Fortifications seigneuriales et résidences aristocratiques gasconnes dans l'ancien comté d'Astarac entre le Xème et le XVIème siècle / Fortified sites seigniorial and aristocratic residences in the ancient country of Astarac between the Xth century and the XVIth century.

Guinaudeau, Nicolas 26 May 2012 (has links)
This study of the aristocratic residences of the ancient county of Astarac results from works done between 2003 and 2011. It is part of general survey of the medieval fortresses of Midi-Pyrénées which started in 1994 and aims at evaluating the patrimony of this region. The main purpose was an inventory of fortresses such as mottes, castral platforms, moated sites and ringworks and so aristocratic residences as towers, salas and towers-salas. It shows that the southern part of the Gers department witness the implantation of a number of fortified sites seigniorial and aristocratic residences between the X century and the XVI century. A list of more 320 sites, scattered over 10 cantons was thus drawn up. This work has been completed according to examinations of written documents. An historic work of the ancient county of Astarac and the seigniorial power has been realized to identify proprietary’s statute. Informations from field researches and archival sources made possible an assessment of the populating and the county’s organization.

La rehabilitació com actitud projectual: el cas del Regomir

Costa Trost, Margarita 07 June 2007 (has links)
The objective of the thesis is to develop an example of research methodology about The Urban Form, presenting a new interpretation of the place on Regomir, located in the city of Barcelona. I believe this analysis exercise is fundamental to the Rehabilitation of Urban Forms and Architecture in general. Prior to the development of the practical part of the work specified in the case of Regomir, the thesis sets forth a discourse that frames the subject of Rehabilitation from the theoretical angle. In the first chapter, the section for the bibliographical comments describes the entirety of situations that have played a role in shaping the history of the rehabilitation of architecture in the last century, formalising the background in order to have a broader vision available for current reality. To finish, the bibliographical comments contain the entirety of data published that are part of the secondary documentation collection used in my subsequent research about the specific case of Regomir. The second chapter describes the predisposition, training and planning of architecture as a veritable tool for protecting our heritage, reaching an in-depth understanding the Rehabilitation as a Planning Attitude. The objective of the third chapter of the thesis, The Case of Regomir, is to develop a concrete case for the analysis of Urban Form, providing an overall vision of the strategies of the method. This exercise allows you to draw closer to the formal, constructive and functional logic of the Urban Form of a place that has been known for centuries as El Regomir, located in the municipality of the city of Barcelona, currently coinciding with the area of this city where the carrer del Regomir is located. The current Carrer del Regomir is located on the southern side of the Gothic neighbourhood of the historic centre, starting at the Plaza of Regomir and ending at Carrer Ample. The concrete research subject arose from an interest towards an ancient and long-standing building located on a section of the street with the same name, shaping a large part of its morphology, currently identified with the numbers 11-19 on this street. The work proposes to carry out a search arising around a specific architectural work, but tightly linked to the sector it is part of, with the text and context as two intentions in themselves, forming part of a single process and a single conceptual unit. The concrete study of this place shall provide data about the customs, the economy, the needs, the construction and the architecture of the city in its training process. The study of El Regomir is presented as a methodological example in order to understand professional attitudes about rehabilitation, based on a necessary understanding prior to all Rehabilitation Projects, showing the search strategies that propitiate a project that is in dialogue with its environment. The methodology used can be extrapolated in order to research and learn about other fragments of the city that as of today have yet to be studies. Therefore, the efforts taken in the sector of El Regomir will help to understand the history of the Urban Forms of Barcelona, setting forth the strategies to be used for the study of the Catalan Urban Form in general. The value -but more general than I consider in the presentation of this work- is to transmit an attitude and a learning method in the field of rehabilitation, which is applicable to any level of architecture, from the seemingly simplest architecture to the most complex and renowned. This document develops a fragment of the Urban Form of Barcelona, where there will be an opportunity to work with extremely diverse documentation, a fact that comprehensively illustrates the possibility of searching for the method. All architects, in every rehabilitation project that they are appointed to, must know how to access all possible existing documentation and determine the objectives and the limits of their search. In my opinion, the true value of the thesis written lies in this most general appreciation.

Archeologie tvrze v českých zemích. K počátkům středověkých opevněných sídel / Archeology of the Fortified Manor in the Czech Lands. To the beginnings of the Medieval Fortified Residences

Laval, Filip January 2013 (has links)
Archaeology of the fortified manor in the Czech lands To the beginnings of the medieval fortified residences The work is dedicated to the medieval fortified manor in the Czech lands with regard to the need to formulate new questions. He marginally considers the questions of actual and historical terminology and its semantic content. To explore the functions of the fortified manors the structure of the associated settlement is discussed. A substantial testimony is attributed to some of selected written sources pointing to the legal-historical or jurisdictional context of "private" fortified settlements/residences. A separate chapter is devoted to the analysis of several examples of archaeological research from the Czech lands and from western parts of Europe, which revealed situations classifiable to fortified manor, respectively castles, which was preceded by much less or not at all fortified settlements, while maintaining close spatial continuity. So the questions concerning the beginnings of that type settlements are pronounced. With this packet of problems the work deals applying a comparative analysis that leads to some reassessment of the importance of the Romanesque church with the western tower as a kind of reduction of the castle model known from contemporary (12th century) Western European regions...

Återbruk av betong i Främre Boländerna : Från rivningsmaterial till användbara betongelement / Reuse of concrete in Främre Boländerna

Ilkilic, Liam, Zumaeta, Alexander January 2023 (has links)
Greenhouse gas emissions drive climate change, posing a global challenge with serious consequences ranging from glacial melting to societal disruptions. Sweden has introduced a climate policy framework to achieve climate neutrality by year 2045, with the construction and real estate sector accounting for about 21 percent of total greenhouse gas emissions. Concrete, despite its long history and versatility, significantly contributes to the climate crisis. The problem is serious where a circular construction sector and concrete reuse can reduce the carbon footprint and contribute to Sweden's environmental goals. The study focuses on today's challenges with concrete's extensive climate impact and the insufficient reuse of older concrete buildings and strives to identify solutions for the reuse of concrete walls. Real estate companies Castellum and Vectura, along with consulting firm Bjerking, lead a reuse project for circular construction in Främre Boländerna. The properties of concrete, including its compressive strength, vary depending on the area of use, ranging from general building structures to commercial and industrial buildings. Previous research has shown that there is great potential for reuse, but also many challenges. The report's methodology includes interviews with six respondents, three field visits, compressive strength tests of concrete samples, and an extensive literature review, all to answer the study's purpose and problem. The interview study indicates that there are several challenges with reuse and the concrete samples show suitable compressive strength values for reuse with approved crack creation. The study's conclusions show that the concrete from Främre Boländerna can be used for general structures like homes and parks, but not for commercial buildings that require a load-bearing building frame. The main challenges identified in the study are intermediate storage, economic factors, legal issues, lack of standards and guidelines, reuse depots, and logistical problems. Despite these challenges, future opportunities appear promising.
