Careli, Gabriel Gonçalves 02 May 2013 (has links)
Made available in DSpace on 2016-04-29T13:17:47Z (GMT). No. of bitstreams: 1 Gabriel Goncalves Careli.pdf: 1700019 bytes, checksum: bc15e1876bc170ca0200f851e822389c (MD5) Previous issue date: 2013-05-02 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / The purpose of this research was to show, based on an article review if the interventions published on the JOBM had been effective. All the intervention articles published on the JOBM between 1977 and 2011 were reviewed and analyzed according to criteria of consistency and change magnitude. Consistency shows us if the change that accompanied the interventions happened systematically. Magnitude indicates the amount of change that accompanied each intervention. 118 articles were identified as having consistent interventions among the 154 included in the research from the 192 initial selection. Furthermore it was identified that in 78 articles the intervention was accompanied by growth (progression) on the variables and these obtained results between 1.29% and 7133.33% with great concentration of results between 100% and 1000% of growth. Also it was found that in 43 of the articles where decay (regression) in the variables has accompanied the intervention theses varied between 2.70% and 100% with no apparent concentration. The results indicate that most part of the published interventions were accompanied by consistent results with relevant magnitude / O propósito deste trabalho foi o de indicar, a partir de uma revisão de literatura se as intervenções publicadas no JOBM seriam efetivas.

Souza, Fernando Pomárico Barbosa 23 April 2014 (has links)
Made available in DSpace on 2016-04-29T13:17:53Z (GMT). No. of bitstreams: 1 Fernando Pomarico Barbosa Souza.pdf: 762477 bytes, checksum: ad6158b9a0d2b2b2e2c9b5b9a4e030d3 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2014-04-23 / The aim of this study was to review the publications of the third decade of the Journal of Behavior Management (JOBM). We intended to replicate the study for the same purpose and compare the results obtained with those of the replicated study. Our interest was in analyzing whether the results of review of the third decade would be consistent, while keeping in mind the criteria proposed for applied research in behavioral analysis. One publication was selected for each year reviewed of the periodical, which consisted of 14 articles of applied research, encompassing the period from 1999 to 2012. The method used was based on criteria/dimensions for applied experimental research in behavioral analysis which were transformed into questions that served to guide the search in the reports of research. Seven criteria/dimensions were evaluated: Applied, Behavioral, Analytic, Technological, Conceptual, Effective and General. The results obtained indicated that the JOBM presented three purposes in its research studies, productivity, customer service and work safety, with productivity being the most evident. Most of the studies sought interventions that would achieve rapid results in meeting the needs of organizations and applications in the natural environment. Results indicated that trained observers were the most common source of data. A little more than half the studies were concerned with the reliability of the dependent variable 57%, and unsatisfactory numbers were found to verify the independent variable. In relation to the experimental designs used, only 50% of the studies used the intrasubject design. A large majority of the studies reported training for those responsible for introduction of the independent variable. The researchers reported the procedures in detail, but replication of the studies requires a greater description of the organizational configuration where the studies are conducted. The inclusion of cost-benefit measures and social validity should be found in a greater number of studies, as well as measures of generality. These results indicate that no dimension was fully served. The applied, behavioral, analytical, technological, conceptual and effective dimensions partially met the criteria for each dimension. Comparison with the review of the third decade of which the present study is a replication, indicated that not all the criteria could be compared. Discrepancies in the Applied and Analytic dimensions were found the reported aims were found in different percentages, and the same is true for the experimental designs that were identified in the publicationsnizational Psychology.

Skol-Komet : Tre utvärderingar av ett program för beteendeorienterat ledarskap i klassrummet / Comet for teachers : Three studies of a classroom behavior management program

Karlberg, Martin January 2011 (has links)
Children who express externalizing behaviors in school are at greater risk of school failure and peer rejection. They are also at greater risk of developing antisocial behaviors, addiction to drugs, mental health problems and delinquency. Many teachers experience difficulties in working with pupils expressing externalizing behaviors. The aim of this thesis is to evaluate a classroom behavior management program called Comet. The main principle of Comet is to get the teacher to use effective strategies when the pupil who is targeted for intervention, and the rest of class, are behaving appropriately and inappropriately. Two versions of the program are evaluated in the thesis: Comet for teachers (Comet-T) and Comet for parents (Comet-P). Three studies are committed to evaluate Comet-T. In the first study Comet-T was compared to an active control group. 100 children (aged 8) were randomized into Comet-T or the control group. At post test and follow-up Comet-T received a better results in reducing externalizing problems, peer problems and teacher behavior management. An analysis of mediators showed that changes in teacher behaviors mediated externalizing behavior. In the second study, children (aged 6 -13) were randomized into two groups. 44 pupils received Comet-T and 42 pupils received a combined intervention consisting of Comet-T at school and Comet-P at home. At post test and follow-up the results show that the combination of Comet-T and Comet-P reduced the externalizing behaviors at home more than Comet-T (only). However, there were no significant differences between the two conditions regarding decrease in externalizing behaviors at school. In the third study Comet-T was compared to a brief version called Comet-TB. At post test Comet-TB had a greater reduction of externalizing behaviors compared to Comet-T. The studies conclude that teachers can use behavior management techniques to decrease externalizing behaviors in the classroom. Furthermore, teachers cannot rely on parent management programs in order to decrease externalizing problems in school. Instead, behavior problems in school need to be solved within school settings. Finally, even a brief program can be effective in order to decrease externalizing behaviors.

