Kruger, Reinette January 2010 (has links)
This study deals with pastoral guidance for persons who, due to unresolved trauma, are often emotionally and spiritually wounded and consequently exhibit internalised lies. Some important questions relating to this theme put on the table here include the following: * What is the origin of an internalised lie? * What effect do these lies have on the life of the wounded person? * What is truth and how can it be discerned? * How can the wounded person be guided and protected in the renewal of his/her thinking? The basic–theoretical research shows that being emotionally wounded and the accompanying internalisation of lies usually take place during childhood. This is the period when the child does not have the verbal, emotional or spiritual competence to interpret correctly or assimilate trauma and the accompanying injury. Further it transpires that the emotionally wounded person is engaged in a daily struggle with Satan and that the struggle mainly lodges in his heart and thoughts, and is based on lies. From this section it is also clear that only truth can overcome the onslaught of Satan's misrepresentation and that the truth can only be reached in a relationship with Jesus Christ. The wounded person has the choice of whom to follow, Satan or Jesus. It is therefore essential for such a person to take up the daily responsibility for the renewal and control of his mind. For this the Lord provides special weapons with which the struggle for renewal of one?s thoughts can successfully be approached. Meta–theoretical research has shown that optimal brain functioning is of cardinal importance in the renewal of the mind since behaviour, personality, cognitive ability, emotions as well as thoughts all originate in the brain. The brain is the most complex organ in the human body and the way it functions affects a person?s choices, vision and personality as well as success or failure in life. In the case of a person manifesting broken relationships or compulsive behaviour patterns, it must first be ascertained whether the brain functions correctly before labelling the person with some or other abnormality. The study shows that the brain does have the ability to recover with the help of diet and exercise as well as attitude of mind. The empirical study involved six collaborators who had been exposed to inter–generative trauma and consequently had exhibited internalised lies. Information relevant to trauma, medical background, head injuries and the family of origin was collected and after being processed, was presented in a genogram. The structure and style of every family as well as the role of the particular respondent in every family was represented schematically and explained to the respondent. From the practical–theoretical section it clearly emerged that emotional and spiritual healing can only take place by means of God's Word and his truth. In this respect it is essential that the injured person should take daily responsibility regarding the renewal of his mind. After all, transformation is a process demanding patience and practice as well as faith in Christ and it is clear that there are no shortcuts to healing. To reach the necessary goals in this process an integrated holistic approach is necessary where the different neighbouring sciences are involved. / Thesis (Ph.D. (Pastoral))--North-West University, Potchefstroom Campus, 2011.

CRISIS, INSOLVENCY AND RESTRUCTURING. AN AMERICAN MODEL IN EUROPE: THE Z-SCORE. A NEW APPROACH AND POSSIBLE EVOLUTIONS

CERRI, ANDREA 31 March 2014 (has links)
After one of the worst world economic and financial crisis, the insolvency prediction has become one of the most debatable topics among scholars. In order to satisfy both the professional investors’ needs and the internal evaluation process, the Thesis rediscovers the original Altman “Z-score” model, known for its convenience. This model is still largely used in the US equity markets but, also for its origin, has hardly been applied to the European equity index. The Thesis investigates and describes the operating characteristics of Altman’s Z-score, evaluating its performance as a tool for insolvency prediction in today's European market. The base model capability is tested examining 568 companies, listed in the main stock indexes of 7 European markets, between 2000 and 2010. A large variability among different industries arises from the analysis conducted. The Thesis results prove that the model is user-friendly but a substantial inability to predict the risk of default in Europe if used in its original form. The second research question try to analyse how could the model be useful for the European markets, testing the Z score over good heath and insolvent firms from 3 industrial groups. The research studies how the model’s results could be evaluated from a new perspective, focusing on individual industrial sectors results. The research also tries to evaluate qualitative elements alongside the quantitative ones, in order to give a harmonized and comprehensive estimation of the insolvency risk.

An Analysis Of Change In Pre-service Teacher Education In Turkey By Using Chaos Theory

