Representationer av döden i ungdomsfilm utifrån analyser av Hungerspelen och Jag saknar dig / Regarding death in youth movies, analysis of Hunger Games and I miss you

Stävmo, Lena January 2013 (has links)
Regarding death in youth movies, analysis of Hunger Games and I Miss You   Today, death is not as present in our everyday life as it was before when everyone knew how death both looked and smelled. This means that media today has a different role and that media can help their viewers to mourn and become aware of death in a completely different way. In this study, death is analyzed as an representation; how it affects and is experienced in two selected youth films, The Hunger Games, (Gary Ross, 2012) and Jag saknar dig/I Miss You (Anders Grönros, 2011). Previous studies mostly analysis death as a figure, and in accordance with these studies have concentrated on different physical descriptions of death; often about diseases or how death is portrayed in the news. In my opinion, these studies lack the perspective of how death is presented, but also how young people respond to these deceptions of death. This essay highlight different perspectives and show more of how death occurs, how the cinematic look is described and how young people react to what is happening on the screen. In this thesis I have described the sound and the colors, but also results from other studies in which children and young people have responded to questions of how they have viewed death in different contexts, which then have been applied to the two films based on the different ages limits and restrictions set by the Swedish Media Council.

von Bahr, Mikael January 2018 (has links)
Abstract Religion and social work has a historical connection. A lot of social work comes from religious roots. In my career as a social worker I have wondered why religious aspects of social work are marginalized. The aim of this paper is to discuss how religious dimensions can be included to develop culture competence in social work with youth in Sweden The research questions asked are: -       What views on religion held by young people are presented in the text “Främmande är skrämmande”? -       How can this be analysed based on theories of the functioning of religions in the lives of young people? -       What approaches in previous research may be relevant to pay attention to religious dimensions to develop understanding of cultural competence in social work?   The method I used was qualitative thematic analysis and the theories for the analysis were deprivation theory and socialization theory. The conclusion shows that the young people in the text differentiate their own view of religion and others' views on religion. Clearly, they describe the views of others on religion on the basis of a functional religious definition where religion becomes the explanation model for devastating behavior, for example in the media's production of perpetrators in terrorism councils and the like. The work shows that earlier research examples of the introduction of religion in social work would also be possible approaches for attending to religious dimensions in order to develop the understanding of cultural competence in social work in Sweden today. This in terms of education, method and approach.

Ando, Marta Yumi. January 2011 (has links)
The experimental procedures with regard to metalinguistic resources, such as the verbal-visual configuration, the handling of the poetic language and the construction of narration point of view, used by the authoress in her poetic laboratory, are verified. Prior to such procedures, data about the authoress and her literary work are provided and the story of the selected narratives and their respective themes are given. The concept of performance, highlighted for the analysis of experimental resources, is analyzed owing to the metalinguistic nature materialized in these narratives in which narration often coincides with doing. Within the above point of view, Lygia Bojunga‟s writings are analyzed according to the graphic, linguistic and discursive performance aspects. Investigation of these resources is undertaken by studying the verbal-visual structure by means of which the text literally manifests itself and configures uncannily the interaction between text and reader. Further, the handling of the poetic language is examined, taking into account playfulness and its effects on the reader. Finally, the narrative enunciation is analyzed with regard to the articulation and the dramatization of discursive voices. Whereas in the first aspect, fusion and alternation of voices in the discourse are investigated, in the second, the presentification of narrative events and the demonstrative character of signs in their deictic construction are analyzed. Within the composition process the here-and-now of the enunciation is consequently enhanced / Doutor

Families of people with experience of psychosis : exploring the impact of family interventions and understanding the role of young people in their parent's care

