Liten displaymodul

Jonsson, Michael January 2006 (has links)
<p>The purpose of this Master Thesis is to analyze what suitable hardware platforms there are on the market in order to build a low price control and information system for mobile applications, called small display module. The thesis will be underlying material for making a decision for further development. The result of the thesis consists mainly of a Windows CE kernel and a schematic for a CPU card, on which it would be suitable to build the display module. Another major part of the report is the introduction of different techniques that could be of interest when designing a processor based system. The processor architecture that was chosen is the x86. This is mainly due to CPU availability, but as well as the fact that existing software can be used on the display module without any significant modifications. Many interesting processors were sorted out because they hade a very high price on the development kits from the manufacturer and because the possible production volume can not manage this cost. The development kit makes the development easier and can be used for performance tests before prototypes are built.</p>

Förebyggande arbete är den viktigaste aspekten vid Hand-Arm Vibrationssyndrom : En systematisk litteraturstudie / Preventive Work - the most important aspect about Hans-Arm Vibration Syndrome : A systematic literature review

Kans, Teres, Johansson, Alida January 2008 (has links)

The Effect of Transmission Design on Force-Controlled Manipulator Performance

Townsend, William T. (William Thomas) 01 April 1988 (has links)
Previous research in force control has focused on the choice of appropriate servo implementation without corresponding regard to the choice of mechanical hardware. This report analyzes the effect of mechanical properties such as contact compliance, actuator-to-joint compliance, torque ripple, and highly nonlinear dry friction in the transmission mechanisms of a manipulator. A set of requisites for high performance then guides the development of mechanical-design and servo strategies for improved performance. A single-degree-of-freedom transmission testbed was constructed that confirms the predicted effect of Coulomb friction on robustness; design and construction of a cable-driven, four-degree-of- freedom, "whole-arm" manipulator illustrates the recommended design strategies.

Constructing understandings, renegotiating lives : women's experiences of arm morbidity after breast cancer

Schell, Kara 19 January 2009
This research explores womens experiences of arm morbidity after breast cancer. Biomedical knowledge about arm morbidity is limited and often unclear, and there has been even less focus on the health issue from a sociological perspective. While studies do exist about the experiences of arm morbidity, more investigation is required to realize its influence on the daily lives of breast cancer survivors. The purpose of my research is to convey constructed meanings of arm morbidity experiences to indicate the impact it has on womens everyday lives.<p> Qualitative data were collected via twelve in-depth, semi-structured interviews, as six participants were each interviewed twice. The interviews were focused on a broad range of themes in order to create a comprehensive understanding of the womens experiences of arm morbidity in their daily lives. Phenomenological and feminist approaches were both used to guide the research process and analyze the data, and a range of sociological ideas also informed the analysis, such as chronic illness, disability, gender roles, and embodiment.<p> The illness narratives produced two broad areas relevant to the womens experiences. The first major topic involves the meanings directly related to experiences of arm morbidity as a health issue, and is divided into four themes: 1) experiencing bodies with arm morbidity, 2) treatment, 3) information and knowledge, and 4) support. The second major topic involves understandings of arm morbidity as it affects the womens lives, in which three themes emerge: 1) changing abilities and adjusting roles, 2) identity and health, and 3) the influence of illness on approaches to life.<p> As existing research is sparse, the womens narratives present a new level of depth to understandings of arm morbidity experiences that does not exist in current literature. It is evident that more study about arm morbidity is necessary to construct important knowledge and benefit both biological and sociological understandings of this survivorship issue.

Power management in embedded ARM HW integrated with Embedded Linux

Svangård, Bo January 2009 (has links)
Today, more and more embedded hardware devices are reaching the market and consumers with a demand for smaller and better devices than yesterday. Increasing the performance of a device decreases the operating time since more power is consumed, still, decreasing the size of the device also decreases operating time as the battery size decreases. To allow the performance to increase and the size of the device to decrease, the designer must nd techniques allowing the hardware to consume less power during normal usage of a device than during the peak usage. In this thesis an implementation of an ARM based microprocessor system is presented and used for measuring and evaluation of the power consumption possibilities of the system.

The Design and Implementation of Vehicle Trajectory Management¡GSoftware/Hardware Co-design of a GPS/GSM Embeded System

Jiang, Jian-Hao 06 July 2005 (has links)
As the technology of SOC has greatly improved and man want much more powerful mobile device, the invention of multi-task device for vehicle are predictable. This theme contains integration of GPS and GSM/GPRS, using a ARM7-core embedded platform functioning wireless communication and global positioning, and also taking advantage of the open-source uClinux to accomplish the multi-task monitoring & burglarproof system for vehicle. Moreover, we design a server end for multi-user to monitor and to remote control vehicles online. Combined with e-map system sold in the market, we can monitor all mobile devices any time, anywhere. We also implement this as a value added service for cellular phone to make it more than a communication or multimedia device. Due to the high cell phone possession rate in Taiwan, we can easily construct a system to monitor and to control our lovely car by cell phone, without extra effort and additional hardware.

Hardware/Software Co-design and Implementation of MP3 Decoder on LEON2-based Platform

Teng, Ju-Kai 02 August 2005 (has links)
In this thesis, a MP3 audio decoder has been designed as System-on-a-Chip using hardware/software co-design techniques. The MP3 audio decoder was built on a fast prototyping platform as ARM Integrator. The hardware architecture was built on the LEON2 SoC architecture, which contained an open source SPARC-V8 architecture compatible processor and an AMBA bus. Because MP3 decoding process was very computation-intensive for software-only decoder to decode in real-time on the LEON2 architecture, an IMDCT and poly phase synthesis filter bank hardware combined core pre-designed as an AMBA compatible core from our lab was reused and integrated. Besides integrating the IP, the MP3 decoding process was changed to use integer calculations instead of floating-point ones. In order to fast prototype LEON2 successfully on ARM Integrator, some modification of the LEON2 SoC hardware architecture was also made for example adding FIFO, modifying the memory controller, etc.

Design of improvement for the Pinch Roll Unit of Reversing Finishing Mill of Stainless Hot Strip Rolling Mill Line

Huang, Chin-Hsiung 06 September 2006 (has links)
The entry and exit side pinch roll unit of the reversing finishing mill of stainless hot strip rolling mill line bears heat effects during producing. Its transfer convection must be sufficient to maintain its function. According to the original pinch roll unit during producing, there are four questions as follows: (1) Strip marks are formed from the roll surface. (2) High temperature of roll surface cause burning phenomenon and lower the hardness of roll surface. (3) Cracks are formed on the roll surface. (4) There is a deflection of horizontal pipe of rocker arm. The improved pinch roll is called new pinch roll. The original pinch roll is called old pinch roll. First, temperature gradients of each location for the old pinch roll and the new pinch roll are calculated, and the reasons of the abnormal high temperature of roll surface are clarified. Second, for the places of the old and new pinch rolls which are the easiest to crack, its stresses of x-y and y-z directions are analyzed. Influence factors of thermal stress crack are clarified. It is proved that the thermal stress effects of the new pinch roll are less than the old pinch roll. Third, the relations of thermal deflection and heat convection for the original horizontal pipe of rocker arm and for the improved horizontal pipe are analyzed. Furthermore, according to the internal structure of the old and new pinch rolls, the flow resistance of circulating water cooling system for each place is considered. Finally, roll grinder is developed and designed to improve the quality of roll surface.