Somuncuoglu, Yesim 01 December 2003 (has links) (PDF)
This study was conducted to investigate the change in pre-service teacher education in Turkey by using Chaos Theory. The research questions were the following: 1) How did the 1982 restructuring relate to the 1998 restructuring? (2) What were the reasons for the anomalies that led to the 1998 restructuring? (3) How did the 1998 process of transformation work? (4) At which stage of the curve is the system now? (5) What are the possible paths the new model may evolve? The data sources in this qualitative research study were interviews and documents. The 28 participants of the interviews included some key decision-makers at related institutes and some academic staff at 8 different Education Faculties in Ankara, EskiSehir, Bolu, Adana, and KirSehir. The written documents included some relevant reports, meeting minutes, the proceedings of conferences and panel discussions, research articles, and some articles of four different newspapers in Turkey. A model of &lsquo / Change as Chaotic Transformation&rsquo / was designed by the researcher as a theoretical framework. The data, subjected to a content analysis, revealed that the logic of chaotic transformation has significant implications in investigating and understanding the stability versus instability phases in teacher education affairs in Turkey / roughly 1950s - 1970 (evolution and stability), 1970s (disequilibrium and turbulence), 1982 &ndash / early 1990s (&lsquo / forced stability&rsquo / ), and mid-1990s to 1998 (turbulence and transformation) are significant phases in this sense. The data also revealed that the reasons for the anomalies that led to the 1998 restructuring were in both program and administrative issues. Further, the process of transformation in 1998 was &lsquo / self-organization.&rsquo / It is found that presently the 1998 model is perceived as not yet institutionalized / the achievements in program issues realigned teacher education to its &lsquo / identity&rsquo / , but the path the new model may evolve depends on the clarification and institutionalization of &lsquo / governance&rsquo / and implementing strategies for developing &lsquo / human resources&rsquo / (the teacher educator profile).

Immigrant Domestic Women Workers In Ankara And Istanbul

Celik, Nihal 01 September 2005 (has links) (PDF)
This study focuses on the relationship between global economy and women&rsquo / s labor within a feminist standpoint by examining the personal and occupational experiences of immigrant women doing domestic work in Turkey. The main concern of this study is to investigate how working and living experiences of immigrant domestic women workers in Turkey are shaped by their illegal worker and immigrant status. The aim of this study is to listen to the personal experiences of immigrant domestic women workers from themselves, and understand their working conditions and social life experiences in Turkey. There emerged a trend in trading domestic workers between the poor and rich countries since 1990s where many parties, including governments, illegal recruitment agencies, and individual employers benefited. The high unemployment, poverty, shortfalls in living standards, and loss of government-sponsored public services due to the IMF policies implemented by the governments of developing countries severely affected poor and women. For their family survival, women of developing countries forced to migrate in order to seek domestic work in richer countries, where there is a high demand of middle class women for domestic workers. On the other hand, since domestic work is devalued as informal work, policy-makers do not pay sufficient attention, and provide a legal framework regulating the recruitment process and protecting the rights of immigrant domestic women workers. Therefore, immigrant domestic women workers are in a vulnerable position and open to exploitation due to their illegal and immigrant status. Turkey has been one of the domestic worker exporting countries since early 1990s mostly from post-Soviet countries. However, she neither has bilateral agreements with the sending countries nor a legal framework protecting the rights of immigrant domestic women workers. Hence, immigrant women are subject to arbitrary treatment and exploitation both in their workplace and outside, and remained invisible.

To Hell in a Handcart Educational realities, teachers' work and neo-liberal restructuring in NSW TAFE

Clark, Judith January 2003 (has links)
This thesis examines the impact of neo-liberal economic restructuring on teachers, specifically teachers in technical and further education. Historically, there has been limited research undertaken on teachers as workers, and even less on TAFE teachers. During the period covered by the study, TAFE was buffeted by the massive changes, social, political, cultural and economic, that were occurring on a global scale. As a result, TAFE has been a system in crisis. The consequences are addressed by an empirical study that examines NSW TAFE teachers' experience of the great changes that have occurred to their work since the late 1980s. Forty-one teachers were interviewed in tape recorded sessions lasting around one hour each. The respondents were drawn from twenty-seven teaching sections across all the major industry areas represented in TAFE. Twenty of the teachers were from metropolitan locations, twenty-one were regional. Nine managers were also interviewed, from Head of Studies to senior management levels, covering those with local as well as state-wide responsibilities. The changes to TAFE have been driven by a pervasive neo-liberal ideology adopted by both major parties in Australia. This study documents the experience of TAFE teachers as that ideology led to a corporatised vocational education and training system strongly oriented to the market. It also records their responses to the narrowing of curriculum that resulted from the "industry-driven" vocational education and training policies of governments. The study gives voice to their grief, frustration and anger as their working conditions deteriorated and their commitment to quality education was undermined. The study documents the teachers' resistance to the processes of organisational fragmentation, the increasing incidence of cost-driven, rather than educational, decision-making, and the commodification of curriculum driven by a series of policy decisions taken at both national and state level. The study compares these experiences with those of the TAFE managers, whose response to the crisis, while differing from that of the teachers, supports the teachers' commitment to public education as a social good. The study concludes that the NSW TAFE teachers' resistance has continued to act as a brake on the excesses of neo-liberalism. Some possibilities for an alternative vision of technical and further education thus remain.