Wells, Holly January 2017 (has links)
Background: While literature indicates a positive impact of family interventions (FIs) on people with experience of psychosis, less is known about outcomes for other family members involved with these interventions. Furthermore, there is a paucity of literature offering an understanding of how young people with a parent with experience of psychosis view themselves in relation to their parent’s care. In the context of community care for psychosis, consideration of family views and outcomes is important in establishing how their needs may best be met. Aim: The thesis aims were twofold: (a) to systematically review the literature to explore the impact of single FIs for psychosis on family members, establish whom outcomes are being gathered for, and to what extent children and young people are involved; and (b) to develop an understanding of how young people with a parent with experience of psychosis conceptualise themselves in the context of their parent’s care. Method: A systematic search of the literature was conducted in October, 2016. Additionally, 12 interviews were carried out with 11 young people (aged 14-18 years) with a parent with experience of psychosis. A grounded theory approach was employed. Results: 21 studies were included in the systematic review. 86% revealed at least one positive outcome for family members engaging with FIs. None of the studies included children or young people. In the empirical study, a provisional theory was generated and at the core of this is how young people establish and negotiate their role in relation to their parent’s care in the context of adolescence; balancing caring for and/or living with a parent with experience of psychosis with “being a teenager”. This process appears dependent on young people’s perception of parental needs and supports and among other factors, seems to be facilitated by having appropriate information (that is specific and formulation based). Young people perceiving adults to view them as “too young” appears to be a significant barrier to this. Conclusion: The systematic review points towards a generally positive impact of FIs on family members but involvement of children and young people is lacking. The empirical study highlights that parental psychosis appears to pose additional and unique challenges to young people, particularly in the context of adolescent development; emphasising the need for better support, appropriate information sharing and adults recognising and validating young people’s experiences. Future research would benefit from the exploration of inclusion of children and young people in FIs.

The construal processes of families affected by parental acquired brain injury, and the implications for adjustment in young people and their families

Coppock, Clare January 2017 (has links)
Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) has been associated with significant family disruption, yet few studies explore the experiences of child-relatives. This cross-sectional study sought to explore the experiences of young people and their families (n = 3) following parental ABI. The major aims were (1) to develop an understanding of the processes by which family members make sense of events, and (2) to explore the implications for adjustment in young people and their families. A Personal Construct Psychology (PCP) methodology was implemented and construal processes were identified through individual interviews facilitated by Perceiver Element Grids (PEG; Procter, 2002). The Family Assessment Device (FAD; Epstein et al., 1983) and the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ; Goodman, 1997) were used to explore aspects of adjustment. Data analysis comprised of two parts; intra-family and inter-family exploration of similarities and differences in construal. The themes identified suggest that following ABI, family members may be faced with a process of reconstrual, in which they are required to assimilate new information into their construct systems, renegotiate their roles, and come to terms with loss. The research offers an insight into some of the processes that may contribute to patterns of interpersonal relating that may negatively impact on adjustment. Psychological support following parental ABI may therefore be a crucial component of supporting young people and their families through these changes whilst reducing the impact on their own psychosocial wellbeing. This research offers an insight into the experiences of three families at one moment in time. Further exploration is recommended to better inform clinical practice, and ensure that the needs of this population are not overlooked.

Juventude em discurso nas políticas públicas

Frezza, Marcia January 2008 (has links)
The present dissertation had as research question the problematization of the emergence of young people as object of investment of government policies. This work is inserted in the field of research in Social Psychology. We adopted as theoretical and methodological reference concepts and analysis proposed by Michel Foucault. Additionally, concepts developed by Dreyfus, Rabinow, Castel, Bauman, Sposito, Castro, Rojas, Abramovay, among others, were proficuous for the analysis. We analysed documents of two projects of government policies designed for young people — one in Brazil, the Consórcio Social da Juventude, and another in England, the Northamptonshire Millennium Volunteers — that planned actions in the fields of education and/or professional training. For the analysis, we considered the context of government policies for young people in both countries. It was possible to establish contacts with some professionals who worked in the projects, which contributed for the research work and analysis. We examined the statements and discourses on young people that operate in the government policies. We sought to highlight the ways of being that emerged as possibilities for the young people who took part in the projects. Based on the elements culled from the statements, we defined three main axes for the process of analysis: volunteering youth, vulnerable youth and working youth. The developed problematization made it possible to speak of more collective processes and relations that highlight the ways how some youth generalities are constructed in the contemporaneity.

Trento, Dagoberto January 2017 (has links)
This work deals with a construction of a strategy for cooperative financial institutions to approach relationship with the generation of digital natives, young people born after 2000, with the emphasis on Sicredi (Cooperative Credit System). In this applied research, the evaluation of characteristics of young people covered the following topics: personal development with behavioral aspects, valuation and theirs vision about the financial institutions. To make this survey, several sources of research with young people from Brazil and other countries were used. Likewise, this research observed the Sicredi, seeking to evaluate how young people born from the 2000 year are currently related themselves to this company. In addition, the research sought to identify, through interviews with different Sicredi executives, how the company is preparing to relate to this new generation that begins to enter the financial market, what challenges Sicredi will have to overcome to get closer them and how technology can be an ally in this process. The results of this research identified the connection between the cooperative model and the young people's wishes and at the same time the absence of a cooperative strategy of Sicredi to reach these young people. This is a work that seeks to present a medium-term and long-term vision of the future, since the generation of Digital Natives is still a generation that rises in the financial market.

