Knotová Vaicová, Barbora January 2021 (has links)
Master thesis focuses on the life story of Josef Rabas, the multiple world champion of the International six days enduro competition. The emphasis is placed not only on the chronological description of the person's life but also on the explanation and understanding of contextual impacts of the period in which he lived. Another followed line is the explanation of the chosen career path where we search for possible contradiction to family's tradition. Besides being the motorcycle racer, Josef is a grandson of the academic painter and renowned artist Václav Rabas and a son of Jan Rabas, a lawyer and one of the signatories of the "Dva tisíce slov" document. Therefore, we also emphasized the family's socio-political context.

Pojem tradice v kontextu teorie reflexivní modernizace / The Concept of Tradition in the Context of the Theory of Reflexive Modernization

Kondrátová, Lucie January 2013 (has links)
Diploma thesis "The Concept of Tradition in the Context of the Theory of Reflexive Modernization" deals with the phenomenon of the tradition and its influence on the construction of the social order and the construction of individual biographies in the modern era. The thesis rests on the theory of reflexive modernization which is well- known in sociological theory thanks to Ulrich Beck and Anthony Giddens. The present reinterpretations of their papers quite often lead to the incorrect explanation of the current reality. Then, the reality is claimed to be detraditionalized. Using the concept of relativization I reject considering the actual state as the state without tradition. The aim of the concept of relativization, which is supported by the principle of sociological imagination, is to dispute this radical statement. The postulate of relativization is demonstrated on the example of the traditional social forms, such as nuclear family. In a wider perspective the aim of the thesis is to declare the continuing tendencies in social sciences to emphasize only the selected aspects of social reality.

It is a microsociological introspection of the life of the prisoners that lived in the ghetto. It aims to define social factors that influenced the lives of people that were stigmatized, fought for their lives and lived in border-line situations. The research part of the study uses biographical method. It uses 10 recorded testimonials of survivors - former Terezin prisoners. The research was carried out by means of partly structured interviews. The questions dealt with internal and external factors that created the daily reality of this forced community. The aim was to map their subjective perception of life conditions, social ties, both negative and positive factors and further personal utterances of the narrators. The testimonies serve for better and deeper understanding of the Terezin reality. The factors that affected the community in a negative way included fear of the unknown, fear of loosing close friends and relatives, very bad life conditions that strongly affected the negative mind-set of people and loss of moral values. In contrast, the positive factors included culture and sports that were welcomed by the prisoners as they allowed them to shift aside gloomy thoughts....
