Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado do Rio de Janeiro / A pesquisa em questão aborda questões referentes à prática da Capoeira e seus praticantes, a partir dos conceitos de Cultura, Memória, Oralidade e Identidade, e de ações de Políticas Públicas, Políticas Culturais e Salvaguarda. Foi objetivo desse estudo, propor uma discussão sobre a Capoeira, a fim de compreender o contexto sociocultural que a possibilitou se inserir na sociedade brasileira, e compreender como o Estado tem se articulado para atender as demandas de Políticas Públicas para a Capoeira. Observamos que a partir da constituição de 1988 o conceito de Cultura e Bem Cultural no Brasil tem inaugurada uma nova fase. Somente a partir de ações do Ministério da Cultura no início do Séc. XXI, que a Capoeira passará a ser reconhecida como uma manifestação digna de apoio e fomentos por parte do Governo Federal. Para tanto, Programas de fomento são criados e planos de salvaguarda e preservação são instituídos. Tudo com o objetivo de manter, difundir e preservar as tradições, as memórias e a ancestralidade imbuída nessa manifestação que já alcança mais ou menos cento e cinquenta países. / The research question addresses issues relating to the practice of Capoeira and its practitioners, from the concepts Memory, Culture, and Identity Orality, and shares of Public Policy, Cultural Policy and Safety. Objective of this study was to propose a discussion about Capoeira in order to understand the cultural context that is allowed to enter in Brazilian society, and understand how the State has articulated to meet the demands of Public Policies for Capoeira. We note that from the constitution of 1988 the concept of Culture and Cultural Well in Brazil has inaugurated a new phase. Only actions from the Ministry of Culture at the beginning of XXI century, that Capoeira will be recognized as a manifestation worthy of support and encouragements on the part of the Federal Government. Therefore, programs are created and promotions of safeguarding and preservation plans are instituted. All with the goal to maintain, disseminate and preserve the traditions, ancestry and memories permeated demonstrators already reaches more or less one hundred and fifty countries.

A pesquisa que deu origem a esta dissertação investigou as maneiras pelas quais as componentes do Bloco Afro Ilú Obá De Min: Educação, Cultura e Arte, operacionalizam e articulam os marcadores sociais da diferença raça, gênero e sexualidade no sentido de entender como, a partir desta articulação, o grupo construiu um diálogo e agenciou políticas culturais e os discursos sobre cultura e identidade negra na cidade de São Paulo. Os discursos acerca dos temas em tela são entendidos aqui como categorias política. Neste estudo percorremos quatro pontos fundamentais: a história do carnaval no Brasil o lugar ocupado pelo Ilú Obá no carnaval paulistano; os processos que deram origem ao bloco, sua composição artística e o perfil das integrantes; as dinâmicas das relações de raça, gênero e sexualidade no interior do bloco; o trânsito entre o Bloco Afro Ilú Obá De Min e o seu Ponto de Cultura Ilú Oná: Caminhos do Tambor. / The research that led to this dissertation investigated the ways in which the components of the Bloco Afro Ilú Obá De Min: Educação, Cultura e Arte articulate the social markers of difference race, gender and sexuality in order to understand how, from this intersection, the group built a dialogue and made use of cultural and political discourses about black identity and culture in the city of São Paulo, Brazil. The speeches under scrutiny here are understood as political categories. In this study we focused four key points: the history of carnival in Brazil and the position occupied by Ilú Obá in São Paulos carnival; the processes that led to the creation of the Bloco, its artistic composition and profile of members; the dynamics of race, gender and sexuality within the Bloco; and the traffic between the Bloco Afro Ilú Oba De Min and its transformation in the Ponto de Cultura Ilú Oná: Caminhos do Tambot.

