Régénération et réactivation de catalyseurs d'hydrotraitement : vers la compréhension des paramètres de réjuvenation / Regeneration and reactivation of hydrotreatment catalysts : towards understanding the parameters of rejuvenation

Pedraza Parra, Camila- Andrea 13 December 2018 (has links)
Regeneration and reactivation of used industrial CoMo/Al2O3 hydrodesulfurization (HDS) catalysts allows reusing them. Since these catalysts are considered toxic and pollutant, regeneration/reactivation is an interesting procedure from an economical and ecological point of view. The regeneration allows removing carbon deposits but, by itself, does not restore completely the activity of new generations of HDS catalysts. Consequently, a second stage named rejuvenation, involving addition of organic compounds has been implemented. The study of the impact of additives is of great interest but many observations remain unexplained. Furthermore, some patents have described a pre-activation procedure that allows activating catalysts ex situ in order to avoid contact with sulfur compounds and a safe handling and loading of the catalysts in HDS units. In addition, it is common knowledge that sulfidation is a critical stage that impacts strongly the catalytic performance. In this sense, this study aims to study the effect of different rejuvenation, pre-activation and subsequent sulfidation conditions on final characteristics of catalysts. In this work three rejuvenated and pre-activated catalysts were studied after different sulfidation protocols. Catalysts were tested and compared in thiophene and SRGO HDS. Additionally, the influence of the organic compounds added during rejuvenation was studied by different techniques (XPS, CO/IR, TEM…). Results allowed determining differences in catalytic activity and establishing a correlation between thiophene HDS activity and CoMoS concentration. No morphological divergences were detected in the systems, instead, differences in catalytic performances are attributed to an unequal promotion degree

Compréhension de la relation entre la structure physico-chimique et l’activité des catalyseurs d’HDS vieillis / Understanding of the relation between physico-chemical structure and activity of aged HDS catalysts

Saturnino, David 28 April 2014 (has links)
During the cycle of a HDS process, deactivation of the catalyst is attributed to three main causes: coke deposition (with loss of pore volume), metals deposition and segregation of the active phase. The aim of this work was to study the effect of coking and active phase changes on the deactivation of the HDS catalyst (of CoMoS/Al2O3 type) applied to the HDS of a diesel feed and find the key operating conditions to obtain a spent catalyst comparable to the industrial one. Accelerated aging tests have been performed with different feedstocks (different amounts of aromatics), hydrogen to oil ratio, duration and a pre-reduction treatment. After each test, catalysts have been characterized in terms of texture (BET and BJH methods), coke (Raman, IR, TPO, EPR, ToF-SIMS) and active phase (TEM/EDX, XPS, TPR). In terms of texture and coke, a high amount of aromatics on the feedstock and low hydrogen to oil ratio favor the formation of coke. In order to increase the organization of graphitic coke, we have proposed a longer test. In terms of active phase, a long duration, high hydrogen to oil ratio and a pre-reduction treatment favor loss of dispersion of sulphur and cobalt contents of the active phase and formation of cobalt sulfide agglomerates. Pre-reduction seems to be an effective treatment to simulate the exposure to high temperatures during a HDS cycle which results in segregation of the active phase, a fingerprint of an industrial spent HDS catalyst

Synthèse de catalyseurs de type coeur@coquille pour le procédé d’hydrodésulfuration en phase gazeuse / Synthesis of core shell catalysts for hydrodesulfurization process

Wery, Madeleine 26 September 2018 (has links)
In hydrodesulfurization of fossil fuels, the sulfur levels are reduced by sulfur extraction from hydrocarbons by using supported catalysts (MoS2), doped (Co, Ni). Ultra-deep hydrodesulfurization will be achieved by improving new catalysts. Nanoparticles are a promising candidate with their high S/V ratio and permit to use the precise amount of metallic sulphide. The aim of this thesis is the synthesis of core@shell nanometric catalyst with improved activities. Core composed of Fe3O4 or nanodiamonds will be surrounded by a shell formed of MoS2, NiMoS, CoMoS or NiCoMoS, supported on TiO2, γ-Al2O3. Model reaction (thiophene) has allowed to compare conversion rates between each catalyst. Additionally, characterizations have provided a better understanding of the HDS catalyst structure and performances. Some factors have been investigated such as the size of the core, theinteractions between the core and the shell, the type of synthesis, the support chosen, the synergetic effect with doping ions and also the activation of the catalyst at low temperature.

