Školní vzdělávání sportovně nadaných žáků a studentů / The Education of Athletically Gifted StudentsOrlová, Jana January 2015 (has links)
My thesis focuses on the subject of 'education of athletically talented students' on a theoretical and empirical level. The theoretical part describes 'talent' on a general basis followed by a specific description of a 'sporting talent'. It considers the conditions of education of talented students without a particular focus and subsequently discusses the subject of school education of athletically talented students. It introduces the specific aspects of an athlete as a pupil, the factors that influence his/her educational path and the problem of 'dual career'. It also characterizes the conditions of education of athletes in Europe and the system of education in the Czech Republic. The theoretical part is the resource for conducting the empirical part, where the results show how athletes themselves describe and evaluate the conditions of school education. The reaserch of investigated topic whilst using thorough interviews concludes the way athletes perceive this issue.

Profesionální sport a jeho legislativní úprava / Professional sport and its legislationHejl, Filip January 2015 (has links)
Professional sport and its legislation I choose this topic for its currency and for in my opinion ignored need of solving problems mentioned in the thesis. In scope of this thesis I tried not only to assess legal status of individual and collective professional sportsmen or in other words of performance of their activity on professional level, but I also tried to solve chosen problematic points resulting from the confrontation of professional sport activity and strict provisions of Czech law (in particular Labour Code), by which the performance of sport activity and related legal relations are governed. Thesis is systematically divided into four chapters besides the introduction and conclusion which contains other subchapters. These subchapters specify topics contained in chapters. First chapter is the introduction to the topic devoted to reciprocal relation of sport and law. In this chapter I deal with the term "sport" and its possible definition from the law point of view and its basic organization and division in general. There is also one subchapter dedicated to act on support of sport. In second chapter I deal with the performance of sport activity by individual professional sportsman in detail and with two possible options of its inclusion into law. New Civil Code is also reflected here....

Street Fights: Corporate Social Responsibility and a Dragway's Attempt to Reduce Illegal Street RacingGreene, Amanda E, Dotterweich, Andy, Lhotsky, Gary, Davis, Jason 01 January 2015 (has links)
This study sought to explore a professional sport venue’s use of Corporate social responsibility (CSR) to promote positive social change, by addressing illegal street racing, through events designed for community participation. This study specifically looked at public dragracing events, titled “Street Fights,” held at a professional dragway. The purpose of this study was to 1) examine drivers’ awareness of the event’s social responsibility initiatives with Street Fight events and 2) determine if these initiatives are promoting behavioral changes in drivers. Drivers at Street Fight events were surveyed (n=77, 60% response rate) on their levels of awareness of the venue’s social responsibility initiatives, as well as, the event and venue’s overall influence on positive social change within the community. Results showed that Street Fight racers seem to be aware that the events were created to offer a safe, legal, and affordable place to dragrace. Street Fight racers also indicated they were less likely to engage in excessive speeding on open roadways due to their participation in Street Fight events.

Racking Up The Twitter Points: How Professional Hockey Player Identities Are Affected By Twitter UsageJinnah, NAILA 28 April 2014 (has links)
In this thesis, I examine the use of Twitter by NHL athletes to determine how and in what ways professional hockey players’ personal and professional identities are shaped by their use of this medium. I explore the current cultural moment surrounding the lives of NHL athletes, focusing on the increasingly blurred line between their private and professional identities. By grounding my analysis of their Twitter use in a new labour context that is academically situated betwixt the literatures on media studies, celebrity culture and identity presentation, I show that participation in this medium allows both athletes and fans to actively reshape their own and each others’ identities, constructing a new set of standards for professional hockey players that takes into consideration the heightened demand for access to the behind-the-scenes of their lives. The ability of professional hockey players to interact with fans and media on Twitter is also creating new types relationships and producing new discourses for the typical hockey player identity, and the labour this career involves. Finally, through interviews with NHL players, I draw out their motives for using Twitter, their understanding of the impact of their interaction with fans on the perceptions those fans have of their professional identity, and their desire for work-life balance as their professional and personal identities seemingly merge on Twitter in a postmodern labour context fuelled by heightened celebrity culture. / Thesis (Master, Kinesiology & Health Studies) -- Queen's University, 2014-04-27 14:50:32.902

Att leva och hantera livet som professionell fotbollsspelare / To live and manage life as a professional football playerBornebusch, Josephine, Brynsäther, Oscar January 2022 (has links)
The purpose of the study was to investigate the experience of living and managing life as a professional football player. That will say the studies focus is on the participants` experiences of what it is to play football on a professional level and how they experience the demands, barriers, resources and coping strategies that affect them, both in football and in everyday life outside their football career. In the study nine interviewees participated and they were all men between the ages 20-32 years (M= 26.0, SD= 3.20), these participants were in the mastery phase (Wylleman, 2019). The study used a semi-structured interview guide that has been based on two models, the holistic career development model (Wylleman, 2019) and Stambulova (2003) Career transition model. The results of the study show that the demand that football players experience the most are financial demands, where they feel that they can not live on football and need a job alongside. The biggest barrier the participants experienced was mainly social barriers because football takes up a lot of their time, so their social life suffers. Social support from friends, family, coaches and partners was the participants biggest resource, they felt that the support from their loved ones helped them a lot in their careers in football and outside. The coping strategies that the participants used mainly were the social coping strategies such as going to talk to someone professional or with family, friends, coaches or partners.

Le journalisme sportif pris au jeu : Sociologie des principes de légitimité professionnelle / Sport journalism caught up in the game : Sociology of professional legitimacy principlesSouanef, Karim 22 November 2013 (has links)
Sport journalists are said to be ‘supporter journalists’. They are supposed to be emotional and then barely closed from the detachment required by professional excellence. This dissertation uses cross materials (archives, interviews, ethnography, and content analysis) to give a broader picture of this occupation. It shows that sport journalism’s history has to do with sport business and the legitimization of a market driven journalism. However, such a market driven conception makes do with - sometimes critical - proximity with its object. Such a mass media conception of the sports news is reproduced via schools of journalism. It is all the more efficient since this schools’ teaching fit the economical reality and students’ expectations toward their future work as a “universe of consolation” to pursue their passion for sport. Sport journalism is still regarded from a legitimist point of view as a low-grade journalism, it occupies nowadays a very central position in the professional hierarchy. Then, once should reconsider dominant norms of journalism. Furthermore, the specialists feels “on their place” as they consider their work as a “universe of consolation” to pursue their passion for sport
