UTILIZATION OF FIELD PROGRAMMABLE GATE ARRAYS AND DIGITAL SIGNAL PROCESSING MICROPROCESSORS IN AN ADVANCED PC TT&C SATCOM SYSTEM

Meyers, Tom 10 1900 (has links)
International Telemetering Conference Proceedings / October 25-28, 1999 / Riviera Hotel and Convention Center, Las Vegas, Nevada / L-3 Communications Telemetry & Instrumentation (L-3 T&I) has developed an advanced IBM PC-AT Telemetry, Tracking, and Commanding (TT&C) SATCOM system based on the utilization of Field Programmable Gate Array / Digital Signal Processing (FPGA/DSP) microprocessors. This system includes up-link, down-link, and range processing sections. Physically, the system consists of one IF Transceiver and two or more FPGA/DSP microprocessor boards called Advanced Processing Microprocessors (APMs). The form factor of these PWBs is compliant with full length, full height IBM PC PCI bus cards. This paper describes the features and functionality of an advanced Telemetry, Tracking, and Commanding Processing System (TT&CPS) based on the implementation of FPGA and DSP microprocessors. The high-level functional attributes of the TT&CPS are depicted in Figure 1. There are four main functional blocks: the IF Transceiver, the Down-Link Processing Section, the Up-Link Processing Section, and the Range Processor. The analog/IF circuitry in the IF Transceiver card interfaces between the 68–72 MHz (70 MHz, nominal) IF I/O signals and the Up-Link and Down-Link Processing Section's DSP equipment. The down-link portion of the IF Transceiver card has two user-selected input ports. From the selected input, the signal is processed through selectable bandwidth limiting, gain control, Doppler correction (optional), quadrature down-conversion to zero hertz (baseband), selectable baseband filtering, and precision Analog-to-Digital (A/D) conversion. The up-link portion of the IF Transceiver card takes I/Q digital data from the APM performing the up-link processing functions. This baseband I/Q digital data is Digital-to-Analog (D/A) converted, filtered, quadrature up-converted to 68–72 MHz, up-link Doppler corrected (optional), output level detected and level controlled, and sent to a two-position output selector switch. The down-link portion of the TT&CPS provides main carrier linear PM or BPSK or QPSK demodulation and can also, in composite linear PM demodulation mode, receive and demodulate FSK and/or BPSK subcarriers and ranging signals. The demodulators use symbol timing loops and bit decision circuits (matched filters) to perform the bit synchronization function. Several decoding algorithms, including differential, de-interleaving, Viterbi, and Reed-Solomon, are available for the down-link telemetry. Command format checking and CRC status is also available on FSK-demodulated data. Direct carrier BPSK/QPSK demodulation has decoding and frame synchronization capabilities. Because of the modular construction of the firmware and the use of FPGAs and DSPs, the system can be loaded with only the functions in use, lowering initial setup time while increasing overall system capability. To support a particular function, the card is downloaded with an “image,” which programs the FPGAs and DSPs at initialization. The user can change configurations by simply downloading a new set of instructions to the FPGA/DSP on the fly to keep the ground station running with minimal downtime. The flexibility of the design minimizes spare board costs, while achieving greater programmability at the end-user location.

Realize Configurable and Interoperable TT&C with Commercial Components

Patel, Kirti 10 1900 (has links)
International Telemetering Conference Proceedings / October 28-31, 1996 / Town and Country Hotel and Convention Center, San Diego, California / With explosive growth in the satellite communication market. there is an increasing need for the satellite network service providers to support many satellites with a common Telemetry, Tracking, and Commanding (TT&C) assets. The open bus technology, and Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) Hardware and Software components, provides an opportunity to build a common IF and baseband systems that will support many satellites with different frequencies and protocols. However, the high frequency front end components of the ground station such as antenna or HPA can not be common due to different gain and polarization requirements of the various communication bands and frequencies. The system architecture presented in this paper offers such system that is interoperable and reconfigurable in near real-time to support multiple frequency and multiple communication protocols.

