Numerické modelování soutěží o dvě ceny s asymetrickými hráči / Numerical Modelling of Two-Prize Asymmetric Contests

This thesis presents an analysis on a class of asymmetric imperfectly discrim- inating multi-prize contests with the aim to investigate when more than one prize becomes optimal prize allocation if the average effort is to be maximized. We present n-person model with heterogeneous contestants who compete for two, possibly different, prizes. The contestants may differ in their relative abil- ities, i.e., parameters affecting their probabilities to win either of the prizes. Two different numerical methods for finding pure strategy Nash equilibria are employed. Depending on particular distributions of the abilities, we find two possible scenarios when the second prize becomes optimal. Furthermore, we ad- dress an issue of existence and uniqueness of a pure strategy Nash equilibrium with respect to the returns to scale in effort parameter. This research aimed to deepen the understanding of consumer confusion associated with this scenario, considering that consumers tend to choose what and where to buy jointly. Specifically, based on the cue-diagnosticity theory, a thesis has been proposed that to overcome confusion and make a purchase decision, consumers tend to rely on the store brand revealing high diagnosticity of this cue in nowadays' scenario. Based on this proposition, a series of three experiments were carried on with consumers recruited through Mechanical Turk, to test six hypotheses. As a result, the first study demonstrated a negative effect of confusion on purchase intention, and a mediation of this effect by regret anticipation; the second study revealed the direct effect of confusion on purchase intention, as well as the indirect effect through regret anticipation, as being moderated by store brand reputation; the third study revealed that the same effects are observed when referring to a manufacturer's store brand. Among the contributions of this research, the following can be highlighted: a broad definition of consumer confusion associated with the multimedia and multichannel scenario; evidence that confusion impacts decision making during a buying experience; regret anticipation addressed as a mechanism that explains this effect; identification that consumers tend to consider the store brand reputation when it refers to a retailer as well as when it refers to a manufacturer selling directly to consumers; and the finding that store brand reputation can decrease the negative effect of confusion on purchase intention, revealing high diagnosticity of the store brand in light of consumer confusion. Academic and managerial implications are presented at the end of this report, along with opportunities for future research. / A crescente oferta de produtos e servi?os atrav?s de m?ltiplos canais de distribui??o e meios de comunica??o caracteriza o cen?rio multim?dia e multicanal. Nesta pesquisa buscou-se aprofundar a compreens?o da confus?o do consumidor associada a esse cen?rio, atentando para a tend?ncia de os consumidores escolherem de maneira conjunta o qu? e onde comprar. Especificamente, baseando-se na teoria da diagnosticidade de sinalizadores, formulou-se a tese de que, para superar a confus?o visando uma decis?o de compra, o consumidor tende a se apoiar na marca da loja, revelando alta diagnosticidade desse sinalizador nos processos decis?rios de consumo da atualidade. Diante desse postulado, realizou-se uma sequ?ncia de tr?s estudos experimentais junto a consumidores recrutados via Mechanical Turk, para testar seis hip?teses. I study retail prices of sport goods for a particular multinational producer across European countries and in the USA to examine behaviour of the law of one price. Although average prices across all goods in the sample differ only slightly across most of the countries, I find significant price differences for individual goods for almost each country pair, including a group of the states that are generally considered as relatively integrated. The conducted analysis has not confirmed that these differences are caused primarily by various distribution costs. The computed relative prices across products vary significantly once compared internationally even within a group of similar goods of which distribution costs should be the same. The price variation, which prevails even when costs are excluded, points to the existence of strategic pricing and lagging arbitrage.

