January 2019 (has links)
The purpose of the thesis is to investigate how movie posters from 1999 portray the film's main characters. I will also investigate the design of the works and find out how effective the poster was for the audience at the cinema. The analysis describes and analyzes movie posters from American films. Four questions were asked to help the essay in reaching its purpose. How are the posters designed? How is the protagonist identified through visual elements in the posters? Is there a recurring theme in how the key art is presented? How effective is the poster for the audience at the cinema? By answering these questions, I intend to gain a greater understanding of the art of film and to contribute to the science of film and marketing.

Jonášová, Helena January 2014 (has links)
The aim of the diploma thesis is to describe and define basic principles of visual communication from the point of view of mass communication theory and classical media theory and to attempt to create a basic synthesis of these branches. The visual communication is currently dominating form of communication not only in advertising and marketing, but also from the point of purely artistic expressing, which nowadays abandons classical conservative techniques and searches for new ways of expressions. The focus on the diploma on European theatre poster, which is a factual synthesis of those trends, allows adequately assessment the relevance of media theory in relation to visual communication as a way of addressing recipients with the information given in a form of an image. Inovativní metoda prevence HIV/AIDS na středních školách / Innovative method of HIV/AIDS prevention in high schools

Peterková, Julie January 2012 (has links)
A B S T R A C T Almost every day each of us can read or hear in the media a lot of distorted information concerning HIV or AIDS. Therefore it is necessary to have knowledge about the possible risks of HIV transmission and all ways the HIV can be transferred. These attitudes and preventive measures of knowledge should be developed in high school students who are experiencing very rapid physical and psychosocial growth. Sufficient amount of information available in the problem group of 15-24 year olds has a positive impact on their sexual behavior and thus on prevention. My research methods of knowledge about HIV were done in two schools, one is an eight-year high school, where 24 students of fifth year were questioned and second is a four- year high school, where 24 students of first year were questioned. I used a cross-sectional pre-test and post-test. Students of the fifth year were taken deeper into the problems through creation of posters on topics connected with the problem of HIV. The aim of my research is to develop proposals for the scientific conference, which will be lead by the students and will be accompanied by the created images (posters). This is a non-violent way of repeating the HIV prevention. Creating a pre-test and post-test to determine the extent of knowledge gained after completing the...

Från Jalla! Jalla! till Snabba Cash : En semiotisk och retorisk kvalitativ analys av affischer från 2000-talet / From Jalla! Jalla! to Snabba Cash : A semiotic and rhetorical qualitative analysis of movie posters from the 21th century.

Jonasson, Daniel, Humble, Lise-Lott January 2012 (has links)
Posters had their breakthrough in 1830-1840’s all thanks to the lithographic printing technique. The poster was used as an advertising tool. In this essay, we have looked at which semiotic and rhetorical elements that are found in today’s Swedish movie posters. What kind of image and text elements does the poster use and with what function? With what and how do they persuade the audience that the movies are interesting and worth seeing? We have taken the most popular Swedish movies between 2001 and 2010, one for each year, going by the statistic found at the website of the Swedish Film Institute. We have first analyzed using a semiotic perspective (signs, codes, denotation, connotation and myth combined with Giddens´ lifestyle sectors). Then we have used a rhetorical perspective using the three persuasion categories: ethos (credibility), logos (logical) and pathos (emotional). The posters vary in their way of using different elements and tactics trying to interest audiences and communicate the intended information. Iconic pictures of people are important carriers of emotional bound codes. Symbolic signs communicate the title and names of participators. Some posters rely on the names of the actors and writers (ethos) while others focus on communicating the story (logos). Pathos is used to set the mood to connotate the genre. Every poster has its strengths and weaknesses. Promoting the strengths in the right way and finding a balance is key.

[en] THE POSTER DESIGN IN CINEMA MARGINAL AND PORNOCHANCHADA / [pt] O DESIGN DE CARTAZES NO CINEMA MARGINAL E NA PORNOCHANCHADA

SIMONE ALBERTINO DA SILVA 16 October 2008 (has links)
[en] The dissertation Poster design in Cinema Marginal and Pornochanchada aims at understanding the way the movie posters from these films genres, in the era between 1968 and 1973, convey, in their graphic characteristics, marks from the historical moment in which they were produced. To achieve this, the selected pieces are analysed from a mainly symbolic perspective, which makes possible for us to perceive that the singularity of the movie poster is not only found in its choices of graphical design, but also in the relationship that is permanently, linked to cinema`s own social imaginary, to social relationships, and to individual affective memory. During the course of this in investigation, an overview of the social, political and cultural contexts of the era is presented, and also an analysis that, from the empirical observation of the movie posters in question, the comparison of different aesthetics and particular narratives to each film genre, and also taking into consideration the different methods of production of the movie poster itself, tries to understand the importance of the movie poster for Brazilian social history, and national development of graphic design, while also identifying the influence of historical context on the development of graphic design, and what could turn the movie poster into a device that can go beyond its original function of commercial communication.