This thesis aimed to examine the cultural predisposition of a group of medium and large industries located in Rio Grande do Sul to innovate through Design. Through the analysis of some essential theoretical constructs to the comprehension of the research problem, was first built a research protocol. Held, first, the identification of external factors of competitiveness of the sector to then build an instrument of data collection seeking to achieve the specific goals. Identifying the internal factors of individual and organizational learning, we sought to assess the cultural disposition of businesses to innovate having the assumption that innovation driven-design can be understood as a learning cycle. The textile production chain includes various links, and the industry of garments is closest to the demands of consumers. Since the 1990s, the garments industry has been suffering with the opening of new markets and has been under strong pressure to differentiate themselves in some degree by the methods of production or price, that exacerbates this pressure due to globalization. Examine the structure of these companies facing such a situation was essential to note the latent need of the creation of strategies and actions founded upon a methodology that ensures the achievement of competitive advantages solid front to the new requirements. This work is characterized as a Case Study using descriptive and exploratory research methods in terms of its objectives, and presents quantitative and qualitative approach.

Automated Reasoning Support for Invasive Interactive Parallelization

Moshir Moghaddam, Kianosh January 2012 (has links)
To parallelize a sequential source code, a parallelization strategy must be defined that transforms the sequential source code into an equivalent parallel version. Since parallelizing compilers can sometimes transform sequential loops and other well-structured codes into parallel ones automatically, we are interested in finding a solution to parallelize semi-automatically codes that compilers are not able to parallelize automatically, mostly because of weakness of classical data and control dependence analysis, in order to simplify the process of transforming the codes for programmers.Invasive Interactive Parallelization (IIP) hypothesizes that by using anintelligent system that guides the user through an interactive process one can boost parallelization in the above direction. The intelligent system's guidance relies on a classical code analysis and pre-defined parallelizing transformation sequences. To support its main hypothesis, IIP suggests to encode parallelizing transformation sequences in terms of IIP parallelization strategies that dictate default ways to parallelize various code patterns by using facts which have been obtained both from classical source code analysis and directly from the user.In this project, we investigate how automated reasoning can supportthe IIP method in order to parallelize a sequential code with an acceptable performance but faster than manual parallelization. We have looked at two special problem areas: Divide and conquer algorithms and loops in the source codes. Our focus is on parallelizing four sequential legacy C programs such as: Quick sort, Merge sort, Jacobi method and Matrix multipliation and summation for both OpenMP and MPI environment by developing an interactive parallelizing assistance tool that provides users with the assistanceneeded for parallelizing a sequential source code.

Estudo sobre a ocorrência de enterobactérias produtoras de ESBL isoladas de pacientes internados em unidades de pós-operatório de cirurgia cardíaca de um hospital da rede pública do Rio de Janeiro / Study on the occurrence of ESBL-producing enterobacteria isolated from post-surgery and cardiac surgery patients from a Rio de Janeiro public hospital

Márcia Regina Guimarães Vasques 23 June 2009 (has links)
Healthcare-associated infections are a major problem in hospital units as well as in units outside hospital, where procedures are performed. In Brazil, differently from other countries, a large proportion of these infections are caused by extended spectrum beta-lactamase (ESBL) producing Gram-negative microorganisms. These enzymes, which hydrolyse β-lactams, are considered of clinical importance worldwide. Their localization in genes that are located in móbile structures facilitate cross infection. This study was performed with bacterial isolates found in clinical specimens and faeces of patients hospitalized in a public hospital in the city of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. These patients were in two different cardiological intensive care units from January till December 2007. The goal of the study was the phenotypic and genotypic characterization of the bacterial isolates which were associated with colonization or infection. Phenotypic and genotypic tests were performed in Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (Rio de Janeiro State University) and included biochemical tests, susceptibility tests, a comfirmatory test for the expression of ESBL, and polymerase chain reaction (PCR) with specific primers for five gentes : blaTEM, blaSHV, CTX-M1, Toho1 and AmpC. The most frequently isolated bactéria were Escherichia coli (25%) and Klebsiella pneumoniae (30,56%), and the most prevalent genes were blaTEM (41,6%), AMPC (41,6%) blaSHV (33,3%), CTX-M1 (25%), and Toho1 (19,44%). In 25% of samples we identified enterobacteria that were not E. coli, K. pneumoniae oor Proteus spp, but with the ESBL phenotype and the expression of the same genes, suggesting these microbes needed investigating. The most sensitive substrate for expressing synergism in the double-disk diffusion test was ceftriaxone (80%). We also identified that 17% of ESBL positive isolates showed co-production of AmpC and 50% showed more than one gene tested by PCR. The presence of carbapenemase was studied in bacterial isolates with intermediate susceptibility to ertapenem, by a modified Hodge test. The findings in the present study characterize the co-production of AmpC and ESBL, and suggest the need for reviewing detection methods used and possibly using other methods for the detection of other resistance patterns in our Institution.