Bridging the gap between spectroscopic and catalytic properties of supported CoMoS catalysts / Rationalisation des propriétés catalytiques des catalyseurs CoMoS supportés par approches spectroscopiques

Caron, Fabien 21 December 2017 (has links)
Catalysts used in the selective gasoline hydrodesulphurization (HDS) process are mainly cobalt promoted MoS2 active phase (CoMoS) supported on alumina. The aim of this work is to explore correlation between specific features of those HDS catalysts and their catalytic performances. Three parameters are studied to understand the catalytic performances of HDS catalysts: the nature of the support (γ-Al2O3, δθ-Al2O3, SiO2), the molybdenum surface density and the cobalt/molybdenum ratio. HDS activity and selectivity are measured by performing high pressure catalytic tests on model molecules. In parallel, characterizations of the CoMoS phase were performed by XPS and HRTEM analysis to determine the chemical speciation and structure (size and stacking) of the active phase. Additionally, these techniques are combined with previous ab initio quantum calculations to develop a 2D morphology model of the CoMoS slab by considering the location of cobalt atoms at the edges of the slab. For the three supports, a correlation is found between the HDS activity and the number of Co atoms at the slab edges. The normalization by stacking appears to be necessary to obtain this correlation. Moreover, HRSTEM analysis on CoMoS on δθ-Al2O3 and γ-Al2O3 reveals the impact of the facets of dq-alumina crystallites and the possible role of corner and edges of g-Al2O3 crystallites on the size of the CoMoS slabs. The FTIR spectroscopic study of the adsorption of the NO probe molecule combined with ab initio calculations enables the identification of the nature of the active sites of the CoMoS phase as a function of the support. The spectroscopic features revealed for the silica supported catalyst are in line with its lower HDS activity. Simultaneously, an innovative experimental set up for in situ GC-DRIFT and GC-ATR analysis has been built on-purpose for studying the catalysts. It allows the investigation of the interactions of model reactants contacting the CoMoS phase and its supports close to HDS reaction conditions. This technique shows distinct behaviors of the adsorption and desorption process (non-reversible and reversible) of 3-methylthiophene (3MT) on γ-Al2O3 and SiO2 supported catalysts due to specific surface reactivity towards 3MT depending on the support and the presence of the CoMoS phase. Moreover, the presence of H2 modified the vibrational adsorption modes of 3MT linked to its adsorption and/or reactivity.

Εffect οf the suppοrt οn the activity and mοrphοlοgy οf hydrοdesulfurizatiοn catalysts / Effet du support sur la morphologie et l'activité des catalyseurs d'hydrodésulfuration

Dominguez Garcia, Elizabeth 19 December 2017 (has links)
The influence of the support effect on the sulfide phases formation, i.e. morphology, sites dispersión, structure and catalytic activity for hydrotreating catalysts was studied. The study started by Mo catalysts and followed by CoMo catalysts supported on alumina silica and titania. The support effect appeared to be the key factor to control the morphology of MoS2 slabs. The morphology was studied using a powerful technique so-called IR/CO, i.e. CO adsorption followed by FTIR spectroscopy. This method allows the distinction of two types of edge exposed on the MoS2 slabs so-called M- and S-edge and then permits the study of the morphology by the S-/M-edge ratio. Thus, for a weak interaction MoS2-support deformed hexagon morphology was detected whereas for a strong interaction triangle morphology was observed. These different morphologies were used to study the Co localization by the same method, IR/CO. This method also allows the distinction between non- and promoted sites as well as Co located on M- and S-edges. Hence, the comparison between S-/M-edge ratio and promotion degree (promoted/non-promoted sites ratio) showed that Co is present on both M- and S-edges for the three CoMo supported catalysts. Additionally, a detailed study showed that Co preferentially decorates S-edge sites. Consequently, the CoMoS site structures for each catalyst has been studied by 2D IRIS method. This novel method developped in LCS allows the resolution of overlapping IR/CO bands which were previously a limitation for CoMoS sites characterization. This advance in the CoMo characterization lead to the study of detailed CoMoS structure. After the assignment of three bands which are observed in the promoted range of IR/CO spectra, it appeared that S-edge sites were partially promoted by Co, whereas M-edge sites could be partially and totally promoted by Co. The different proportion of those sites have an effect on HDS (hydrodesulfuration) reactivity. Thus, higher intrinsic activity was found for M-edge partially promoted by Co followed by totally promoted and finally the S-edge partially promoted sites.

We understand that this author presents an original discussion about the meaning of history in opposition to the conceptions developed by the Historicism. In order to do so we described the considerations presented in Heidegger s thoughts in 1927, which reinforce his overcoming the epistemological approach and proposing the ontological understanding of history. According to him, the comprehension of what history means should not be defined by the attempts to establish it as a science, but an ontological comprehension of history is revealed by describing the fundamental human condition as Dasein. Based upon daily human existence Heidegger inquiries the significance of history, namely the mode-of-being of history - called historicity [historicality]. We tried to accomplish the exposition of the mode-of-being of history by means of the fundamental elements description as inserted in the Analytics of Dasein, because these elements (being-with-others, temporality, understanding, care, being-towards-death, state-of-mind, etc), along with the description of the phenomenologic-hermeneutical methodology, bring into light the original ontological perspective by Heidegger s thoughts to discuss the problem of history / O presente estudo pretende explicitar a historicidade discutida na obra Ser e Tempo de Martin Heidegger.
