The present paper proposes a study of the issues concerning authorial voice representation in Clarice Lispector’s Um sopro de vida: pulsações, published posthumously in 1978. Diffused into a project commonly understood as autobiographic, the existence of the character named Autor, its unlike performance through the plot, and its performative mechanisms propose a complex narrative read in various levels: from the most elementary, in which literary creation is, once again, performed as an offstage; until more philosophical developments, in which language condition itself is investigated due to its creation possibility of an autonomous reality, ritualized as performance. Hence, problematic issues such as voice, inspiration and authorship are introduced.

Conquests of Egypt : making history in 'Abbāsid Egypt

Zychowicz-Coghill, Edward January 2017 (has links)
This dissertation is a study of the Futūḥ Miṣr (Conquest of Egypt) of Ibn 'Abd al-Ḥakam (d. 257/871), the earliest extant Arabic history of Egypt. Its primary aim is not to assess whether its information is 'authentic' - i.e. corresponding to an objective historical reality - though my findings are of relevance for those engaged in debates over authenticity. My goal instead is to explore the ideas about the past which are conveyed by this particular conglomeration of historical information and to propose methods through which we can expose and analyse different layers and types of authorial activity within a multi-vocal text like Futūḥ Miṣr. Ultimately, I use this analysis as the basis of a case study suggesting how we might more effectively historicise the generation and transmission of historical ideas in the early Islamic period. Part I of the thesis consists of three chapters which explore Futūḥ Miṣr as a whole, literary text which can be understood as an instantiation of the historical worldview of its composer. Part II of the thesis contains three chapters which each illuminate features of Ibn 'Abd al-Ḥakam's historical practice which are important prerequisites for the stratigraphic reading of Futūḥ Miṣr performed in Part III. Part III of the thesis uses the understanding of Ibn 'Abd al-Ḥakam's authorial techniques developed in Part II to expose the earlier packages of historical information which underpin Futūḥ Miṣr. These final three chapters demonstrate how Ibn 'Abd al-Ḥakam reinvested these pre-existing narratives with meaning at a micro-level - by interjecting commentary and accounts from other sources - and at a macro-level - by integrating them into the larger narrative structure of Futūḥ Miṣr. In sum, this thesis is the first systematic study of the sources, structure, and authorship of an early Arabic history, which both tests and expands our current understanding of the dynamics of early Islamic historical writing, and sheds light on numerous aspects of the changing uses of the past among the Muslim scholars of Umayyad and 'Abbāsid Egypt.

Tracking authorship and creativity in orchestral performance

Ponchione, Cayenna R. January 2016 (has links)
This thesis takes as its starting point the observation that the authorship of the creative product of orchestral performances has been, and continues to be, over-attributed to the conductor. This is reflected both in popular perceptions and in the scholarly attention given to the conductor's leadership role, as well as in orchestral practices which privilege the conductor's artistically superior position within the orchestra through rehearsal and performance rituals and in remuneration and marketing. Although existing research has challenged the perception that the authority of the conductor is absolute, none has offered alternative explanations for how best to attribute the authorship of orchestral performances. Through a three-phased mixed-methods empirical study including an online questionnaire, in-depth interviews, and a newly developed method of data collection utilising an online variation of video-stimulated recall to capture musician experiences in real-life rehearsal and performance settings, this research contributes to an understanding of the social psychology of orchestral performance by identifying what prompts musicians' decision-making regarding how and when to play their parts. The analysis of the data has resulted in the development of a theoretical Framework of Influence and Action in Orchestral Performance that offers a new way of conceptualising authorship in performance through a 'theory of influence'. It concludes with an exploration of the implications of this revised view of authorship for existing orchestral practices, group creativity research, and our understanding of how the relationships enacted in the micro-socialities of orchestral performance reflect larger social formations.

The present work, requested for the conclusion of the Professional Master's Course (UFBA / FACED), presents a study on the pedagogical practices developed with ICT in Primary Education II of the Municipal Education Network of Irecê, proposing an Intervention Project that intends to contribute with reflections / actions with the intention of propagating the use of ICT in a structuring perspective of pedagogical practices that are not limited to the transmission or availability of information, but which promote possibilities of pedagogical practices aimed at collaboration, creation and authorship. For this, it was necessary to conduct an exploratory research with a qualitative approach of phenomenological nature with the participation of teachers and pedagogical coordinators. In order to do this, we adopted postures of implication, sensitive listening and textual analysis of the speeches, produced through interviews, application of online questionnaire and analysis of the Political Pedagogical Project of each school. This research brought knowledge of reality and thus fostered constructive processes and possibilities of innovative pedagogical practices. The research showed some difficulties of the teachers regarding the quality of the connection, the infrastructure of the schools, the insufficient quantity and precarious conditions of use of the technological devices. On the other hand, the results showed that some teachers use more often the technological devices available at school and in some cases with an innovative bias. It is inferred from this information that those who use these possibilities believe that they can contribute with their pedagogical practices and when using promote innovation along with the students.