Este trabalho de pesquisa se propõe a investigar, por meio de instrumentos qualitativos de análise, a pertinência do uso de elementos processos e modos da cultura afro-brasileira na aprendizagem da matemática escolar. Para tanto recorremos: as circunstâncias históricas de conceituação da racionalidade ocidental; as circunstâncias e consequências do racionalismo positivista para a inserção da população negra brasileira no sistema educacional; a uma proposta de racionalidade fundamentada na africanidade; a análise dos vínculos possíveis entre etnomatemática e psicologia cognitiva como instrumento de mediação da aprendizagem; e por fim a busca por elementos culturais que possam contribuir com atividades, modos e processos com potencial de serem incorporados nas aulas de matemática presentes nas práticas de um grupo de resistência dentro de uma escola de samba paulistana. / This research work proposes to investigate, through quantitative analysis tools, the relevance of the use of instruments - processes and methods - of the African-Brazilian culture in the learning school mathematics. In order to, we betake to: the historical circumstances of Western rationality conceptualization; the circumstances and consequences of the positivist rationalism for insertion of black people in educational system; the proposal of rationality founded in Africaness; the analysis of possible connections between ethnomathematics and cognitive psychology as mediation tools of apprenticeship; and lastly, the search for cultural elements - that may contribute to activities, methods and processes with the potential to be incorporated into mathematics classes - presents in the practices of a resistance group in a native of São Paulo samba school.

Rompendo barreiras sociais, culturais e políticas foi também reconhecida pela UNESCO, em 2014, como Patrimônio da Humanidade. Todo o processo de inventário, registro e reconhecimento que a Capoeira vem recebendo nos últimos anos não rompem com os preconceitos e formas de descriminação que ainda sofrem os capoeiristas no Brasil. Daí a importância de pesquisar, conhecer e dar visibilidade as experiências dos capoeiristas, contadas a partir de suas memórias e histórias de vida. É nesse sentido que este trabalho de tese se coloca, buscando sistematizar, a partir do diálogo de fontes orais e escritas, referências históricas da presença dos capoeiristas na cidade do Recife. O recorte temporal escolhido é a década de 1980, momento em que no emaranhado dos processos de redemocratização e afirmação dos grupos culturais no Brasil, os capoeiristas do Recife lançaram mão de várias táticas e astúcias para legitimar o jogo da Capoeira na cidade. O presente texto, tecido com as referências teóricas e metodológicas da história e outras ciências humanas e sociais, narra algumas experiências dos capoeiristas do Recife que levaram a Capoeira a ser reconhecida e utilizada em espaços formais da cidade, como uma luta, esporte, dança e objeto e veículo de educação. Experiências estas que acabaram por construir espaços para outras formas de sociabilidade, contribuindo para referendar modos de se fazer gente, presentes na cultura negra em Recife. / Capoeira, a polysemic and multifaceted practice, acknowledged by IPHAN as Intangible Heritage of Brazil in 2008, is one of the world-renowned popular expressions that most protect the knowledge and practices of the cultures that contributed to the birth of the Brazil. Breaking the social, cultural and political barriers, wh it has also been recognized as World Heritage by UNESCO in 2014. The process of inventory, recording and recognition reserved to Capoeira in recent years did not put and end to the prejudices and forms of discrimination that still affect the capoeiristas in Brazil. Hence the importance of searching, knowing and making known the experiences of capoeiristas, starting from their memories and life stories. That is why this thesis arises, seeking to systematize historical references of the presence of capoeira in Recife, by interweaving oral histories and written witnesses. The period analysed is the 1980s, when in the tangled process of democratization and affirmation of cultural groups in Brazil, the capoeiristas in Recife resorted to various tactics and gimmicks to legitimize the game of Capoeira in the city. This dissertation, indited using the theoretical and methodological basis of history and other humanities and social sciences, reports some experiences of capoeiristas in Recife that allowed the Capoeira to be acknowledged and introduced in formal places of the city, as a fight, as a sport, as a dance and as an educational object and tool. Experiences that eventually created opportunities for other forms of sociability present in the black culture in Recife, thus providing more opportunities for people to become good citizens.

In recent years, attention on Black British history has increased in light of the 2020 resurgence of the Black Lives Matter movement that encouraged Britons to rethink their participation in suppressing racialised communities. Much of this literature fills the gaps that have long existed in the British historical canon that overlook Black Briton’s and their existence in Britain entirely. This thesis seeks to contribute to this work through analysing the remarkable role of Black British bookshops and how they functioned as political, cultural, social, and imaginative spaces between the inauguration of the first Black bookshop in 1966 and the last International Book Fair of Radical, Black and Third World Books in 1995. Jürgen Habermas’s theory of public space is used and reframed to discuss the necessity of public space for marginalised communities in democratic societies. This is seen through the multifunctional aspects of bookselling space and the testimonies of bookshop owners and users who attest to the bookshop’s significance. Whilst the political importance of the Black British bookshop space has previously been emphasised, this thesis shows that their cultural, social and imaginative functions were also important aspects that drastically impacted the lives of Black Britons in the post-war era.
