Ana Miranda is a writer recognized of the Brazilian contemporary literature having been awarded important prizes by Brazilian critics. DFS70-Antikörper – Biomarker zum Ausschluss ANA-assoziierter rheumatischer Erkrankungen

Cornad, Karsten, Röber, Nadja, Rudolph, Sebastian, Mahler, Michael 18 June 2020 (has links)

Implementation of annual national assessment in the intermediate phase at King Cetshwayo district schools

Ntuli, Nombali Lucratia Rose January 2018 (has links)
A dissertation submitted to the Faculty of Education in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the Degree of Master Of Education in the Department of Curriculum and Instructional Studies at the University Of Zululand, 2018 / The purpose of this study was to understand the efficacy of the implementation of Annual National Assessment (ANA). In this study, the researcher chose King Cetshwayo District and Mthunzini circuit as a field of investigation. The investigation was conducted using a mixed method approach which was driven by both qualititave and quantitative approach. In this case, the Intermediate Phase schools were the main target to select a sample of 75 participants. All these randomly selected educators answered a questionnaire with closed and open-ended questions while five Heads of Departments (HoDs) and five educators were purposively selected to participate in the in-depth interview session. The main objectives of the investigation were to: (a) explore teachers’ views about the implementation of ANA in the Intermediate Phase; (b) find out teachers’ perspectives of on the use of ANA as diagnostic assessment tool; and (c) find out about the impact of ANA on learner performance in English First Additional Language. The findings revealed that the majority of educators complained about lack of training, administration including time in which ANA is written, exposure of underperforming schools and methods of teaching which encourage rote learning. Most educators were unhappy that their district officials were not supportive during the administration phase. Educators raised concerns that Grade 4 learners have difficulty in understanding the questions since it is their first year of using English as Language of Learning and Teaching. Some educators indicated that they have not been sent to ANA workshops yet they are expected to administer the assessment. Based on the findings, the researcher realised that the objectives of the implementation of ANA were not achieved in some schools due to the negative attitude displayed by educators towards ANA. The inconsistency of the test questions makes it difficult for the Department of Basic Education to ascertain whether or not there is any improvement in ANA results. The researcher recommends that in order for ANA to be successfully implemented, the school management teams and the subject advisors have to work closely with Intermediate Phase educators and provide necessary resources and support.

Laser Spectroscopy for Material Characterization: Chemical Analysis Using Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (Libs)

Ayyalasomayajula, Krishna Kanth 17 May 2014 (has links)
Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LIBS) is a powerful tool for performing chemical analysis measurements of materials, such as slurries, soils, plastics and powder samples. The LIBS technique has proven to be sensitive, selective and robust for rapid, in situ analysis. The focus of this dissertation is the optimization of laser spectroscopic sensing methodologies for material characterization. The applications of the LIBS technique to slurry samples is very challenging due to the water content (~80%). A new sample preparation method called “spin-on-glass” was adopted to reduce the water content in slurry samples and improve the LIBS signal. The feasibility of using the new sampling method with a LIBS system was tested by applying multivariate analysis to the LIBS spectral data. The calibration results demonstrated that the LIBS technique with the new sampling method could successfully predict the elemental concentrations of slurry samples qualitatively and quantitatively. The possibility of developing a LIBS-based sensor system for total carbon quantification in soil samples was studied. The soil samples were studied in pellet form and the calibration models were developed by using simple linear regression (SLR) and multiple linear regression (MLR) analysis. It was found that both SLR- and MLR-based calibrations successfully predicted the carbon concentration in an unknown sample with relative accuracy (RA) within 8%. The LIBS experimental setup was designed, developed and tested for the determination of elemental impurities in plastic calibration standards that are used in dual-energy computed tomography (CT) scanning for petrophysical applications. Univariate calibration (UC) and multiple linear regression (MLR) analysis were used to develop calibration models. From this study, it was concluded that MLR improved the calibration results and data derived from the LIBS analysis enhanced the predictive capabilities of dual-energy CT scanning in general. A comparative study was performed for quantification of strontium (Sr) in an aluminum (Al) batch with both the atomic and molecular LIBS emissions. The calibration models were developed using SLR analysis and the limits of detection (LOD) were obtained. The study confirmed that molecular LIBS could be used for quantification of Sr in a binary mixture.

A estética do labirinto: barroco e modernidade em Ana Hatherly / The aesthetics of the labyrinth: baroque and modernity in Ana Hartherly

Teixeira, Claudio Alexandre de Barros 05 June 2009 (has links)
The aesthetics of the labyrinth: baroque and modernity in Ana Hartherly aims to study the poetic creation of this Portuguese author pointing out its aesthetics choices in relation to the baroque and the mannerism, particularly the labyrinths (or visual texts) produced in the 17th century. Ana Hatherly, who took part in the Portuguese Experimental Poetry movement (PO-EX), in the 1960\'s, performed a creative rereading of this cultural heritage, and at the same time established a link with forms and procedures of the international vanguard (especially with the Concrete Poetry), pursuing the reinvention of the writing, merging resources of literature, music, painting and other forms of expression. Ana Hatherly\'s renewed writing demands another way of approaching, one that leads the reader into discoveries or constructions of meanings, in a reinvention of the act of reading. Ana Hatherly\'s creative strategy therefor is closely related with the concept of an open piece of work, formulated by Umberto Eco and Haroldo de Campos, and means a type of aesthetic structure that allows multiple interpretations, once a certain set of rules is established by the author (rendering, this way, a gamelike work). That is one of the key concepts to be discussed in this dissertation, where her works, such as Tisanas will be analyzed with additional theoretical support of works by Affonso Ávila, Gustav R. Hocke, and Johann Huizinga. Finally, we shall discuss the concepts of vanguard with theoretical support of Marjorie Perloff, Renato Poggioli and Richard Kostelanetz, aiming to point out how contemporary many of the PO-EX propositions are. Those are not bonded to a determined historical context, and even nowadays can be observed in experiences in the field of the electronic or digital poetry.

