Sistemática e taxonomia de Rudgea Salisb. (Palicoureeae, Rubiaceae) / Systematics and taxonomy of Rudgea Salisb. (Palicoureeae, Rubiaceae)

Bruniera, Carla Poleselli 17 April 2015 (has links)
The use of molecular data has lead to a profound revision in the intra-familiar classification, mainly at generic level. It has become clear that the relationships between some of the largest genera of Neotropical Rubiaceae (e.g. Psychotria, Palicourea and Rudgea) had to be investigated. The neotropical genus Rudgea encompasses c. 130 species distributed from Mexico to northeastern Argentina with two main centers of diversity, one in the western portion of South America and another in southeastern Brazil. The species are characterized by the entire to fimbriate stipules, with glandular appendages, presence of domatia in the leaves, terminal inflorescence, corniculate corolla-lobes and pyrenes deeply furrowed adaxially. Previous Rubiaceae phylogenies have included a limited sample of Rudgea species. Our molecular analyses have shown Rudgea as a monophyletic genus with the exclusion of R. woronovii, a species more closely related to Palicourea sensu lato. On the other hand, R. stipulacea appears as sister to all other Rudgea, this last group strongly supported and formed by the species of \"Rudgea sensu stricto\". Taxonomic changes will be necessary to accommodate R. stipulacea and an infrageneric classification of Rudgea will be proposed, with molecular and morphological support. Besides the phylogenetic analyses, it was also conducted a taxonomic study for the Brazilian species of Rudgea, with 64 species accepted species and 26 new synonyms proposed. Comprehensive nomenclatural information is supplied and 36 lectotypes are designated. Identification key for the species and subspecies (where appropriate) are provided and information on geographical distribution, habitat, phenology, taxonomic notes, examined material and illustrations are also provided. This is the first comprehensive treatment of Rudgea for Brazil since Mueller Argoviensis published the Flora Brasiliensis monograph in 1881. As part of the taxonomic studies with Rudgea, the manuscript comprising the descriptions of two new species from Bahia (Brazil) and the manuscript with new combinations in Rudgea and Palicourea sensu lato were also included in this thesis

Contribution à la réduction des pertes d'informations dans l'industrie du bois : utilisation de la Résonance Quadrupolaire Nucléaire pour l'identification de marqueurs chimiques et de la virtualisation du processus de production pour la détermination de nomenclatures divergentes / Contribution to the information loss reduction in the wood industry

Jover, Jérémy 13 December 2013 (has links)
In the Wood industry, in which the problem is present, has no solution to conserve information all along the wood life cycle. This thesis goal is to validate the use of two new paradigms allowing improving the information conservation: the communicating material and the virtual manufacturing. With the first one, the wood material is intrinsically marked with chemical product which can be identify with the Nuclear Quadrupole Resonance and allow conserving the material origin. With the second one, it is possible to anticipate sawmill production by foresee the final product characteristics

Jeanbourquin, Pascal 25 June 1986 (has links) (PDF)

Studier över önamnen i Luleå skärgård / Studies of the names of the islands in the archipelago of Luleå

Lindblom, Else Britt January 1988 (has links)
The aim of this thesis is to present and examine the names of the islands in the archipelago of Luleå innorthern Sweden. The basis for the studies is a collection of names, which contains written forms excerpted fromsources from the 14th to the 20th century and local pronunciations of old as well as modern names. The names ofthe islands in the collection have been studied from three aspects. The first study (chapter 2) deals with the structure of the names and especially that of names of islands in doublecompound. The lack of s in names like Storhäll-gründet, where dialects in the south of S weden and StandardSwedish would have Storhälls gründet, is the starting point of the investigation. (Some double compounds have sin the compounding link like Bullerskärs-grundet. They are also discussed.)The hypothesis advanced is that the dialectal distribution of the accent in the names in northern Sweden makes itpossible to show where the link in the double compound is, so the 5, which in Standard Swedish and in thedialects in the south of Sweden is needed to mark the semantic limit between the parts of the compound, is notneeded in the dialects of northern Sweden. The stress in double compounds of th e type AB-C (see above) is on the last element of the name or word: -——. Names in double compound of the type A-BC like Lill-Kvarnören have a different type of accent: — — 1with the stress on the first element of the name or word. The two different main accents in double compounds ofthe type AB-C and A-BC: J— — and — —1 have the status of markers showing where the compounding link inthe compound is, so the s is not needed in the compounds of the type AB-C in the dialects of northern Sweden. The study includes names of isl ands containing double compounds in the whole of Norrbotten and appellativedouble compounds from a collection of words from a village in Nederluleå.The second study (chapter 3) deals with the relationship between the names and the land uplift. The BothnianBay is an area of rapid land uplift. The land uplift has its highest estimated values, 0,9 meters in 100 years, on thecoast north of Skellefteå up to Luleå. Many names of islands have disappeared because the islands have beenuplifted, especially in what used to be large bays, now large shallow lakes like Persöfjärden. New water-surroundedareas have on the other hand been named like Sandgrönnorna, described from old maps from 1790 and fromphotographs from 1946.Chapter 3 consists of three sections, in which separate studies of names in relation to the land uplift are presented. The first section deals with the names ending in -gründet, -grunden. Originally names of under-water localities, they are now names of small islands and gründet has changed its denotation to 'small island' in the area. The second section in chapter 3 presents a method for the dating of names of island in uplifted areas. Many largeislands, now uplifted, still have the names they had as water-surrounded islands. By following the equidistancecurves around the locality it is possible to find out at what equidistance it was surrounded by water. Before thattime it must have been named as an island. That is terminus ante quem, TAO, for the name. The third sectiondeals with the names of vattung, which can be dated from the time of th eir rise above the sea level. A vattung, 5meters high, can thus be about 500 years old, terminus post quem, TPQ, about 1450. The studies presentedabove show that some names can be dated to the Viking Age.The third study (chapter 4) deals with the names of large islands and the colonization. The colonization period ofthe northern part of Sweden is reflected in many names of large islands containing personal names like Hertsönand Germandön. No archipelago in Scandinavia shows such an amount of names of islands containing personalnames. Most personal names are Nordic and can be compared to those in the names ending in -mark in Västerbottenand the south of Norrbotten. - Some of t he names of islands containing personal names have also beendated in chapter 3. They are among the oldest names in Nederluleå.In chapter 5 the names in the studies are put in relation to the historical and archaeological records in Norrbottenand can thus contribute to throwing light upon the colonization period of northern Sweden. / digitalisering@umu