Program Evaluation of Behavior Management Training for Preschool Teachers: Teacher Outcomes

Young, Danielle Marie 01 December 2014 (has links)
Teachers are required to manage difficult behaviors within their classrooms with limited support and resources. Additionally, there is not a lot of research that has been completed looking at teacher attitudes or how children’s behavior impacts them personally. The current study looks at teacher outcomes based upon an evidence-based teacher training program. The teacher training was implemented at the Western Kentucky Head Start. Teachers’ job stress and self-efficacy were measured before the training, after the training, in the fall, and in the spring. In addition, standardized observations were completed, looking at classroom climate and management, in the fall and spring following the training. There were no significant differences among Pretest, Post-test, fall, or spring data for measured job stress or self-efficacy. Based upon observation results, Positive Climate significantly increased from fall to spring and Concept Development significantly decreased. Teacher’s attitudes and perspectives are extremely important as they provide the general climate of the classroom. Continued research should be completed to assess teacher outcomes and how these outcomes impact the overfull functioning of the classroom and success of students.

Association between preference of pediatric dentistry behavior management technique and parenting styles of parents of children aged 5 to 13 years cared for in a university health center of a private university in Lima, Peru / Asociación entre la preferencia de las técnicas de manejo de conducta en Odontopediatría y los estilos de crianza de padres de niños de 5 a 13 años atendidos en un Centro Universitario de Salud de una universidad privada de Lima, Perú

Cerrón Vásquez, Andrea Milagros, Meza Pucuhuayla, Adamary Iriana 15 April 2021 (has links)
Aim: To assess the association between preference of pediatric management techniques and parenting styles of parents of children aged 5-13 years cared for in a university health center in Lima, Peru. Materials and methods: The total of the respondents were 160 parents (77 % are female and 78 % belong to the age range of 30 years and over). Parenting styles are assessed using the self-paced questionnaire Parenting Style Dimension Questionnaire (PSDQ). The preference of the behavior management techniques was evaluated by means of an informative sheet of own elaboration where six techniques are included according to the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) of 2015. As father's age in intervals of years, sex of the father, educational level, number of children, sex of the children, age of the child in years and order of birth of the children. Chi Square and Fisher's Exact Test were analyzed for bivariate analysis and for the numerical variable used Kruskal Wallis. Results: There is no association between preference of behavior management technique and parenting styles. The prevalence of authoritative parenting style and a greater preference for communication techniques were determined, the latter regardless of the parenting style he manages at home. Conclusions: The preference of the behavior management technique is not associated with the parenting styles. However, the prevalence of communication techniques leads us to conclude that more studies should be carried out around it. / Tesis

A survey-feedback approach to the management of resistance to change

Goodwin, Shelagh 12 1900 (has links)
The aim of this study was to explore the role of feedback in managing resistance to organisational change. A general systems theoretical model of individual resistance to change was developed. It describes the origin, function and outcomes of individual resistance to planned organisational change. The role of feedback within this process was identified as a central one and feedback was therefore identified as an important point of leverage in managing resistance to change. The survey feedback approach was adopted in a retail organisation undergoing significant change. Staff were asked to respond to a survey on their experience of the change. Results were analysed and then fed back to them during group discussions. The process was repeated. It was concluded that the survey feedback approach significantly contributed to a reduction in resistance to change and that both survey feedback approach and the model of individual resistance to change merit further investigation. / Industrial Psychology / M.A. (Industrial Psychology)

The performance diagnostic tool called Performance Diagnostic Checklist - Human Services (PDC-HS), can be a useful tool in identifying functional variables, as well as indicating possible interventions to be implemented when there are performance problems. This research aimed to (1) Translate and adapt this tool that focuses on the verbal report of the leadership and the direct observations of the applicator, (2) create a team version to be answered by the employees, and (3) their respective applications in a business services company. The method consisted of seven steps, as follows: 1º) first check: students of the fifth year of Psychology, 2º) second check: Application in a pilot class of the company's management, 3º) third check: Appraisers experts in behavior analysis, 4º) fourth check: management team and direction of the company researched, 5º) defining and redefining the performance problem, 6º) fifth check: PDC-HS application of the target group and 7º) analysis. The results of the application of the tools in the different audiences are complementary. After the applications of PDC-HS in the researched company, 14 interventions were indicated in which seven are compatible actions between leadership and employees and seven are actions that would be appropriate based on the verbal report of the employees and that were not indicated on the basis of leadership’s verbal report. For future studies there is the need for customization of the tool, depending on the behavioral description of the performance problem, target audience and institution / Alguns métodos podem ser utilizados para a identificação de variáveis que mantêm ou limitam classes de comportamentos.
