Merging Task-Centered Social Work and Motivational Interviewing in Outpatient Medication Assisted Substance Abuse Treatment: Model Development for Social Work PracticeFassler, Andreas 01 January 2007 (has links)
To advance social work practice and decrease the research practice gap, this dissertation followed a model development paradigm consisting of several phases. Based on the task-centered model of social work practice and motivational interviewing, a new combined model was construed. The two underlying models were analyzed and synthesized, using technical eclecticism as the integrative approach. The resulting combined model was described by guidelines and manualized. To test the combined model in an applied setting, a study was designed in collaboration with social workers at a substance abuse counseling center. There, the combined model intervention was implemented in an outpatient medication assisted treatment program dispensing methadone and buprenorphine to a mainly African-American population. The agency program aimed at detoxification, but also provided methadone maintenance. It offered additional groups and acupuncture. Ten clients and four social work practitioners participated in the intervention study. The study used a mixed-method approach in data collection and analysis. Client practitioner verbal interaction was recorded using digital audio recording. The digital audio files were loaded directly into Atlas.ti software to be used for analysis. Qualitative data analysis with Atlas.ti was performed for two research tasks, a) assessing implementation fidelity of the manual based intervention and b) exploring model development aspects to improve model guidelines. Treatment fidelity was analyzed through deductive coding and frequency counts. Model development analysis was performed similar to a grounded theory model and used content analysis and constant comparison methodologies. Addiction Severity Index and Readiness Ruler, urine drug screens, problem change, and task accomplishment ratings were used as quantitative outcome measures to produce time series data in order to chart individual case progress in a single system design. After testing the intervention, a focus group with participating practitioners was conducted. Overall beneficence with clients improving and progressing successfully in the program was found. The integration of the underlying models was deemed successful. Their elements were found to be complementary and intricately linked. Crucial for successful implementation is that the program environment supports and accepts client choices. Model guidelines were reviewed and improved for further field testing.

Vyrovnávání se s komunistickou minulostí: proměny historické edukace v České republice po roce 1989 / Dealing with the Communist Past: Transformation of History Education in Czech Republic after 1989Najbert, Jaroslav January 2019 (has links)
The thesis aims to stimulate the debate on the need of improvement of the history education in the Czech Republic. It concentrates on describing the consequences of current historical situation, defined by the dealing with the communist past discourse, to history education. First, it analyses the very concept of dealing with the communist past, using available linguistic and statistic tools (e.g. Czech National Corpus and Mediasearch archive) and multidisciplinary literature. Then the three studies follow. The first case study explores the public debates on teaching of communist history that took place in the public since 1989 and included some criticism of the quality of history education. It also analyses conceptualizations of history education within the national curriculum since 1989. As a result, two dominant discursive types that have had an influence on the public debate about history education and teaching practice are defined. The second study explores the memory, pedagogical and discursive practices related to the application of oral history method for both remembrance and history education. It examines both positive but also problematic aspects of memory practice in education related to the stories of 1950's persecution. The third study discuses results of empirical research aimed on...

Hanteringsriglyne aan spelterapeute on adolessente by te staan wat slagoffers van okkultverwante geloofspraktyke was / Guidelines for play therapists to assist adolescents who had been victims of occult related religious practicesLategan, Louis 11 1900 (has links)
Satanism has a destructive effect on the development and wellbeing of the
adolescent and is known to influence all levels of his or her development.
Satanists use a variety of forms of entrapment and their focus on the individual’s
need of worldly goods, wealth and acceptance makes the adolescent easy prey.
During this study the lack of guidelines, for play therapists who became involved
in the handling of adolescents entrapped in Satanism, was identified as the
research problem. Bearing in mind the research problem, the aim of this study
had thus been formulated, namely to formulate guidelines according to which play
therapists will be enabled to address the problem of adolescents entrapped in
Satanism. To fulfill this aim, the researcher had gathered information by means of
qualitative processes, based on evidence. / Social Work / M. Diac. (Play Therapy)

Gemeenskapsopvoeding met betrekking tot die beveiliging van die kleuter teen seksuele mishandeling in 'n hoë risikogebiedVan den Heever, Claudi 30 November 2007 (has links)
Text in Afrikaans / The researchers' own interaction with the community caused her to recognize that the safety of pre-schoolers and toddlers in high risk areas are being jeopardised because sexual education is not applied soon enough. The aim of this research study was to determine the needs of role-players in the high risk area in terms of community education regarding the safety of pre-schoolers.
A quantitative approach was followed, which focussed on applied research and the exploratory and descriptive objectives of the research in order to facilitate a better understanding of the research phenomenon and to understand the specifics of the situation. The Randomised Cross-sectional Survey design was implemented. The analysed findings were presented graphically and interpreted in order to reach conclusions and present the recommendations of the study.
The general conclusion based upon the empirical findings of the study is that there is a great need for community education regarding the safety of pre-schoolers in the high-risk area, Danville. / Social Work / M. Diac. (Play Therapy)

It consists approximately of 5 000 volumes and its structure as well as its history makes it unique and elevates the Jawor library among the most interesting book collections of early modern Europe. Shortly after death of its founder, the library was bought by Otto's brother Johann Hartwig of Nostitz and moved to the newly built palace in Malá Strana in Prague where it laid the foundations of the new family library of the house of Nostitz. The library is placed in two rooms on the second floor till today. The thesis tries to introduce the personality of the founder of the Jawor library Otto Jr. of Nostitz, his tastes in the book purchase as well as the topical structure of his book collection and its future fates. Notwithstanding, the main point of the doctor thesis is to present the issues of the thorough provenance research of the oldest part of the library. The terminus ante quem for the year of edition of the books relevant for the provenance research marks out the death of Otto Jr. in the year 1665. The most recent and complete catalogue of the Nostitz library in the present use dates back to the 19th century and shows remarkable leaks and...