A time study of audiological practice patterns and the impact of reimbursement changes from third part payers [electronic resource] / by Melody A. Tucker.

Tucker, Melody A. January 2001 (has links)
Professional research project (Au.D.)--University of South Florida, 2001. / Title from PDF of title page. / Document formatted into pages; contains 29 pages. / Includes bibliographical references. / Text (Electronic thesis) in PDF format. / ABSTRACT: The primary objective of the project was to survey audiologists in clinical practice setting to determine the amount of time taken to perform various audiologic tests using Current Procedural Terminology, (CPT) codes to define these tests and if these CPT codes were felt to be adequate. Audiologists were also asked to respond regarding possible impact and reimbursement changes in their clinical practices related to managed care. Responses of audiologists were analyzed to determine: a) adequacy of CPT codes; b)average time to perform various audiologic tests; c) impact managed care onclinical practice; and d) changes in reimbursement as a result of managed care. / The survey was designed to determine the type of work setting, typical job duty, average monthly caseload and hours per day spent on patient care for each respondent. The survey with a cover letter explaining the purpose was mailed to 93 audiologists in clinical setting in the state of Florida. Five were returned undeliverable, and 39 of the remaining 88 were returned either completed or partially completed. The survey results revealed over 71% of the audiologists felt the current CPT codes were adequate. Time spent performing traditional audiologic tests, such as comprehensive audiometric evaluations and impedance testing, was fairly consistent. / Greater time variability occurred in tests used to determine vestibular function. Over three-quarters of the respondents believed managed care has had a negative impact on their clinical practices, while 11% believe they have been positively impacted. Approximately 82% of the audiologists have had reductions in reimbursement as a result of managed care, while 10% have seen no change and 5% have enjoyed slightly greater reimbursement. / System requirements: World Wide Web browser and PDF reader. / Mode of access: World Wide Web.

IziNambuzane: isiZulu names for insects

Cockburn, Jessica Jane, Khumalo-Seegelken, B, Villet, Martin Herrer January 2014 (has links)
We provide a tool for communicating about insects in isiZulu to facilitate research and knowledge sharing in the fields of indigenous knowledge, cultural entomology, environmental education and community extensioninvolving isiZulu speakers. A total of 213 different names for 64 insect specimens were encountered among a sample of 67 respondents in 11 communities distributed across the province of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. This list includes 93 names that can be considered core isiZulu vocabulary and which are widely used to identify insects that are agriculturally, medically, domestically, culturally or ecologically common or significant. Substantial variation was found regarding the names for particular insects, especially between regions, suggesting dialectal differences between isiZulu speakers. Grammatical and social variation in names was also recorded. This study highlights interdisciplinary teamwork in the field of indigenous knowledge research and the influences affecting the standardisation of South African languages for technical and scientific work.

Estudos taxonômicos filogenéticos e biossistemáticos em orquídeas terrestres (orchidaceae:orchidoideae) brasileiras / Taxonomic, phylogenetic and biosystematics studies in brazilian terrestrial orchids (Orchidaceae: Orchidoideae)

Buzzato, Cristiano Roberto January 2014 (has links)
Among the Brazilian terrestrial orchids, two groups are particularly important from a taxonomic, systematic and biogeographical aspects: orchids of subtribe Chloraeinae and Spiranthinae. The most recent phylogenetic analyses support the existence of four clades: Stenorrhynchos, Pelexia, Eurystyles+Lankesterella and Spiranthes clade, respectively. Thus, the aims of this study are: 1) to make a taxonomic and nomenclatural study of Brazilian orchids of Pelexia clade; 2) to document the floral and vegetative morphology, with emphasis on diagnostic features; 3) to make a taxonomic and nomenclatural study of the Brazilian species of Chloraeinae; 4) to assemble a more complete and representative molecular phylogeny of the Pelexia clade; 5) to establish if the genera of the Pelexia clade are monophyletic; 6) to construct a more complete and representative molecular phylogeny of the Chloraeinae, with the inclusion of Brazilian taxa; 7) to establish sets of diagnostic characters for the genera involved in this study and, if necessary, propose a new generic delimitation; and 8) to propose scenarios for the evolution of characters of ecological importance. The main results are: 1) 48 typifications, new synonymies and taxonomic notes for Spiranthinae and Goodyerinae species described by José Velloso and Rodrigues Barbosa; 2) new records of Pteroglossa and Lyroglossa to Rio Grande do Sul; 3) a nomenclatural correction of Spiranthes bicolor and 4) a taxonomic synopsis of Brazilian Chloraeinae; 5) molecular phylogenetic analyses to test the monophyly of the currently circumscribed genera in the Pelexia clade; 6) an update of the phylogenetic relationships of the Chloraeinae, including Pampean species of Bipinnula, and the type species of the genus, B. biplumata; 7) an overview on the reproductive biology of two Pachygenium species and additional data on Brachystele and Cyclopogon s.l.; and 8) a detailed study of the floral morphology, pollination biology and reproductive system of Chloraea membranacea (Chloraeinae).