AS REESTRUTURAÇÕES CURRICULARES DO CEFD/UFSM: A HISTÓRIA NÃO CONTADA / THE CURRICULUM RESTRUCTURINGS OF CEFD/UFSM: THE UNTOLD STORY

Fuchs, Marcius Minervini 15 March 2016 (has links)
This research is in the midst of discussions about educational public policies and formation of physical education teachers. It enters in the discussions of the research line Social-cultural and educational aspects of Physical Education more specifically on teacher training. The study researched how they were created, specifically about teacher training. The study researched how the correlations of strength of actors were given in the processes of curricular restructuring of CEFD/UFSM that resulted in the curricula of 2005 (Degree), 2006 (Bachelor) and 2009 (Constitution of the joint committee for the construction of a formation curriculum only in Degree) from bibliographical study, document analysis and semi-structured interviews. The social actors who were involved in their respective committees of curriculum restructuring were interviewed. The study has as its main objective analyze and document these restructuring processes from the analysis of the correlation of forces of social actors and their roles in the implementation of the educational public policies related to curriculum guidelines or their resistance. In the data analysis it is realized that sectors were structured with proposals of opposing projects that came in a dispute from the beginning. After researching, the constitution processes of the current curricula in vogue, it is raised the hypothesis that these relations were stabilized with agreements, creating a consensus between the parties. In the reunification process the student struggle was the protagonist, however, the majority sector of the teachers managed to use the institutional apparatus to halt the process, which was not approved until the present day. Therefore, CEFD continues with the fragmented training, and the individual interests overcome the the collective interests.

Considering the need for Veterinarians involved in Public Health and the concern over the academic graduation training this area, the present work was shaped with the objective of performing a situation diagnosis over the teaching of Veterinary Public Health in the under graduation courses of Veterinary Medicine in São Paulo State. A documentary research was made to analyze curriculums taking as sources the curricular matrix used in the courses, and for identification of the student’s notions, two types of questionnaires were developed and applied individually to students attending first, third and fifth year. The results made clear that the curricular grade don’t privilege the Veterinary Public Health area of acting, leading the students to an individual and healing development in no awareness of its role in society, and the subjects related to the Veterinary Public Health area of acting have minimized hours, beyond being offered in the latest periods of the course which doesn’t promote the forthcoming of the students to the area. The analysis of the questionnaires showed that the students’ profile of Veterinary Medicine graduation courses is composed in its most, by young woman, that didn’t decide for the career in a well marked way and showed that the motivation for the course was influenced by its affective side and that the students generally don’t know the meaning and importance of the veterinary professional acting in the Veterinary Public Health area, and further not dedicating themselves properly to the related area activities. Thers, an organization in the Veterinary Medicine teaching is necessary based on the gathering of all acting areas using an interdisciplinary strategy and a change in the way of thinking and training professors, beyond their team work in each course

According with specific historical and social contexts, we observe the emergence of different orderings in which the relation between capital and labor is increased beyond the conditions stated objective. We analyzed one of these contexts in a traditional sugar mill and ethanol in the region of Ribeirao Preto, state of São Paulo, between the 1960 and 1990. Originated from a farm that was once the second largest producer of coffee, this plant has retained many features of that period as the provision of housing of old "colonies" and the management of patrimonial work, reconciled with elements of rationalization of production and work. The approach allows us to assert that conjuncture the existence of an effective link between the traditional and modern forms, which established relationships between plant owners and residents. So specifically, we found a set of counterparts given by the company families of residents, with regard not only to housing but also the entry and growth within the frameworks of these hierarchical the company. Through the company's historical reconstruction and recovery the trajectories of the families who resided in their homes, discuss this model, its intrinsic characteristics, as well as the conditions that led to his disappearance on account of restructuring production in the 1990.

Marques, Rejane Siqueira Silva 06 June 2012 (has links)
Made available in DSpace on 2016-06-02T20:39:17Z (GMT). No. of bitstreams: 1 4895.pdf: 3892659 bytes, checksum: 7392fe8511fc49f554c72cbd742160d8 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2012-06-06 / The title of this research is intended to be provocative enough in a scenario where the qualification is seen as the "touchstone" and with which workers, as to possess, compete advantageously in the market. In the case of this sector, much is present the argument that there is not enough skilled labor force that can corroborate the productive restructuring of the agricultural sector, especially by providing the necessary conditions for the implementation of mechanized harvesting and consequent reduction of activity manual cutting cane sugar, seen as a precarious job. Part of the resolution of this issue would be on the qualification of cane cutters and reintegration of those in the productive sphere. Understanding professional qualification as a set of knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform a particular work process, so that the need of capital to expand the profit rate is met, a study was conducted on a group of companies located in the region of sugarcane Triangulo Mineiro/Alto Paranaiba- MG, with the goal of understanding the implementation process of professional qualification programs targeted to sugarcane workers. Research shows that over 80% of the sugarcane farm workers - especially those with low education and migrate constantly - has not been contemplated by the professional training program developed by the group. The program was targeted at young workers and urban experiences of work, making the qualification they went through, only a certification of skills they already possessed. In this sense, the discourse on the qualification of the cane cutters is presented more as an industry rhetoric than action to minimize unemployment generated by mechanization.