Sperotto, Ana Paula Queiroz January 2017 (has links)
The aim of this thesis is to analyze the evolution of preselected school indicators (school attendance, average years of schooling, completed or attended school levels, and the variable study and work context) of young people in the 15- 29 age group, in the Porto Alegre metropolitan area, between 1993 and 2014, through the expansion policies access, either in the universalization of Primary Education, or in the significant expansion of access to Secondary Education, or in the insertion in higher education, by means of programs such as the University for All Program, the Student Financing Fund and the Restructuring and Expansion of Federal Universities, and the Quotas Law (Law no. 12.711 / 2012). The source of information used is the micro database of Employment and Unemployment Research of Porto Alegre Metropolitan Area (PED-RMPA). The results obtained indicate a significant increase in access to schools, higher schooling and reduction of educational inequalities among youths aged 15 -29. However, the extent of access policies still fall short of ending up with the differentials in access and schooling among young men and women and has contributed little to the equality of young black and non-black youths. Two variables were of fundamental importance for this research: study and work context and per capita family income groups. The variable study and work context includes the categories of young people who only study, young people who study and work, young people who study and seek work, young people who only work, young people who are looking for work and young people who do not study and / or do not seek work. The variable per capita family income groups was divided into four categories: Group 1 - 25% of people with lower per capita family income; Group 2 - 25% of people with per capita family income immediately higher than Group 1; Group 3 - 25% of people with per capita family income immediately higher than Group 2; Group 4 - 25% of people with higher per capita family income. In the per capita family income aspect, the impact of policies on all income strata was important, especially for Categories I (young people who only study) and II (young people who study and work and / or seek work). One must consider that there is still a huge challenge for full access to education, the permanence of young people in school and the completion of studies, especially for young men, young blacks and young people belonging to the group with a lower per capita family income (Group 1), where progress is made, but access inequalities and school permanence persist.

Exploring the physical education and school sport experiences of looked-after children and young people

Woodhouse, Chloe January 2017 (has links)
This qualitative study explores the Physical Education and School Sport (PESS) experiences of young people who are or who have been looked-after , i.e. who have been under the care of their local authority at some point. In recent years, there has been unprecedented awareness within policy and research of the disadvantageous trajectories that children and young people in care often face; particularly in relation to their education, health and wellbeing (Sempik et al., 2008). Despite the perceived capacity of sport/physical activity to contribute to young people s positive development (e.g. Holt, 2008; Bailey et al., 2009), few studies have considered the role of sport and physical activity in the lives of looked-after children and young people (LACYP). Indeed, to date, there remains a dearth of research on LACYP s experiences of sport and physical activity in educational contexts. This study, therefore, seeks to contribute to an increased understanding of this under- researched area. In keeping with more recent attempts to place person and circumstance at the heart rather than the periphery of sociological research (Holland et al., 2008) and in the interests of promoting the voices of marginalised and vulnerable young people (e.g. Heath et al., 2009; O Sullivan and MacPhail, 2010), this thesis provides new insights into the ways in which LACYP experience PESS, and how their broader life circumstances impact and shape those experiences. In so doing, the study adopts a conceptual framework in the form of a social ecological model that possesses five levels of influence at the individual, interpersonal, institutional, community and public policy level (see McLeroy et al., 1988). Considering both adult and youth voices (generated through semi-structured surveys and interviews with young people, PE teachers and local authority professionals), the empirical data presented makes an original contribution to knowledge by foregrounding the multiple social ecological influences that are at play within LACYP s experiences of PESS. For example, the study highlights how the social ecological context for each LACYP presents notable difficulties in relation to personal and physical environment, pre-care experience, health and wellbeing, and educational engagement. What the resultant findings depict is that LACYP s lives are highly complex and multi-dimensional and should not be viewed in isolation from wider life circumstance. To this end, the study seeks to challenge the wayin which PESS is currently offered to LACYP (and others with complex needs) and therefore has implications for research, policy and practice. This includes issues with regards to the different perspectives of adults and young people; the appropriate training for PE teachers; and the methodological challenges of doing research with LACYP.
