After a jaded K-pop star rebels against his controlling manager by announcing his solo career, his new handler takes him to a remote cabin to record his debut album. His dream skids to a halt when he realizes his handler is actually an obsessed, delusional fan who demands the pop star write his debut album about her — or else.

A method for representing the design space of ortho-planar mechanisms has been developed. The method is based on the Theorem of Equality of Orientation Set Measures (TEOSM) which allows mechanisms to be represented by points in an abstract space. The method is first developed for single loop planar folded mechanisms with revolute joints, and later extended to mechanisms with prismatic joints and to spherical folded mechanisms. Functions which assign a value to each point in design space can be used to describe classes of mechanisms and evaluate their utility for MEMS design. Additionally, this work introduces the use of spherical mechanisms in MEMS design. Spherical mechanisms have characteristics that may be useful in MEMS, including the capability of spatial positioning of a link and the ability to convert rotation about an axis perpendicular to the substrate to rotation about an axis parallel to the substrate. Spherical kinematics has been used to develop three novel mechanisms, the Micro Helico-Kinematic Platform (MHKP), the Spherical Bistable Mechanism (SBM), and the Three-degree-of-freedom Platform (3DOFP). Mathematical models of these devices have been developed and MEMS prototypes have been designed and fabricated.

Diese Arbeit beschäftigt sich mit der archivarischen und geisteswissenschaftlichen Erschließung der Horst Lippmann-Sammlung (des Konzertveranstalters Horst Lippmanns, der Sammlung der Lippmann+Rau Konzertagentur) im Lippmann+Rau-Musikarchiv in Eisenach. Diese Arbeit ist eine Mischform aus Auflistung, tieferer Erschließung und Werkstattbericht der Arbeit des Autoren als Musikarchivar im Lippmann+Rau-Musikarchiv seit April 2022. Die Horst Lippmann-Sammlung wird hier in ihrer Erschließung beschrieben, diese Workflows mit denen den Sächsischen Staatsarchiv verglichen und zum Schluss mit der Sammlung des Konzertveranstalters Fritz Rau auch biographisch verglichen. Hier zeigt sich, dass Lippmann durch seinen Charakter als nachdenklicher Kunstliebhaber aus einer vermögenden Familie den Anforderungen einer großen Konzertagentur nicht wirklich gewachsen war, weshalb er sich ab den 70er Jahren aus dem Konzertgeschäft zugunsten von Fritz Rau zurückzog und hier das Plattenlabel führen konnte, was durch seine sorgfältige Arbeitsweise beinahe den kompletten Grundstock der Horst Lippmann-Sammlung darstellt. Zum Schluss zeigt sich, dass einem Erklären einer Sammlung auch immer ein ganzheitliches Verstehen einer Sammlung folgen muss, um eine Sammlung nachhaltig erschließen zu können.:1. Quellenverzeichnis / This work deals with the archival and humanities development of the Horst Lippmann collection (of the concert promoter Horst Lippmann, the collection of the Lippmann+Rau concert agency) in the Lippmann+Rau music archive in Eisenach. This work is a hybrid of listing, in-depth development and workshop report of the author's work as a music archivist in the Lippmann+Rau Music Archive since April 2022. The Horst Lippmann Collection is described here in its current status of cataloguing, these workflows compared with those of the Saxon State Archives and finally compared biographically with the collection of the concert promoter Fritz Rau. This all shows that Lippmann, due to his character as a thoughtful art lover from a wealthy family, was not really up to the demands of a large concert agency, which is why he withdrew from the concert business in favor of Fritz Rau from the 70s onwards and was able to run the company's record label here, which he did in his meticulous way of working as it represents almost the entire core of the Horst Lippmann collection. Finally, it becomes clear that an explanation of a collection must always be followed by a holistic understanding of a collection in order to be able to catalogue a collection in the long term.:1. Zhongguofeng music 中国风流行曲 has had an impact on the Chinese pop music industry. Although the style of music uses familiar overtones that have been in wide usage within Western pop music, Zhongguofeng aims to emphasize more of a connection to a unified sense of Chinese culture, ethnicity, and identity. Specifically, I will argue that “Chineseness” is constructed through lyrics, which contain cultural references to the imperial era of China, and accompanying music videos, which provide visual imagery that further draws the viewer into an idealized “China”. In addition, the song’s instrumentals blend Western pop stylings with traditional Chinese instruments and vocal techniques. In this thesis I will use semiotics, or the study of signs and their meanings, to illustrate the listener’s perception of “China” in modern pop music. I will first introduce expressions of “Chineseness” in previous genres of Chinese pop music and then examine well-known Zhongguofeng songs. My goal is to question the nature of “Chineseness” itself and explore the process of “semantic snowballing”, in which terms change over time, depending on the individual performer and/or historical circumstances. I will analyze three different songs by artists from different regions, all released between 2006 and 2007 at the height of Zhongguofeng’s popularity : S.H.E.’s “Chinese Language” 中国话, Vincy Chan’s “Daiyu Laughs” 黛玉笑了, and Wang Lee Hom’s “Mistake in the Flower Fields” 花田错.

