Prissättning av periodiseringskvalitet : En studie på den nordiska marknaden

Pettersson, Christoffer, Östlund, Linnéa January 2021 (has links)
This study investigates if accruals quality is a priced risk factor for Nordic countries being traded on a regulated market in the Nordic countries during 2010–2019. Earlier studies argue that accruals quality is a proxy for information risk, but different authors find different results regarding whether accruals quality is a priced risk factor or not. By using the Dechow & Dichev model (2002), modified by McNichols (2002), we measure accruals quality as the standard deviation of regressions that match accruals to cash flow. We measure the risk premium by dividing the entities into quintiles and use an equal-weighted portfolio that sells the stocks in the two quintiles with the highest accruals quality and buys the two quintiles with the lowest accruals quality. We find a significant negative coefficient in a two-stage cross-sectional regression which shows that accruals quality is not a priced risk factor in the Nordic countries.

Comparison of Indirect Inference and the Two Stage Approach

Hernadi, Victor, Carocca Jeria, Leandro January 2022 (has links)
Parametric models are used to understand dynamical systems and predict its future behavior. It is difficult to estimate the model’s parametric values since there are usually many parameters and they are highly correlated. The aim of this project is to apply the method of indirect inference and the two stage approach to estimate the drift and volatility parameters of a Geometric Brownian Motion. This was first done by estimating the parameters of a known Geometric Brownian process. Then, the Coca-Cola Company’s stock was used for a five-year forecast to study the estimators’ predictive power. The two stage approach struggles when the data does not truly follow a Geometric Brownian Motion, but when it does it produces highly efficient and accurate estimates. The method of indirect inference produces better estimates, than the two stage approach, for data that deviates from a Geometric Brownian Motion. Therefore, it is preferable to use indirect inference over two stage approach for stock price forecasting. / Kandidatexjobb i elektroteknik 2022, KTH, Stockholm

Performance Evaluation and Prediction of 2-D Markovian and Bursty Multi-Traffic Queues. Analytical Solution for 2-D Markovian and Bursty Multi-Traffic Non Priority, Priority and Hand Off Calling Schemes.

Karamat, Taimur January 2010 (has links)
Queueing theory is the mathematical study of queues or waiting lines, which are formed whenever demand for service exceeds the capacity to provide service. A queueing system is composed of customers, packets or calls that need some kind of service. These entities arrive at queueing system, join a queue if service is not immediately available and leave system after receiving service. There are also cases when customers, packets or calls leave system without joining queue or drop out without receiving service even after waiting for some time. Queueing network models with finite capacity have facilitated the analysis of discrete flow systems, such as computer systems, transportation networks, manufacturing systems and telecommunication networks, by providing powerful and realistic tools for performance evaluation and prediction. In wireless cellular systems mobility is the most important feature and continuous service is achieved by supporting handoff from one cell to another. Hand off is the process of changing channel associated with the current connection while a call is in progress. A handoff is required when a mobile terminal moves from one cell to another or the signal quality deteriorates in current cell. Since neighbouring cells use disjoint subset of frequency bands therefore negotiation must take place between mobile terminal, the current base station and next potential base station. A poorly designed handoff scheme significantly decreases quality of service (QOS). Different schemes have been devised and in these schemes handoff calls are prioritize. Also most of the performance evaluation techniques consider the case where the arrival process is poisson and service is exponential i.e. there is single arrival and single departure. Whereas in practice there is burstiness in cellular traffic i.e. there can be bulk arrivals and bulk departures. Other issue is that, assumptions made by stochastic process models are not satisfied. Most of the effort is concentrated on providing different interpretations of M/M queues rather than attempting to provide a new methodology. In this thesis performance evaluation of multi traffic cellular models i.e. non priority, priority and hand off calling scheme for bursty traffic are devised. Moreover extensions are carried out towards the analysis of a multi-traffic M/M queueing system and state probabilities are calculated analytically.

Svenska Bankers Effektivitet : En studie om Swish påverkan på de svenska bankernas effektivitet / The Efficiency of Swedish Banks : A Study on Swish's Impact on the Swedish Bank Efficiency

Melin, Erik, Pettersson, Albert January 2023 (has links)

Phase Shift Modulation Techniques for Bidirectional Onboard Chargers in Electric Vehicles

Yuan, Jiaqi January 2023 (has links)
Bidirectional onboard chargers (OBCs) are becoming mainstream commercial charging equipment for electric vehicles (EVs) because of their compactness, flexibility, and demand-response capabilities for power backup. This thesis focuses on the novel phase shift (PS) modulation techniques for efficiency improvement for bidirectional OBCs, including two-stage onboard chargers (TSOBCs) and single-stage onboard chargers (SSOBCs). A comprehensive overview and investigation of the state-of-the-art solutions of bidirectional OBCs are presented. It reviews the current industrial status, industrial applications, and future trends and challenges. A detailed overview of the promising topologies for bidirectional OBCs, including two-stage and single-stage structures, is also discussed in this thesis. Traditional PS modulation has been widely used in the back-end DC/DC converters of the TSOBCs because of its simple implementation. However, it is challenging to keep high efficiency at boundary operating points within wide specifications. Therefore, to improve efficiency at the boundary point for TSOBCs, the hybrid multiple phase shift (HMPS) modulation technique with minimal peak current optimization is presented to maximize the zero-voltage switching (ZVS) range. Compared to traditional single phase shift (SPS) modulation, the experimental results verify that the presented HMPS modulation strategy provides 1%-2% higher efficiency at the boundary points. On the other hand, an improved compact SSOBC topology and novel PS modulation techniques are proposed. Since the traditional PS modulation is challenging for AC/DC converters to keep a unity power factor (PF), novel PS modulation techniques are presented for the proposed SSOBC. Firstly, a sinusoidal single phase shift (SSPS) modulation introduces a sinusoidal phase shift to maintain a high PF and high efficiency within a wide operating point. However, due to the high current at the zero-crossing point of the grid voltage of the SSPS modulation, the novel adaptive sinusoidal single phase shift (ASSPS) modulation is presented to address this issue, which reduces conduction loss and increases efficiency. Secondly, based on the ASSPS modulation, the adaptive sinusoidal extended phase shift (ASEPS) modulation with minimal peak current optimization is presented to introduce one more degree of freedom to extend the ZVS flexibility, which reduces switching loss. Moreover, the minimal peak current optimization reduces transformer current, further decreasing conduction losses. Therefore, the power loss is minimized. Finally, this thesis presents the general design guideline of a 6 kW Silicon Carbide (SiC)-based bidirectional SSOBC, contributing to the further development of bidirectional SSOBC application. Experimental results verify the operating principle and high PF of the proposed SSPS, ASSPS, and ASEPS modulation. 1 kW experimental testing has validated that the peak efficiency is 95.3% with ASSPS modulation and 95.9% with ASEPS modulation. Compared to the existing pulse width modulation (PWM), the ASSPS modulation increased efficiency by 1.1%, and ASEPS modulation further increased by 1.7%. / Thesis / Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)
