Herrera, Erik January 2015 (has links)
ABSTRACT The construction industry represents one of the largest and most important industries in Sweden with a large throughput per year. Problems often arise in construction projects which lead to unnecessary construction costs, material costs and waste of time. A solution to those problems can be BIM-Building Information Modeling. BIM is a collective concept of how information is created, stored and used in different stages using a BIM 3D-model. The information should contain important data like height, volume, area, pressure etc. and be digital, measurable and available throughout the whole construction process.    The purpose of this study is to explore how BIM can make the construction industry more efficient regarding construction costs and time and to obtain a comprehensive view of BIM concept and functions during the construction process. The theoretical part includes benefits and disadvantages of BIM during the project planning, production and management stages. The implementation part describes the background of several of the interviewed actors and the implementation of a BIM-model in the program Autodesk Revit. The results are mainly based on interviews of different actors from project planning, production and management stages, but also from a BIM-model of a simple component. The interview result is a summary and reports the features and benefits of the use of BIM.  Former research in one residential shows that BIM perhaps give a saving in 5.15% of the costs. In conclusion BIM represents many advantages that will change and improve the construction process including time saving and less costs. BIM will be the leading approach in the construction industry with more education and better adapted software.

Arbetsmiljö och Byggnadsinformationsmodellering (BIM) : identifiera mål och strukturera målstruktur i anläggningsbranschen enligt värdefokuserat tänkande

Bernsten, Malin January 2016 (has links)

BIM i produktionsskedet / BIM in the production stage

Olsson, Lovisa, Arnäs-Nielsen, Henrik January 2013 (has links)
This thesis treats Building Information Modeling, BIM, in the production stage. Briefly described BIM is virtual model of a building object where all information about the object is gathered. All the involved operators in the construction project have access to the model and can gather or share information about the project. There are several ways to apply BIM in the production stage. This thesis primarily deals with visualization of the object, preparation and planning, the ability to take amounts from the model and coordination and clash control. The basic issue was highlighted by Byggdialog AB. The company has a vision about how they want to use BIM in all the different stages in a building project. Byggdialog want their partnering entrepreneurs to develop their BIM usage in the production stage in order to fulfill this vision. Goodtech is one of Byggdialogs partnering entrepreneurs and is the company that has been studied during this thesis. The goal with this thesis was to develop proposals as to how the BIM usage in the production stage can improve. The purpose was to make the partnering entrepreneurs understand why it is important and helpful to use BIM. The intention was also that other partnering entrepreneurs should be able to use this thesis while working with BIM in the production stage. The methods to collect information have been visits to construction sites, literature search, and interviews. The interviewees represented different operators that can affect the usage of BIM in the production stage. This thesis resulted in concrete proposals as to how the partnering entrepreneur can improve their BIM usage. Proposals as to how Byggdialog can ensure that their entrepreneurs are using BIM correct have also been developed. Today the partnering entrepreneur uses BIM to visualize the building object. As a suggestion the entrepreneur should also use the BIM model while preparing and planning their work and in order to calculate material amounts . It’s important that the entrepreneur understand how the model can be used and what kind of information it contains in order to enable these applications. It’s also important that the design phase is carefully executed. Proposals as to how this can be achieved is to educate the staff in BIM and how it should be used, that the partnering entrepreneur participates in the coordination meetings and that the partnering entrepreneur place greater demands on their electrical consultant. In order for Byggdialog to ensure that their partnering entrepreneurs are using BIM correct they should offer them education about BIM and how it works, make the BIMmodel more user-friendly and place demands on how they want BIM to be used in the project specifications.

MINSKAT MATERIALSVINN PÅ BYGGARBETSPLATSEN INOM SMÅHUSTILLVERKNING / REDUCED MATERIAL WASTE ON THE BUILDING SITE IN INDUSTRIALIZED SMALL HOUSE CONSTRUCTION

Andregård, Nellie, Johansson, Hanna January 2019 (has links)
Purpose: Material wastage is a widespread problem in the building sector that affects both the economic and environmental aspects negative. Further research within industrial small house manufacturing is required to develop an information system and investigate the amount of discarded material. Several small house companies use external building contractors which makes it difficult to reduce the amount of waste because the contractors are not economically affected by the amount of material left over. In the case studied there are no guidelines on how the amount of material waste should be fed back and how the small house manufacture should use that kind of experience feedback. There has to be an improved communication between the parties in order to systematically document where the material waste occur and what it depends on.The aim of the essay is to give concrete suggestions on how the experience feedback can be formed between small house companies and building contractors, and how the small house company can adjust their operation method in order to contribute to a reduced amount of material waste. Method: The paper is a qualitative study with litterateur, observation and interview study as applied examinations methods. The observation investigated the company’s working methods. In the literature study, scientific articles within waste, knowledge management and Building Information Modelling (BIM), where studied. These theories where later compared with the interviews, which were designed with a low degree of structuring and higher degree of standardization. Findings: The study presents that poor quality of the material is the most common experienced sources of material waste. Concrete suggestions on how the experience feedback between small house manufacturer and building contractors can be formed is presented, where photo documentation and weighing of the material are two of the alternatives. That information can in a later stage be used to optimize the company’s additional percentage on the material used to prevent the material from running out of the construction site. Implications: The paper results there is a developed system for how deviations for missing material is managed and that there also is a need to introduce it for residual material. Inadequate quality of the material is identified as the largest source of material waste, even calculation errors from quantity take-off are common because it is carried out manually. The additional percentage on material orders is not based on documentation and has potential to be optimized. One way to reduce the amount of material waste is to introduce a wider use of BIM in order to make clash control and quantity take-off. Limitations: The thesis is a case study, but the results can be applied in other small house companies with a similar working procedure. The study is delimited from organizational structures with internal builders, which means that the generalization of the results is decreased. The work is also limited from which incentives that is required to motivate the building contractors to use the suggested methods to return the information. Keywords: Waste, Construction, Knowledge Management, Quantity take-off and BIM.