By focusing on character, humor, and loose narrative, I create a world full of quirky, pitiful creatures that blur the lines between illustration and "Fine Art". Inspired by golden age cartoons, Pop-Surrealism, and late 50's commercial art, I make work that speaks of the awkwardness of human emotion while keeping a "tongue in cheek" attitude about everyday life. This work is expressed through illustration, animation, sculpture, and a lot of sarcasm.

This thesis aims to contribute to the field of interaction design practice by exploring how posters might offer playful interaction through augmented reality (AR). The project uses an experimental design process involving prototyping, user testing, and analysis to investigate playful interaction together with pop art posters and AR as a technology. This project respects posters as an artistic medium in traditional static form but also further explores the notion of the poster. The aim of this project is to explore how to offer playful interactions with pop art posters through AR to offer a new innovative, engaging, and immersive experience for users in public spaces. The results highlight the importance of appropriate context to engage users through playful interactions and exploring this new virtual space using AR, which contributes to playful interaction through depth, movement, exploration, and unexpected outcomes. To conclude, this thesis project generates a foundation of knowledge for the field of interaction design practice about how posters can offer playful interactions with AR that future designers can act on.

Perverted in Neon is collection of short fictions engaged with various facets of modern popular culture. In its stories, a washed-up rocker enlists the aid of pigeons to deliver messages to his estranged wife; a writer obsessed with finding out what “really” happened to Andy Kaufman is pushed into the fringes of his own life; a kid on restriction discovers a secret level to a video game that threatens to change the nature of his reality; a woman on Airbnb advertises her home—and her life—to potential house renters. The characters throughout this collection tread among the desperate and downtrodden, often seeing some faint impression of hope in the distance, something worth continuing to fight for. Perverted in Neon challenges traditional distinctions of literary genres, often incorporating elements of non-fictional pop culture into fictional worlds, and vice-versa. The stories throughout aim to interrogate some notion of emotional maturity, or lack thereof—characters who think they understand the world, but quickly realize that they understand only their most immediate desires. / MFA

Denna studie syftar till att undersöka skapandet av popmusik (i en DAW) som är både lättillgänglig och innehåller oväntade inslag. Genom att analysera låtar av Susanne Sundfør och AURORA, samt genom att ta del av intervjuer med artisterna, undersöker jag olika konstnärliga val som kan göras i den musikaliska skapandeprocessen. Genom att använda egna upplevelser som grund för analysen, undersöker jag hur dessa val kan bidra till att skapa musik som är både lättillgänglig och konstnärligt meningsfull. Litteratur som behandlar ämnen som genreöverskridande musik och harmonik användes för att stödja analyserna.  Studien resulterade i fyra låtar som jag skrev och producerade, vilka representerar ett steg mot att förstå vad som krävs för att skapa lättillgänglig popmusik med oväntade inslag. Resultaten av studien inkluderar också en fördjupad förståelse av de konstnärliga valens musikaliska betydelse inom låtskrivande och musikproduktion. Resultatet ger insikt i möjligheterna att skapa popmusik som är både lättillgänglig och konstnärligt meningsfull. / The present study aims to investigate the characteristics of easily accessible pop music that also contains unexpected elements. To this end, songs by Susanne Sundfør and AURORA were analysed, and interviews with the artists were thoroughly examined. The analysis was based on a review of relevant literature, which covered topics such as genre-crossing music and music theory. The study explored the various artistic choices that can be made in the production process and considered their musical significance. The research approach was reflective and focused on the author's subjective experience of music. The analyses aimed to identify the specific musical elements that appealed to the author and consider their role in creating easily accessible pop music with unexpected elements.  The results of the study include four original songs written and produced by the author, which represent a step towards understanding the requirements for creating the desired music. The research also resulted in a deeper understanding of the musical significance of artistic choices in pop music production. The findings provide insight into the possibilities for creating pop music that is both accessible and artistically meaningful.

Världen står inför en rad klimatförändringar, en befolkningsökning och en ökad urbanisering. För att kunnabehärska dessa utmaningar ställs det stora krav på samhällsplaneringen. Ett sätt för samhällsplaneringen attbidra till att fler människor kan minimera sitt ekologiska fotavtryck är att implementera ekologiskt hållbaraavfallsstrategier. Syftet med undersökningen är att ta reda på att hur samhällsplaneringen kan bidra till att skapaekologiskt hållbara avfallsstrategier. Med hjälp av Norra Djurgårdsstaden som fallstudie har intervjuer ochenkäter använts som metod för att skapa en större förståelse och insikt i det praktiska erfarenheterna avavfallsstrategierna i stadsdelen. Resultatet från empirin visar att det finns många aspekter som är bra medavfallshanteringen i Norra Djurgårdsstaden. Vidare finns det en del brister som skulle kunna undersökasnoggrannare. Slutsatserna visar på att det finns flera sätt för invånarna att tillgodose information kringavfallsstrategierna, däremot visar empirin att all denna information inte riktigt når ut till invånarna i NorraDjurgårdsstaden. En strategi som utifrån empirin visar på en god kännedom är Pop-up återbruket. Till sist kansamhällsplaneringen med fördel dra nytta av det praktiska erfarenheterna från empirin i samband med planeringen för ekologiskt hållbara städer.