[en] FROM ARTISANSHIP TO INDUSTRY: THE GLOBALIZED TRANSLATION: AUTHORING, SOURCE TEXT, TRANSLATOR AND TARGET TEXT IN THE INFORMATION ERA / [pt] DE ARTESANATO A INDÚSTRIA: A TRADUÇÃO GLOBALIZADA: AUTORIA, TEXTO DE PARTIDA, TRADUTOR E TEXTO DE CHEGADA NA ERA DA INFORMAÇÃO

DANIEL ARGOLO ESTILL 11 December 2017 (has links)
[en] This study analyzes how, in the last forty years, translation has ceased to be an artisanal activity to become a billionaire industry and the voice of globalization. To develop this analysis, I discuss theoretical proposals from canonical authors for the establishment of a historiography and of a sociology of translation, and some aspects of systemic and functional lines of translation studies. Based on these ideas, I suggest some theoretical and methodological adaptations to update the concept of translation as a protagonist in the globalized world, focusing on specialized translation. After a brief analysis of the conceptual history of translation, taking in account recent changes in its practices, I conclude by showing how these transformations became more visible in the concepts of authoring, source text, translator and target text, considering the technology used in each one of these four elements as the materialization of these transformations, with special attention to translation-specific technologies.

Modeling the socio-semantic dynamics of scientific communities / Modélisation des dynamiques socio-sémantiques dans les communautés scientifiques

Omodei, Elisa 19 December 2014 (has links)
How are the social and semantic structures of a scientific communitydriving future research dynamics? In this thesis we combine naturallanguage processing techniques and network theory methods to analyzeavery large dataset of scientific publications in the field of computationallinguistics,i.e.the ACL Anthology. Ultimately, our goal is to understandthe role of collaborations among researchers in building and shaping thelandscape of scientific knowledge, and, symmetrically, to understand howthe configuration of this landscape influences individual trajectories ofresearchers and their interactions. We use natural language processingtools to extract the terms corresponding to scientific concepts from thetexts of the publications. Then we reconstruct a socio-semantic networkconnecting researchers and scientific concepts, and model the dynamicsof its evolution at different scales. To achieve this, we first build astatistical model, based on multivariate logistic regression, that quantifiesthe role that social and semantic features play in the evolution of thesocio-semantic network, namely in the emergence of new links. Then, wereconstruct the evolution of the field through different visualizations of theknowledge produced therein, and of the flow of researchers across thedifferent subfields of the domain. To summarize, we have shown throughour work that the combination of natural language processing techniqueswith complex network analysis makes it possible to investigate in a novelway the evolution of scientific fields.

[en] MANGUE: BIT, SCENE AND AUTORSHIP / [pt] MANGUE: BIT, CENA E AUTORIA

LUCAS DE FREITAS 07 December 2016 (has links)
[en] Manguebit, Mangue scene or, as is more commonly known, Manguebeat – a cultural movement which pop up in Recife in early 1990 – was addressed using two different dimensions of the impacts brought by the use of technological devices on the matter of authorship. First, this study reflects on the different horizons of expectations more or less framed by the media themselves (LP, K7, CD etc.), in the distinct moments in which the organizers of Manguebit utilized them in their musical experiments. From K7 – the amateurism and decentration of unitary figure of the author – to the practices of the music industry when hires some mangueboys, and the professional posture and filters imposed by marketing strategies – including negotiations after shock of different modus operandi. Then development of the Mangue scene was discussed from collective strategies and the use of precarious equipment and spaces as existence conditions, the way outs created by mangueboys to the formation of a cultural scene at a time of extreme hostility to the contemporary and strong socioeconomic tension – creation of alternative circuits with parties, bars, festivals and compilations, extensive investment in partnerships and self-promotion.

Arieta, André Borba January 2011 (has links)
The research intends to study the creative relation between the director and the actors of the group Falos e Stercus in the making of the spectacle, under the perspective of the performance and the enviromental theater, starting from a cinematographic documentary creation process, which will address the recriprocal influences between the cast and direction of the trupe, as relational and autonomous artistic expressions. For this, it will be structured in three narrative axes: the training of the actors during rehearsals, the academic context which influences the research, and moments of the personal life of the director. This methods of movie making, through the approach of cinema, documentay and video, will be used in the record and reflection about the procedures of creation of the cast and the direction of the group.