Krav och kvalitetssäkring av BIM-objekt inom projektering, produktion samt förvaltning / Requirements and quality assurance of BIM objects within design, production and operation

Aldén, Jonathan, Pålsson, Kristian, Robertson, Johan January 2016 (has links)

Wetterheim, Johanna, Linder, Sara January 2015 (has links)

A conservative industry in development - Is BIM the solution?

Asklund Andersson, Mathias January 2019 (has links)

RIKTPRIS I ECI-PROJEKT – KRAV PÅ BIM-MODELLER AVSEENDE DETALJERINGSNIVÅ / Target Price in ECI projects – Requirements on BIM-models Regarding Level of Development

Saliba, George, Welker, Fanny January 2019 (has links)

BIM för Hållbart Byggande / BIM for Sustainable Building

Engdahl, Jenny, Hedlund, Madeleine January 2012 (has links)
The purpose of this study is to facilitate sustainable building by the use of BIM. The goal is to determine which aspects of sustainable building, which can be analyzed mainly with BIM tools, but also other aids. The study is based on literature studies and interviews. The literature review examines aspects important for sustainable building by studying environmental certification systems applicable in Sweden, as well as the BIM tools available on the market to analyze these aspects. The literature also includes the concepts of BIM and sustainability in order to provide a clearer view of its meaning. The interviews have brought the study's overall understanding of the industry and guidance on the subject. The results are presented in a table, where the aspects relevant to sustainable building are listed. It can also be read which aspect the certification systems raise. Overall, the study shows 132 aspects distributed across seven areas: Site, Water and Wastewater, Energy and Pollution, Materials and Waste, Indoor and Wellbeing, City Design and finally Implementation and Management. The table also suggests BIM tools and other aids, which can be used in the analysis of a specific aspect. The study shows a slight majority of the aspects, 55 percent, are possible to analyze with BIM tools. The Site is the area with most aspects, which can be analyzed with BIM tools, 95 percent. And Materials and Waste resulted in least aspects with only ten percent. Overall, the study examined 35 different BIM tools. The aspects that require other means of analysis often generates important information about the project, from a sustainability point of view, and in many cases the information can be integrated in the BIM model manually. In the end, the project gets a packed BIM model with useful information, which follows the project all the way into management and later demolition and recycling. The study shows that sustainable building demands a holistic approach where several aspects should be considered in order to achieve sustainability. To analyze the aspects of sustainability requires that relevant and accurate information about the project be collected. Various proposals can be drawn and compared to generate the most sustainable option. A tool for this is BIM. BIM is defined partly as a method of work, building information modeling, but also as a virtual model, building information model. BIM facilitates the coordination of information gathering, both as a working method and a technical tool. This will contribute BIM to achieve the purpose sustainable building.

Work preparation in production : Communication and information exchange between production management and workers within the organisation of Peab Sverige AB

Jernetz, Oscar, Lindstedt, Dennis January 2018 (has links)
Abstract Purpose: The construction industry's productivity in Sweden is low and one of the major causes of this is the lack of work preparation. A study showed that 45 percent of the fault causes could be linked to work preparation and accounted for up to 30 percent of the error costs. Work preparation is a tool for efficient and safe execution of work, but despite good foundation, the use of it does not work at present. The lack of use of work preparation is to a large extent a result of poor communication and information exchange between production management and occupational workers in production. The aim of the work is to investigate communication and information exchange between production management and occupational workers in the production. Identifying deficiencies in communication and information exchange, how they can be rectified. As well as provide improvement suggestions for the use of work preparation as a tool between production management and occupational workers. Method: To achieve the goal, a qualitative case study on three building projects has been carried out. The methodology has been semi structured interviews with team members involved in the work preparation, observation of meetings, document analysis of the organization's work preparation and a literature study to gain knowledge of the factors that cause deficiencies in communication and information exchange of the team members involved in the work preparation. Findings: The identified underlying causes of communication and information exchange failures are too little information about work preparation, unclear how to implement it and too few tools. Production management does not realize the value of work preparation, which means that the time required for a good work preparation is not set aside. Implications: An adequate work preparation is an important factor in increasing the productivity of construction projects. In order to achieve an adequate workforce the organization must have stronger guidelines and more tools to streamline it and appoint the responsible party to implement them. Production management needs to realize the value of a work preparation and set aside the time required for it to be beneficial. Limitations: The limitations on the work have been a requirement based on the time perspective of the work. The work is considered despite the limitation to Peabs office in Jönköping applicable to other projects. The work has not had the purpose of changing the work preparation but focuses on the use of it, how it is worked and used. Reflecting that work preparation is a general term not only used in the construction industry, the result is generalizable to not only building projects but in all areas of work that require a comprehensive work preparation in an efficient and flexible manner.