The Amazon region has high diversity and plant richness and it is in this biome that is the study area, in the National Forest of Jamari, is a Conservation Unit of Multiple Use. In this FLONA there are eight mines under a PRAD because there has been since the 1960s the exploration and mining of cassiterite to obtain tin. The opening of cavas for the exploration is done in the open, performed almost mechanically, leaving the environment at the end very degraded and its restoration demands resources and time. In general, the recovery of the landscape of an area of cultivation is done with the use of planting heterogenous species of the same biome, aiming to cover the soil and induce natural regeneration. In the areas of mines the type of substrate influences in the development and fixation of the vegetal species in the area. The objectives were to map the soil cover, the creation of future scenarios of revegetation using a prediction program. In these mines the types of substrates that were classified in tillage (PL), dry tail (RS), wet tail (RU), washed tail and washing plant (WP) were mapped. Using four high spatial resolution images of the years 2009, 2011, 2013 and 2015, the typologies were classified as soil exposed, field dirty, capoeira, vegetation thin, intermediate, dense. The areas occupied by each typology for each of the years studied in the mines were compared in order to quantify the converted areas of exposed soil in vegetated areas and the dynamics of the present vegetation cover. Future scenarios for the years 2020 to 2065 were modeled using the Dinamica-EGO, a program used for simulation and prediction of natural environments in particular deforestation. The validation of the generated maps was done using fuzzy similarity. The results obtained for the future scenarios were similar to those observed and the dynamics of the five typologies used evolved in a manner consistent with that observed, with some mines having a better development in a shorter time according to the type of substrate and age of the plantations. / A utiliza??o de geotecnologias auxilia no acompanhamento e quantifica??o do desenvolvimento e modifica??o da paisagem. A regi?o Amaz?nica tem alta diversidade e riqueza vegetal e ? nesse bioma que est? a ?rea de estudo, na Florestal Nacional do Jamari, uma Unidade de Conserva??o de uso m?ltiplo. Nessa FLONA h? oito minas sob um PRAD pois houve desde a d?cada de 1960 a explora??o e lavra de cassiterita para obten??o de estanho. Utilizando quatro imagens de alta resolu??o espacial dos anos 2009, 2011, 2013 e 2015, foram classificados as tipologias solo exposto, campo sujo, capoeira, vegeta??o rala, intermedi?ria, densa. As ?reas ocupadas por cada tipologia, para cada um dos anos estudados nas minas foram comparados visando quantificar as ?reas convertidas de solo exposto em ?reas vegetadas e a din?mica da cobertura vegetal presente. Cen?rios futuros para os anos de 2020 a 2065 foram modelados utilizando o Din?mica-EGO, programa utilizado para simula??o e predi??o de ambientes naturais em especial desmatamento. A valida??o dos mapas gerados foi feita utilizando similaridade fuzzy. Os resultados obtidos para os cen?rios futuros foram em similares ao observado e a din?mica das cinco tipologias utilizadas evolu?ram de forma condizente com o observado, tendo algumas minas melhor desenvolvimento em um menor tempo de acordo com o tipo de substrato e idade dos plantios.

The aim of the diploma thesis is to process the development in the average market prices of real estate in other segments of the real estate market and to assess whether and how the development of the prices of various types of real estate differs between years 2005 and 2010. The literature research focuses primarily on the explanation of the basic concepts, the analysis of the market and the segment of the real estate market. The real estate valuation methodology and the factors affecting the price of real estate. Before proceeding, I determined a methodological order consisting of an identification of the individual characteristics of the selected areas, a market analysis in the selected segment, a methodology of obtaining prices within a specified period and the ways of evaluation of the data obtained. The research is based on my personal experience in the field of the real estate market. This experience allowed me to track the movement of the real estate prices in the different segments of the real estate market. I focused on the situation of cities Prachatice, Vimperk and Strakonice. In conclusion, I tried to identify the factors that affected the real estate prices from the long term point of view, with an emphasis on the impact of the economic crisis.

Metadata in Digital Preservation and Exchange of Electronic Healthcare Records.

The Swedish National Archives are in charge of the management of Common Specifications (CS). CS are genericmetadata specifications that provides structure and markup when transferring digital information betweeninformation systems and to electronic archives. As of now there is no CS for electronic healthcare records (EHR).Organizations around Sweden have developed their own specifications for transferring healthcare information. Inaddition to that, there are comprehensive international EHR metadata standards established. The Swedish NationalArchives have commissioned a study of EHR metadata specifications and standards to aid in the development of theCS.A Delphi study was conducted, including respondents from major archiving organizations in Sweden, to identifynecessary metadata categories when exchanging EHRs. The data was analyzed considering the international EHRmetadata standards HL7 CDA2 and CEN/ISO EN13606, as well as digital preservation metadata categories. Theresults were a set of metadata categories necessary to include in a CS. In addition, a subset of suggested mandatorymetadata categories is proposed and a list of implications for practice. Clinical codes, auditing, and separatingmetadata related to different contexts are a sample size of the implications.The results were evaluated in an interview with the Swedish National Archives, as well as Sydarkivera. Three criteriafor evaluating the results were proposed, being that the results had to consider a common terminology as well as bebased on a metadata standard and Swedish metadata specifications for EHRs. The interview revealed that the resultssatisfied these criterions, except for requiring a study on one additional user environment of EHRs.

The thesis is concerned with one of the building blocks of the classical theory of international trade, known as the Heckscher-Ohlin (H-O) model. It consists of two parts -- in the first one, the model is briefly introduced and related theorems - theoretical extensions of the model - are presented. This introduction is then followed by a discussion on the empirical performance of the model. In the second part, the factor price equalization theorem, closely related to the original H-O model, is both theoretically and empirically analysed.