Řízení PR agentury / The management of a PR agency

KONOPKOVÁ, Adéla January 2009 (has links)
The primary objective of the thesis is to analyze the operation and management of the AC&C Public Relations agency and suggest changes possibly leading to higher efficiency. Within the thesis itself, I have mostly focused on the current organisational structure of the agency which I have selected to be the principal problem of its recent operation and source of potential future risks. The theoretical part based mainly on specialized publications supplemented by my own experience, explains the meaning of Public Relations as such and describes the principles of organization and management of small-sized companies including Czech PR agencies. In the second part, the current situation and ways of management at the AC&C Public Relations agency are analyzed and reviewed. The theoretical methods involve the use of SWOT analysis and qualitative reserch. The third part aims at suggesting specific changes possibly useful in making the current operation of the agency more efficient. Therein, the most specific points of management and work of a PR agency are explained. The final chapter deals with the influence of the contemporary financial recession on the operations of the agency and includes suggestions for coping with a period of the kind.

Možnosti identifikace botnetové robotické aktivitiy / On possible approaches to detecting robotic activity of botnets

Prajer, Richard January 2016 (has links)
This thesis explores possible approaches to detecting robotic activity of botnets on network. Initially, the detection based on full packet analysis in consideration of DNS, HTTP and IRC communication, is described. However, this detection is found inapplicable for technical and ethical reasons. Then it focuses on the analysis based on network flow metadata, compiling them to be processable in machine learning. It creates detection models using different machine learning methods, to compare them with each other. Bayes net method is found to be acceptable for detecting robotic activity of botnets. The Bayesian model is only able to identify the botnet that already executes the commands sent by its C&C server. "Sleeping" botnets are not reliably detectable by this model.

Exploring factors that decides on how a Business Intelligence tool is being received by its users

Klaesson, Mårten January 2020 (has links)
Self-Service Business Intelligence (SSBI) is a service where users can create reports andanalyze data on their own. It is an approach to decentralize competence and knowledge withina company. It has been proven to increase productivity and provide employees with morepossibilities to make smart data-driven decisions. I decided to do this project to learn moreabout SSBI and specifically explore what factors that contributes to the user experience ofworking with SSBI. With the help of a survey I was able to reach out to the employees at IfP&C Insurance.I asked how satisfied they were with the SSBI solution at the company, how theyexperienced loading times, how active they were and if SSBI brought value to their day to daywork among many other questions. The data from the survey was analyzed looking at trendsand correlation between answers to identify what parts employees were pleased with and theparts that needs more attention. This was done with the help of Decision Trees, correlationmatrices and extensive graph comparisons. The results managed to answer my scientificquestion rather well. It shows that most employees find that working with SSBI at If P&CInsurance is an enjoyable experience and they believe that it adds real value to their work. There is an interest in further education in Tableau, which is the SSBI software being used atIf P&C Insurance. A fact that shows that employees are eager to learn more, but also that theavailable education at the company has not reached out to all employees. There is also a majorissue with loading times when browsing reports. Users that experiences that loading times areslow or very slow are also overrepresented in the group that is not pleased with the software. The issue with slow loading times has two solutions that I recommend to the company: • Educate employees to create reports that require as low processing power as possibleto browse. This is something that a few employees asked for specifically. • Increase the capacity on their servers. As using Tableau and creating reports hasbecome more and more popular at the company, the servers have not been updated inthe same pace, creating long delays when browsing and working with reports. In general, I think If P&C Insurance has created a functioning environment for SSBI and ifthey address the few issues I have mentioned they will have a thriving Tableau communitywithin the company.