Anorektiskt beteende och Pro-ana : Sett ur ett sociologiskt perspektiv / Anorexic behavior and Pro-Ana : Seen from a sociological perspective

Shala, Sanije January 2013 (has links)
Following study is about the anorexic behavior and the pro-ana movement, which is a web-based subculture where the followers of this, stands for anorexia as an identity position and lifestyle, rather than a disease. The purpose of this study was that, from a sociological perspective give possible interpretations of the anorexic behavior, and interpret why some anorexics choose to be a part of and identify oneself with the pro-ana movement. The reason has been to conduce more knowledge and understanding of the topics, but also to contribute with a deeper perspective and sociological approach to the former research that is already available. To conduct the study, qualitative research has been used, and the chosen methodology was document analysis/text analysis. The collected empirical data consisted material from two pro-ana forums, four blogs and six twitter accounts, where all the users of those claimed to be supporters of the pro-ana. The empirical data has been interpreted by Howard S. Becker's theory of deviance, Erving Goffman's theory of stigma and his dramaturgical theory. In addition, previous research has also been used as a support. The study has shown that anorexics by being stigmatized for their deviant behavior may take different consequences for their actions. These are in the form of social isolation, concealment of behavior and resistance from the rest of society etcetera. Furthermore, the study also revealed that the major reason that anorectics choose to be a part of the pro-ana is because they are in need of interaction with likeminded people. Through membership the anorectics may get the status and attention they need, and at the same time take part of a community where they are not questioned, but rather perceived as fully normal.

TROPICAL SOL DA LIBERDADE: ENTRE O MAR E AS AMENDOEIRAS, RESGATES E RUPTURAS ATRAVÉS DA NARRATIVA / TROPICAL SOL DA LIBERDADE: BETWEEN THE SEA AND ALMOND TREES, RESCUES AND RUPTURES THROUGH NARRATIVE

Vargas, Andrea Quilian de 04 March 2013 (has links)
As a living manifestation following the stream of history, literature has included, mainly after the sixties, attempts of recognition of social groups neglected so far. Constituted by the geographic, ethnic, and social (negroes, homossexuals, women ) periphery, this large human mass used literature as a stage for narrating their histories. In that disruptive context, novels were used to disclose the dissonant and disturbed reality of the XX century. Tropical sol da liberdade is the novel by Ana Maria Machado that aligns itself to that praxis of inquiring and unveiling historical truths . It shows us, from the female, deportee, and ex-centric point of view, facts from the 1964 Brazilian military dictatorship. Based on studies by the Canadian researcher Linda Hutcheon we intend to figure the place and the strength of those peripheral characters in the narrative developed by Machado. Aware that reality is continuously defying its representation, we have investigated into the vast universe embracing voluntary and involuntary departures, in the search for a literary representation of exile with emphasis on otherness issues. Given the theme's complexity, some background from psychology, sociology, cultural studies, was used for helping us to understand how Ana Maria Machado, as an excluded Latin American woman, has turned her experience into a discursive practice. While encompassing elements of a chaotic context, the analyzed novel does not evolve as a linear timeline following protagonist's consciousness time. It evolves otherwise, as time perception from a woman, tormented at same time, by the need to narrate things she saw and lived, and being bounded by the impossibility of doing that. Written in a delicate and exciting way, Tropical sol da liberdade doesn‟t speak about prison or torture. The novel narrates simple people's everyday life with their anguish and traumas. Through a metafictional narrative the traditional distance writer- reader is dissolved while we are kindly invited to participate in the creative act. That corroborates Umberto Eco's concept that a literary piece only completes with the participation of readers, in the same sense that victims of oppressive regimes reporting facts would only have therapeutic effect, as stated by Freud, when there is a concerned listener. From that starting point, we also investigate the importance of direct or indirect witnesses in reconstructing lives interrupted by dictatorships. What we've done through this study, can be considered a short walk through fictional woods, literary theories and spaces where the inexhaustible plurality resides. We have tried randomly to set an order by choosing thoughts, but never sticking on the illusory intention of exhausting reasons that incite us to keep investigating.

This sculpture condenses and opens new paths at the Brazilian art and their fictional representation of our memory. This artwork establishes more than a simple relationship between the parts. It enters the world as an intervention, which puts the viewer in the center of the perceptive action and allows multiple interpretations and experiences. This study aims enlarges questions and reflections with regard to dynamics of the perceptive act and the ability to formulate thoughts. It seeks to understand the complexity of Memória Roubada I, its domains and relationship to memory, history and cultural performances.
