This essay aims to analyse the form of two radio documentary shows and compare them to, what I mean are a traditional, Swedish radio documentary form. The radio shows are Radiolab distributedby National Public Radio and WNYC, Övernaturligt (supernatural) produced by TredjeStatsmakten Media AB and P3 Dokumentär (P3 Documentary) distributed by Sveriges Radio. Alarge part of the essay is dedicated to develop a method to analyse form in specific radio shows. Mymethod consists of two parts:1. A defining of sounds in a spreadsheet that map out the different sound elements over time.2. An analysis of the radio documentaries using the spreadsheet, text-analytic tools, rhetoric toolsand an holistic view of how different stories connect.My essay shows how these two radio documentary shows use so called layers and the changing ofroles between the presenter and the reporter to replicate a live show in closeness to the audience andin turn, how this may affect the presentation of their journalistic content. I also show how theseradio shows use illustrative and side stories to build up the main story of the show.

Denna uppsats kommer behandla skräckfilmerna Hellraiser och Huset som Gud glömde och hur dessa presenterar en viss världsbild. Filmerna är utvalda utifrån deras övernaturliga inslag. I uppsatsen knyts analyser av filmerna ihop med Mary Douglas Renhet och fara. Utifrån tre aspekter, andlighet, gott och ont och världsstruktur, analyseras filmernas innehåll. Denna analys visar på en stark religionskritik, men samtidigt visar de att det övernaturliga existerar. Filmerna ger också publiken en tydlig struktur på gott och ont. Filmernas funktion är också att skapa ordning och mening till omvärlden.

The first vampire film I ever saw was Interview with a vampire. “I haven’t been human for two hundred years”, opened up not only the film, but a whole new world I knew nothing about. The world, as it were, opened its doors to me again after I had seen the film adaption of Stephenie Meyers Twilight. I decided to write down a few thoughts, capture my frame of mind, and these paragraphs then turned into a text: “I tankarnas skal”.               When I did research for this essay I discovered that my text held certain similarities with the modern vampire novel. Because my story is so closely connected to Meyers Twilight, my character Jennie projects the story of human Bella and vampire Edward onto her own life; I have chosen to focus on Twilight and the Twilight-saga as primary sources of comparison with my own text. Jennies healthy philosophies, after seeing Twilight, soon turns into disturbing thoughts in a mind damaged by her unkind reality. Jennie starts hallucinating, seeing Edward everywhere, and this is the object of my investigation. Ever since the legend of the vampire was transformed in the literary world, vampires have acted as symbols for everything between Aids and terrorist threats. Therefore I examined my Edward to see what symbolic role he had in my story.               I chose three themes to further explore the connection between my text and Meyers Twilight-saga, thereby unveiling the warning-signs that Edward personify, on Jennie’s road to her death.

Syftet med min uppsats har varit att undersöka mitt författarskap, dess litterära språk och plats i den samtida litteraturen, genom att analysera min novell ”När hedningen kom till byn”. Undersökningen består av översikter över de genrer jag tycker min text passar inom: magisk realism, norrländsk litteratur och skräcklitteratur; undersökning av författares verk som har influerat mig och varit representativa för den genre de skriver inom; mina kurskamraters och handledares reaktioner och konstruktiva kritik på novellen. Resultaten av genreundersökningarna visar hur jag använt eller inte använt mig av respektive genres olika särdrag och markörer samt hur min text förhåller sig till dess samtida författare. I undersökningen av skrivprocessen framgick textens styrkor och svagheter. Mina slutsatser är att genrebestämningen av novellen är beroende av med vilken blick man väljer att läsa texten. Jag upptäckte också att jag delvis följer de traditionella skrivmönstren inom respektive genre samtidigt som jag har min egen särprägel och ton samt sätt att framställa en text. / The aim of my thesis is to examine my authorship by making an analysis of my short story ”När hedningen kom till byn”. The literary language and its placement in contemporary literature is what I focused on while examinating. My analysis consists of overviews of the genres in which I think my short story fits: magical realism, Swedish northern literature and horror literature. Analyses of other authors’ essays in these genres have been done, as they influence the story in different ways. Constructive criticisms from my fellow students and supervisors have improved the examination. The result of the investigation of the genres shows whether I have used their different characteristics and markers or not. It also presents where the text remains in relation to other contemporary authors. The analysis of the writing process reveals the strengths and weaknesses of the text. I reached the conclusion that the genre of my short story varies, depending on the perspective with which it is read. Another conclusion is that, although I have followed some of the traditional writing patterns in each genre I have my own distinctiveness when it comes to creating, writing and designing a text.

Studien undersöker berättandet om övertron och hur, ofta vardagliga, händelser tillskrivs det övernaturliga. Genom narrativanalys med framför allt Labovs modell och jämförelser tillfolktron söks förståelse för memoratens framställning och poänger. Uppsatsen söker svar på hur berättare av självupplevda händelser framställer en händelse som övernaturlig, hur berättaren försäkrar publiken om sin tolkning, samt vad det är som gör händelsen värd att berätta. För att närma sig detta så har ett skriftligt material samlats in där frågelistan Det oförklarliga (NM237) utgör det huvudsakliga materialet med viss komplettering från socialamedier. Undersökningen har visat på hur övertrosframställningar ofta är beroende på tidigare associationer och intressen, att det som tillskrivs det övernaturliga ofta är av en oförklarlig eller allvarsam karaktär samt att berättandet kan förstås både som en form av kommunikation och en bearbetning av skeenden som annars är obegripliga för berättaren.
